OOC: I am posting this so everyone will know how and why my RP style is the way it is. So here we go:
Nation Facts:
Name: Sarusania
Full name: The Republic of Sarusania
Capital: Saru City
Population: 32 million
Location:West Africa Coast
Languages: English (de facto official), French, ethnic Saru tribal language, Arabic (rare, spoken only in the southwest).
Denonym: Saru, Sarui
Demographics: 65% Black African Sarus (All are of only one tribe, the Sarus), 35% White Sarus
Division: By Provinces, which have few localized powers but will inherit more under the new coalition in power.
Governmet and Politics:
Government type: Constitutional Parliamentary Republic
Political Parties: Communist Party of Sarusania (Marxist)-Far Left
People's Democratic Party-Socialist, Democratic Socialist
Saru National Congress-Center, Center-Left
Saru Christian Democrats-Center, Center-Right
Saru National Party (Nationalists or Nationals)- Far Right
Legislative Body: Saru National Parliament (Unicameral, representation is based off of population of each province).
Judicial: Constitutional Court-Highest Judicial Power in Sarusania
Chief of State: President of the Republic, although the President has very few powers, which include Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, being a tie-breaker in voting, dissolving parliament upon elections, and allowing pardons for criminals. Other than that, the President is a ceremonial role. The President serves one term of 7 years.
Current President: Tomas Wambua (Formerly with the PDP, but now is an Independent politician).
Most executive power is excercised through a Prime Minister, who is the head of government and Parliament. The Prime Minister is elected amongst a vote by his or her party if their party is elected.
Current Prime Minister: Draman Francois (SNC)
Deputy Prime Minister: Ryan Devlin (SCD) -Devlin is currently the co-leader along with Fracois in a two party coalition. His appointment is the first time a white Saru citizen has been the Deputy PM since the end of colonialism and the first time the Prime Minister and his Deputy were from opposite parties.
