The following 25 countries have all expressed interest in participating in the seventh WorldVision song contest. As the time of year when the contest will go on draws closer, it is now time for these countries to select what song they will be entering into the contest. All that needs to be posted here is your song's title and artist, although one can also tell how the song was selected, whether it was a televised contest, a jury vote, an internal selection, or some other strange process. It's your country, do whatever you want!

Abdul: "Welcome back to the Qazox WorldVision Finals! I'm your host, Simon Abdul, and we are down to the final two songs, both written by the same person; Henritta Guyson. But which of her two songs will win? Will it be "Qazian Anthem 1945" or "Bruxen Rhapsody"? Find out....after this commercial break!

<Shows commercials for Tickets to the Oxen Cup Semifinals and Finals, and Ganja Vodka>

Abdul: "And we're back, once again. We only know that Henritta Guyson will be going to wherever the finals will be held, but which of her songs will be chosen? I have in my hand, the final online vote, from QWV.com. Remember that the online vote counts as only 50% of the final tally, while the other 50% of the vote comes from our 5 secret judges, who will be joining me on stage right now!"

<The 4 of the 5 judges come out>

Abdul: "Introducing first, the CEO of QazRecords, the #1 rap record producer in Qazox, Flava Sava! The 2nd judge, host of the #1 Qazoxian radio show, Howard Imus! The 3rd judge is the President and CEO of QOX Broadcasting, Murdoch Rupert! The 4th judge is Juila O'Dool, the top-selling artist of all time, in Qazox at least, with over 21 million records sold! And the mysterious 5th judge, Myself, Simon Abdul! Each of our votes will count for 10% of the vote, which will be added to the % of the Online votes, to determine the winning song.. which we'll do, right after this commerical."

<Shows Commercials for the WorldVision 7 contest, and Qaz Airlines>

Abdul: "We're back, and I promise you, NO more commericals, until the winning song is chosen. Now for the judges votes, Show them on the screen:

Flava Sava: Bruxen Rhapsody
Howard Imus: Qazian Anthem 1945
Murdoch Rupert: Bruxen Rhapsody
Juila O'Dool: Qazian Anthem 1945
Simon Abdul: Qazian Anthem 1945

Ok so to recap, Qazian Anthem 1945 has 30%, Bruxen Rhapsody has 20%. If more than 42% of the online vote is in favor of Qazian Anthem 1945, that song will win, if it is less, then Bruxen Rhapsody will win. Let's see the results:

<Screen shows both songs, with fluctuating numbers along side, until it stops fluctuating.>

Bruxen Rhapsody: 53.7%
Qazian Anthem 1945: 46.3%

The winning song with a combined total of 53.15% of the vote, is: Qazian Anthem 1945! And Henritta Guyson, come on out here!"

<Henritta Guyson comes out from backstage>

Abdul: "Henritta, out of 1300 entries that were sumbitted, which were cut down to 40, You had 3 in the top 40. After the first cut of 20, you still had you 3 entries, and once we got down the the final 10, you were the only person to have had 2 songs make it this far. Were you suprised?"

Guyson: "I was shocked that any of them make it to the top 40. and I alomst had a heart attack last night, when it was announced that I had both of the Top 2 songs."

Abdul: "Of the 2 songs that made it to the finals, was "Qazian Anthem 1945" the one you thought was going to win?

Guyson: "No, I didn't. In fact, of my 3 entries, I though it was the worst, but once they find out where the competition will be held, I'll do my best to make sure it wins!"

Abdul: "Thank you Qazox for voting and watching over this past two weeks. We'll see you at the WorldVision Finals!"

"And this news just in _
Votes have now been tallied for the first round in BABC's 'Song for the Bears' contest, and the eight songs that will continue onwards into next week's national final have been announced. They are:

By Urralintha, from Clan BerryGlades, a ballad by the title of "Long Live Friendship";

by a new 'rock' group who call themselves 'ThunderBears Are Go!', from Clan WestWoods, a song called "At The Olympics";
by the Cartwright Family, from the Trath-Surra Clan, a humorous song about things that could happen to interfere with everyday life that they've given the title "You've GOT to laugh";
by a so-far anonymous group of Eightwayist monks from the monastery in the lands of Sept Derram, an unaccompanied choral perfomance of a specially-composed hymn "All Can Find The Way";
by another 'rock' group, Council Groves's own The Silverlocks's, a lively piece called "Outta town / Intta joy";
and by Orrwan pa Urrwan, a teacher from amongst the 'Kwermbrynyr' people of the western Northlands, an inspirational work by the title of "Long indeed is the lonely valley, and dark are the shadowéd fir-woods along the lower slopes of the high hills that line it, but I will follow the sparkling waters upstream to their source in search of wisdom".

This is Elga o Eastdale bringing you the news, every watch, on the watch, for the Bears Armed Broadcasting Corporation."

LIVE FROM THE IMPERIAL HIPPODROME

It's the Holy Empire Song Contest

With Basil and Theo!

"Hi there! I'm Basil!"

"And I'm Theo!"

"And we've temporarily put aside our footballing duties to host the second-ever national Imperial song contest!"

"Which means we have to pretend we're really, really excited!"

"And use lots of exclamation marks!"

"Anyway, Basil, following a directive from the Imperial Secretariat of the Purple Inkwell, most of tonight's songs are either directly obsessed with sex, or deal with sex in a disappointingly immature oblique manner."

"That's right, Theo. Seems ISPI have decided that all of the mundies in Ordinary Reality are completely sex-obsessed, and that our best chance of winning this competition lie in pandering to their basest instincts."

"And why not? So, with no further ado, let's launch into the very first song. It's the three nubile young sexpots of Sweet Sixteen, and their catchy little pop number Daddy's Big Lollipop!"

Daddy's got a really big lollipop
He showed it to me last night
I tried to lick down to the white creamy centre
I promised that I wouldn't bite

"Well, Theo, I bet that set the pulses racing with the dirty old man brigade! Next up, it's the thrash hardcore trio Patrick O'Toole and the Prince Alberts - drummer Huang Hau Loh and bassist Mr. Big - with their catchy 90 second speedcore number Thor the Mighty Hammer God"

Feel the power of Mjolnir
IT'S A MIGHTY HAMMER!
Feel the power of Mjolnir
WOMEN BOW AND WORSHIP!

"Next, Basil, appearing for the first time in public since their disastrous outing at the World Cup 34 opening draw ceremony, it's everybody's favourite underdressed fivesome the Cheap Slutty Bimbos with Would Ya?"

Would ya dump ya girlfriend just to sleep with me?
Would ya dump ya girlfriend for hot sex with me?
Would ya?
Oh yeah, would ya?

"Changing the pace entirely, we have jazz torch singer Lauren Bogart with her pianist Humphrey Bacall, and they're going to do a jazzy little number for us called Put Your Lips Together and Blow"

You know, Humph, you're not hard to figure.
Only at times, only at times.
Sometimes I know exactly what you're going to say -
Most of the time. Most of the time.

The other times you're just a stinker.

You know you don't have to act with me, Humph.
You don't have to say anything
You don't have to do anything.
Not a thing, not a thing.

Oh, maybe just whistle.

You know how to whistle, don't you, Humph?
You just put your lips together - and blow.

"You know, Basil, that was actually quite classy."

"I'm stunned, Theo. Not sure how that little number made it through. My money was on the bimbos or Sweet Sixteen, but that might just sneak through!"

"But let's hear the next song. And it's a self-aware piece of post-modern pop-culture citing irony from popular metal band Single Entendre, who bring us The Juvenile Sexist Metal Song."

You're sweet but you're just four feet and you still got your baby teeth
And when you hear your master, you will come a little faster
My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo
Let me put my love into you, babe - let me cut your cake with my knife

"Sheer raw metal power, Theo. Finally, in a concession to intellectualism, we've been forced to allow University Madrigal Choir of The Imperial University
to enter with some number called The Crisis of Dreamed Realm Historiography."

In a realm where reality is malleable
And time is often non-linear
How can any university history student
Compile a coherent annotated historiography?

"Ummmm..... right. Anyway, moving swiftly along, it looks as if we've shifted timelines in the Hippodrome, and the rest of the Empire's had a chance to vote! The results are....."

"IT'S A TIE!!!!! Amazing!!!! Both Daddy's Big Lollipop and Put Your Lips Together and Blow have received one billion and one votes each."

"Which means we have a tie-breaker, Basil!"

"That's right, Theo.... Isaac the Prince Imperial will pull the name of the winning entry out of a cat."

"Out of a hat, Basil?"

"No, Theo.... out of a cat. A dead one. Don't know why, but it's long-standing Imperial tradition. And his royal highness reaches into the still-warm and steaming gut of the recently-slaughtered feline, and pulls out a name.... and it's..."

"It's....."

"It's....."

"Lauren Bogart and Humphrey Bacall with the jazztastic torch song Put Your Lips Together and Blow!"

Once again (yes, the same introduction, but that's because the way of choosing the Cafundéu's representative song is the same!), the national finals in Cafundéu were divided in three days, each of them with the participation of different groups with different music styles. After that, the decision was divided in three parts:

2- famous musicians that weren't participating voted in the second part. The winner wins 2 points too / 2nd wins 1 point.

3- music experts voted. In this part, the winner wins 3 points / 2nd wins 2 points

The announcement happened in the Opala Hall, the second biggest in the city of Lasft (it isn't the one that would host the WorldVision if Cafundéu is chosen as host, as that one is located in Cafundó do Juta. The name is the same only because they are owned by the same company - the publishing company 25 de Maio). This time, the rock star Vlad Cassete announced the results:

"Now we reach the second part! Two of the voters voted in the last edition, and three are new. They are: famous country singer Juliano César, drums player Neto Baiano, popular singer Murilo Souza, TV presenter Breno Gavião and reggae singer Edson Coins. To the results:"

Famous People Voting

1- "The Fee" - Erik Stock Market (Hard Rock) - 3 votes
2- "Through the Plains" - Reberto Carros (MPC) - 1 vote
2- "Moon" - group Sambacanção (Samba/Pagode) - 1 vote

"And we reach the last part, the most important, babe, with the votes of the music experts. To the results:"

Terreiro de Ogum

The full moon appears on the sky, a group of people with white clothes is in a dirt garden. They kill a black chicken, drink some cachaça and start singing. Finally, one of them shouts:

"Orixás, hear me! Give us the best song in the world, one that will make you proud of us!"

Suddenly, a paper falls from the sky... later, musical instruments fall too, with the people running away from them, so they won't fall in their heads.

"So, this is the song that will send your divine strength?"

"So be it, then. May the Orixás guide us to an excellent participation!"

Welcome to Channel Seven ladies and gentlemen, and the Alexandrian Ptolemais Music Competition final. As you all know, we have been voting over the last two months and shrunk the number of entrants from 96 right down to the final 2. Which one is going to make it to WorldVision 7. Will it be Alexandrian Frog? Will it be Brown Power? You can still decide, the lines are still open so ring 0800-923432-236547 for Alexandrian Frog, and 0800-923432-236548 for Brown Power. Now we will be going to an ad break...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: I was going to do this anyway, so it wasn't stolen from Qazox

Ad One:

A pair of children frolick through the field, followed by a happy middle aged couple, and then a couple of people with walking sticks
Your children enjoy a good life; a good education; a high standard of healthcare. You enjoy a good job; a high standard of healthcare, infrastructure that would make other nations envious, and a moderate tax regime. Your parents enjoy a solid retirement, the knowledge that their savings are secure. Do you really want to put that in jeopardy?

Give two ticks to the Nationalist Party on October 25

Said very quickly "This ad has been authorised by John Brown, 44 George Street, Ptolemais"

Ad Two:

Want cheap travel these holidays? Book a fare with Empire Railways; starting only from half a Gold Denarius to Alexandria, and competitive fares to all other centres. You will enjoy a scenic trip through mountains, rivers, and ultimately the sea on our new high speed trains.

Ad Three:

Twenty years of experience is what they say - but what they don't want you to know is the truth. The truth is that the poor are screaming out for a hand up. The truth is that people with alternative lifestyles are constantly being thrown into prison and shown the gallows. The truth is that twenty years of Nationalist Government has not helped the ordinary citizen. The truth is that Labour presents a better solution for governance. Give a tick to equal rights. Give a tick to the poor. Give two ticks to Labour

Said very quickly: "This ad has been authorised by Frank Burns, 216 Albert Street, Alexandria"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome back ladies and gentlemen. The lines are now closed and the votes are being tallied up. Let's look back through some of the moments in this year's competition. Our first moment had to be when Rail Gunzel came through and sang a song about Butter Chicken.

*clip of Rail Gunzel

Needless to say, you must have enjoyed it, because they made it to the final four! How about this folk group from Hamilton Island, the Island Commandos

*clip of Island Commandos

Their song may have been terrible in content and really testing the censorship laws, but their costumes made it very amusing. Anyways, we have the final tally - with 2,454,349,324 votes is Alexandrian Frog; but the overall winner is

Brown Power with 2,829,200,343 votes. Brown Power, and their song, I Bashed a Girl (OOC: Yep, this is a parody of I Kissed a Girl) will be making it through to WorldVision 7. A big round of applause to Brown Power, and we will be broadcasting highlights of WorldVision 7 at 9pm on Channel 7. Now stick with us, as Jimmy James and Danielle Stone star in tonights movie - "The Fat Man"

"Damn, WorldVision again... we have to pick another song. And how the hell do this?"

"I don't know, maybe hold a contest thing and pick the entry off a list?"

"No, that's what we did for contest, that one ended in disaster. Can I get a second-last place?"

"Okay... and we tried writing our own, that also sucked... I know, send something that's popular right now, and hope the other countries like it as well."

"And, well, what is popular right now? That stupid vampire group from last year? The Wijaskan masses have really bad taste. We're not going to get points for sujecting the rest of the world to it..."

"Let's see, this one doesn't seem to fucked up... #15: Láska Jazmínki - Saríyzki"

"But that song in in Wijaskan! No-one will understand it!"

"We can have her sing an English version of it."

"Alright then. We have our WorldVision singer for this year. Now we just need to, well, get her to perform for us."
----
A WTV representative comes to Jazmínki's apartment to tell about the plan.

"So, yeah, we're from the WTV, Wijaska Television, and we've heard your new song..."

"Okay... what are you doing at my apartment?"

"Well, we heard your song, and we thought you should perform it for us at WorldVision"

"No. I don't do WorldVision. Go.

"But you're the only one who can win the contest for us! The people need you!"

"No they don't. I'm sure the people know how stupid WorldVision really is and-

The WTV rep. takes Jazmínki into a bag...

"We'd better get out of here, before they get security or something like that."

They exit onto the balcony, above one of the main city streets. The WTV rep looks down, trying to find a way out before the security comes...

"...so that leaves the top four, and we'll announce those right after this break."

And suddenly, the scene cuts to two different pundits seated around an oddly-shaped desk.

"What did you think of their performances?"

"Oh, about the usual. Wingspan are really going to be worth watching over the long term, though, after their recent shakeup."

"I still don't see why they swapped Pery and Sasaki."

"Well, they're trying to go for a more harmonic approach. They've been relying too much on lyrics, and the ability to play tenths on the keyboard would certainly help."

"Sure, but they could invest in a smaller synthesizer too. This will just throw off the chemistry."

"You may be onto something...but I'm not sure. Let's take a look at the graphics. (http://img376.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wv7gm9.png)"

"Lower sound out of Chantos there then we're used to."

"Yeah, the melodrama didn't go over too well, and the voters should pick up on that. But just look at how his range stacks up against Oid!"

"He's pushing the extremes, though. Oid has perfect sound all the way through, and let's face it, that's not what techno's all about."

"You may be on to something there-but we're out of time, so here are the results!"

And back to the familiar talking heads we go.

"...Why can't we have nice ad breaks like all the normal countries?"

"And trust you with the analysis?"

"Whatever. In fourth place...Fritz Chantos with "Last Time". Hopefully it's the last time he enters."

"I liked it. Third place, Wingspan and "Envying the Rose"."

"We're sick of thesaurus rock?"

"We must be."

"Second place...phew. Oid's..."Ichi Zwei Trois"."

"What's so bad about that?"

"All it is is...what is it?"

"Counting from one to ten, in a bunch of different languages."

"Yeah, we're not that cosmopolitan. Which leaves..."

"Teagan Gremer, singing "Hats", hoping to defend Zwangzug's championship!"

"A female singers, took us long enough!"

"...What are you implying?"

"Nothing."

"Yeah, okay."

"It's just...strange...that, um, that female singers with a couple instrumentalists behind them are considered soloists, while male singers with a couple instrumentalists behind them are so frequently considered a band."

"...Whatever you say."

<On stage, a group of singers dressed in costumes evoking different types of cheese complete their choreographed dance routine, as a fast-paced song draws to an end. Whistles, applause and shouts of support erupt from the audience below, as the camera pans toward two young and photogenic presenters, Piero and Melissa.>

Piero: "And that was Crossed Wires, with their entry 'Melted Yellow'."

Melissa: "According to the crowd, that was a stellar performance!"

<The spectators launch into loud cheers again at the remark.>

Piero: "Remember to vote by calling 0800-2322-VOTE, or send an SMS to 0800-2322-TEXT with your choice of artist."

Melissa: "Alternatively, you can visit our web site at www.rtv.rc/worldvision and cast your vote there."

Piero: "Polls close in approximately three minutes, so take your chance and vote now! We'll be back with the results after the break."

<A commercial break is televised with advertisements from Air Ruccola, Banca Sinitalia, Costa Olivieri and several other companies. Eventually, the broadcast resumes, with a focus on the stage, now illuminated in red, navy blue and white.>

Piero: "Welcome back to Arugula Arena, where the national final for the WorldVision Song Contest is taking place!"

Melissa: "And now, the moment you've been waiting for… Who will be representing Ruccola at its WorldVision debut?"

<She takes out an envelope and slowly opens it, careful not to change her facial expression.>

Melissa: "The winners of this contest are… Cerulean, with their song 'Under a Full Moon'!"

<The mass of people packing the arena roar in delight, as confetti rains down on them from the ceiling above. The performers of the winning entry return to the stage, visibly elated.>

Piero: "Congratulations! How do you feel about representing Ruccola at our first WorldVision contest?"

<Piero hands his microphone to one of the band members, who promptly speaks up.>

Band member: "Incredibly honoured. We can't believe it! Although I must admit, Crossed Wires did an excellent job as well!"

<The crowd breaks out into cheers again. The band member smiles, then passes the microphone back to Piero.>

Melissa: "And that's all for tonight. Thank you for joining us, and thank you to Cerulean, Crossed Wires and our guests for tonight's amazing performances!"

"Welcome back to the national finals of BABC's 'Song for the Bears' contest!
We are your hosts for this evening's show: I'm Alasbearr Thunder..."

"...and I'm Urra Lightning."

"Three days ago we broadcast a show in which, for the first time, all of you heard all eight of the songs that had come forward to this stage from the regional finals. Voting opened immediately after that programme finished, the votes in every region have now been tallied, and TONIGHT you will hear all eight songs again in an order based on their overall popularity. Now, Urra, tell our listeners exactly how the winning song was chosen..."

"Well, Alasbearr, the BABC and the Order of Bairrds -- who actually organised this contest on the ground -- agreed that the result should be determined in basically the same way as the international contest into which our winner will now progress will be _
The people in each of the eight regions into which the country is divided for broadcasting purposes, each of which has one song in these finals, were allowed to cast their individual votes for any songs apart from their own regions' ones: then, for the overall result, instead of just adding up all of the regional numbers of votes for each entry, each song was allocated a number of points from each region based on its popularity there... and it's the total numbers of points that the songs gained on that basis that's been used to identify the winner. Each song received 8 points from a region if it was the locals' first choice, 6 points if it came second there, 4 points if it came third, 3 points if it came fifth, 2 points if it came sixth, and zero points if it came seventh-&-last..."

"That's a rather complicated system for voting, Urra."

"Yes, Alasbearr, but given the differences in the regions' populations it was decided that this would be fairer than simply counting the totals of the individual votes that were cast for each entry. Anyway, it's done now, so here are the overall results.
In eighth place -- with just eighteen points, from the total of two hundred & twenty-four points that all of the regions put together allocated -- Orrwan pa Urrwan, of the Kwermbrynyr people, representing 'Eastern Northlands' region with an inspirational work by the title of "Long indeed is the lonely valley, and dark are the shadowéd fir-woods along the lower slopes of the high hills that line it, but I will follow the sparkling waters upstream to their source in search of wisdom"."

The cameras turn away from the hosts and on to the stage. A single Ursine, dark-furred and wearing long white robes, is standing beside a harp there. At a signal, he strikes a chord on the harp and then begins to sing. His song, punctuated occasionally by further short instrumental passages, is in the Kwermbrynyr dialect -- which few outsiders understand very well -- and is a solemn-sounding (some might even say 'mournful'...) piece that lasts for almost ten minutes.

"Well, Alasbearr, no prizes for guessing why that entry didn't do very well across the country as a whole, eh? And what was he doing representing the Eastern Northlands, when all of his Clan's territories are actually over in the 'Western Northlands' region, anyway?"

"Apparently he's actually based in NorthPort, which just falls into the 'Eastern' division, Urra, rather than in his ancestral homeland... and he managed to win the local nomination as a compromise candidate, originally, because the three Clans that have the greatest strengths there each listed him as their second choice -- after their own entrants -- rather than favour their political rivals..."

"I scent. Well, now on to the song that came seventh nationally: with twenty points, it's the Silverlockss -- from Council Groves, in the 'Central & Eastern' region -- with "Outta Town / Intta Joy"."

On stage now are a quintet of Ursines, each of them obviously from a separate racial stock but all of them with the fur on their scalps dyed silver, who are dressed in human-style suits (of a 1960s-ish cut). Three of them are carrying electric guitars, whilst the others have a drum-kit and a double bass respectively. At the signal they launch into a lively (but rather repetitive) pop-song, sung in English, about the pleasure of escaping town and getting out into the countryside "Yeah, yeah!"

"I can't understand why they scored so badly, Alasbearr: I really like their music..."

"According to the opinions sent in with the votes, Urra, it was because many people felt they simply aren't 'Ursine' enough to be true representatives for the nation... and of course very few of our listeners actually live in large towns, so this song's message may have been lost on many of them."

"Rarrgggh!. Oh well, on with the show. In sixth place, just scraping past the Silverlockss with twenty-one points, it's the Eightwayist monks and nuns of DerramDale Monastery in the 'Southern region, with "All can Find The Way"... a new hymn that was composed especially for this contest!"

Eight monks and the same number of nuns, all wearing orange robes, file onto the stage chanting quietly. The monks include two humans, and and the nuns a 'Hwa' (i.e. anthropomorphic Giant Panda), amongst the group's actual Ursine members. They arrange themselves so that the monks are standing at the left of the stage and the nuns at the right, each sub-group in a single line that's angled diagonally to face both the other group and the audience. When the signal to begin is given they burst into a quite exuberant piece of unaccompanied polyphonic singing, in standard Ursine, with call-&-response choruses in between the verses on which the two sub-groups sing mellifluously together.

"Now those I liked a lot, Urra, even though I'm an orthodox Ursian rather than an Eightwayist myself, and their placing so low was a real disappointment..."
"I think it might have been the 'not typically Ursine enough' factor again, Alasbearr... and several people said that, although they might have voted for this entry on its merits in a purely national competition, the low score that the human holy men of 'The Archregimancy' received in the last international contest suggested that this group wouldn't do very well at the 'Worldvision' stage so they chose ones that they thought would fare better there. For what it's worth, I rather liked them too.
Anyway, it's your turn to start making the announcements now."

"Hrr'mm. Very well. In fifth place, with twenty-three points, it's the the Cartwright Family -- from the Trath-Surra Clan, in the 'South-Central' region -- with a humorous song about things that could happen to interfere with everyday life to which they've given the title "You've GOT to laugh"..."

This group consists of a genuine family act, formed by a grandfather, one of his daughters and her husband, and four of that couple's offspring. They're all dressed in what many would see as a 'poor rustic' style (trousers for the males and smocks for the females, white bandanas with broad red spots, wide-brimmed straw hats, and no shoes).
The grandfather carries a bear-fiddle (a stringed instrument that's about the size of a cello, but that Ursines can play as though it was a violin), his daughter is sitting behind a hammered dulcimer, her husband carries an acoustic guitar, one of the cubs has a banjo, and the others have both recorders and assorted improvised-looking percussion instruments.
Their song is a very lively one, in both words & tune, and the audience in the studio laughs loudly at many of its lines (OOC: but unfortunately, as it's in Ursine -- I can't actually give you its words here ; if you've ever heard any recordings by the RL mock-'Hillbilly' group that was called 'Red Ingle and His Natural Seven' then that's the general style...)

At this act's conclusion the camera pans back to the show's hosts, who are both grinning widely and still tapping their feet in the tune's rhythm.

"And that WONDERFUL song brings us to half-way through the entries. We'll be back, with the four that you considered to be even BETTER, after this break..."

(An audience is waiting in the dark in a large concert hall. Suddenly, the lights pop on and the crowd starts clapping. Harm and Suzie, the hosts, enter the stage. Harm starts reading from his notes, in his charismatic way.)

Harm: Thank you for tuning in to the Nethertopian Live Broadcasting Channel! Welcome to Nethertopia's first national final for the WorldVision song contest 7! We've got a special program for you!

Suzie: We're live, from the OMEN! Tonight, YOU can vote on who get's to go to the final of WorldVision 7!

H: We've got one final contestant to... Wait, what? we only have one contestant?

S: That's right, Harm! Only one band was not horrible enough to make sure that the whole world wouldn't commit suicide when they played!

H: (mocking, not scripted) This is ridiculous... Why am I doing this, for Pete's sake?

S: (laughing) Ha ha ha, Harm, always the funny guy! We're going to take a break now, don't you dare touching your remote controller!

(Break)

S: And we're back, to hear the one and only contestant! Here's Burinators of Heaven with I Will Kill You in Your Sleep Tonight!

(Six long haired guys get on stage and make unrecognisable metal noise for three minutes.)

S: Well, that was... Interesting, to say the least. But now, ladies and gentleman, you can vote!

H: Wait, what? There's only one candidate and people should vote? For what?

S: To see if we even should sent that horrible song in.

H: Oh... Seems like a legitime reason to me.

S: And we're gone for another break, but stay tuned!

(Second break)

H: And we're back, for the conclusion of our show. We've got another performance for you, before we close the voting. Without further ado, We present you, Frans Oud!

(The Singer, also a Nethertopian football international, preforms his decent song. The crowd goes out of their mind.)

S: What a performance! Can't we send him?

H: Apparently not... But, the results have been counted and... 73,4% voted to not send them. Thank Go...

S: ... And that's not passed the 75% they needed not to get sent in! Burinators of Heaven goes to the WorldVision finals!

H: ...

(awkward silence)

H: Oh well... Let's get this over with. Thank you for tuning in to our WorldVision Nation finals. See you next time, in the unconfirmed Finals location.

Sorthern Northland
31-10-2008, 00:34
“....and that was the last act of the Sorthern Northland Worldvision National Final!”

“Thank God for that!”

“Thank a non-existent being for the end?”

“You know what I mean.”

“Right, so the end of the songs mean the start of the voting, the number is 0170-1093-984, and the lines are open in three, two, one.....”

“NOW!”

“That was my line you slani plurk!”

“Oh well, the lines are open for the next fifteen minutes, start casting your votes.”

“So let's have a look back at the songs. There were five which is a record for a Sorthern Worldvision National Final.”

“Well to be fair we have only had one or two public finals so far.”

“That's beside the point, Miguel. Anyway, you're a so call music expert, whilst we wait for the votes let's get your thought on the songs. First up was Captain Defect with his song, 'We Desperately Need A Song, Any Crap Will Do'.”

“Very long winded title. A novelty song that was written by the Captain when it became known we were taking a long time to decide our song. It tries to be a club banger type techno song. But it fails epically. Would be very surprised if it won.”

“Yes, interesting choice of name for the artist as well. Next song was 'Weekend' by The Miniskirts.”

“A typical type of Worldvision, not very good pop song. But the band are very attractive so it's definitely going for the horny male vote. Probably wouldn't do to well if it got voted to represent us. Too generic.”

“The next song was by every Goths favourite band, Gothic Soda Bread, and the song was 'Suicide'. Not the happiest song ever was it?”

“No not at all. Morbidly depressing in fact. The only positives about it are that the band have actually promised to commit suicide as part of their act if they compete in Worldvision.”

“Burt the Olive Farmer with 'The Donkey Song' was next up. Donkeys, Sorthern Northland, he's got this wrapped up surely?”

“Probably yes, quite a nice song as well. If you like people with broad country accents singing about their hard working donkey that is. Which most Sortherners do seem to like.”

“And then onto the last song of the night, Des O'Hara with 'Outside the Window'.

“A man, a guitar and a fireplace. That's the type of song this is. A sort of philosophical look out what's outside the window. If the mother of shocks does happen and 'The Donkey Song' doesn't win the vote, I suspect it will be this.”

“Right well that's all the songs talked about and well still have nine minutes and eighty-four seconds of voting left. What do we do?”

“Dunno, we could play a government propaganda film. Er I mean a documentary looking into what the government has done for the nation.”

“Excellent idea!”

*Government propaganda film is broadcast for the next nine minutes or so.

“Aren't the government fantastic?”

“They are indeed, so the lines are now closed and you have in your hands the results?”

“I do indeed.”

“Well don't keep us waiting. Seriously don't, I need to pay a cheque in and the bank closed in ten minutes.”

“In last place, Gothic Soda Bread, with just two percent of the vote.”

“In forth place, with with fifteen percent, The Miniskirts.”

“Third, with seventeen percent of the vote, it's Captain Defect.”

“And in second with twenty-three percent of the vote is....Des O'Hara.”

“Which means that the artist hopefully representing us in Beningrad will be, with a massive forty three percent of the vote, Burt the Olive Eating Farmer with 'The Donkey Song'!”

(An advert for 'Old Westwood'-brand Rock Treacle finishes...)

"Welcome back to the second half of the national finals of BABC's 'Song for the Bears' contest!
We are your hosts for this evening's show: I'm Alasbearr Thunder..."

"...and I'm Urra Lightning."

"And now for the final four entries in this competition _
In fourth place, with twenty-seven points from the total of two hundred & twenty-four points that all of the regions put together allocated, it’s newcomers 'ThunderBears Are Go!' — from Clan WestWoods, and representing ‘Western Mainland’ region — with a song about their experiences "At The Olympics".

On stage now are a group of six Ursines, three males and three females, four of whom have fur in various shades of brown and the other two clearly of ‘Black Bear’ ancestry. Their instruments are two electric guitars and an electric bass, a drumkit, a synthesizer, and a tenor saxophone, and they are all wearing sunglasses (in "cool" styles) as well as [deliberately] torn-looking trousers & shirts in various combinations & patterns of bright colours. When the signal to commence is given they burst into a loud, fast & furious ‘Rock’ riff, which continues for about a minute, and then the synthesizer-player — who is a black-furred male — starts to sing about how he and his friends went as spectators to the recent Olympics and what they saw (and did… and drank…) there. The guitarists and bassist provide backing vocals at some points during this song, which lasts for about four minutes, and the whole performance concludes with another three minutes of instrumental music during which each musician except for the synthesizer-player takes a solo.

"Hr’rmm, Alasbearr, that’s another song that I thought might have done even better than it actually has... and that I think would really go down very well with the international contest’s human listeners. Was its score a result of the ‘Not typically Ursine enough’ factor, again, do you think?”

“That could have been it, Urra, but I suspect that many of the voters were a bit disappointed that the lyrics didn’t say more about our athletes' successes during those Games too. I know that I was.
Still, I predict that they’re a group about whom we’ll probably hear a LOT more in the future…”

“Hr’rmm. Well, I certainly hope so. Now, which of the remaining three entries was it that only made it into third place?”

“That would be "Hunting the White Whale", by Clan SeaBear’s ‘Blue-Sails-&-Red-Timbers Crew’ and the ‘Western Northlands’ region. It’s a traditional-style ballad that recounts the true and adventurous story of a whaling voyage which some of that clan’s members undertook out into the Cruel Sea just a few years ago, and it’s scored thirty points to get this far.”

The previous group have been replaced under the spotlights by sixteen burly males, one of whom is apparently of ‘Polar’ origins although all of the others have brown fur instead: Eight of those ‘brown’ Ursines are wearing sea-boots and oilskin jackets, and carrying oars, whilst another two share the same garb but are carrying harpoons instead. The other five ‘brown’ Ursines, in ‘shore’ clothing of trousers & jackets in denim or leather, are the musicians: Two of them have bear-fiddles, two drums, and the last an accordion. The ‘Polar’ Ursine carries nothing at all, and is actually unclad…
Their song is performed chorally (or, some people might say, “bellowingly”… ) in the ‘Ursine’ language, with no solos, and is accompanied by a stomping dance during which the ‘rowers’ and ‘harpooners’ perform various ‘drill’ moves with their implements in between sections when they act out the pursuit of the “white whale” from the song’s title… who is portrayed by the one white-furred member of their crew. He jigs ahead of & around them, turning inwards from time to time and striking blows that — although he is really pulling his punches — “fell” one harpooner and several of the rowers before he himself is brought down by the “surviving” harpooner and carried “home” triumphantly by the remaining dancers. This conclusion is met by a VERY loud roar of applause.

“Whew! Well, Urra, you can’t say that that performance didn’t deserve a high place in the results.”

“Oh, yes, I can! The whole routine was so out-of-date that I could almost see mould growing on it, and I assure you that most she-ursines aren’t by any means as fond of adventure-songs as you males seem to assume…”

“Oh. Matter of opinion, I suppose. Well, anyway, that brings us to the top two songs, and Urra will now give you the details for both of them again before we announce which one has actually won this competition.”

“Thank you, Alasbearr.
The two highest-scoring entries are the two from our country’s pair of ‘Heartlands’ regions _
From the ‘Northern Heartlands’, and more specifically Clan GreenWoods, it’s a ‘folk’ group called Fishbone Harp with a re-working — which they’ll be singing in English, for the international market — of that traditional song “Honey in the Jar”. They were a surprise for this contest’s organisers, because almost everybody expected Clan GreyBear’s singer-guitarist Merrabarr White to win their regional competition instead with his love-song “Smell the Longing”, and they’ve already done rather better than expected in this round too as the boardies had them forecast for only fifth — or at best, fourth — place overall.
And then, from Clan BeryGlades and the ‘Southern Heartlands’ region, we have national star Urralintha, who is seeking to better her cousin Urrratharra’s ‘2nd NSvision Song Contest’ third place with a ballad whose title is “Long Live Friendship…
So, Alasbearr, let us all hear which of these two entries is in second place and which of them has made it all of the way through to go forwards to the international contest as this year’s “Song for the Bears”!
Alasbearr opens an envelope, and adjusts his spectacles, as a drum roll gradually builds in speed & volume.
“With six of the eight entries listed so far, there are still eighty-five of the total two-hundred-and-twenty-four points that were available still left undeclared: So, how will they be divided between these two MARVELLOUS acts?”
He withdraws a folded sheet of paper from the envelope, and unfolds it, as the drum roll reaches a crescendo and then suddenly stops.
“Urralintha, with “Long Live Friendship”, forty points…”
(There is loud applause from the studio audience.)
“… and Fishbone Harp, with “Honey in the Jar”, forty-five points… for a clear win!
Shebears and hebears, the winning entry in this competition, and the song that we are sending as our national entry into the 7th Worldvision Song Contest, is Fishbone Harp with “Honey in the Jar”!”
(The crowd applauds even MORE loudly, although some of Urralintha’s supporters vocally express their discontent with this verdict instead. Several scuffles break out, but are quickly suppressed by studio security…)

After the cheers (and the scuffling) have stopped, the curtains are drawn back. Urralintha is on stage, dressed in flowing robes in her clan’s strawberry-&-emerald colours and sitting behind her hammer dulcimer. Some of the people in the front rows might just be able to see that there are tears in the corners of her eyes, but she bravely manages to keep her regret at not winning this competition from her voice as she reprises her song for this final time during its course.

“Friendship is kindness, and friendship is comfortable;
Friendship makes Life good, so can’t we be friends?
Friendship brings peace, and loving, and happiness;
Friendship makes Life good, so let’s all be friends.”

(OOC: and so on… I’m saving the description of ‘Fishbone Harp’ & their song, and an interview with them, for the international contest…)

I think there's been enough time to vote... congratulations to Cafundeu, the host country of WorldVision 7.
And the Swilatian entry is...?
Swilatia

piosenkadlaSwilasji 7
And here we are, at the final of piosenka dla swilasji, here in BSD Park, in Vilvek. A few weeks ago you selected the songs, and now here they are, all performing here. And toneight, you finally choose which song goes to the WorldVision contest, in Cafundeu, or something. So here we have 15 songs, coming from the semi-finals. And we can only have one go to WorldVision. And here they are:

01) Everytime, by Strawberry Band
Well, just when Niezwykłe would leave us alone, after winning the WorldVision slot, and then not using it, they're back! And they're opening the show for us! Well, okay, this isn't the real Niezwykłe, but it's the same kind of music. I don't know if these would be able to spare the WorldVision audience.

02) Leave Me Alone, by Joana Taylor
Next up we have Wavispa's pop singer who thinks she's a rock star but really isn't, Joana Taylor! And this without the internet submission thing. I guess her own country wouldn't let her represent, because if you took out all the "bad language", you'd think this was an instrumental piece. But who really cares about these "think of the children" people?

03) I Don't Wanna, by jSejazki
More faux-rock music, but this one is somewhat more believable. Mostly because it has actual rock instruments, and the Singer isn't Joana Taylor. But every county must have its own fake bands, and this has to be our take on this.

04) Let's Be Happy, by LISKI
"Let's be Happy, let's be gay"... This song does deserve some sort of recognition, even if just for that one line. As for the rest of the song, it's not really that great, but hey, this is WorldVision. The songs are never great.

05) Why?, by Filip Stefanowski
Baisicially, something like a new version of WorldVision 4 entry "It's Not Fair". So, like our WorldVision 4 entry, and somehow winner, it can be interpret as either a joke entry, or just some guys who complain too much. Wow, that was a weird entry.

06) Sanizki, by Jazki and Senki
More pseudo-exotic imaginary language music. It seems to be the kind of stuff there needs to be in every piosenka dla swilasji. La la na na na hey hey du du.

07) My Everything, by Sarina N
Another stupid love song. Sure, what should I expect, this is what so many pop songs are about. This one tries to create a foreign feeling or something like that without the imaginary language you see so much of in piosenka, but falls flat on the floor. She does put on a big show, but you can see she's just trying to compensate for something.

08) Tylko Powiedz, Andrzej Miszalski
Singing in Polish again. Sure, it kind off represents the country, but no-one will understand. Allthough that's maybe a good thing, 'cause for those who do unterstand, this just another featureless love song.

09) 33 Minutes, by Biało Niebieskie
And here's WorldVision 3 again, Biało Niebieskie and everything, doing stuff that makes no logical sense. This time they're singing in a real language, but that doesn't help us understand. It's Biało Niebieskie! And fortunately it's not 33 minutes long.

10) Fire and Ice, by Stevan Zirowski
This song just keeps jumping around, we have so many places, world is big. First the guy talks about killing himself, then about, oh, forget it. The guy is basicially lost, and i'm kind of lost trying to figure out, what's all this about?

11) Show the Light, by Lena Niewiedzka
This job can be rather difficult, trying to come up with different descriptions for the songs, when they're all so similar. My Everything, minus the weird act.

12) When the Lights Fall Down, by Milan and Tereza
Oh, dramatic. This song is pretty simple, when the night comes down I want you, and such, it's really about the show, falling schandeliers and everything. Just, are they going to do all that stuff in the video, on the stage? 'Cause, that's where WorldVision Zero had its problems, oh, and that one also had the problem of being exceptionally bad, so maybe this one will actually go somewhere.

13) The Last Fight, by Bandyty Swilajskie
I hope they mean that it's going to be their last song. They send so much trash every year, they're not even worth talking about any more.

14) Song #1, by KaLiRa
Another fereign band here now... and a real one, not just one singing in imaginary language! Well, okay, when they were in WorldVision 5, they were singing in a fake language. But they were doing it for Ka, er, ken, er that country that proves a name doesn't have to be long to be unpronouncable.

15) Call me, by The Wenesia Girls
And finally song 15. We've had this group last year, and I need a break, so go on any interent forum if you want a description of this song. They also do the non-qalifying entries!

And that's all the songs. To vote, go on our website, www.piosenka-dla-swilasji.swi. We'll tell you everything there. There yet? Voting... starts... now!

Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, pięć, cztery, trzy, dwa, jeden, the voting is over!

Kura-Pelland
10-11-2008, 12:53
Kura-Pelland have entered interesting songs in their time, but nobody really took the acapella vocal harmony group The Bentley Quartet to be entered.

But when hot favourite Holly Kingston - whose trance-pop song The World Is Ours was seen as a huge stand-out in this year's competition - was rushed to hospital four days before the WorldVision national qualifier This Is Our Sound, the competition opened up. Two days later it was confirmed that her illness was related to a crash diet she undertook before her performance; rumour has it that her stage outfit was designed for a size smaller than her already-slender frame.

With eating disorders a white-hot issue in Kura-Pelland, Kingston was suddenly a no-hoper even if she could perform, and as it turned out she couldn't. The now wide-open contest was close to the end, with singer-accordionist Vincent Olsen proving a surprise hit, while guitar-pop group The Martins came very close to winning. However, the eventual winners were The Bentley Quartet, performing This World Does Have A Place For You, a haunting ballad of anxiety and hope.
