The Overlord Returns... [attn: Mars]

Long ago, in a place called 'Europe', there was a nation. Well... more like a psychotic dictatorship that managed to turn a profit. It came complete with all the standard amounts of torture, oppression, mass killings, wars for no real reason and (naturally) a psychotic dictator. This one was named Davion Varchak and he had an affinity for pissing off the various non-human nations (and their allies) that were scattered about.

But, times change and empires fall and Varchak was thought dead. Then he came back and took over another nation. And then he was run off and said to be killed again.

But a man like Varchak is hard to get rid of so easily... some always thought he'd return again.

They were right.

Approaching the fourth planet of Sol came a sight few would have expected. A small space fleet was approaching Mars with immense cargo ships in amongst them, all of them reading full of people or equipment. They appeared to be of a style not used in well over a century, their origin listed as being from Crimmond. But none were broadcasting the Empire's IFF codes like the ships around Earth. In fact, they weren't broadcasting anything at all...

As they came closer, a visual transmission was sent to "the honorable governments of Mars. And Roania too."

Standing on the bridge of one of the cruisers is a grinning man, who has much reason to be grinning... considering he was thought to be long dead. "Hello boys and girls... Varchak's back in town!" He laughs maniacally for a couple seconds and quickly composes himself. "Now, as you can all see... I'm heading towards you with all kinds of people and fancy pants equipment. And it all seems to be for establishing a colony. And, since I've noticed three sights that are ripe for colonization, I figured I might just drop in and see if we humble Baggerans could set up shop. Now, I would very much prefer the sight nearest my dear sweet friends the Roanians... but the other two would do in a pinch." He grins some more, as he transmits a map with the three sights highlighted. (http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/3447/mapofmarsmh1.jpg)

-----

As the transmission ended, Davion lost the grin instantly. "This better work. I'm not going to wander around the solar system for the rest of my life."

"It will work, sir. I assure you... After all, only the Roanians have cause to hate you. And I doubt that one nation's protests will keep us off the planet." said another voice, to his side.

Davion looked over at his number two man and chuckled. "Indeed, Rasputin. Indeed. And Mars still has much open space to exploit... and no one exploits an opportunity like we can." He laughed again and looked towards the main viewer, wondering just what kind of reply he'd get. Likely insults from the Roanian, but that was a given. It was the other nations he was curious about. As far as he could remember, few of them ever had dealings with Baggera or Crimmond, when it was under his rule for a period. "All I need is a crater, a viable colony and soon... soon we will become the powerhouse economic power we were on Earth. Things are looking up for me again!" He grinned again, this time genuinely. At his side, Rasputin II suppressed a sigh. How he got roped into this, he would never figure out.

Some kid's bedroom, Epsilon Two, the Unione of Capitalizt States of Austar Union

" Hey Lars, check this out, " joked one teenager to another. " This guy's just too intense! "

A sock was thrown in his direction, " Hey, what was that for?! "

The group of youth who were illegally monitoring encrypted traffic banded around the device that the original was playing with.

" Holy crap who is this guy? " snickered one of them. " Captain of the Starship Enterprise? "

They all laughed.

*~*~*

Normally, a drone from the M.P.A. would have come along by now and provided the nessasary direction for what was usually traffic which found itself lost in the abyss. This time however, it took a moment longer--ever since the Sunsetii 'Planetary Defensive Ring' had been built visitors to The Planet Mars had been far and few in between. To say the least, on-board systems which had by now fallen asleep were suddenly awoken by the drone's exterior sensors, which put their most useful components into action.

For the Baggerian craft, nothing would be different--it seemed upon analysis that their information on the firey red planet (probably a mix green and blue by now) was outdated, nigh completely useless. It was even doubtful that they knew of the M.P.A., and any structures and protocols which now existed since the time of their last interest.

A cruiser approached.

<Contact Initiated... Transmitting...>
<Attention Unidentified Baggerian Space-Vehicle, this is MPA-Artificial Intelligence Cruiser-Drone AIE.771.629. Welcome to Mars. From your transmitted enquiry it appears that you are interested in developing and maintaining territory, on behalf of a currently non-holdings government. This drone recommends a best course of action of: proceeding to an intra-national body of currently holdings governments called the Mars Port Authority (http://z4.invisionfree.com/The_Planet_Mars/index.php?showforum=16), located at the Martian Duma, which handles such matters. Coordinates have been attached to this transmission.>
<It also appears that the documentation you have on The Planet Mars has been superceeded with new information. Please find attached the updates (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b370/AustarUnion/mapofmars.jpg) you will find nessasary as per your enquiry. Thank you.>
The Garbage Men

The Garbage Men Depot was in orbit around the red planet servicing the waste, sanitation and other associated services that the corporation provided to it's clientele below on the planet below.

The existance of a ship in orbit, any ship, was always a concern but this one was certainly an taken as a serious concern. It seems an MPA Drone had been in contact with them and no hostile action had been taken either against the drone or by it.

Perhaps, just perhaps, they had a new client. Information was relayed about what was happened but for now the corporation just observed.

Varchak glared at Rasputin. "Way to make me look like an idiot on my first day." He commented. "You told me your information was up to date!" He waved off an excuse and signaled for the small fleet to come to a halt outside of the traffic lanes. An acknowledgment was sent to the drone, but nothing more until the official communication to the MPA. (http://z4.invisionfree.com/The_Planet_Mars/index.php?showtopic=1135&st=165&#entry3931077)

Once that was done, Davion waited again... curious that he hadn't just been attacked out of hand. Perhaps there was a chance he'd get in.
