EXTREME SOCCER: THERE WILL BE A NEW ESL CHAMPION THIS SEASON
Defending champions Laurier Goldenhawks (http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Laurier_Goldenhawks)eliminated from the playoffs
Peace - There will be a new champion in the Extreme Soccer League (http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=PopularFreedom_Extreme_Soccer_League)this season as the Laurier Goldenhawks were eliminated as a result of their match results yesterday. Assuming Locke Harbour South were to beat the woeful Port Northview Stingrays (http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Port_Northview_Stingrays)in regulation yesterday, which they did, Laurier needed to win their match against the top ranked Peace Vultures in regulation. Alas, Laurier was successful, however they needed extra time to do it.

Standings after Wednesday's games
Unfortunately for Laurier, they are now 3 points out of a playoff with one game remaining. Even if they win that game and Locke Harbour South loses their game, they would still be tied with the same amount of points, but with Locke Harbour South having more wins then Laurier the playoff spot would officially go to Locke Harbour South. Even if Locke Harbour North won their match in overtime producing a 3 way time for the final playoff spot, the playoff spot would go to whichever team has the most wins, which right now is Locke Harbour South.
'It sucks', noted captain Tony Hearns after the match. 'We did everything we could to beat the Vultures but their goaltending held on until it was to late for us. We still pushed in overtime hoping for a miracle, however it was not to be.'
Meanwhile the overtime loss by Peace coupled with a win by Hilvenidica pushed the Crazy Goats into first overall in tier 1.
Thet win should give Hilvenidica the presidents trophy as their final game they play Sacredicity, a team that has already been eliminated from the playoffs. Do expect Sacredicity to play hard against Hilvenidica however as Lenita has the ability to still catch them for 6th overall in the west, which would give whichever team acquires that spot, the assurances of not being relegated next season.
