Ooc: Oh yes, its back. Welcome to all I have rp’d with before, and those I have yet to. Given the very small amount of character RP I and several friends have been left to find, one proposed I start up another year in the academy. A few of them have been my favorite rp’s ever done. With new plot twists and character development, some things have definitely changed from previous years. The story will unfold more in the RP. All are welcome, but I will cut it off. Too many people to rp with can be confusing. Classes will be run differently as well. If you have questions TG me and don’t ruin the pretty thread =) With new plot twists, characters, and facilities, this year will be nothing to miss! Anyway, enjoy.

To all perspective or returning students;

Year seven of the Shentavo Academy shall commence within one months time. We would like to take the time to invite all past students, those who survived, to return and continue to further their educations in the classes we offer. As some people know the Academy has a rather colorful history and is not a place for those with weak minds or a strong will to live as past students have lost their lives and their sanity within our walls. So as a result a waiver must be signed before any application will be approved. Please do not let that detour you from studying here, as you shall not regret your time here. Below is a list of courses offered with course descriptions. Please choose wisely. We recommend no more than two courses be chosen for maximum attainment of material.

Telekenetics-[TBA] This course focuses on non-elemental magics of manipulating the matter around you, expanding what is available and molding it by will. This class does not require any physical prerequisite. This class will also touch upon manipulation of water and either condensing or expanding it to will an utilization in combat. Limit 6 students.

Advanced Combat- [Jin-Shina] This course focuses on advanced combat techniques from various martial arts such as jujitsu, ninjitsu, judo, shaolin kempo, and tae kwando. One must be able to lift at least their own weight, and have prior basic combat experience. Defeating an opponent by any means necessary. Limit 8 students.

Manavex- [Victoria White (with supervision by Quissera Shentavo H.M.)] This course is not for the weak of heart or mind. This is essentially the hardest course in the academy, with a limit of 5 students. Deaths have resulted from taking this course. It focuses on breaking through ones internal shield, controlling them, shattering their thoughts, implanting new ones, or driving one to insanity.

Lore and Languages- [Ravelyn Shentavo]- Focuses on the deciphering of languages, and the advanced dynamics of enochial (angelic). Lore of races and specifically the nations unique build. No prerequisites. Limit of 10 students.

Mending- [Saria Lithiquin ] This course focuses on using inner energy to heal wounds, as well as mix salves and limit the amount of damage taken to oneself or others. Limit of 5 students.

The Campus:
The campus for the Academy is situated on 780 acres of land with the lovely Serrian Lake on the east side of the campus. In addition to the Serrian Lake a circular running track as well as a stable are on campus.

In the buildings there are two pools, both indoor and outdoor, a gym, lounge, and many other facilities. The dorms are of high quality and capable of rivaling many a high-class hotel room. Each dorm includes the following in the room, a bed, dresser, shower, refrigerator, bookshelves, computer, and phone. The only difference in dorm rooms is that Room 17 has a large person shaped imprint on the floor that has been impossible to remove, please mind your step in that room. All of the dorm rooms are located on the second floor.

As for the rest of the building, all classrooms, library, and study hall are located on the third floor with round the clock hours. Staff rooms and accommodations are located on the forth floor and is closed to all students past ten o’clock, twenty two hundred for you military types. The fifth floor is the headmaster’s quarters and is off limits unless you are summoned.

“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” the white haired man sighed, bringing his mismatched eyes, one blue, one red, downwards towards the letter he had just finished signing. He looked to be about twenty eight, with pale skin and a rather decent build. A pair of slender hands set upon his shoulders.

“It’s the only place safe for her”, Ravelyn said in return. Her long raven hair flowed over her shoulders and curled at the bottom. She levitated off of the floor and her golden eyes trailed along the base of his neck. There was a time where she would have done anything to obtain the blood beneath his skin, but now, she was not afflicted with vampirism. The light realm had changed so much in her life. It had changed their lives. Quissera Shentavo was in fact her son. They had a child together. Incest at its greatest it would seem, however that was not truly the case. They had never been of this world by their souls, and even before they had come to this world they had known each other. Things were a lot more complicated than they appeared on the surface. Both had been created by higher powers and both had been under that control until recently, in which a good year of deception and planning had left Quissera Shentavo with all of the Seraphic Powers, and Ravelyn Shentavo cleansed of her own powers, as well as her vampirism. That of course, was the short version.

“I know,” he said quietly. “It’s just a matter of time before they realize she is here and come for her. By that time we need to have her prepared.” He stood up, and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her tight and running his fangs over her shoulder. “You know you look pretty damn good for just having a kid…”

She hit him against the side of the head which sent him back two feet. Rage filled her eyes. “Pretty good?”

Oh shit… “That’s not what I meant. You know your image is burned forever within my mind…you are and always have been stunning.” He smiled, revealing a double set of fangs. She seemed satisfied with the response. He was six foot three inches, while Ravelyn was four foot six inches, although the levitating helped, despite her size she was awfully intimidating. The experience showed behind her golden eyes. How long she had lived! He walked over to her and set his hands upon his shoulders. “How exactly do we explain this to the returning students?”

“This?” she questioned, her voice drifting through the air like a sweet scent. “We don’t have anything to explain. We’ve earned that right.” She smiled, and he laughed.

“I like the way you think,” he commented. “Well then, shall we let the seventh year begin?” He said, and placed the letter through a slot in the desk.

McKay sighed as he looked over the old files that Ash had dug up for him on the Shentavo Academy a few weeks ago when he heard a small beep from his com unit. A letter from Ash.
Hey you remember when I you got me to send you those files a few weeks ago, still a little mad.
Anyways new information has cropped up on the grid. A seventh year is going to be underway. All the information is attached so read up and I've already got you a travel pass to get over there.

I have taken Telekentics and Advanced Combat for the past several years in the Academy and even though it's highly likely I do not need them I do throughly enjoy them. Mending would be interesting as this year I do foresee being wounded several times at the hands of the head master. If the aboves classes are unavailable L&L will have to do simply for the interest of learning new things.
Physical description and background:
Roughly five foot nine with hazel eyes and brown hair and a tanned completion Knightly McKay is a rather bland looking person. However looks can be deceiving as beneath his blood tells otherwise. Turned by Rave to save him from a mortal wound delt by Qui, Knightly shares a small portion of the Shentavo blood line. Since then he has been in regular attendance of the academy to help further understand his new abilities.

Physical description and background:
Hailing from the Monoceros galaxy, and specifically the planet of Atlan of the Aquaria system. Cassidy is a Mist human, a human who by natural properties has the ability to travel much like a mist would. Appearing to be of water, but not, the Mist people are difficult to deal with in this form. However, it is possible to force them to take a more solidified form if not by own personal choice. Despite this strange phenomenon, they are roughly the same strength as humans go, but live a slightly longer expected lifetime of 190-200 years on average. They appear human in every respect when they are in solid form. A moderate ability of telekinesis is inherent in any Mists, necessary to maintain their misty forms.

Frankly I don't mind beeing killed or having my mind shred to pieces. All I want is to improve my ability to defend myself. If this means striking back at my enemies instead of running away, that's fine with me. Thus the choosing of Manavex and AC. Lore and Language is more for the running-and-hiding part. I'm very adaptable but I need to improve this, too.

Physical description and background:
Schama is, indeed, very adaptable. She can change her appearence more or less at will (though it takes some effort to change into something with a highy different mass). Her memories of the last years are very confused but she seems to remember a former attendance of the Academy (under a different name) two or three years ago; maybe that's why she got the invitation. She chose her name, Schama Eras, when she visited the last relicts of civilization on her homeworld, Second Eras, and found the place where she had been, well, created: the ruins of the Schatten-Macht Komplex, a former military research base.

Felix, a tall, strapping youth, smiled -- a brilliant white flash in the darkness.

To wit, I am Sevle. Therefore, I am heir to a legacy stretching back to the dawn of time and beyond -- We are Ancient. We are Fell.

Yet I am young. Therefore, I have much to learn. We learn by being exposed to new and unusual things. Generally, this requires a long, long existence and lots, and lots of fighting. The old way, that way, works well -- it produces combatants that have no equal in this existence. However, it is the old way, and holding blindly to the old ways has brought great suffering to Our People before. That way lies Stagnation.
That way lies Death.
We Are Sevle. We do not stagnate. And our deaths will be glorious.

Physical description and background:
Nearly eight feet tall and magnificently muscled, Felix Illyrian is a prime specimen of the Sevle creature. Crimson-black skin, green eyes shot with warpfire, the snow-white hair that is the mark of the 'great' families of the Sevle. Felix is the son of Cassandros Illyrian, younger brother of Torquemada Illyrian.

Quissera chuckled. “Hey, look at this application.” He turned over Felix’s application. Ravelyn’s eyes looked at the paper. “You know every year we get someone like this. And he wants to take Manavex…” Quissera’s laughter rippled through the room.

“Go easy on him, he does not know what he’s getting into,” Ravelyn said, looking at another application. So Joshua wants to return? After all these years? I do hope you are well, Joshua.. She looked at the application she held within her hand. It had been quite a while since they had last seen each other. The last encounter they had was when Qui had nearly butchered the boy, and she had saved him. She wondered how he’d take the fact that she and Qui were now together. She sighed heavily. She would have to cross that bridge when she came to it.

“Let him in,” Ravelyn continued. “I know that if no one has the gall to take Manavex you’ll be disappointed…”

“True enough.”

Casey was surprsed to see the envelope, more so when he looked at the source. Opening it and reading the letter, he smiled at the thought of going back, this time as a student. He noted the different classes, especially their instructors, pausing to note a few ideas.

"Well, might as well. I have a feeling I might need this soon enough..."

Recent work has led me to believe that a few of my languages are getting rusty from lack of any formal review, including Enochial, as well as a few others. Increasingly growing presence of mentally trained opponents necessitates training in such fields. Telekinesis selected as a third choice or alternate to acquire manipulation of water by will, though deemed not as necessary as either Lore and Languages or Manavex.

Physical Description and Background:

About five centimeters shy of the two meter mark (six-foot five) and lean muscled, Casey doesn't appear to be much more than a fit, tall man with sandy blond hair and somewhat turquoise eyes. However, he has spent many years travelling and fighting, rarely settling down for any period of time before the wanderlust takes him again. He goes where his feet must lead, since most of his time is spent in passing, waiting for that next conflict, that next bloodbath that he will inexorably find himself in.

Headmaster Quissera Shentavo:

I know we didn't exactly part on the best of terms, mostly my fault, from that thing awhile back, and I'd rather not start something on the first day of class. I am officially apologizing, and hoping that a bottle of excellent whiskey might alleviate any lingering bad taste.

Dominic laughed with joy when the envelope found its way to him, how exactly he did not know. He was currently bundled up in a thick jacket somewhere in a mountainous region, in the town square of some little place way in the boonies. He never really paid attention to where he was on a day to day basis, it had all begun blurring together in the first few years of his exile.

Finally though, he had something to do. He looked forward to seeing Rave again, but knew that there would have been some significant staffing changes since he'd last attended. He hoped some of his fellow alums would be attending but knew he shouldn't hold his breath.

Standing up, he carried the letter to a large crate and set it down, he pulled a smaller crate up to him and sat down, opening the letter and reading it. He smiled as he read and pulled a pen from his pocket and began filling out his return.

Well, first off I am a first year graduate of the Advanced Combat class and I know that I've gotten a bit rusty, haven't had a challenge in quite a while. Give me a chance to learn something new and a chance to teach others from my experience. Heh, sounds real official, doesn't it.

As for why Im taking manavex.....well, I guess it just seems like a challenge. I'm always up for those. If I can't get in on those, Lore and Languages should prove useful.



Physical description and background:

Well, guess I'm about 6'2" with black hair to my shoulders and red eyes. Got a bit of stubble growin', and I always wear my shades. I may be able to survive in the sun with my vampirism, but my eyes still hurt in the full sun. I have a musuclar build and numerous scars. Well, I guess really the scars are the only thing to have changed since I was last there.

Pausing to dip the quill back into the ink, he finished with his signature, got one of those around him to make it's X and sent the application off before dipping his feet in the river to wait. He knew the ferryman would yell at him for it but he didn't really care about the old man and his possessiveness of the river.

“What exactly am I supposed to do with this?” Quissera said holding up the bottle of whisky to the light. Shentavo vampires could not eat food, nor drink anything but that which flowed through the veins. He sat in the large chair at the desk and Ravelyn sat on the edge of the desk, flipping through papers.

“I think he meant for you to drink it,” she said, still looking down at the paper she was reading.

“I already have a headache from these wretched kids,” he said, and rubbed his temple as he placed the whisky down upon the desk. Kids? Perhaps they were not considered children in their own respective worlds, but to Ravelyn and Quissera, it would be rather hard to find someone older then them who needed their skills honed. “I’m going to kill at least one the second they start bothering me. That way, they will learn…”

“Dominic’s coming,” Ravelyn interrupted. Quissera looked up.

“Isn’t that the one person who never bothered me?”

“Mmmhmmm. And he’s taking Manavex,” she chuckled as she read his application. She jumped off the edge of the desk, and stood. “So we have two big players coming to the academy so far.”

“Two?” Quissera asked, and Ravelyn’s face went blank.

“Dominic, and Joshua Maxwell,” she said, folding her arms across her chest.

Surprisingly, Quissera didn’t dispute this. He placed his hands behind his head and leaned back in his chair. “I can’t wait to hit him…” Quissera said in response, and was quiet. “I’ll allow him to come back only because of Sephia. You realize this? I’m not going to try and make nice.”

“Oh, I realize.” Ravelyn said, and the two were quiet for a long time. She received another application from the pile. “More fresh blood,” she said quietly. “Honestly, we need as many students as possible this year. We don’t know when or even if they will come for her, but the fact remains is that she is a major target for just about every evil and good in this world.”

Meanwhile, Sephia Shentavo scanned over the applications on her computer. She wanted to read up on who else was going. Seven days old; and full grown already. Shentavo children aged to their full capacity in seven days, and remained that way for eternity. Sephia was no exception. She read about Joshua Maxwell’s aversion to her father. She couldn’t comprehend how if Quissera had almost killed him, why had Ravelyn saved him? It seemed that things had changed since then. She scrolled down. There was some regal guy that she was going to be taking classes with. Wonderful. She would show him what royalty meant! “Cassidy…Schama…Felix…Casey, oh…” She pulled up Dominic’s file. “Dominic Skyler Wrathe…” she read through his application, and laughed. “He’s kind of cute…” She smirked, then continued on.

Kievshe, floating sky castle

“So you’re sure the academy is safe?” Tere said, looking into the mirror in his hand.

The pair of purple eyes stared back. “Very sure. It’ll take a long time for something to break through those charms, if at all.”

Tere sighed and shook his head. Looking back up his eyes were still mismatched, one purple, the other blue. His hair was half and half different colours also, black and blonde and intertwined at the back in a pony tail, his cloak billowed slightly as he walked through the archway into the now dead covered rose garden. He gasped and put his arm over his face at the smell. The Garden was dead. Completely. The water had turned a foul dark colour and the plants were all dead, including the dripping light flowers, they still oozed the same viscous black fluid he had seen earlier. He took a small jar out of his pocket and held it under the flower and let the fluid drip in. He capped it with a cork and sighed standing up and looking around at the mess. There were only a few Kievshe residents here trying to clean up the mess, but to no avail. No magic was able to grow it back and nothing seemed to be able to be done.

Lathua stood in the middle of it all with tears in her eyes, trying to organize a clean up that, it turned out, was all but useless..

Tere simply left her to it, she was trying to lead the cleanup there, with a sigh he walked back outside into the sunlight and looked up, holding the fluid in the jar up, it squirmed and writhed in the sunlight.

“What are you…” he muttered in his overlapping voices before sighing and vanishing from the castle with a flicker of the wind.

Porphyria, Castle of the Dark Angels Regiment, Midlonia

The wind moves Heruss’ balcony curtains slightly as he sat by the fire, sipping his tea.

“Hello Tere.” He said simply without looking up, instead staring at the fire. “Back from another trip?”

Tere simply put the small jar with the “shadow” in it onto the pile of books next to Heruss and sat in the wing backed chair opposite.

“I see.” Heruss said as he lifted it up and peered at it. He then motioned to the letter on the small table next to Tere who picked it up and read it. He then looked at Heruss for a moment and raised his eyebrow.

“Apparently he wants to be able to match me” heruss said with a shrug and a slight laugh. “I also added a slight personal note to Ravelyn to it. Make sure she’s given that also.”

Physical description and background: Leftenant K. Heruss of the Midlonian Vampiric Regiment of the Dark Angels. Known combat experience of over 150 years against varying degrees of unusual and paranormal threats, so not strictly interested in the combat aspects that the academy has to offer.
Is more interested in the languages and lore of the Angelics and their Serphic masters, as well as the ability to heal rapidly and aid people. Husband of Asopher Heruss [Whom you both know personally].

Physical description: 5’9. Medium Build. Physically fit. Brown hair, green eyes.

Kristian opened the door to Heruss office and stood with a big bag slung over his back, he had “forsaken” his Dark Angels Uniform for just the great coat and hat, underneath opting for a plain white shirt and jeans instead.

“I’m ready.” Kristian said with a smile. “Eager to go too.”

Heruss got up from his chair and walked over to Kristian, hugging him and kissing him. “Good luck, it’ll be tough you know.”

“I know.” Kristian said as he kissed Asopher again. “But I want to be able to help out more and do more, so I think I need to do this. Toughen me up.”

“I know.” Heruss said. “Make sure she gets that letter, ok?”

“I will.” Tere said as he pocketed it, throwing the application into the fire, where it vanished as it was sucked up the flue. “That’s the application in anyway.” he said simply. “The other I’ll deliver personally.”

With that he took Kristian’s hand and vanished from the study.

Heruss nodded and sat back down, opening the book he had been half reading and sipping his tea, it was another book from the Library of all. The difference between this one and the others that liberally littered his study though, was that it was brand new.

It was rare for such a book to be found in the beastiery and mythology section.

Especially a new one.

He hoped that the page he had copied out was enough to help them at least.

I spent thirteen years with the Vulpine Marine Force, and achieved the highest combat level available. I instructed Vulpine Marine Martial Arts during the last three years of my service. Now, I wish to learn other forms of martial arts to widen my spectrum of knowledge and better myself. I was enlisted as a medic for five years of my service, and thus would like to take Mending to increase my effectiveness as a healer.

Physical description and background:
I am a snow leopard bestial, or anthromorph as some call it. I am 5'8" tall and weigh 168lbs. None of that weight is extraneous flab, unless you count breasts, which I don't tend to. I think of them more as decorative distractions and counterweights, and have used them to good effect in previous battles.

I enlisted in the Vulpine Marine Force at 18 years of age after completing primary education and two years of advanced studies. I served five years as a field medic and the remaining eight as special forces. During my first ten years of service I trained in the Vulpine Marine Martial Arts program, attaining black belt level with instructor qualifications. I ended my service with an honorable discharge to seek out instruction in other forms of martial arts and continue my training.

Something I figured I should point out now about Francesca so I don't have to remind people too often.

She doesn't know any way to suppress her ambient magical ability to anyone with sensitivity to such. As far as the normal five senses are concerned she's just a normal enough girl... unnatural senses that can pick up the presence of magic (which I imagine half the Academy has) will be able to notice she's not normal from any variation of distances you like depending on how sensitive your sense is, player digression. If you have the ability to sense magic you got it. If circumstances are such it becomes more obvious I'll note it ICly along with more details about type being used and the like if needed, but that's more during active.

Basically, Midchildian magic isn't subtle. Normal people can't naturally see they are magical because there aren't going to be physical effects usually, when there are I'll describe them. Just a heads up, I imagine it's pretty unimportant as everyone has their own oddity and it's pretty much expected by everyone in The Shentavo Academy, but it's something I feel I should note in advance.

So yeah, Francesca's way of hiding her presence is as crude as a on/off switch. ;_;

Earth II: Spent a bit of time trying to get a idea for what Schama's normal human looking form looks like. I've got a reasonable idea about everyone else now I've carefully gone over everything, but couldn't find more then some basic clues. I understand she's a shape changer and is making the effort to look normal so it's not too important, I just like to know what that normal looks like.

So far I've got: Black eyes, 5'5" (167cm), white clothing. Right so far? If you could, could you give me a brief description of the form she's fitting in with. I'd Telegram you but I can't remember what nation you actually are and I can't find 'Earth II' or 'Earth 2' on the nation list in the game proper.

Vulpes Vixenis: Quick question seeing as I'm asking Earth, may as well throw this here too, but I wanted to check with you about exactly how bestial Shyne is. I'm currently picturing her as a occasionally upright walking Snow Leopard but with hints at being slightly humanoid (for example, her 'paws' seem to me like they'd be human like enough to use the weapons described on her entrance, along with the application using the word Anthromorph).

So a few questions; is she only 'wearing' her fur? Which features aren't entirely like that of a large feline? for example are her hands paw-like but still hands? It's not hugely important as I can simply gloss over any descriptions, but its nice to get a image in mind for possible culture shock.

I think I've got everyone else down though. Just wasn't sure about you two.

Shyne is equally comfortable on all fours as walking upright, though she tends to prefer the latter. Her training as a soldier focused more on building on what nature had given rather than the more humanoid aspects. Essentially, her build is humanoid, ball and socket shoulder and hip joints, flattened chest with breasts stemming from there, flattened hips, slimmer waist, classic female form (they were designed as pleasure slaves, after all). Her legs are animalistic, with the classic "extended" heel. She essentially walks on tiptoe as her heel never touches the ground unless she is sitting on her haunches. There are rough pads on the undersides of her toes and the ball of her foot as well as fingertips and palm to allow traction, as the only unfurred skin on her body is her nose and the inside of her ears. She has fully functional hands with opposable thumb included, though her fingers are somewhat stubby, though still very dextrous. Her senses and overall abilities are more in line with her feral cousins, though her mental capacity is more human in nature, thanks to an expanded cranium. Diet is primarily carnivorous, raw meat and such, though she can eat cooked meat just fine, and she can physically ingest an omnivorous diet. She just prefers the taste of meat. So far as behavior and such go, she's also more in line with her feral cousins. If you startle her, expect her to react as a cat more than a human. If she doesn't like you, she'll growl and glare. She's not at all good at hiding her feelings. Ears, tail, and general attitude will give her away every time. She has a very deep dislike of clothing, mostly because she very much likes her own body, and it is quite acceptable among her own people to complete eschew unnecessary garments. So, yes, she generally goes around au naturale. Naughty parts are pretty much hidden behind the fur, though you can make them out if you look close enough. In case you were wondering, she does have a dual line of nipples along her stomach, 6 in total, though these remain flush to the skin unless they are needed to feed a litter. She is highly flexible and has great strength and body control. She can move in any way a human can, but with the grace of a lifelong gymnast, though this is just natural for her. Feline gymnasts are another breed entirely.

If there's anything else you'd like to know about her, please feel free to ask.

Finding any of my nations would take an act of god (this just to satisfy the overly dramatic part of me). The last one (which, accidentally, was Earth II) got deleted nearly two years ago, starving to death. I neglected the poor little things a bit.
About Schama: Now that you mention it: I really never did describe her properly. An unfortunate oversight on my part.

167 cm (or 5'5'') are correct, black eyes, too. I never described her clothing so I think you must refer to the first waking-up scene (page 6). The only white clothes in that scene are the bed clothes and blanket (partly sticking out of her body and the clothes she wears). I’m sorry if my command of the English tongue isn’t always up to what I want to describe and therefore leads to misunderstandings. I sometimes try to do too much.

Now a general description of Schama Eras’ appearance (for the moment. This may, of course, change every minute. If it does, as it did at the lake, I will give a new description IC): She is, as known, 167 cm tall (or short) and well proportioned (that is to say, she doesn’t have too much fat where it doesn’t belong and just enough where it does). Her eyes are, oddly enough, a deep and true black; not just very dark brown but really black. Her hair, on the other hand, is rather unspectacularly brown, slightly curled and cut to shoulder lengths. Her complexion is that of a typical north or middle European, white just this side of being pale with a small number of freckles on her face.
She usually wears white sneakers, blue-jeans (a bit worn out) and a jeans jacket over a dark t-shirt (no ‘look-I’m-wearing-a-white-t-shirt’-nonsense alá Rave ;) ). Again, changes will be mentioned inGame.

Ok, thanks for that the both of you, much appreciated. Francesca has only really gotten a glance at Schama at the foyer and was way to busy to notice any more then a normal looking girl (comforting). As I said, it's more for future reference so when I get around to getting seeing more of the students I can react based on their own descriptions and form that vital first impression, most students and staff surprisingly seem normal from the outside with few odd features noticeable up close.

Yep, you are right. First impression and all. And here is something else I forgot to mention (playing the same character in different forums and on different time frames really tends to disrupt one's logistics [so to speak]. ): Schama, in her usual disguise, looks like she is anywhere between 20 and 25 years old.

And what if it was something similar but not? He thinks it's similar to what he knows as a quick stepping [which more often than not can be just about seen due to the speed and has been roleplayed by me and Freethinkers already]. You can prove it's different during the lesson.

Seems to me you're deriving your version of Shadow-stepping from that of the Chronicles of Riddick, specifically the Necro folks (although the only one to demonstrate such was the boss dude) ability to do just what you had described. They could move very fast with such an ability, for their soul moved first from one location to the other, dragging the physical body a split second later, thus avoiding a potential attack. However, Riddick had figured out a way to be a step ahead (he guessed the person's movement correctly, correlating with said person's desire to win a battle.), and slew his foe at last.

And the necro guy's soul was already halfway in the underworld (Underverse as they called it), thus lending him enhanced powers.

Even the seemingly god-like Necroking was killed, because while the very technique was not defeatable, his desires and human nature were what defeated him. He became predictable, and thus was slain. That's what I was trying to have Cassidy asking a question about. If the very procedure could be defeated directly or indirectly.

To essentially ignore such a valid question only begets one's foolishness.

Whether you acquire an ability or not will be random. Rolling a die for each character. The better you Rp, however, the more points you will start off with, and the more likely you are able to learn it. So put some time and effort into your posts. Not everyone will be passing.

Doesn't matter what size die. If you pass over the midway mark you make it, if below it you don't, and if either of the two midpoint numbers you have somewhat of a comprehension. Points for good posts to add to your dice roll. Lastly, why would I have any need to be dishonest? My characters aren't rolling, hmm?

Well, to be fair as I read it she's talking about having some underlying system for whether you learn whatever she's teaching and it wouldn't have any effect on what you already know in character. So it's not something I'm going to worry about, in your case it's whether or not you learn a ability you imagine your character wouldn't normally have a clue to do so if you don't get it you've not really lost anything, and if you do you can still say that ICly you don't think you're character would have been able to learn it (it is your character after all).

As for honesty, that's something you'll generally have to trust her on I suppose, I don't mind one way or another if I get whatever ability is at the end of the two lessons I'm doing because when it comes down to it they are extra, failing doesn't change my circumstances beyond not mastering the technique.

I'll admit, it takes some control away in that you don't necessarily learn everything taught, on the up side the idea is to avoid the automatic assumption you master something without effort, using die just changes it from a arbitrary decision on the part of the GM to a partially luck based chance.

I can kind of see where you are coming from given you've joined a class for Advanced Combat which doesn't suggest magic... that said, you've already pointed out Shyne is considered the best in her country, so you have to wonder how open her mind is to these new experiences when getting better then 'national best' through mundane means is a feat in of itself most people take a lifetime to achieve.

That aside, I see she's taken Mending which unlike AC doesn't suggest anything but magic. So if she thinks she's wasting time trying to grasp it in one subject, you have to wonder why she took one entirely based on it in another.

Don't get me wrong, I played a character useless with magic for two years in a row before and they have their own merits and role-playing that moment of starting to break through and achieve something has merits and development potential, I just wanted to point out that Shyne should expect a bit of magic to be on the menu if she took it as one of her choices, nothing wrong with being new to it and having trouble.

A standard six sided die is the best thing to go for perhaps.

I dunno, if one were to say Jin lets you practise a few times before doing the same two shots as he did at Sephia I'd probably run it something like this:


1 - Failure on both, serious wounding.
2 - Failure on first attempt, less serious wounding
3 - Managed to dodge both shots [just], couple of light cuts.
4 - Managed to dodge both shots [just], scratch marks.
5 - Dodged second shot well, just missed first shot, one scratch mark.
6 - Dodged both, top marks and no wounds, scratches etc.

Also, for a "multiplyer" I'd say would depend on content of your posts, while entirely up to Ravelyn, the GM I'd suggest something like basing it on rolls, so...

If you write one line, you get a roll and the result stands.

If you write a paragraph or two on your worries, how you may find it difficult etc etc etc, 2 rolls, and whichever is the highest roll stands.

Something like that anyway, not sure if Rave wants to take on my suggestions or not, as that's entirely her due as the GM of this thread.

Beyond that for fairness "Faith in the GM" is all I can say. Though for a first lesson I wouldn't really expect everyone to be dead perfect, regardless of "origin" nation [Technological, Magical etc. I strike a balance by being high tech with a magical "underworld" but I'm rambling...]

To think such things as "not worth it" would be silly and any moaning and such against the GM over any decisions she takes will probably count against you later in the RP.

S'what I think anyway. Up to Rave wether to adopt it or something similar.

Yeah, have faith in the GM. I can't imagine Rave being ... whatever you want to call it. And NO, I'm not brownnosing. Not in the least. Wouldn't dare do something like that with this most outstanding and most splendid example of a Gamemaster as well as human being in general. This woman of my dreams, this goddess of Roleplaying. Who could even imagine doing such a thing? Not me.

EDIT: Though It may help to explain the system to the rest of us so nobody complains, or bitches or whines about any results. I know it's a pain, but it makes sure everything is squared away with everyone and we can refer it to anybody who complains.

Well, yes, I understand that Mending is magical in nature, but she takes that for granted. She believes in the power of the spirit and nature for curing all ills. So using magic to heal is something she is very much open to and would be able to grasp a lot better than the shadowstep process. She's very grounded when it comes to combat. It'll take a bit of having her perceptions and preconceptions blasted before she really gets it.

I see I'll have to get used to cooperating with players whose characters actually can sense magic again. Over the last month' my RPs were more tech orientated so I somekind of forgot.
This duplication trick of Schama's is nothing magical. I can change that, to a degree, so someone with the ability to sense magic, like Kristian, will feel something when she does it. Even in the RPs which play in her 'future' she never realized how she really did it, so that's not a problem.
But, and this is really important for this character of mine, please keep in mind that whenever Schama changes her form there is no magic involved. It's (and this is so highly OOC that it requires everyone who reads it to shoot him-/herself first ;) ) based on a very advanced nanotechnology and the fact that Schama doesn't have a body she could reshape at the first place. Tumtetumtetum...

By tommorow I'll start the end to the class [hopefully], because the students with downtime also need something to do =) I believe Manavex is going to be the next class followed by telekenetic, then healing. After which we will have one more week of classes and then the fun will begin. Please make note of all you are going to be learning over the next two weeks, write it down, mark the posts, so when the time comes you have a list of abilities at your disposal. =)

This duplication trick of Schama's is nothing magical. I can change that, to a degree, so someone with the ability to sense magic, like Kristian, will feel something when she does it. Even in the RPs which play in her 'future' she never realized how she really did it, so that's not a problem.

Francesca is only assuming it's magic, she doesn't have any way to know different. She goes off observation which when you see someone pull out a near perfect duplicate of your book, it's a magic trick. It would help if she weren't in a Academy that specialises in magic, so when something odd happens, she figures it's probably magic, not science.

Keep in mind, when we post [hopefully i speak for everyone], we see through our own character's eyes. We don't have any outside information that would tell us otherwise. For example, if someone writes in their post, that they are a magic user, but doesn't say it openly nor does anything to suggest that they are a magic user, no one else has any knowledge of what they are. What I look over mostly are the actions of what they do, and what they say, and delete everything else said when writing in character, but ooc I find it interesting.

Wasn't aimed at you but at Midlonia (who seems to be drawing a lot of flak tonight lol) since he said that Kristian, thanks to his ankh or whatever, could actually sense Schama's magic. That Francesca expects it to be magic is understandable.

It was just an assumption based on how I would react if someone told me he had head-hunters after him. Seemed resonable to me, especially in light of Fran's own history. I know, I shouldn't have written anything like that at all, sorry. Didn't really think about it at that moment.

I've not actually explained Fran's history, just small bits of information she's been willing to offer up without setting off alarm bells which was rather the point. Still, it doesn't matter too much because I wrote around it in the end, it's just a pet peeve of mine, one which isn't a problem but I thought I'd best point it out so as to avoid it happening again.

I enjoy that both Francesca and Schama think they understand one another, Schama seeing Fran as a fairly normal girl with magic from a happier world, Francesca thinking Schama is a mage just like her who was hunted down for being different and nothing more. Both are hiding things and they are causing misunderstandings. It's kind of cute and provides something to work with when perceptions are shattered another time. I get the impression you just meant to say Schama thought Francesca would react like that and it came out a bit funny (happens to me sometimes, English is my first language and I'm still terrible with grammar sometimes). To save us editing she did react like that, but not for what Schama thought.

Lets face it, normal people would react a bit shocked to find out the student they just met is being hunted down, but in the Shentavo academy most people are playing some combat monster who likely has some twisted tragic past themselves and finding out someone else is being hunted down soon looses effect and starts to seem pretty normal for strange magic folk. That said, Francesca is trying hard to look normal out of habit and for her own reasons.

So never mind, don't worry about it. I've worked around it for the moment, just like I said try to empathise that your character is expecting a certain reaction if one hasn't been played out by the other person yet. Same applies to me, if I assume something incorrect about your character I expect you to correct me on it and I'll edit around it or whatever you ask, mistakes happen.

Yes. She is talking to herself though. Why should she be a 'prize'. she feels like she is being objectified and singled out when she just really wants to fit in, and maybe have a friend or two, but due to her nature it's hard. She feels alienated.

Confused me for a moment too because they talked about their plan before heading to the library, but then, it took a lot of reading and re-reading to fully understand their groups positions at the time; probably because I was reading it in the wrong order to work out how I landed in the middle of a bit of drama.

Really really sorry for the absence. Mom sold the house and conscripted all us kids to come help move out of the old and into the new, even though half of us don't even live there any more. Well, life happens, I guess. I really do apologize.

Same here. Well, except that it isn't about my mom selling her house and moving. Or about moving at all. My new job's just eating up a lot of time (going to get worse before it gets better I'm afraid). I'll try to look up the rp every second day or so but I can't promise anything. Maybe I'll manage a look every day or only once or twice a week, don't know :(

To be honest, it's not that I don't have time. I've got more then enough time to post something and I've been making a point of checking every couple of days to make sure things haven't progressed to the point I've missed something important Francesca would actually be involved in. It's more that I've just been lazy about it; I've got three days free time after missing my first lesson, this third day I've yet to post anything about Francesca's activities mostly because writing a couple paragraphs to note I'm still around seemed like wasted effort... poor excuse, but I figured I'd be safe just to watch.

If it comes up, Francesca spends the morning exercising, running around the campus, then decides to spend time in the library to get used to the basic information about where she is, general history, significant (publicly known) locations and people and other such minor things, mostly letting her mind wander in the vast depth of knowledge she has access to for most the day before hanging out in the lounge with a book and a drink from early evening until she decides to go to sleep or is otherwise interrupted. All of her activities can be interacted with/interrupted if anyone needs to, but it's not essential, it's just a idea where she is should it become important for some reason. Today she's back in denim shorts, simple red t-shirt and a matching headband. She always wears her jade bracelets.

General Mood for Psychics/Empaths: Happy (leaning towards optimistic), Relaxed, Curious.

Still has a strong aura of magic, never attempts to hide it through sheer ignorance of how to do so.

I might be getting evicted from my apartment on monday, so don't expect anything from me til at least tuesday. Will try and post tomorrow though.
