New Environmental Atlantian Treaty Organistation

The growing state of our world cannot be ignored. For too long our existence on this planet has simply been to harvest the earth for its resources, always taking and never giving. The many peoples of the world should be in harmony with Mother Earth, not in a perpetual state of war in which there can be only one victor.

Oil, coal and gas will not last us forever, nor will there be a never-ending hole to dump our rubbish, nor clean air for our children's children to breathe.

Peoples of earth, I call upon you all to join me in a new organisation with the goal of bringing about a conservation and improvement of the natural environment that is all around us, both for its own sake as well as its importance to our respective many and varied civilisations. We can once again live in harmony with the world alongside us, for its destiny is intrinsically linked with our own.

I invite you all to join the New Environmental Atlantian Treaty Organisation, an alliance of like-minded nations based not on military or political ties, but on a deep bond over the love of the earth.

OOC: This thread is aimed at modern/post-modern nations who use too many fossil fuels, don't recycle enough, spout their pollution into the world around them and generally make a post-industrial mess of things. If you would like to take ICly your nation into being a wind/wave/solar-powered country where landfills are the exception, public transport is ubiquitous and generally you can ICly feel smug about it - all without harming the economy too much - then this is the thread for you. The more intangible benefits will include international friends and co-operation, along with trade, skills and just generally something to be a part of.

Starblaydia itself is on a 'Green' trip at the moment, and is gearing up to be an eco-friendly nation over the next few months/World Cups or so.

Oh, and I think it's a groovy acronym.

Manhattan Prime is excited by the posibilities of this alliance, and as our country's infrastructure has suffered severe, it makes sense to rebuild the nation in as green a fashion as possible. We note however that any such agenda cannot take place until the civil war in our nation has abated.

The government of Ad’ihan welcomes this Starblaydi initiative with interest. With the Greens in power, we are very much focussed in continuing our work with regards to the environment with environmentally-friendly policies and legislation. After a thorough review of the proposal, I will personally sponsor a bill in the Senate to sign on to the treaty. It is certainly one that I hope will achieve many things.

I Massimo Bellini, would be honored to join such an organization, due to the fact that Sicliano, has always been about preserving the natural beauty of the surroundings , with its beautiful architecture and marble late 12 centurie ruins I for one say we need this to teach the future generations what beauty that lay before them.

I Massimo Bellini, hereby, apply, for the N.E.A.T.O.

Official Communique of the Confederacy of Kenavt

Dear who is to be informed at the great nation of Starblaydia;

We, of the Confederacy, would be delighted to join your New Environmental Atlantian Treaty Organisation. Here in Kenavt, we are moving toward energy independence, as a nuclear program is being kicked off later this week. We are also making it (in steps) to be mandatory to have a small wind turbine and solar cells on top of your building, in order to help reduce carbon emissions. Fuel cells are heavily subsidized by the government, so fuel cell cars are merely a couple of years away, and plug-ins are being released this year.

We would be honoured to join your NEATO and become a member.

Signed,

Kenavt
Premier

Falcania's waste incineration/biomass-burning energy centres, sheer volume of cars, and astounding reliance on air traffic, respectfully decline the offer.
Bettia
22-05-2008, 15:21
Just like our flag, the Blessed Realm of Bettia has always been rather green when it comes to environmental policies - after all, our huge rainforests can't protect themselves. Therefore, the Bettian government happily signs up to NEATO.

TO: The government of Starblaydia and/or the leaders of NEATO

FROM: Kinyak Vraili, Minister of the Environment, The UDFB

The UDFB would be very interested in joining NEATO. We have already set targets for cutting the polluting waste from factories and power stations, we are also in the process of building more recycling stations. I believe that joining NEATO would help us to clean up our environment further.

Kelssek's prime minister Pierre Gautain has acknowleged calls for Kelssek to become a member of NEATO, a newly formed international organisation founded by Starblaydia which hopes to promote environmental conservation and cooperation. He said his government would look into the matter and emphasised what he called his government's commitment to environmentally sound policies.
