Sakura Jo is a goalkeeper on the Women's Association Football team. A member of the Fujisawan Territories' 4th Di Bradini Cup team that against all odds, made it to the final against Newmanistan, she has been deaf since birth. Born and raised in the capitol city of Hoji on the island of Iwosaka, she was a standout on the Hoji Metropolitan High School for the Deaf zeokit (association football) team, and was unanimously selected for the 4th Di Bradini Cup team. She currently lives in Newmanistan and is attending university there while playing for the Southport Tigers.
Seina Suzuki, 17, is competing in the Women's Marathon. She suffers from chronic reflex sympathetic dystrophy and uses leg braces and crutches.

3. Siblings
Lo Xiao Xing (FJT) and Lo Jiang Li (UBT), both archers for their respective countries, are sisters. Lo Xiao Xing was adopted from China by a member of the Fujisawan royal family (the royal family is now purely ceremonial in function) and the Fujisawan government gave her full citizenship status. In her teens, Lo Xiao Xing partook in archery, which is a favorite sport among upper class Fujisawa. She eventually became one of the top female archers in Fujisawa, along with Amih Sawaoyot IV of the royal family, who is also competing in these Olympics. Lo Xiao Xing and her sister kept in touch, and Lo Jiang Li picked up an interest in archery. She eventually became as good as her sister. Immigration was strictly closed in Fujisawa, so at age 17, Lo Jiang Li decided to immigrate to Pacific Beretania (now called Unified Beretania) which at the time was classified as an unincorporated overseas territory of the Fujisawan Territories.
In Fujisawan artistic gymnastics, Tokurin Chi and Miwano Chi are sisters, Tokurin the older of the two. Tamehi Chi, while sharing a common Fujisawan surname, is not related to the two.

OOC: some may note from here and the sign-up thread that this team is identical to the team Maineiacs sent to the II Olympiad (and that won the medal count there). I don't have time to come up with new names. If there's a IV Olympiad, I will. It is four years (Maineiacs time) since the Querzaki Olympics, and since most competitors were 18-25 at that time, they would now be 22-29.
Bears Armed

http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/bears_armed.jpg
Our flag-bearer at these Games will be Arwenna ar Thyrro, who is competing in 'Equestrian [Eventing]' catgeory. She is a young noblewoman from Clan Arttorran, who are the most humanoid in form out of all our nation's differing varieties of Ursine. She's just turned 16 years old, is only 5'7" tall, and has strawberry-blonde fur and large blue eyes: The adjective that I would think most likely to spring to people's minds on seeing her is "cute"... ;)
(Those of our other entrants who also have the word 'ar' linking the two parts of their names, as she does, are also from that Clan.)
(Additional information: Her clan is one of the most 'human' in psychology and culture, as well as in body-shape. Her family is an old-established part of the clan's aristocracy, and she was raised accordingly... She's 'genteel', but not snooty. The whole clan follows the religion of 'Ursianity', which originated -- like their own ancestors -- on a version of Earth that had "anthropomorphic animals" of various kinds but no humans: Its version of Christ came as an Ursine, 'Artos of Nutwood' who became known as 'Artos Urssion', and was crucified outside the holy city of Glastonbury -- in the island of 'Brutain' -- when that land was just a part of a Wabbit-dominated power called the 'Romaine Empire'... but that was almost two thousand years ago.
Arwenna is fairly innocent, but neither hopelessly naive not at all stupid. She's really keen on equestrianism, to the exclusion of most social activities unless her family absolutely insists on those, and her most likely choice of clothing is riding gear.)
__________________________________________________
Our national colours are lime green and light brown.
Most of our athletes will therefore be wearing lime-green shirts, or other tops as appropriate, with the brown bear's-paw emblem that appears on our flag centred on both the front & the back. Their shorts (or other trousers, as appropriate) will be light brown, with wide black and white stripes down their sides: the kilts that some of them (all of those with clan-names that include the word 'Garra', and maybe a few others as well...) wear instead of shorts or other trousers will be pale brown with a 'tartan' pattern in black & white. Those of them who participate in 'Athletics' events will mostly do so bare-footed, but those who wear shoes or boots will all do so with lime-green socks.
Our entries for the Judo, Table Tennis and Taekwondo events were all organised through the Southern Province's 'Eightwayist' (essentially = Buddhist) monasteries, and will wear saffron robes -- with sashes in the national colours -- rather than the standard outfit.
We have adopted a new National Anthem since our last appearance in any international sporting contest. This is a slightly-altered version of the song 'Peace', which was written by our famous singer Urratharra (from Clan BerryGlades) and performed by her (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11807105&postcount=15) (achieving 3rd place...) in the Second NSvision Song Contest. The only changes that have been made are in the lists of sapient species mentioned: The lines "Bear and Human, Wolf and Tiger," and "Bear and Human, Cat and Dragon," are now replaced by "Bear and Harr'aynau, Hwa and Brocken," and "Bear and Smith-folk, Hwa aand Human," respectively.
We have brought our own medical staff, headed by Dr Merryon White, along with us in case the locals aren't used to caring for Ursines.

Speaking for the nation that originally suggested the inclusion of tug-of-war in these games, we were certainly expecting this event to be for women's teams as well as men's ones.
And we're planning to send a women's Lacrosse team, if that sport gets confirmed, too.

of course i posted what sports i entered first
NM's OP said that the sign-up thread was where we're supposed to post our athletes, except for the participants in team sports, which go here.
same thing i did my rosters for everything hear and just put my numbered entries there
OOC: Does anyone know how many on a jai-alai team? Also, are there going to be women's teams for jai-alai, rugby, tug-of-war, and lacrosse (assuming these sports are confirmed as exhibiton sports)? If so, I will have teams entered.
Check out the wikipedia page. It's either 4 teams of 2 players or 8 single competitiors in a round robin format. (ie: the winner of the first point stays on the court until beaten.)

RPing notes.
An Blascaod Mór is a tiny nation which is proud just to represent itself on an international scale. Even a 7-0 thrashing will be deemed a success if someone who had never heard of the country before learns of it (and the local pub is good, even a clean sheet or a goal will merit a national holiday). All 143 citizens of the island will be at the tournament supporting the team and will be about as load as 143 people (minus the 17 players) can be. Neutral fans are also welcomed with open arms by the ABM support. A large number (roughly 1,500) of Sorthern Northland will also be there to support their neighbours. The nation also leads a perhaps primitive lifestyle lacking things such as roads (and therefore all forms of transport except donkey and boats), TV's, computers and electricity and the like. This is not to say they are unaware of these things and find them foreign as they can be found easily should an Islanders visit the Sorthern Northland mainland. The players will though find big city's and playing in a ground that is more than just a patch of grass a new experience.

We have just been handed the following line ups by the various managers of the national teams:
First the football team which is the u-23 national side. Some of these (marked with a *) are away with the Baptism of Fire side and so will note feature until we win that (or go out of it).
Steve Pilot plays GK for New Dorset Stars and is 21 years old
U-21 international
A young goalkeeper who is already being touted as the next number 1 in a few years time.
Gerard Aguirre plays GK for Northern Lights and is 21 years old
U-21 international
Good goalkeeper needs to improve his positioning sense a bit but is one of the best shot stoppers around.
Jason Arnott plays GK for Coalfires United and is 23 years old
Given his chance to prove his worth to the national side at the Olympics
Roger Roberts plays RB or LB for Woodhampton Rovers and is 18 years old
U-21 international
Teenage fullback with a bright future, pne to keep an eye on.
Ray Hamil * plays RB for Broxton United and is 21 years old
U-21 international who has also featured on the international scene
Young right back ready, likes to get down that right flank and overlap the winger.
Davin Adamson plays RB or CB for Woodhampton United and is 23 years old
Given his chance to prove his worth to the national side at the Olympics
Struggled in the league at centre back but seems more comfortable at right back.
Richard Wilson plays CB for Wood Town and is 21 years old
U-21 international who has also featured on the international scene
Young centre back with a promising future. May well be given the captaincy while Stephen Diddon is with the national side.
Stephen Diddon * plays CB or DM for Wood Limited and is 23 years old
Experienced international
Centre defender equally happy at anchoring the midfield. Expected to make some tough tackles and will do well to escape without a yellow card this tournament. His commitment and passion makes him a good choice for captain when he returns from Baptism of Fire duty.
Harry Gan plays CB for Woodhampton United and is 22 years old
Given his chance to prove his worth to the national side at the Olympics
Didn't have the best season at club level and will be looking to put that behind him.
Conrado Brinkman plays CB for New Dorset Stars and is 22 years old
Given his chance to prove his worth to the national side at the Olympics
Still trying to break into his club's defense mind you that's not getting any younger and does feature international Stephen Sterland.
Woodrow Derby * plays LB for Broxton United and is 23 years old
Experienced international
Up and coming left back with plenty of pace to overlap the winger, just has to make sure he gets back in time, possibly better as a wingback in a 3-5-2 system.
Joshua Ashton plays LB for Coalfires United and is 21 years old
U-21 international
An attacking full back with a huge amount of promise.
Mahieu Henderson plays DM for Woodhampton Rovers and is 22 years old Given his chance to prove his worth to the national side at the Olympics
Didn't have a great season at club level.
David Barclay plays DM for Woodham and is 22 years old
Given his chance to prove his worth to the national side at the Olympics
In the league did a good job of keeping attackers at bay.
Jamie Beveridge plays CM for Wood Town and is 20 years old
U-21 international
Young midfielder with a huge amount of promise.
Delmore Brinkman plays CM for Wood Town and is 23 years old
Given his chance to prove his worth to the national side at the Olympics
Tom Darkless * plays RW or AM for Southern Village and is 21 years old
U-21 international who has also featured on the international scene
Right sided player, good down the winger and behind the front man, possibly not quite ready for the full international team yet.
Jordi Hoffmann plays RW for Northern Lights and is 23 years old
Given his chance to prove his worth to the national side at the Olympics
With Tom Darkless and Kevin Wallace away at the Baptism of Fire may get the chance he has been waiting for.
Kevin Wallace * plays RW or LW for New Dorset Stars and is 21 years old
U-21 international who has also featured on the international scene
A winger with tons of pace, played well at the u-21 tournament and is looking to break into the 1st 11 for the full side at the Baptism of Fire.
Woodrow Wilson plays LW for Woodhampton Rovers and is 18 years old
U-21 international
Teenage sensation. This young man has a huge future in front of him and did well at times in the U-21 tournament .
Gary Stering plays LW for Woodhampton Rovers and is 23 years old
Experienced international
Good, fast left winger, needs to a bit more consistent though.
David Bomber plays TM for Coalfires United and is 21 years old
U-21 international
Young target man, standing at 6 foot 6, he'll out jump most defenders, just needs to improve his accuracy.
John Little plays CS for New Dorset Stars and is 18 years old
U-21 international
Teenage striker, likely to have a good career in the top league and possibly as an international squad player, but not thought likely to be a regular first teamer for the national side. But who knows we may be wrong.
Richard Higgins * plays CS for Wood Limited and is 21 years old
U-21 international who has also featured on the international scene
Struggled to break into the first 11 at the Oxen Cup but did well at the Di Bradini Cup and finished joint 2nd top scorer in the league.
Brian James plays CS for Woodham and is 22 years old
Given his chance to prove his worth to the national side at the Olympics

The Archregimancy
03-08-2008, 09:20
Important RP information on the Archregimancy's Olympic team:
1) The Archregimancy is a nation of Orthodox (ie, Eastern Orthodox Christian) monks. Their behaviour will be entirely consistent with their chosen monastic lifestyle. They are likely to be suspicious of heretics, heathens, atheists, and freemasons, and will want to minimise their contact with women. Please note that they do not, however, object to the presence of women in the Olympics or to mixed-gender events.
2) Participants from the Archregimancy will wear their monastic robes during all events. This might prove to be a hindrance in certain events. The synchronised swimmers will tie little lead weights to the bottom of their robes in order to avoid unseemly exposure. It is believed that Fr. Onesimius in the trampoline will tie his robes around his ankles to avoid a similar problem.
3) Should any Archregimancy athletes actually win an event (of which there's a half-decent chance in the steeplechase and the one-person dinghy), the national anthem of the Archregimancy is the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. It lasts two hours. There has been no indication from the Olympic hosts that the Orthodox Church will be gravely insulted through a forced shortening of the national anthem.
4) The Monastic Olympic Committee's spokesman is Fr, Vasily the Heavily Accented. He speaks with a thick Russian accent, and is fond of declaring 'is outrage!' whenever he thinks Orthodoxy (or the squad) have in some way been insulted. Feel free to use him in your own RPs.
5) The Archregimancy's flag bearer in the opening ceremony will be Fr. Athenogenes the Wanderer (one person dinghy).
6) Have fun with the Archregimancy in your own RPs. I am Orthodox in RL but I also have (I hope) a sense of humour about the Orthodox Church. My monks are supposed to be simultaneously satirical and respectful. I only ask the following:
no religious conversions of team members
no lying, cheating, stealing, or fornicating by team members
no references to RL atrocities supported by some Orthodox individuals in the 1990s (Serbs, eh... what are they like)

Do we have a definitive ruling yet on the size of Lacrosse teams? According to the Encyclopedia Britannia it's 10-a-side for men but 12-a-side for women, so if we have a single contest -- rather than two separate ones -- the situation could get "interesting"... ;)
Are 'substitutes' used/allowed?
(I think that there might be differences in the dimensions of the playing field, & possibly also in some other aspects of the game, too...)

Roumberre
11-08-2008, 14:50
(I've just realised that I didn't get around to posting Roumberre's details here earlier...)
(This is an Ursine nation, and all of its entrants are anthropomorphic Bears...).
Flagbearer: Callista d'Ursini (= 'Mademurselle de Roumberre', the oldest daughter -- but not the heiress -- of this country's ruler Prince Alberre VIII) who is competing in Badminton (Women's Singles, Women's Doubles, Mixed Doubles), Equestrian (Dressage), and Fencing (Women's Epee, Women's Foil).
Chairbear of the Committee Olympic Roumberree: Alexandre Brumas [senior] (Chancellor of the University of Baree) who is competing in Badminton (Men's Doubles) and demonstrating in Chess Boxing (Men's).
Chaplain: Monsegnurr Androkles DeBwarr.
Doctor: Arrarn LeBruinne MD.
_____________________________________
National Anthem: "For God, Prince, and Country".
Flag: a square banner, divided quarterly; the first quarter is red, charged with a maltese cross in yellow; the second and third quarters, identically, are yellow charged with a bear's paw (basically as in the flag of Bears Armed (http://www.nationstates.net/bears_armed)) in red; and the fourth quarter is red, charged with a sceptre crossing a sword diagonally "in saltire" [i.e. to form an 'X'] with the sceptre's head at upper left & the sword's tip at upper right, both in yellow.
(NOT as shown on the nation's homepage).
Team colours: red & yellow, parti-coloured _
red = upper right & lower left quarters of shirt's front, front half of right-hand leg of shorts, front half of left sock, upper right & lower left quarters of shirt's back, back half of left-hand leg of shorts, back half of right sock;
yellow = upper left & lower right quarters of shirt's front, front half of left-hand leg of shorts, front half of right sock, upper left & lower right quarters of shirt's back, back half of right-hand leg of shorts, back half of left sock.
(Except in those cases where the nature or rules of their events make this impossible, our female contestants will also wear skirts -- of just over knee-length, but split most of the way up the sides -- over their shorts.)
