Candelaria And Marquez

For no obvious reason, the Football Federation of Ad’ihan and the Candelaria And Marquez Association Football Association are honoured to present: A Slightly Uninspiring Bid to Host the Thirty-Fourth Cup of Harmony

The Nations: Two, or possibly three, depending on how one looks at it, vaguely multicultural island countries, united by their peoples’ triumphs against adversity and passion for the beautiful game. Since their mutual entry into global football at the twenty-third Baptism of Fire, the Ad’ihani national team has become a regular fixture at the top tale; while Candelaria And Marquez have a regrettably long association with this particular tournament, and are the most recent CoH champions.
Both countries detain/execute foreign nationals without trial only very occasionally.
The Users Behind the Nations: The co-host of the 22nd, 37th and 41st World Cups, 12th Cup of Harmony, 3rd and 26th Baptisms of Fireses, host of innumerable other sporting competitions, the patron of several charities and possessing numerous impoverished half-brothers spread around the globe; Ad’ihanliverpoolenglandliventia is a Safe Pair of Hands.
Candelaria And Marquez probably isn’t; but we advise you to picture a puppy, abandoned by its owners and desperately seeking a nice family to take it home and give it lots of cuddles. Look at its big, wet eyes. Gowon, give it a pat. There… don’t you feel a better person for doing that? Gowon, pat him again.
The Technical Stuff:
Format ~ Would involve a simple group-stage-then-knock-out-rounds system, involving as many teams as appears appropriate. All nations in WC42 qualifying who post at least two RPs, or one RP and a roster, and who are not in a state of ceasement following the play-offs, would be invited. No special effort would be undertaken to ensure a large tournament, and if only a handful of nations (ie, less than sixteen-or-so) accept the call we would endeavour to create fewer but larger groups rather than resort to inviting non-RPers. Unless we end up with an odd number, or something. If that happens, we’ll practically be begging Lovisa.
Scorination ~ Would use the most stable, reliable and emotionally mature version of NSFS available at the time, and team modifiers of +/- 3, in keeping with the current system of WC42 qualifying. We concede that this isn’t especially exciting, but question whether the finals of a rankings tournament is the right place to unleash a brand new scorinator or owt.
RP Bonus ~ The successful World Cup 37 and 41 cumulative RP bonus sheet will be adapted for the Cup of Harmony. As time wears on, earlier RPs will decreasingly affect the bonus, which will be best maintained by regular RPing, at whatever level of quality. This also means that a single flash of brilliance on a single day will probably not be enough to sustain a bonus right ‘till the bitter end. The whole purpose of the presence of the CoH on the calendar is to recognise those who make a real effort to participate during qualifying, after all.
