WorldVision Song Contest 6 Signups (Open to all)

So, for those who have never participated before, here's the breakdown:

This is baisically an NS version of Eurovision (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurovision_Song_Contest), with the same basic structure of countries selecting, performing and voting on songs. Except this contest open to countries in any region. Countries paricipating in the contest are also allowed to enter a maximum of two puppet nations.

After the signups, the contest is done through two RP threads. The first is the national finals thread, in which all countries select their songs for the contest. The second thread is the actual contest, in which all the performances (with song lyrics) and votings are posted as well as anything else you may want to post (commentaries, behind-the-scenes events, etc).

Oh, and one last thing, all songs in the contest must be original. No cover versions. Parodies are okay though.

I know there isn't much organization around here, but do we have any rules about puppets? I'm not personally interested in entering any, but I think it might be a good idea to have a rule or two. In the first contest (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=518859&highlight=worldvision), there was a suggested limit of two nations per user, but I don't think that's around anymore. Either a limit or a rule about identifying puppets seem useful: I can imagine some unscrupulous person entering lots of nations and having them give the most points to each other. Not that any of you would do that. :)

Good idea? Bad idea? Meh-worthy excess bureaucracy?

Yeah, I've kind of thought about this as well, and although the idea of a user using lots of puppets to cheat in the contest sems rather... unlikely, I've decided to limit it to 3 countries per user.

If chosen to host, we will host the contest in the city of Wavispa, in the Blue Islands Stadium, big enough to hold 120 000 people, and has a temporary stage that will be set up if we get to host. Located near the cultural area of the city, which also has wonderful selection of hotels, stores, restaurants, and parks.

If we are given the honour of hosting such a prestigious event, our capital Arugula will be the location of the contest. More specifically, we plan to hold the contest at the Arugula Arena, notable for its massive retractable roof and its capacity of 100,000. The arena is located on the edge of the central business district and is adjacent to Crisantemo, the city's preeminent cultural and entertainment district. In addition, the arena is served by its own metro station, lies close to a plethora of hotels catering to all budgets, and is conveniently situated near one of the key stations of the airport railway that links Arugula to its international airport.

Moreover, if our bid is successful, the Ruccolian government will temporarily lift all visa restrictions for the week of the contest and will open its airspace to unlimited charter flights from participant nations.

Scotchpinestan Host Bid

The Douglas Civic Center, located in the heart of Scotchpinestan's capital, seats 25,000 and will be the location of the contest. The smaller, enclosed arena will allow for the most intimate seating arragement and the best acoustics in Worldvision history.

The farthest seat from the action will only be 102 feet away from the center of the stage. The stage will be located in the middle of the floor, and the stage raises and lowers in order to allow acts to enter the arena from below (in the absence of the traditional curtain). The stage also can be raised up to 25 feet in the air, allowing acts to perform at the level of the second deck of seats if they wish (so as to be closer to their home fans perhaps).

Overflow seating, if needed, will be available at nearby Douglas International Speedway. Fans should note, however, that covered seating is limited at this venue.

Security will be beefed up for the event, with metal detectors and bomb-sniffing dogs at every entrance, and airspace restrictions in effect during the event.

That's not important. You just do a national final in the first thread, and post your song's lyrics in the other. The only problem is... the first thread hasn't been started yet.

Although it's really up to the host what to use as a logo, if anything (none of the contests so far have had a logo), but IMO the flag of the host nation should be more promininent, and I would also like to ask why it's a jpeg?

Yeah I know that, I just don't want to be one of those that you have to wait for in five weeks.

But we will be back fo th WV7 though.

Allright, well see you in WSC*7 then. However, it doesn't really seem to do much when the host seems to be one of those countries you keep waiting for weeks on end to do something. He won't even start the national finals thread, and that's just copying over the countries list and adding one sentence. I didn't vote him.

*Not V. WorldVision is one word

Ah, okay. In that case I'll ask him if he wants to use it or not. I actually agree about the flag bit - that's the logo's biggest limitation. I also have a PNG version, but I noticed that the forums don't load PNG files properly, hence the JPEG file...

Should I go and send Scotchpinestan a TG, or have you already done so?

I have not. I though I would just let him see the thread and decide from that. If you want to send TG's, go ahead, it deosn't really make a difference for me.
