The True God of Aerion

The massive World Headquarters of Amkarethz Holdings encompassed the Provincial Palace, and a large 200 floor glass and steel skyscraper that had been recently built adjacent to the palace, as well as smaller buildings that had been adjoined to the Palace. The Provincial Palace was a grand marble domed structure that, while not rivaling the Royal Palace in Astevane, was almost a mile wide. It was the former residence of the Governor and capitol building of the province of which half had been granted to Amakarethz Holdings as Aerion's first Corporate Autonomous Territory. Amkarethz Holdings governed this territory as practically the sole governing authority, with only the Crown itself to answer to and pay taxes to. Amkarethz Holdings was the largest megacorporation of the Grand Kingdom of Aerion, and owned several large subsidiary corporations. Many of these corporations had moved their headquarters, and divisional headquarters into the nearby business district in what was the provincial capital and now the territory's capital.

As with many Aerionian provincial capitals, which were almost all megaopolises or megacities, not far from the core historical district where the Palace was massive skyscrapers dotted the landscape. Though even the historical capitol district had began to look more architecturally modern though the territorial grant from the Crown had stipulated that certain historically preserved places could not be altered. In addition of course all citizens remained royal citizens of the whole Grand Kingdom, they only were governed by the corporation since they lived within the territory.

Inside the provincial palace at one end of a massive marble corridor an Eastern Aerionian receptionist sat at a small metallic desk, looking rather out of place to her surroundings. Her loose white shirt, and short black skirt were more fashionable than the typical garb of receptionist in the corporate structure. She wore a lense over one eye that scrolled data, and in her ear was a small wireless microphone. She was exceptionally beautiful by typical standards of Aerionian society. Skinny, and appearing as a model. Behind her massive statues lined the corridor. These were in fact the ancient tribal chieftans and heroes of the tribe that had possessed this province in early Aeronian history. Though largely ignored, workman often polished them to add to the appearance of the hall.

A short balding Western Aerionian man in an typical French-cut black business suit with burgundy collar shirt, and red tie stepped up to the receptionist desk. This was Doctor Patuero Myblero, an well known bio-tech scientist. He was CEO of Uvsta Biotechnology Firm, of which Amkarethz Holdings owned 60%. Though he himself had an office, a receptionist, and the very wealthy trappings of an Aerionian CEO he was extremely nervous. He felt as if he were one of the young interns in the office of an Vice-President. For he was meeting his boss, the renowned Morthian Amkarethz, CEO of Amkarethz Holdings.

Dr. Myblero had done many questionable acts in his lifetime. He had participated in experiments that pushed the legal limits, but what he had learned was going on within his very own corporation at a level of authorization that went over his head appalled him. He thought of what he had heard could be happening to even children and mothers.

He cleared his throat with a very grave look on his face, "Is Mr. Amkarethz ready to see me?" The receptionist smiled as if she were used to the sort of nervous attitude, speaking in a cold but very classy tone, "Yes Doctor. To the end of the hall."

Dr. Myblero had only met Morthian Amkarethz a handful of times throughout his career, usually only interacting with Executive or Senior Vice-Presidents of Amkarethz Holdings. The times he had met him he did not seem like a pleasant man, and got the distinct feeling of being in the presence of someone who felt like an Emperor rather than a CEO. This was his first time meeting him in his new office in the new World Headquarters of Amkarethz Holdings in the palace. It was his understanding that the CEO's office was the former Governor's Office and library.

Behind the receptionist on each side of the corridor stood two black armored, black helmeted officers of the Amkarethz Holding's Corporate Security Division. These men made the Doctor exceptionally nervous, and he endeavored to walk past them as quickly as possible. They did not move as he passed. He walked down the long marble corridor, feeling small as he walked down the middle between the large statues. He found himself thinking surprisingly of history as he walked down the corridors, of how the megacorporations were the powers in a society that had once long ago been tribal.

As he came to the end of the hall he stood before large bronze double doors between what appeared to be two large black onyx Sphinx-like statues but were white wolves with human heads rather than lions. Standing beside the doors once again appearing somewhat more sinister than the statues were two more officers of the Amakreth Holding's Corporate Security Division in black padded armor and black visored helmets. The keypad beside the door also had a retinal scanner, and handscanner. The CEO of Amkarethz Holdings had more security than some royalty.

Dr. Myblero breathed heavily, hoping they knew he had been coming down the corridor with approval. The doors suddenly opened of their own accord as if in response, somewhat creaking.

Dr. Myblero stepped into the broad expansive circular chamber that had been the Governor's office. Concentric circles of black, and white marble led in a half arc all the way to the gold plated desk centered in front of an 30 foot high arc window looking over the city. Black marble Corinthian styled pillars encircled the curving walls on each side. The domed ceiling had one single skylight in the center that cast a beam of light down into the room. The chandelier sconces along the walls were dimmed somewhat, casting an eerily shadowy glow as the equally gigantic red velvet curtains covered the windows.

Morthian Amkarethz sat in the high-back throne behind the desk. Despite looking uncomfortable, Morthian sat concentrated on the screen in front of him. His stark white hair was somewhat messy upon his head as if he cared not how it looked.

To Dr. Myblero he appeared either as an necromancer from the fantasy novels of some cultures, or as a Mafia godfather from some other cultures. He was not sure what fit him the most, but he knew he shivered somewhat as the door closed behind him leaving him seemingly alone in the room with the man.

Morthian's cold pale skin was visible in the dim light of the room as the light from the screen showed data scrolling across his face as he was reading something. He sipped on a crystal goblet of wine, or what Dr. Myblero thought would be just as fitting if it were blood.

Suddenly Morthian looked up from his desk with stark eyes making the Doctor almost jump, "Ahh, Dr. Myblero. Good to see you here, take a seat." Despite the seeming politeness of the comment it was said in such a cold sinister way that it was not kind the Doctor could see, and he reluctantly stepped forward to take a seat in one of the cushioned Versailles styled chairs of which there were two in front of the desk.

Morthian suddenly raised his hand, standing suddenly from his desk to show his full height of six feet two inches tall, and placed his hand on the desk. He wore an trimmed black suit with simple black tie and a white collared shirt. One may not notice the small skull tie tack he bore on his tie. "So I think I know why you are here.." He said coldly.

The doctor cleared his throat nervously, sweating from his forehead as he patted it, "I wished to speak to you about some..unusual experiments I understand are taking place in our secret biotech laboratories."

Morthian stared at him as he placed both hands on his desk, "And you waste my time with this, why? You did not speak to the CEO of Uvsta nor a Senior Vice-President in my corporation? These are why I hire these men." Though he did not technically hire the overall CEO of Uvsta, he basically appointed him. Before the doctor could speak, he raised his hand in interruption, "I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here, and assume that you came to me because you think something unethical is going on."

As a silence lingered, Morthian said rather loudly, "Well?"

Dr. Myblero stared at the wall behind Morthian rather than directly at him, "I believe that there are extremely illegal activities going on in our laboratories, some of these activities I understand are necessary, but I understand that the safety of women and children is being jeopardized. I believe that if this were to come out..."

Morthian raised a finger, "First of all, Dr. Myblero, what makes you think that I do not already know of these things. I have eyes and ears everywhere in all of my corporations as I am sure you heard." He paused to press a button on his desk, " Second of all, what makes you think that this is going to come out? Have you heard your scientists talking? Anyone?"

Dr. Myblero had not heard of his scientists from these laboratories talking, but two had disappeared under mysterious circumstances in the past year. One in what supposedly had been a double homicide with his wife killing him then killing herself. He spoke, "One of them expressed concern to me..."

Morthian looked curiously, "Ahh, really?" He gazed at one of the side doors as it slid open, two of the Corporate Security officers entered with black padded armor and a black helmet. The doctor began to look slightly paranoid, glancing over each shoulder as the officers approached.

Morthian stepped to the side, and leaned on his desk with his arms crossed. "Well doctor...I believe that you are under too much stress to handle the duties of the office of CEO of Uvsta Biotechnology. Though I am sure you will find your severance package fully acceptable."

Suddenly the Corporate Security officers stepped forward rapidly, grabbed the doctor to the floor. Dr. Myblero screamed loudly, "No, you can't do this. This is illegal! You are mad!." He hit against the black visored helmet of one of the officers. Morthian gazed at him, "I am the law. In this place." With that the officer withdrew a stun baton charged, and hit it against the doctor. It barely missed his head, and hit him in his shoulder with a loud crack that was his collar bone cracking. The second hit did not miss, and Myblero's eyes rolled back in his head as blood poured down to the floor from a cracked skull.

Morthian wiped his shoe with a handkerchief as the blood spilled onto the marble floor, catching the edge of his shoe, "Get this cleaned off my floor." He smiled a somewhat evil grin at the doctor despite his unconscious state, "I am sure that your family will enjoy the benefits of your retirement." With that the Corporate Security officers dragged the body across the marble floor through the recessed side door.
