CAFUNDÉU'S HEAD COUNSELLOR AND STATE GOVERNORS ELECTIONS
It is time again for the Cafundelenses to decide who will be the second most influential politician of the country. Cafundéu's government is lead by the Empress (Alice Van Tocco, or Alice I), who is the head of state and truly leader of the country. The second most important member of the government is the Head Counsellor, who is the only one of the Counsellor-Ministers (the 20 Cafundelense ministers, who work in different areas) that can't be replaced by the Empress (all the others can), and is also the one that replaces the Empress in the command of the country when she is travelling. So, this is a very important position, and one that will have its holder chosen by the population, with each voter choosing his/her candidate in the voting machine.
Cafundéu's elections happen each 2 years, but the country has 2 different elections, with each of them happening once per 4 years. First, there are the city elections, where the people choose the mayor of their city. 2 years later, the country elections, when people decide the Head Counsellor, state Governor, Senators and Deputies, which is the most important election, as it'll affect the whole country. In the last elections, which happened soon after the last Emperor of the country resigned, the Counsellor-Minister of Sports Erasmo Carlos Jowenguard (PI) won.
So now we start the Head Counsellor campaign. The candidates haven't been decided yet, with the parties still looking forward to make alliances and choosing the best candidate, the one with best chances to win. Usually the Counsellor-Ministers are the ones with better chances to win, but others can be candidates too, although their candidacy can be rejected by the Empress, something that doesn't happen in the case of the candidacies of the Counsellor-Ministers. Below, we'll give you a list of the previous Head Counsellors, a list of potential candidates and the first survey results.
(OOC: Cafundéu isn't a realistic country. In it, people have to pay for everything, from the usual energy bill to the "cost of crossing the street", "cost of receiving an answer for a question" or "cost of sleeping on government-owned places [which are the ones considered "public"]. The people in Cafundéu give a huge value to money, and they do whatever they need to in order to get more money. The population is also very interested in sports, especially the World Cup. The country ends being a parody of an ultra-capitalist place.
Time in Cafundéu passes as the NationStates World Cup passes. Each World Cup represents 2 years in Cafundéu. As I usually to RP only sports things, this time setting seemed the best for me.)

Info: the current Head Counsellor of the country stayed the position during an important moment of the country: a change of monarchs. But he didn't have a tough job, as the controversy involving Paul Badder's death was already solved when he took the position, and McKeen had already escaped to Valetaland. So, his time as Head Counsellor is seen as one without any big decisions or problems, and he has a good popularity. He is balanced between social and economical decisions. Can’t be a candidate, as a re-election for the Head Counsellor position isn’t possible.

Info: former Head Counsellor (twice), it is by far the most experienced politician of Cafundéu, and surely the right hand of the Empress. Has the trust of the Imperial Family and is a leader in his party. Worries about the image of the country and of the Empress, and his decisions usually help the big companies and the nobles, but he is able to keep his popularity high even with the poor people. Is pointed by many as the candidate of the Partido Imperial (PI) for the elections, but he said that he doesn't want to be a candidate.

Info: in the command of the newest Cafundelense ministry, Ronaldo Bustos is a famous businessman, owner of many big companies. So, he is a politician that tries to help the companies to profit more, making laws that make their work easier. His only worry is to make more money, for him and for the country, so he is not linked with social issues, although he is very worried with security. If Pender really decides to not compete, Bustos can be the choice of the PI to be a candidate for Head Counsellor.

Info: the youngest Counsellor-Minister, she doesn't have much experience, but is very good in doing her job. As most people of the Imperial Party, she defends the big companies, and gives less importance to social issues, extremely worried with the economy. Is loyal to the Empress, and is one of the few Cafundelenses politicians that didn't get involved in corruption controversies. Surely someone that can become a popular politician in the future, but she is still too young to be a candidate, and the party seems to agree.

Info: an old and experienced politician, Lisandro is the president of his party. He gets constantly involved in corruption scandals, but his friendship with the Imperial family helps him to maintain his position as Counsellor-Minister. His party will probably support the candidate of the Imperial Party, but anything is possible. He is a defender of the foreign companies, and his projects usually intend to make it easier for foreigners to invest in the country. Worries a lot about unemployment too, but his projects in this area usually don't make effect.

Info: the highest ranked judge of the country, Karina is known for her lack of doubt when solving cases, and is considered the "Guardian of Justice". Unfortunately, as it usually happens with APN politicians, she sometimes gets involved in corruption scandals, and sometimes her decisions as judge are put into question. As Counsellor-Minister, she battles to tighten the laws and make the punishments more severe, saying that this would reduce criminality. Worries with the lack of housing too.

Info: a politician that, before being a Counsellor-Minister, was a Senator and after that a state Governor. So, he has plenty of experience, even not being old. He works hard to look for good energy sources for the country, but isn't much worried about the environment, wanting only to look for cheaper and available ways to get the necessary energy. His party, the Democrats' Party, isn't linked with the Empress, and they oppose her in some things, wanting to give more power to the parliament, but not defending a republic.

Info: a famous musician, was called to participate in the government few months after he started his political career as a deputy. Also, seems worried about the children, creating projects that keep them out of the streets through art courses. But, due to the fact that he isn't a true politician, many people still doubt that he is a qualified person.

Info: a respected doctor and into the political career since he was 21. Was Governor of Juta three times, and is well-seen in most parts of the country. Is one of the Counsellor-Minister that is the longest time in the position, and seems to have a good relationship with the Empress, even with this party not being so close to her (but it isn't anti-Empire). Al-Jasseb is a genius in making projects that benefit the healthcare of the country, but seems too worry in this area, not giving enough attention to others. It is almost certain that he'll be a candidate.

Info: André is a millionaire businessman, the creator of Canabrava Cachaça. His entrance in the politics was well-seen by few people, and his choice as Counsellor-Minister wasn't a good thing in the eyes of the Cafundelense populations. He seems to make an effort to improve his personal image, but a recently involvement in a scandal where it was discovered that he was employing relatives in public jobs didn't help him. Will not get directly involved in the elections, and his support can be more harmful than helpful.

Info: Beatriz Hessin was a famous politician two decades ago, but after many years inside the government as a Counsellor-Minister, her name isn't so known as before. She used to fight for the social issues, as social equality and civil rights, but now this fight is mixed with a will to improve the economy of the country, showing that she got influenced by the climate inside the government. Her party isn't an opponent of the Empress, but probably won't support the PI, supporting another candidate or even competing.

She is full of energy and willing to defend her values, but fails to trespass the barrier that is created by other politicians, who are more worried in improving the economy than to protect the environment. Due to this, her work is nearly unnoticed, and that's because she is able to transform few of her ideas in concrete projects.

Info: after the treason made by the former Counsellor-Minister of Foreign Issues Ray McKeen (who made a plan involving murders to transform the country in a republic and take the power - which failed), the new monarch (the Empress Alice Van Tocco) decided to put a noble in the position, putting the influential João Borges in the place. He is talented in negotiating with foreign representatives, and seems to be a wise choice. The PNC will probably support the PI in the elections, as most of the population don't feel like voting for a noble as Head Counsellor.

Info: former rector of the Jutense Imperial University (Universidade Imperial Jutense - UIJ), Zacarias is respected all around the world for his studies in developing new technologies for use in the industry. But, nowadays, he seems more worried with helping new students to develop new projects, giving less importance to using the science and technology to find new transport ways or new weaponry for the use in the industry and commerce. But his change didn't change much his popularity, which is average. His party, the PETM, usually supports the Empire.

Info: got the command of the army after the death of General Lars Winnear, and got his position as Counsellor-Minister of Defence too. Is considered a best officer than Winnear, and also is more respected by the soldiers. But, as a politician, doesn't have the same ability of the previous Counsellor-Minister. Also, Lars Winnear was considered one of the most loyal people to the Empress, and Arcoverde is seen as just a loyal one. He is having a difficult time to overcome the shadow of the previous army leader.

Info: a leader of one of the biggest worker unions of the country, the Astari Union, Fortaleza became a famous person in Cafundéu, defending the rights of the workers and hoping to see better life conditions for the people of the country. Thanks to the support of all the worker unions of Cafundéu, he became Senator of the Titã state, and soon after was called to be a Counsellor-Minister. Is clearly the one that most opposes the Empress, and his party is an opponent to her. Is likely to become a candidate in the elections.

Info: the Countess was recently appointed as the new Counsellor-Minister of Transport, but her area of interest isn't this one. Of course, as she is a Counsellor-Minister now, she has been trying to solve traffic problems and things related to transportation, but she is much more worried in defending the ideas of her party, which is considered the most pro-business of all the country. Her party is very independent from the others, but doesn't seem to have a good candidate, so it can end supporting another party.

Info: this young intelligent lady is in one of the most important positions of the Cafundelense government: the Leisure and Tourism. As a country that relies on tourism to improve its receipts, Gabriela has to work hard, and she does, as she loves working in this area. She is young, but already experienced, and a very popular politician inside the country (we don't know if it is because she is considered one of the most beautiful politicians of the country). Her party is a growing one, but usually prefers to support another than to have an own candidate.

Info: Cafundéu is a country that has people from many different religions, and fortunately they seem to live in peace with each other. But, to guarantee their rights, there is the Ministry of Religious Issues. And, surprisingly, only Catholic leaders seem to reach this position, and the current holder is Lineu Caldas Trindade, a liberal cardinal more worried with the situation of the population than the religion (but he of course follows the Catholic rules and defends them). He is well-viewed by the population. His party isn't a big one, and will probably support the Empire.

Info: placed in the Ministry of Education after the murder of Paul Badder (which led to the controversy about the possible involvement of the Emperor [at that time, Hector Van Tocco], which was later denied [the involved was the Head Counsellor Ray McKeen]), she is seen as a loyal defender of the Empress, someone that would agree with every decision of her. So, she isn't really a defender of education, being more worried with the economy and to control the taxes in Cafundéu. Her party usually defends the Empire, but sometimes tend to really oppose it, so it's attitudes in the future are uncertain.

Now, with the Head Counsellor elections approaching, many people hope to see the former Emperor back in a government position. But the tradition of election only Counsellor-Ministers can be a serious barrier for a possible candidacy of the Prince.

Info: usually called "Doutor Careca", for being a doctor and also for being completely bald, Olivier Derrod is the biggest defender of a Cafundelense republic. He hopes to see the Monarchy abolished in the country, defending a true democracy. Many people seem to agree with him but, as the Monarchy is approved by most, he can expand his area of influence, being limited on his state (where he is an idol). It'd be difficult to see him as a candidate, as the Empress can refuse any candidacy of a non-Counsellor-Minister if she wants to.

Info: popular in his state, which is the second most important of the country's politics, he is the strongest name of his party. Seen as an administrative genius, he is able to do a wonderful work in Lasft without spending too much, something that receives a huge value in a country as worried with money as Cafundéu. Many see him as the new politics idol of the country, but he still has to build a bigger history in the country to be able to reach this point. Can be a candidate, but also has the chance of a re-election in Lasft (Governors can have 2 consecutive terms in office).

Info: a very, very controversial person. Defends the use of illegal drugs for medicinal uses (drugs are completely forbidden in Cafundéu - you'll be arrested even if you have just the amount for personal use), the organization of prostitution in the country, etc. Defends the rights of people, and argues that every person has the right to do anything it wants. Has some popularity, and due to this became a Senator (in a small state, but a Senator anyway). Says that he'll be a candidate for Head Counsellor, and it's likely that the Empress won't refuse his candidacy.

Info: probably the most corrupt politician in the Cafundelense history, was able to escape prison after fleeing to Estresse Intenso until the accusations against him were dropped. Returned to the country, and was elected as deputy, thanks to some loyal voters that think that he is an excellent politician, even being a corrupt one. Wants to become Head Counsellor, but this seriously must be joke, as he doesn't have popularity for this; as everyone knows that he is a thief and a criminal. His party was formed by him.

Cafundéu's elections happen each 2 years, but the country has 2 different elections, with each of them happening once per 4 years. First, there are the city elections, where the people choose the mayor of their city. 2 years later, the country elections, when people decide the Head Counsellor, state Governor, Senators and Deputies, which is the most important election, as it'll affect the whole country. In the last elections, which happened soon after the last Emperor of the country resigned, the Counsellor-Minister of Sports Erasmo Carlos Jowenguard (PI) won.
So now we start the Head Counsellor campaign. The candidates haven't been decided yet, with the parties still looking forward to make alliances and choosing the best candidate, the one with best chances to win. Usually the Counsellor-Ministers are the ones with better chances to win, but others can be candidates too, although their candidacy can be rejected by the Empress, something that doesn't happen in the case of the candidacies of the Counsellor-Ministers. Below, we'll give you a list of the previous Head Counsellors, a list of potential candidates and the first survey results.
(OOC: Cafundéu isn't a realistic country. In it, people have to pay for everything, from the usual energy bill to the "cost of crossing the street", "cost of receiving an answer for a question" or "cost of sleeping on government-owned places [which are the ones considered "public"]. The people in Cafundéu give a huge value to money, and they do whatever they need to in order to get more money. The population is also very interested in sports, especially the World Cup. The country ends being a parody of an ultra-capitalist place.
Time in Cafundéu passes as the NationStates World Cup passes. Each World Cup represents 2 years in Cafundéu. As I usually to RP only sports things, this time setting seemed the best for me.)

So, his time as Head Counsellor is seen as one without any big decisions or problems, and he has a good popularity. He is balanced between social and economical decisions. Can’t be a candidate, as a re-election for the Head Counsellor position isn’t possible.

Is pointed by many as the candidate of the Partido Imperial (PI) for the elections, but he said that he doesn't want to be a candidate.

If Pender really decides to not compete, Bustos can be the choice of the PI to be a candidate for Head Counsellor.

He seems to make an effort to improve his personal image, but a recently involvement in a scandal where it was discovered that he was employing relatives in public jobs didn't help him. Due to this, her work is nearly unnoticed, and that's because she is able to transform few of her ideas in concrete projects.

He is talented in negotiating with foreign representatives, and seems to be a wise choice. The PNC will probably support the PI in the elections, as most of the population don't feel like voting for a noble as Head Counsellor.

Also, Lars Winnear was considered one of the most loyal people to the Empress, and Arcoverde is seen as just a loyal one. Is clearly the one that most opposes the Empress, and his party is an opponent to her. Is likely to become a candidate in the elections.

Wants to become Head Counsellor, but this seriously must be joke, as he doesn't have popularity for this; as everyone knows that he is a thief and a criminal. His party was formed by him.
