Once again it is that time for the quadrennial competion for everyone who flames out in the World Cup or the Cup of Harmony!

Even though the CoH is still ongoing, we don't care, we'll still invite them anyway!

So here are the 24 lucky teams that have one last chance to win a title (although an unoffical one) before the next World Cup begins again.

The Orion Star Empire formally requests to be the first alternate in this, the Sixth Cup of Oxen. The Orion Fenrirs are itching to be included in international soccer competition.

Professor Gearlosse and the Robo-Ducks will return and win this Competition!

After some pressure from ediraf, combined with the 30th anniversary of the Oxen Cup, Starblaydia will send a team (for, I believe, the first time?)

Yo, we're back! We might actually send a proper team for once.

The Tynelian Soccer Federation accepts this invitation in an attempt to give the team more time together in the hopes of finally getting better performances in future cups. Also this will reunite the entire class of 27 that still actually shows up for the world cup considering how we never seem to play each other at any other time.

((ooc though i probably won;t be able to do much RP wise for the next week or so due to RL. if i don;t get a chance to post my roster use the WC squad for a lineup.))

Following the national team's early exit from the World Cup, and the subsequent removal of Dave Hollow as manager, the Ad’ihan Football Federation appointed Hollow's immediate predecessor, Luke Evans, as caretaker manager of the national team.

Evans will lead the Ad’ihan side in the 6th Oxen Cup, in which the AFF's minimum expectations are a semi-final finish. It is expected that if he meets the AFF's goal, Evans will be reinstated to his old job on a full-time basis.

The desk of the Dancougar Football Association is piled high with letters from fans congratulating them on their run, and inquiring as to the marital availability of Shishio Jinguuji. The last thing we need are sqealing fangirls, although I guess we invited it onto ourselves when we decided to cross-promote the World Cup with the anime Great Striker Onizuka. Blaugh.

Anyway, the president of the association sits as his computer checking email. In Emacs. Hmm... Qazox is having something called an Oxen Cup. Oh, right, there was supposed to be one o' thems last time, except there wasn't, and there was a Turtle instead, and they decided to send the college champs, Rizzi. That didn't pan out so well.

"Year of the Ox now, is it?" he sighs. "Well... it's more football. The fans like more football. Ah, but who do we send?" The national team again? That was probably no good, most of them would be gearing up for their new careers. And sending a single college team would invite savage beatings and other unwanted badness. But maybe an all-star team made up of players who didn't qualify for the previous college tournament? That would be average enough to serve as a footballing barometer.

If I get 24 teams:
The groups will consist of 6 groups of 4 teams each playing each other in a double round robin format (6 games). After the first round, ALL 24 teams will be seeded 1-24 and play in a single-elimination "winner" bracket, with the 8 highest seeds recieving byes into the round of 16. After each round, the losing teams will be placed in a repecharge to determine final positions. The repecharges will be elimination until each position is earned.
2nd round losers to play for 17th-24th.
3rd round losers to play for 9th-16th.
Quaterfinal losers to play for 5th-8th.

We must respectfully decline the offer. Pressing engagements at home in preparation for the OFC and the BoF, as well as our continuing tour in the DBC are putting stress on our already stressed schedules. We nonetheless wish you much luck in preparation for the Oxen Cup.

So far all but 4 teams have replied. I can do the tourney with 20 teams, (which works out good) but still am keeping my fingers crossed for the full 24 teams.

Cutoff time for confirmation of invites (or sign-ups) will be Friday May 9th at 10:00 pm EDT (or 9:30 pm Qazox Standard Time...lol) The group draw and schedule with be posted shortly thereafter (as the CoH and WC should end by then or at least be at the finals).

IF there is 22 teams, then there will be 4 groups, 2 groups of 6 and 2 groups of 5, and it will be single round robin, instead of double.
