The Most Serene Republic of Willagee would like to take a few moments of your time to provide interested states and people with a brief outline of her government.

The Most Serene Republic of Willagee is a direct/radical democracy. That is the people as a sovreign body not only elect representatives to oversee the running of the nation but are also directly involved through referendums in the day-to-day running of the nation. All matters of foreign importance and alterations to the constitution must be referred to the people. Also the people may if they wish create, strike or amend laws of their own accord. For all these matters for a particular view to prevail an absolute majority (51%) is required.

Because of the unusual but highly successful political system in the Most Serene Republic of Willagee voting is compulsory.

The highest office of the state in Willagee is the office of Consul. The duty of the two consuls is to conduct the assemblies of the people and also to deal with matter of international importance on behalf of the people. The office of Consul is held for 2 years. Consuls also have the privilege of being the first to speak on a matter before the people in the assembly. After Consuls there are the nine Archons, who are the supreme judges of Willagee. They are again elected by the people and hold the office for 5 years. 16 Praetors oversee the various administrative districts of Willagee and convene the local assemblies of the people. The Praetor Urbanus oversees the capital of Willagee, Marsi. Below praetors there are 5 Aediles, of which 3 must come from country districts. Aediles oversee and organize public events.
