Any interest.
I'm thinking each nation gets to submit up to 3 of its top corps...scorination wise, scores would get progressively higher and higher throughout the season.

I don't know all that much about it but it's the kind of thing my nation would go for ICly, so you can count me in.

For those who don't know, drum & bugle corps is essentially a bunch of valved bell-front brass (all pitched in G), percussion, and "auxiliary" (dancers who also use flags and rifles and sabres...originally this group actually presented the national flag as part of the program) marching in formations and playing on a football field, and possibly a "front ensemble" consisting of percussion instruments that aren't really marchable and that also plays some other gadgets.

My nation uses more fife and pipe then brass, and a lot of percussion, a lot of Celtic/African influence.
Would there be category for that.

If there's enough interest, perhaps.

Sorry man, I will RP a brass band. No point in being difficult.

All right, this is just what my inner band geek needs, lol.
btw, what scoring system would be used, dci, boa, or a custom system?

Definitely not BOA...this is drum corps, not marching band!
I was thinking perhaps an older variant of the DCI and DCA systems, based on the knock-off "tick" system rather than the present "build-up" system, which rewards the design team more than the performers. Special preference will be given to more fan-friendly shows, and the obscure, pseudo-"intellectual" shows that have become popular of late will likely not do as well.

Here's my preliminary thoughts on a scoring system:
Corps are scored in ten captions:
Marching & Maneuvering - Individual
Marching & Maneuvering - Ensemble
Auxiliary - Individual
Auxiliary - Ensemble
Bugles - Individual
Bugles - Ensemble
Battery Percussion - Individual
Battery Percussion - Ensemble
Sideline Percussion - Individual
Sideline Percussion - Ensemble
There are no captions for General Effect.
Individual captions are adjudicated by field-level judges; ensemble captions are adjudicated by booth judges.
Each corps starts with 100 points in each caption, and any flaw or mistake a judge detects results in a deduction of one-tenth of a point from that judge's particular caption. After the performance, all final caption scores are added together and divided by ten to give the corps's final score.
Thoughts?
