Kwik Cricket World Series Thread
Docky is creating the Qwik Cricket World Series, and hosting the first competition. All nations are welcome to sign up to Kwik Cricket, but first we will go over the rules:
Each team has 10 players. In batting, pairs do 2 overs each. Each out is -5 points. Each player of the bowling side must bowl one over, including the wicket keeper, whose place will need to be taken whilst bowling.
Role-playing helps your team, but must be done a lot to have a real impact. Registration period ends 2nd November
Everyone who wants to register must register:
Nation Name
10 players in batting pairs (Labelling wicket keeper and back-up wicket keeper)

I am interested, the rules sounds similar to Indoor.
I will refrain from making a roster untill there is some more interest.

I have no time right now, but since this is presumably only starting after the 2nd of November I should be able to get involved. I've been meaning to get Walmingtonian cricket off the ground. I just assume that we have a first-class cricket competition and would be a test-playing nation if I could be bothered... maybe it's time to get things started.
No doubt taking part in something that isn't 'proper' cricket will also cause no end of controversy and fussing in Walmington, so that's an added point of interest =)
Yes this will start after 2nd Nov.

Shame there are so many Yanks and not enough people form the Commonwealth on here. NO offence to the Yanks I like most of you guys.

^^^yanks play cricket....its just that cricket isnt baseball, basketball or gridiron, and to a lesser extent hockey and lacrosse, so they dont give a crap about it.

WoS Kwik Cricket 10
(Wicket keeper and second wicket keeper indicated)
Ambrose Beaupre
Geoffrey Barnhill (W)
Granville Astill
Grover Bottomley (W2)
Clark Denman
Claude Ebelthite
Jimmy Wintour
Dudley Foakes
Bishop Yelling
Marion Thurlow
Notes: Barnhill and Bottomley are both wicketkeepers for their county sides, meaning that we have at least two hopeless bowlers. The selection was made because, while Barnhill is Walmington's top-rated keeper, Bottomley is that rarest of things in behind-the-times Walmington, a genuine wicketkeeper-batsman. Many of the Walmingtonian players are amatures, as the professionalisation of cricket is still a touchy subject in the country. Some top players -mostly amatures, but some professionals as well- declined to take part due to Kwik Cricket's negative image in WoS. Barnhill (wicket) and Yelling (fast-medium) are both fixtures in the national one-day side, and likely to be included in the new test side, while a few others in the side have been capped once or twice, and some only made the side due to a lack of interest from higher-rated players.
Walmington would be interested in some bi-national competition. WoS is a very old-fashioned nation, more English than the English, and the idea of 20/20 and indeed Kwik Cricket is controversial to say the least. WoS would like to become a test playing nation, so if you like, Kjomasasopia could be our first opponents.
On yanks and cricket... anyone know why the ICC suspended the US team?
Walmington sees America's rejection of cricket -after Central Park had been filled with cricket pitches and Washington was said to have been an avid cricketer (it has even been suggest that, when trying to decide whether America should have a king or an emperor or what the heck else, that someone pointed out, 'well, if cricket clubs can have presidents...', and frankly I do hope that's true, however unlikely)- as a sign of, 'the degenerate nature of the rebel colonies and their occupied territories' as our Prime Minister put it, and considers baseball essentially criminal for its part in slandering cricket to the brink of extinction by negatively associating it with the British nobility.
Serious business, is cricket.

Is this a rhetorical question or are you asking? Because I certainly don't know why or even that they did.

Indeed it is, though Washington being an avid cricketer may have been true he was "English" after all and I hope the story is true. Shame the Yanks decided to make baseball, I suppose that it is more simple for them.

On yanks and cricket... anyone know why the ICC suspended the US team?
"The United States of America Cricket Association was suspended by the ICC for — among other things — failure to hold office-bearers elections under the terms of a new constitution. However, as of April 1st, 2008, the necessary reformations have been made under the supervision of the West Indies Cricket Board and the ICC has welcomed the USACA back into the council." from what I can find.
Also we'll send a team along.

1st Test: Kili Kili Cricket Club
2nd Test: Zuzic Cricket Club
3rd Test: Snowplane Cricket Club
ODI: Lrinlrac Cricket Club
T20:Emperors Garden Cricket Club
I went with Kwik Cricket rather than normal because I'm not exactly an experienced member. Docky would send a team to a real cricket tournemant after this tournemant has finished
6 teams, we need 2 more.
The draw will be done on 2nd November 10:00 GMT. The first matches will be on the 4th. The 4th November is the deadline for squads, but if not evryone has sent in squads, i'll just do it without giving players scores.

Yes it is 10am. And you can send other nations, or you could send the indigenous people as a B team.
It would be very useful if you do send another team, because then we will have 7 teams competing, and I have another nation I can send.

You could always just use generic names for the players of those who didn't submit a squad list, if you did want to down the road of individual scores.

Though interest in the Kwik Cricket World Series was limited across Walmington on Sea, where most sporting eyes were turned to the Empire Test between the home islands and the Cape Colonies, The Standard courted controversy by daring to cover the first game, all be it in a small column subordinate to the Burnhampshire vs. Westonshire rugby union clash and speculation over the health of Walmington's greatest ever (read, 'only proficient') ice hockey player, Regie Whiteside.
The fact that the Seasiders recorded the highest score of any side in the competition in the opening fixture bodes well, opines the nation's favourite broadsheet, though a degree of Walmingtonian introspection is betrayed by the writer's apparent confusion of their opponents, the Blouman Empire, with the Blue Man Group, leading him to temper the achievment with a reminder that the Walmingtonians were after all only playing a bunch of smurfs.
((Haven't gone into more detail yet as I'm not sure if you're still planning to post a break-down of what players did what, or if I should just do it myself based on the total scores. Anyway, up the Seasiders!))
