Using Photoshop I made an amorphous black blob and cut pieces off of it with the eraser. I used a couple different inner glows on the land masses, used a stroke and outer glow for the coast, and used some really blurred rendered clouds for the sea.

It's kinda basic, which is another reason I made this thread - so I can learn how to improve my technique. :p

'sides, my nation's always looked this way when I've done maps of it. Just not this detailed, because most of them were done in Flash.

In case it wasn't clear, at 53 views, I'd like to see other nations' maps in this thread, not just my own. >_>

I went on Paint, drew random lines for the edge, found a good place for a capital, plonked a random olive there, and put state borders and names in.

Started with the Gimp. Took a picture of Kwajelein? and semi-traced it. Added Coastlines, rivers. Popped in a new layer, and airbrushed in the mountains. The put the state lines and political layer on top of that. Then falttened it all for jpeg re-production.

I no longer remember what software I used to get the original landmass and mountain shapes (it was done a year or more ago). At first I maintained the map in Paint Shop Pro, but later migrated to Inkscape - oh how I love vector graphics. :)

I approve of Vephrall's choice of colleges.

Mine. I designed it to be a Caribbean style island group but further south then the actual Caribbean, in between South America and Africa.

This is mainland Caprecia which is the oldest continent among the other Caprecian continents. Our regional capital is based on the continent:
