Q-Continuum Sports Championships RP/Roster/Scores Thread

Green wombat
26-07-2008, 06:24
Suggested by Taeshan as a way to determine the best sports teams in the Q Continuum, Green wombat is proud to host the First Q-Continuum Championships.

The ONLY Nations competing are:
Qazox
Taeshan
Prux
Green wombat

The following sports will be contested:

Football (soccer)
Baseball
Basketball
Football (american)
Ice Hockey
Dodgeball

Each sport will consist of a double round robin against the other 3 teams, for a total of 6 games. Then the teams will have a single elimination playoff, (1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3) for each of the 6 sports.

Finishing first in the playoff will earn a nation 5 points, with 3 points for 2nd, 2 points for 3rd and 1 point for 4th. The best group record from each sport will gain an additional point. The nation with the most points at the end of the competition will be declared the SPORTING CHAMPIONS of the Q-Continuum. IF there is a tie atop the standings, the nation that wins the most Groups will be declared the winner.

Votes for the 6th sport are due by July 29th.
Posting of Rosters are due by August 3rd.
THIS WILL START on August 4th.
Qazox

We Also Confirm are entrance Rosters to Follow, and um if there were someone else in the Continuum not a puppet of one of us couldnt they compete.
Qazox
27-07-2008, 04:06
Not unless you want Sativaville dominating everything. no Puppets.

Isn't fair to Prux and GW, they don't have puppets.
Prux
27-07-2008, 04:21
Yeah, i don't have a puppet, so it's not fair is Taeshan gets one.

And we're in.

Roster to come shortly.

(looks like Dodgeball is gonna win)

BackWater News

A'int much goin' on in Sports, odder den these Kew-Continual sports champions. Since we hear back in the Backwater don't much fancy anythin other den setting stuff on fire, and we did burnt everythin but this here press down, i reckon we ken post some scores and such.

Foosball- We did tieded with a bunch of rejects from a historee book. we don't much cotton to books, so that sucked.

Basesball- we hit the ball better that the other team winnin by 2.

Basketball- our bunch of ^!&&3/s lost.

Ice Hookey- at least we knows about this sport, and we whupped them wombats 6-1!

Foosball the other kind- Our bunch of pansies, wearing armor and shit, won by 2.

Dodgeball- Dunno what this is, but we won.

Intern #1: Why are we even here. I just started working at the PSC (Prux Sports Council) and now I'm in Green wombat covering the Ragion championships?

Intern #2: Same here, but I'm working for the PFA (Prux Football Association), I'm just here to watch the football team, and make sure they don't accidently get killed before we can re-plant them back into history.

Intern #3: You 2 are lucky. I have to work for President Griffin and keep him updated every hour as to the results.

Intern #1: Worst part is, we're not even getting paid for it!

Intern #2: The only good things is, when one of those two cheap-ass Lawyers retire, I'll be in line to take over.

Intern #3: Wait a second here... Well this is good news. We won in dodgeball!

Intern #1: At least there's a sport we're good at.

WACHOVIA FREE PRESS

Well the 1st ever Q-Continuum Championships have started, and no big suprise, of the four nations invited to play, we're by far the worst. Whether it's due to the sporadic forays into the World Cup, the frequent forays into the WBC or the solitary trips to the WCoH or the multiple time visits to the Tour de Qazox; this sports defecent country is seemingly putting an effort into being not just a competitior, but an eventual power in the internatinal sports stage.

The lone title, came many years ago at the Tour de Qazox, until the recent QSF gold medals. Now having hosted a WBC, and now this Continuum-wide event, perhaps Green wombat is emerging from its sports coma.

But today, a coma seems better. 6 sports and 5 loses, with the lone win, in the sport Green wombat is playing for the first time, GridIron. A 34-28 win over Prux, who was also playing its first ever GridIron game. As for the others, A 2-goal loss in Football to taeshan; a 2-run loss, also to Taeshan in Baseball, an 8-point loss in Basketball, again to Taeshan. Ice Hockey, Qazox, the 2-time WCoH champs annihilated us 6-1, and it should have been worse, and finally, and 11-8 loss in dodgeball to Qazox, a major upset, considering, this was Qazox' first Dodgeball match.

But there is still many games left to be played, and maybe the pressure of having to perform in front of the home fans was too much on Day 1. Here's to a better Day 2.

Intern #2: A draw with Qazox, better than we hoped to do. Maybe we have a chance.

Intern #3: I wish President Griffin would stop texting me every 30 minutes. It's bad enough I have to call him every hour, now he wants updates every 30 minutes?

Intern #1: well just got this over the score line: we tied Green wombat in Dodgeball.

Intern #2: Dodgeball? What the heck is that?

Intern #3: Don't care, The Prez wants to know if we won anything today.

Day 2 and the home team has recovered somewhat, winning today in Basketball. A close game with Prux, until a 7-0 run over the last 45 seconds made it 102-92.

In the other sports.... a draw in Dodgeball, and losses in everything else. A close 3-2 loss to Qazox in Football, a 6-run loss in Baseball, again to Qazox. a 2-1 loss in the final seconds to Taeshan and a 42-10 beatdown in Gridiron.

Still, there is 4 games left in every event, and we can recover to win. But if we don't win tommorrow on Day 3...it will be almost over.

Day 3 and the situation has improved somewhat, though the silence from the usually talkative Taeshani media is baffling.

GOOD NEWS:
Wins in Football over Prux, in Basketball over Qazox and a HUGE upset in Gridiron as Taeshan fumbled on the goal line with 6 seconds left and Randall Jacks fell on it to preserve a 31-27 victory.

BAD NEWS: Still winless in Baseball and Ice Hockey and 2 losses in Dodgeball.

MEDAL SITUATION:
Definate medals in Basketball and Football, and maybe Gridiron. Possibly could get a baseball medal.

Day 5 and the group rounds are almost done, So let's take a quick look at how each sport has turned out so far.

FOOTBALL(soccer):
Besides Prux, any team could win this, but right now, Qazox is still the favorite.

BASEBALL:
Qazox and Taeshan are probably going to face off for the title in a 3rd match.

BASKETBALL:
Taeshan looks almost unbeatable, while Qazox is very beatable, so that leaves us and Prux for 2nd.

ICE HOCKEY:
We suck, the other 3 don't.

FOOTBALL (american):
We've done well, but we've also been lucky as hell, Qazox vs. Taeshan will battle it out for first, most likely.

DODGEBALL:

Tommorrow is the last day, and then there is only the Semifinals and Finals. So far, any one of the 4 nations can win the overall title.

Day 6 and the group rounds are finsihed. Only the knockout rounds remain. And our predictions in which place we'll finish.

FOOTBALL(soccer):
We got 2nd place, not bad, but having to beat Taeshan then Qazox to finish 1st, is too much to ask. THIRD PLACE

BASEBALL:
We might be able to beat Prux again, but if we have to face Taeshan insted, were dead. FOURTH PLACE

BASKETBALL:
If we can find some way to beat taeshan, then we'll take the gold. SECOND PLACE

ICE HOCKEY:
FOURTH PLACE we only won the last game, 'cause Prux only used the 3rd stringers.

FOOTBALL (american):
This team has a horseshoe up its butt, but Taeshan will avenge the earlier upset. THIRD PLACE

DODGEBALL:
Still wide open, though Taeshan seems a bit better. SECOND PLACE

So we'll finish with: 2 2nds, 2 3rd, and 2 4ths for a total of 12pts, which might be good enough for 3rd overall, just ahead of Prux.

(ooc: this really sucked, to be honest)

Qazox is the best Team in the Q-Continuum in Ice Hockey and Gridiron, nothing we didn't know already, but suprisingly, Taeshan is the best team in both Baseball and Dodgeball, with Green wombat winning the Basketball championship and Prux stunning everyone by taking home the Football title.

So what did we learn?

Nothing really, other than Prux just lucky just at the right time.

Weell if this cmpetition went by the rankings, (and I know it didn't), Qazox would have won Football, Baseball, Ice Hockey, and Football American, easily.
