Alessa climbed down into the pool and slowly relaxed as the weight on her lower back finally faded. She grunted, watching as the causes of her pain bobbed in front of her. "No one told me how much trouble you'd be." She told her breast, tapping one of the fabric-encased spheres with the tips of her fingers.
"Mind if I join you, Your Majesty?" A woman asked from behind. Daria Kara stepped forward and tapped her toe gently into the water. "Mm. Nice and warm." Without waiting for a response, Daria stripped from her robe of office and dropped it to the ground, showing she had come dressed for the occasion in a slim blue bikini.
"Hello, Daria!" Alessa said with a pleased smile, sliding over to let the older woman in.
"So, how are your new clothes?" Daria asked, sighing contentedly as she slipped her beautiful body into the warm water. "Oh, this is nice. You know, why can't we make the entire planet this warm during winter?" Alessa looked up and out the window at the cloudy gray sky, where wind blew little drifts of snowflakes across the Imperial City. "And I'm sure I don't need to tell you how irritating it is to have to wear an extra layer whenever I go outside just to make sure there's nothing there for certain males to to see."
"No... no you don't." Alessa's mood soured as quickly as it had sweetened, and she resumed staring down at herself, a faint blush covering her cheeks.
"Well, we both agree. That's good." Daria paused, and then flexed her hands a bit. "So, since we're agreeing, how about you agree to make me back into a man?" Alessa blinked at Daria quite vacantly. "You remember? I used to be male? Tall? Short black hair? Didn't have breasts?" Alessa's expression cleared slightly, but it still remained perplexed. "...okay, you must remember."
"Of course I remember. I just don't know why you'd want me to do that." Alessa sank deeper into the water, sighing in relief as even more weight was lifted off her lower back. "Being a woman is wonderful."
"Says the 'woman' who can barely get up in the morning because her chest is two sizes too large for her body." Daria muttered under her breath. "Look, being a woman is wonderful, but I prefer being a man. Surely you can't still be angry over whatever it was I said..."
"I don't even remember what you said." Alessa replied evenly, her fingers tracing along the water's edge. Little lights and sparkles began to glisten under her finger as she began to hum a soft tune to herself that Daria vaguely recognized as an old High Roanian lullaby.
"Alessa... I mean. Your Majesty. If you don't remember why you turned me into a woman in the first place, then surely it wouldn't be too much trouble to turn me back, right?"
"I suppose." Alessa continued to hum, her eyes drifting slowly closed. "But I don't want to, so I won't." She sighed happily and tilted her head on its side, the water under her lifting up to form a pillow for her to rest on. "This feels so relaxing..."
"My lady, please!" Daria begged, and when Alessa remained both unmoved and unmoving, the former Grand Vizier poked her right in the chest with a long nail.
"Ow!" Alessa snapped back to wakefulness and reached her hand up to where Daria had jabbed her. "That hurt!" She complained, rubbing it ruefully. "What was that for?"
"That. as you so term it, was for being a spiteful little bitch who refuses to be satisfied with their revenge even when they forget why they were angry in the first place." Daria paused, and then placed her hand on Alessa's chest. "Wow, these are pretty big on you. Nowhere near as big as mine, of course, but still, considering how petite the rest of you is, pretty big."
"S-stop that!" Alessa started to blush. "S-stop touching me so I c-can turn you into something horrible!"
"That's hardly motivation for me to stop." Daria snapped back, though she did release Alessa after a moment. "...I don't feel anything." Daria groaned. "Could you at least make it so that I'm attracted to women again?"
"No. Be g-g-g-grateful I don't kill you." Alessa pulled away from Daria, shock, alarm and embarrassment highlighted on her face. "D-don't you have anything more important to be doing than bothering me? Go and... I don't know, plan my decennial party." The Empress paused and then smiled. "That's a great idea! You know all about decennial parties and things, I'm sure! And coming of age ceremonies and everything! You could plan it for me! It will give you something to do and it will make you leave me alone, it's perfect!"
"Oh, but... I don't possibly know how I could plan a party to celebrate your birthday, Your Majesty. It will be difficult to come up with a party that would please you, and I don't... I don't quite know what to do for your ceremony without your parents." Daria smiled. "You know, I remember my mother telling me about your father's coming of age ceremony. He was apparently a handsome rascal. That was probably where he met your mother for the first time, you know But a coming of age ceremony without anyone by way of a guardian..."
"Oh, just try. Even if you fail, you'll come up with something a lot better than Emperor Aleazaner and Empress Alysanra would have for their little mistake." Alessa's mood had darkened once more, and the water around her was beginning to chill.
"But..."
"Daria, I'm going to do something I very rarely do, and that is give you a direct order. You will take charge of my upcoming decennial celebrations and the coming of age ceremony that will go along with them. Do I make myself clear? And it will be better than my father's Coming of Age." Alessa pulled herself to her feet. "If you succeed, I will consider granting you that which you desire most."
"My manhood?" Daria whispered, trembling.
"Well, if you want... but I was thinking more along the lines of your magic, Archmage." Alessa turned to go. "Guards, escort me to my chambers." Her personal bodyguard appeared from beyond the door as Daria rose to leave with her. "Oh... there's one more thing, Daria." Alessa paused and smiled sweetly.
"Anything, Your Majesty." Daria replied, cockily, already picturing using her refurbished magic to remove the curse that changed her sex, to retake her place in society, even to punish this arrogant girl who had dared to speak to her in such a manner.
Alessa's smile became a snarl as her temper flared to nova extremes. Her body began to glow intently and she levitated from the ground. Daria flew into the air, her skin suddenly marred by lashes like those of a whip cutting deep into her body. "If you ever mention my father in my presence again, I will personally sell you as a mindless sex slave in a galactic scale holovision. Do I make myself understood?"
"Yes, Your Majesty!" Daria choked out, and Alessa dropped her to the ground with a thud. "I'm sorry, Your Majesty! Mercy, mercy! Have mercy and spare my life!" Daria banged her head on the ground in obeisance as Alessa's skin returned to its normal color.
"Kill you?" Alessa blinked at Daria, confused. "Why would I kill you?" She looked at her two guards, neither of whom had blinked or even moved a muscle during this display.
"Uh... because I mentioned..." Daria's innate sense of self-preservation took over at that moment. "Nothing, Your Majesty." The woman paused and watched Alessa carefully. "Your Majesty, are you quite well?"
"Apart from this ache in my lower back? Why wouldn't I be?" Alessa's eyelashes batted once or twice in Daria's direction. "You may rise. What are you doing down there, anyway?
"Uh... Your Majesty, I wonder if you might tell me what you remember about the past 50 seconds." When Alessa's expression remained blank, Daria made as elaborate a curtsy as she could in just her bikini. "Never mind, your majesty, I'm sure I was mistaken. Um. I'll go and get started on planning your coming of age, my lady. Excuse me, my lady."
"You want my help, Daria?" Radmiel resentfully asked from his desk. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but last time we talked you tried to kill me."
"And you've tried to kill me 5 times in the past week. But I'm working on our dearly beloved Empress' birthday, and I would prefer not to have her angry with me for failure. So you're going to help me, or else I will remind her about the mystery of the missing tea."
"She chose you to act as party organiser?" The Grand Vizier said doubtfully, trying to reach for the wand hidden under his table.
"Why else would I be here if she hadn't?"
"Good point." Radmiel relaxed his grip. "I'll help if you let me fuck you again."
"You're joking." Daria spat. "You'll help because if you don't help, you'll die. If you actually get some work done, I'll consider letting you see me topless, but that's the most you're going to get from me, you pathetic worm. Besides." She brushed her hair back. "If I must be a woman, I know I can do a damn sight better than you."
Radmiel growled under his breath. "Fine. I'll help, but don't expect me to make a habit of it. And I want 70% of the credit on our account reports to the Diadem at the end of the month."
"50. Take it or leave it."
"Oh... deal." Radmiel threw his wand to the ground, where it sparked. "I'll second some of my best men to you and get some FO wonks working on throwing together the invitations. Anything else?"
Daria paused, not sure how much she wanted to tell him, and then shook her head, her purple locks drifting down her neck. "No, that will be all. Oh, wait. Can you get me the Archchancellor's number?"
Radmiel turned even more suspicious. "Why would you want Kouran the Windbag's number?" But not finding a reason to refuse her, and wanting her gone from his office, he sighed and transferred it to her datacache. "Now go away."
