Kostemetsian Elections - Constituencies Selling Cheap

Kostemetsia

First note: Alright. As at the present time, Kostemetsia has sixteen constituencies. Everyone who signs up will be (in-character secretly) given a constituency and a vote for the Kostemetsian leadership team. Team candidates are as follows.

---

SITTING LEADERSHIP TEAM: Nightwatchman Party
President Fleurette van Dijk / Vice-President Raj Chopra
General Secretary James Bovill / Lieutenant Secretary Mathilde Hagen
The Nightwatchman Party's policies are not focused towards any one goal in particular except the constant compression of government and the increased defence of the people.

They have been in power for one term. Should they be re-elected, they have promised a number of items: gigantic tax cuts and a full investigation into the prior administration's monetary policies, which saw senior officials receiving several-million-argentar bonuses at the taxpayer's expense. They have also promised to lay the hulls for hundreds of new Navy ships and devote more money to the Commonwealth Defence Force.

The Nightwatchman Party's advantage is that they walk a fine line between socialist and conservative, and are apparently successful in doing so; on the other hand, they cannot satisfy everyone, and there has been widespread conflict between them and the two predominant Social and Conservative factions in Kostemetsia.

CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE: Liberal Party
President Zhou Shi / Vice-President Mitsuko Kobayashi
General Secretary Jang Jin / Lieutenant Secretary Maximo Castillo
The Conservative Party denounces the Nightwatchman Party's policies as weak, ineffective and slow. It advocates the freeing of businesses to do as they wish, and promises corresponding tax cuts. It also promises the expansion of the Defence and Intelligence services.

Under a Conservative rule, the economy would be deregulated significantly, and trade both internally and externally would be prioritised. This tends to lead to increased international interaction, and many of Kostemetsia's most revered allies were met during a period of Conservativism.

The Conservatives, however, have not always been successful; Kostemetsia is predominantly a socialist state, despite its claims of political neutrality, and Conservative policies, while the people (some grudgingly) acknowledge their generation as sensible, there is much dislike and passive resistance to those decisions that the majority sees as unacceptable.

LIBERAL CANDIDATE: Commonwealth Labour Party
President Dietfried Mayer / Vice-President Koen Wouters
General Secretary Ivona Horak / Lieutenant Secretary Malene Rasmussen
Labour has a similar conflict with the Nightwatchman Party, saying the Nightwatchman policies unnecessarily restrict popular freedom. It advocates civil rights and political freedoms at the expense of almost all else, and it does seem rather devoted to its work.

The Labour Party has always met with widespread support, and has never dropped out of the political mainstream. Its policies appeal to a majority of the Kostemetsian people, who themselves prompted many of its more freedom-enhancing policies.

However, it must be taken into consideration that under a Labour administration, the Government may not always do what is best for the People, instead preferring to focus on the maintenance of human rights even when there are issues at hand that the people tend to agree are more important. Additionally, a Labour rule would hurt the financial sector, as Government investigators would be quick to step in on any suspicion of human rights violations, and meticulously fanatical about their jobs. This might seem a "if you follow the law, you have nothing to fear" policy, but many speak in hushed tones of the 2950s Depression where several major businesses were removed from the scene by the stink that the very rumour of an investigation created.

The Forde constituency can see right through the Nightwatchman party. If there's going to be gigantic tax cuts yet increased defense spending, then this means other areas such as healthcare, education, and social welfare programs, among others are risking dramatic budget cuts in order for the Nightwatchman to achieve their objective.

Therefore, the Forde's are overwhelmingly in support of the liberals, and in fact, the labour party slides in as the second choice, to boot.

OOC: Since many Australian names have gone and there are only a few left it apears I must choose one of them.

Since one of them was a Labor PM (even if it was only for a week) I won't take him, since my constituency will be voting liberal, Flynn yeah nah Herburt was a premier (perhaps I might) then I will take Griffith, a father of Federation.

IC: The majority of people in Griffith support Liberal.

Elections Over: Nightwatchmen Win By a Nose
Lucia I. Bengtsson

ALVA, Vanja --
The Internal Affairs Sub-Executive today announced the results of the Kostemetsia-wide Leadership vote of November 4. The elections see the popular Nightwatchman Party (KNP) slip in by a nose at 46.67 percent of the vote, showing an advantage over the Liberal Party (LPC), who came a close second with exactly forty percent of the vote.

The typically Labour constituencies of Bonner and Bowman slipped over to Nightwatchman, local officials citing widespread support of the Nightwatchmen's policies. Conversely, the formerly pro-Nightwatchman constituencies of Forde and Griffith predominantly voted Liberal.

There have been rumours of international interference with yesterday's election - sharp words have flown between locals and immigrants as the debate over interference (particularly that of Naggeroth, the Kewen, Greal and Fenix) continues on the Judicial Panel. The re-elected Leadership, however, aren't complaining; the Courier-General today managed to coax a few words from ex-Navy officer James Bovill, twenty-eight-year-old General Secretary of the Nightwatchman government, as he made his way up the imposing stairs outside the Inner Office.

Mr Bovill has stated: "Yes, there will definitely be change in the Nightwatchman policies this time around, we've noticed a whole lot of people are calling us ineffective, and that says a bit about our government. The rest of the Leadership team are currently implementing our new policies, which include a big increase in Defence spending and a full investigation, that is, ah, the Nguyen Inquiry, into the, ah, the Jonsson administration, that's the former Liberal President, Gudmund Jonsson, and their financial mismanagement."

Other Leadership officials have refused to say anything at this time, but Mr Bovill assures us that this is a temporary phase, citing Leadership safety concerns.

And you call yourself an Australian.

lol with Labour being such a minor party in your country they might have wanted to join forces unless they are the Democrats. Both of those parties did have issues with the Nightwatchmen party
