NOVEMBER 26 2008
26 NÕVEMBRIĆ, 2008

Following an unexplained breakdown in international communication, including an inability to communicate via the International Forums of NationStates, Prime Minister Ulem Penintes is please to confirm the return of The Shambles to the widest international forum.

Speaking at a specially convened meeting of the Senate, all Members from across the parties have welcomed the news, which comes at a time of massive international difficulties both political and economic.

"At a time when the international community needs all the assistance at our disposal, The Shambles will do all it can to play a part once more in the world here, and to our friends across the World, and the Forums."

NOTE TO EDITORS

*The Shambles is a dominion of districts spread across the eastern Atlantic. For reasons to tedious to get into now, it's been a while...but they're back now....

Picked up by Gadar! (Revolution, the state newsmedia umbrella), a communiqué from the Shambolique Dominion came as something of a surprise after years of speculation had bred in the Commonwealth a comfortable it'll never happen attitude.

In the Final Soviet, the principle issues raised in response to the press release centred around long-lost familial and business contacts and the Savique-based bi-national aviation plant represented in the Soviet Commune by the Savov Co-operative.

"Can The Shambles continue, against the backdrop of the present capitalist financial collapse, to furnish the Savov-affiliated collective enterprise with the raw materials it needs to continue operation?" asks the East Bengali Soviet Consul, while his Sinhalese comrade wonders about the long-term consequences if the current down-turn should prove to be the death knell of a global system, asking whether the Shambolique education system will be capable of providing capable aerospace engineers in years to come. "Would it not be prudent to consider a recall of the Soviet capital invested in The Shambles, the only capitalist state in which the Commonwealth has ever significantly invested?" she wonders.

Talks between the Governments of Beth Gellert and The Shambles to help save the multi-million pound aviation contract on which hundreds of jobs in Savique District rely.

Dismissing fears of the financial state and education levels of the nation as language "characteristic of the mood of the world", sources close to the Ministry of Defense have told media outlets that the hurdles currently blocking the deal are mostly administrative rather than financial. Savique District Council refused to comment on claims that it had been effectively frozen out of talks.

Beth Gellert has allegedly made its concerns about the Savique Council clear to national government figures following the 2008 District elections in which the Christian Party maintained a majority, albeit by just one seat over the opposition coalition of Peoples Voice and groups of non-alligned independents. The CP leader Juán Maria Gonzales has spoken out against the deal as "inappropriately expensive and grossly against the moral teachings of our islands"

Were the deal to collapse, a situation the SDP government is passionately working against, the multi-million Cym deal could see hundreds of jobs lost across the nation.
