The Glorious Tradition Factbook

The Glorious Tradition
22-04-2008, 03:00
OOC: This is a factbook for my new terrorist org. I hope to do more with them soon, but I just wanted to run the idea past some people.

IC: Terrorism; Michaels had never understood it. They all seemed to have a motive; something strange that drove them one. Nothing ever seemed so extreme that it had to be dealt with violently. The MOGT, now that was one that really confused him. He pressed the enter key.

PASSCODE ACCEPTED

Convenient, Michaels thought, how much technology could teach him about this strange organization.

INFORMATION STREAMING

Conventional Name: The Glorious Tradition
Full Name: Militant Order of the Glorious Tradition
Abbreviation: MOGT

Cause:
MOGT exists for a single purpose; to bring back times past where technology was not a powerful force, industry was undeveloped, and, in their opinion, the world was a better place. They take this dream, held by many old men across the world, and add Extremist views to create a doctrine of strict conduct and a perpetual war against all that is advancement. They are a degrading virus at the core of modernism.
Targets:
MOGT targets structures more than people, and only those that would further the cause. The types of buildings they have been known to attack include factories, power plants, radio towers, television stations, phone companies, and, once and on a rare occasion, a Space Craft Launch Pad.
Style:
Though MOGT cannot deny that they take human lives, and they don’t really care, the main tactic of the group is to sabotage targets and make them unusable. They will plant bombs, destroy equipment, or tamper with machinery.

Membership:
Member Number: 4,500,000 plus in many cells across the world.
Member Demographics: Mainly Caucasian, with some other minor ethnicities mixed in.
Member Ages: About 75 percent of all members are between the ages of 17 and 30, but there is a relatively large portion of elderly members who support the group and have more leadership roles than active roles.

Leadership:
Commandant: Velmar Greer; Velmar was a far-right demagogue for many years before he discovered his calling; the MOGT. Considered insane by most liberals and even by some of his own political views, he rejected what he thought of as a dark society and became completely enveloped in MOGT service. Soon, at the death of MOGT founder Jesse Rufman, he became Commandant of the Order.
Lieutenant: Carolin King; Greer’s left hand woman, Carolin was the first woman to achieve a high ranking office in MOGT. She was said to have established almost fifty separate cells across the world by the end of her first year as Lieutenant, and was the genius behind the Delmar Power Grid Strike.
Major-Sergeant: Hegan Jerod; Devout and ruthless, Hegan was a perfect choice for the field commander of MOGT. He has led some of the most famous missions in Order history, and the bounty on his head has just topped the one on Greer himself!

Location and Resources:
Main Headquarters: MOGT headquarters are said to be held in the quiet, rural village of Hammas, on a neigh unoccupied island in the Pacific. Deep underground, Greer and some of his best men work tirelessly to direct the forces of MOGT and find new targets.
Spread: MOGT has cells in every inch of the world, as well as controlled territory adding up to about 100,000 acres of land in total, including over 200 miles of road, and capture military bases.
Military Resources: It would be improbable that MOGT would have survived if they had not received help from at least one unmentioned patron nation. Almost all the soldiers in the enormous army are armed, and little funds are spent on the arming. There are not many heavy weapons, but many assault rifles, shotguns, and other standard military grade weapons.

Communications:
There is a strong MOGT funding behind the controversial Turn-Off channel on both the radio and the television, where people discuss the evils of technology and urge people not to watch their programs or any programs.

Assorted Resources:
-Thirty seen, unmarked ships ranging from small speedboats to freighters
-Enormous supplies of food captured from assorted factories and attacked cities and villages
-Stockpiles of ruined technology

Activity: Highly Active
Threat Level: Immensely Dangerous
Approx. Dead Count: 100,000 and counting
INFORMATION END

Michaels sighed, leaning back in his chair as the screen went black. He looked around at the rest of the screens, which had gone suddenly black as well. His chair legs fell to the floor. He had heard a footstep.
