Autodromo di Moiano

Slowly, the RF13 was lifted aboard the truck-trailer combination, and eventually vanished in it's cargohold. It was all performed with military precision, protected from the publics' eye. The whole scene was completely shielded off from the outside world, and the trucks stood on one of the most desolate places of the Autodromo, so that they were almost impossible to see.

The complete Autodromo had been locked off, in an attempt to keep the RF13 secret for only a few more days. Complete secrecy would be the key to victory, according to Alfredo Monteluci. Those were the same tactics as they employed with their automobiles: complete secrecy was the key to a succesful vehicle, that was completely unique. Maybe this made the Monteluci Duca such a succesful model in the domestic market: who knows.

But the RF13 was, sadly, not revolutionary. It was built following the latest regulations set forth by the motorsport association, and that left little room for dong something truly revolutionary. However, the engine from the RF12 had of course been improved to make the RF13 engine even better, and this project had been succesful. The RF13 could shave quite some time off the RF12's lap times, in some corners even a second or even two, which was truly magical for an F1 car that was almost the same as the previous model, leave for some modifications.

Inbetween the two trucks, which both carried RF13's, an Italian-looking young man was pacing up and down the asphalt impatiently, looking around at both truck/trailer combinations.
'Come on, gentlemen, I don't have all day! The earlier my baby is back in Venezia the earlier we can start winning races!' Giancarlo Monteluci shouted to the men that were busy loading the F1 cars into the trucks.

Giancarlo was the brother of Paolo, the chief test driver for Monteluci. His father was Alfredo, who was both team manager and brand manager. All in all, the Monteluci family was still a force to be reckoned with inside their brand, even though VLT now owned the brand.

Alfredo Monteluci, meanwhile, looked at the scene from a distance, leaning against his own Monteluci automobile. He was accompanied by both race drivers Monteluci SFS F1 would have in it's lineup, and they too looked as their future F1 cars vanished inside the trailers.

'So, I believe that we are ready for the new season now, isn't it?' Alfredo asked to the both drivers, as they both nodded in agreement.

'Well, I believe it is time for us to head out. Get in. Giancarlo is already coming this way.' Alfredo said, as he opened the driver door and got in. The two others hastily got in, as Giancarlo came their way walking at an incredible pace. As Giancarlo opened his passenger door, Alfredo had already fired the engine, and before Giancarlo could completely close the door, the car drove off, followed by the two trucks and several other vehicles that accompanied them. Outside the gate of the motodromo, two vehicles guided them across the road by locking it off, and allowing the small convoy to get across the road and onto the Monteluci factory grounds. There, the vehicles quickly vanished out of sight, as two guards closed the large gates, with the brand logos welded into them, and effectively hid the vehicles from public view.

-A demonstration drive round Ivory Coast Circuit with retired Pablicostan Touring Champion Drew Lexus-

"Lining up on the grid we've got 22 corners between us and the finish line, it takes some first class driving to get round safely, let alone quickly. For this lap I'll be driving the R-Track V500 XT, the same car that Henry Olivier won last seasons Touring class championship. It's not in the same league as the F1 cars that will be flying round this track in a few weeks, but it'll give us a great platform to get round the track. Right. Into first, hard off the line. Up to 70mph as we pass the pit lane exit and move over to the left for Sachin Corner a gentle right hander, full throttle and we're up to 140mph as we approach corner 2 Lara. Hard on the brakes here, lots of G as the road kinks to the left before this tight right hander. Right down to 40mph and hit the apex as we line up for the third corner, Ambrose, a fairly open right hander. We can take it at 70 and accelerate quickly on the way out before getting back on the brake for Border corner to the left. A perfect 90 degrees before we get onto the second straight on the track. Times well we can get back up above 140mph as the track pulls to the right for McGrath and Muttiah a sharp right hander followed by a sharp left hander to set up for the next corner. Drop down to third and hit 60 as we head left through Ponting an easy left hander and into the short run up for the next corner. A fairly closed left hand bend, Walsh, leads us to the first half of the Indian straight where we look to hit 130mph before another left right combination at 40mph into Section 2, before we can stamp on the gas again as we head up to Hayden and Hughes.
This car rockets along as we lean right through the open Hayden, on the brakes and slow to under 50 to take another left hander, Hughes which leads onto the back 'straight'.
The Vaughan Bends wait for us, a series of mid range twists that are deceptively difficult. The F1 boys will have to be really careful through here because messing up a left hander sends you onto the grass, no traps on this side of the course, but overcooking a right hander is much more dangerous, there really isn't much run off space before you'd hit the back of the grandstand. We let the car hover about 120 through these bends before we hit the most devastating corners on the entire track. Duckworth and Lewis have ended the most races of any Pablicostan circuit. The first corner, Duckworth appears much safer, the lack of a large wall ahead of you will do that to you, but it can ruin a drivers race with just one off here. Trying to take this corner quicker than this, about 40, and you'll be off, straight ahead onto that slippery grass. In an F1 car it'll take a good 40 or 50 seconds to get back on the track, and by the time you've made the inevitable pit stop, because you will ruin your front wing you're as good as guaranteed to find yourself at the back of the pack.
If you survive Duckworth your chances of taking on the right hander, Lewis, succesfully are greatly increased. However, just overcooking it a little bit will send you careering over the grass and into the back off the grandstand, and there's no question who'll win that battle. Making it safely round this one and you can get back on the gas through the final corner Sanath, and onto the home straight.

62 laps of this, it's a real test for those guys, and I for one can't wait!"

KEYSTONE RACING ELATED OVER SCHEDULING DECISION

Tundra Falls, Newmanistan- This famed facility has received yet another honor to add to its already storied legacy. This evening it was announced that the world’s new Forumla One racing series will debut right here, at the Tundra Falls Proving Grounds.

At one time, there was a worldwide Formula One racing series, but that eventually faded away due to both lacking interest, and likely moreso, a lack of funding. Recently though, a group of dedicated people from Pablicosta decided that the series would be resurrected, and that was great news to a number of nations, who quickly signed up to have the opportunity, including Newmanistan. The big boost came today though, with the announcement that the season would open at the Proving Grounds. It shows that the Pablicostans are aware of this facility’s remarkable tradition, and being a springboard for future successes. What better way then, for them to have this series open up at a facility with that kind of reputation to jumpstart the series and all of its participating drivers into enjoying a large amount of success.

The head of the Newmanistan Racing Commission, Jennifer Murphy was thrilled about the decision, “We couldn’t be any more happy,” she said, “It’s a great boost for the Empire, obviously, but it will also be a positive thing for everyone involved, from all of the great nations. We welcome everyone, and we know that they will enjoy racing at this track. It’s also a great boost for our open wheel program, as recently the stock cars have had a little more of the spotlight.” Representing the Empire in the series are Jonathan Tremblay and Allison Benjamin. Tremblay was a no-brainer of a selection but the addition of Benjamin did surprise some people, but not those who wish to capitalize on marketing her many assets.

Circuit Agroprom Oil
Twenty Miles Outside Rostok

Rain lashed down on the asphalt and streams ran across the pitlane, soaking everyone and everything. A few figures in poncho's could be seen standing at the pit wall, huddling under a small parasol roof and next to a computer console. Two garage doors were open, and the spaces inside filled with equipment, computers and people. A spare car sat in one of the garages, and mechanics were hurriedly working on it. First, Gilchrist flashes past in a wirlwind of mist and spray, followed by his teamate Groznij. The two cars had been at this track almost non-stop for the past week, testing new components, set ups and strategies. It was felt throughout the team that the APZ-239 could not be known better than any other team - every problem, nuance and characteristic had been noted and well documented, and the track at Rostok lapped over 1,000 times. The cars had done several simulated race weekends, raced in the dry, rain, hot and cold.

A roar came from the garage as the spare car was started up by Patrik Nevel. Today he would be testing the latest version of the Sazen OX rain tyres, as well as further testing the electronic onboard software. The car was, team leader Mikhaik Seratov liked to think, revolutionary. It had a zero keel suspension of a type never seen before, a unique aerodynamic set up and an onboard computer that automatically detected, corrected and adjusted various set up details like brake balance and engine mapping.

Three mechanics guided the car out the garage and off it went, roaring out the end of the pitlane and onto the track in a shower of water droplets. Twelve hours from now, these cars would be boxed up and put in the back of their huge transporters, before they were flown by a hired military transport out to Newmanistan. The drivers and other vital components would follow them out a day later, arriving a day before things were due to kick off. It was a minutely planned exercise of military precision, and would hopefully give the Agroprom team an advantage in the first race.

Red Magazine
Interview with Paul Gilchrist

Red Magazine: So, Paul, you return to Formula One after a few years absence. Excited?

Of course I'm excited! It's nice to be bad in real racing after a few years in Touring Cars - it just wasn't the same and not as competitive, so this season is sure to be interesting. It'll be great to see foreign countries again as well - I hope Agroprom can star in a great capacity in the championship.

What do you think of F1 Agroprom's chances this season?

It has to be said that so much is unknown going into the first race. There are many new racers, new cars and new teams. The team has worked unbelieveably hard over the closed season - we have been testing more or less every day for a long time. The designers in the factory, the mechanics in the garage and all the drivers and testers have been working day and night to make this team work as well as possible.

Ultimately, we are as prepared as we are going to be - it's just up to me, Derek and the team at the first race to do as well as possible.

What are your thoughts on the track at Newmanistan?

We don't really know much about it to be honest, which is adding to the challenge. Much of the work can't be done before the first practice session, which should be interesting. What we have heard is the course is demanding on the car in the corners more than in the straights and high speed corners - this should play into our favour, as we have tested the car thoroughly in the corners and the suspension layout when combined with the excellent tyres we have will bring us through in this aspect.

Any final messages before you set off?

I hope to see you all at the track in 4 races time!

Revél-Celestar have unveiled their car for the upcoming season.

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r56/kelchek/revelcelestar-f1car.jpg

The sports-car pedigree of Revél and the engineering and advanced materials of Celestar, more known for its aircraft and trains, will once again join forces to put a Kelssek F1 car on the circuits of the world. They will be hoping to do much better than before, when inconsistent driving and mechanical problems conspired to mire the team in bottom place. The young Adrian Girolamo has been handed the task of being the team's number-one driver.

So far, the sponsors include the state-owned energy and petroleum corporation Petro-Kelssek, and the Bank of Neorvins. A deal for the most prominent spot on the rear wing is still in the works with Kelssek Pacific Airlines rumoured to be negoiating a deal for it.

(OOC: I see there's a lot of white-blueish race cars this season, they will be hard to keep apart on the track :p )

The press room was completely packed. Chatter filled the room, and Alfredo Monteluci softly tapped on his microphone to test it's working. Then, he spoke.

'Ladies and gentlemen, I welcome you to Monteluci Squadra Forze Sportive's team presentation for the year 2008. Even while our last year wasn't succesful, if I may put it that way, I am sure our new developments are leading us the way to the top. This should be the year of our comeback to motor racing.'

'We certainly heard that before, last year!'
A voice from the room sounded. Alfredo grinned, before replying to the remark.

'And we will say it next year, if we don't succeed now.'
Several journalists grinned, but the joke wasn't funny, so it seemed.

'Today, ladies and gentlemen, we will present to you the new Monteluci RF13, not so much as a revolution as it is an evolution of the last model. We changed a lot of minor things, so that it is a great improvement over the last model. The RF13 has got a 2,4 liter V8, as prescribed in the rules of Formula one, and weighs around 615 kilograms, just above the minmum weight for F1 vehicles, namely 605 kilograms. The vehicle is not sponsored by any major Van Luxemburger companies, and mainly relies on the money made available by the VLT group to keep the team and vehicles operative. As in the year before, we will stay, even after several minor problems, with the same drivers, namely Daniel Baer and Paolo Monteluci. Our test driver will be last years' second driver, Yves Lachapelle. But, without further comments, I give you the Monteluci RF13, and it's drivers!'

From a cloud of smoke, the screams of a Formula one automobile could be heard coming towards the public, before the white-blue RF13 finally drove out of the cloud of smoke, piloted by Daniel Baer, with Paolo Monteluci and Yves Lachapelle being seated on the sides of the car. As the vehicle moved into the room, flashes of cameras made the scene look brighter than it actually was.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/VanLuxemburg/MonteluciF1-2.png

Suddenly, as the car halted and the drivers got off the vehicle, a group of crewmembers came from the same entrance, and lined up behind the vehicle and it's drivers. This made for some excellent publicity shots, which would later be used all over the world. As the introduction slowly came to an end, Alfredo Monteluci opened the ability to ask questions.

'RTVL Formula 1 Inside. How does the team estimate their chances for the first race of the season, in Newmanistan?'

'We currently have heard very little about the track, and I have certainly never raced on it. We will have to rely on the first training sessions to see what we'll need for the track. Currently, we are in tip top shape, so I don't really see any problems with that.' Daniel Baer answered, leaning against his own RF13.

'Autoblog.tv. What track are you most confident in, this season?'

'Well, I think it must be our own Moiano track. We have been training a lot on it, as it is our own home motodromo. I think that will be the palce where we will have a great advantage, as it has been a private test track before, and it is only open to the F1 since this season. We know all about it, others will only have had a chance to train since the start of the season.'

'Club Monteluci. How do you think about the car?'

This time, Paolo Monteluci stepped forwards to answer a question, and got seated on the side of Baers' RF13.

'This season we have had a lot of testing, in secrecy, so we are sure that everything will be OK. We had the chance to develop lots of things ourselves, so that will be in our advantage aswell.'

'Club Monteluci. Paolo, how do you like being the second driver, instead of the main test driver?'

'Well, of course, it is a great chance for me to prove my ability to race, and I'm sure everything will be just fine. It will be hard to replace Yves Lachapelle, though.' Paolo said, as he looked to Yves.

'F1 Race Report. How are the team relations? Are you competitive, or try to stay friendly?'

'Well, I suppose it takes a bit of both. We need to stay competitive to the other teams, and to our teammates, but also keep a friendly environment around us. Hostilities will also cause you to make mistakes during a race. You will always need to empty your mind just before a race, just to focus on a race.' Daniel Baer answered.

'I believe we will end the ability to ask questions here. Further interviews can of course be requested through the Monteluci PR office.'

The smell of burnt rubber on tarmac is not a smell the team manager of Windizi Mesh F1 Racing would be likely to forget.

Unfortunately, neither would the smell of burning human.

Moyles Pawt's hands fidgeted in his lap as he sat in commentary tower of the Misho Track, watching young Micah Twels blast it around the corners of the death-trap of a race track. He watched as the twenty-two year old Rennidanian racer hurtled through corner 17, Moyles, named after the great driver that crashed and lost all movement from the waist down in a twelve car pile up.

Beside the manager sat Mal Soe, a quiet man who came into his true colours when going over one hundred miles per hour. He quietly sipped tea from a chipped china cup, his eyes glazing slightly as he watched the green and gold of the Windizi Meshe F1-XP doing its thing on the track.

Sighing slightly, Pawt's wheelchair rolled backwards, allowing him to turn and go over to the elevator.

Him and Micah needed a chat on safety.

The car may be moving at two hundred, but so are you hands. So is your brain. So is your soul.

Purple Knight Racing has good go at Quals for the Newmanistand Grand Prix

Yesterday the qualifiers were held for the Newmanistan Grand Prix. The Purple Knight racing teams put up two awesome qualifying runs. Steve Nueville surprised most of the onlookers as for the first time all week he was able to keep the car on track. Apparently his crew cheif Jeb Nueville put together a good car for the qaulifiers. The other driver for the team Willy Warona also qualified in the top ten at tenth. This was not as suprising as the Nueville run. The race is this weekend in Newmanistan. Expect it to be a real Barn Burner of a race.

Solid runs for KDF1

NEWMANISTAN- The debut of King David F1 got of to a great start in Newmanistan. Both cars qualified in the top 10 and Marc Chure was fastest in Pre-Qualifying practice. Chure even looked to have the pole but coming out of the final corners Jon Cavanaugh slowed with mechanical problems and Chure had nowhere to go. JK Darnell also ran well, as he qualified with a solid time of 137.481 seconds (not mph). KDF1 was by far the best team out ther as many teams had one car at the top of the charts and one at the bottom. But for KDF1 both cars had top ten qualifying positions. Team Principle King David I had the following statement to make regarding the qualifying. "I highly believe that we cn win the race. and have a second car on the podium. Each car showed it was not only a fast car but that it was also a very consistent car over a longer distance. We have high expectations for the team and reaching them will not be that hard." The race is at 5:00pm HCST

Veliz Motors' Formula One entry

Jon Cavanaugh has had a rough debut in Formula One.

From his first lap on the Tundra Falls Proving Grounds circuit, the youngster has failed to impress thus far in his open wheel career. On the very first hot lap in Friday’s first round of practice, Cavanaugh lost control of his Veliz Motors machine coming out of tricky turn number three. VMF1’s junior driver slid backwards through a section of grass before backing into a tire barrier. Cavanaugh was uninjured, however, his car was not, with a significant amount of damage to the rear of the vehicle. Upon climbing out, the disgusted pilot threw his steering wheel at the mangled car before climbing into the ambulance.

The boys of Veliz Motors F1 didn’t waste a minute, hastily unloading the spare car and then began preparing the car for Sunday’s race. Unfortunately, the back-up was clearly not up to par compared to VMF1‘s world class competition. Cavanaugh was far off the pace in the few short laps of practice he managed to get in. It didn’t help that teammate Dale Hardison was having his own troubles. While team engineers and crewmen thrashed at his teammates car, Hardison placed twenty-sixth in a field of thirty during practice. Head engineer of the Hardison entry, Anthony Evanson, made a boatload of changes to the car during the session, and Hardison did lower his lap times considerably as time progressed.

After time trials came to a conclusion on Saturday, Kerecan drivers were still at the bottom of the speed charts. Dale Hardison had a respectable run, earning twenty-third on the grid but more importantly, posting a lap time that was less than a second and a half slower than pole time. Hardison was content with his run.

“It’s not a terrible start. For having nobody on the team with any open wheel experience at all, we had a decent time today. As far as the race goes, just finishing would be a moral victory. I think by the time we get home (the Grand Prix of Kereca) we should be a lot better.”

Jon Cavanaugh, on the other hand, continued his tough weekend. More than thirteen seconds slower than the session’s quickest contestant, Rennidan native Micah Twels, the youngster placed dead last on the grid. Cavanaugh declined to be interviewed for this report. However, we did talk to head engineer of the Cavanaugh team, Paul Howard.

“Jon will be alright. He’s just had some bad luck so far, with the crash and everything,” said Howard. “The team still has a ton of confidence in him. I mean, he’s probably the most talented race car driver in the country, so he should be quite a bit better in the race.”

"At least we aren't last," the engineer said as Damon Ferringi watched Girolamo's steady progress down on the timing screens with gritted teeth. Finally, people stopped being faster than him and the name stopped midway down the screen.

"Eleventh... oh well."

"He is just two-tenths of a second off the pace."

"Which, I'll remind you, is a bloody big difference, as is eleventh and first." Damon said, getting up, "If you need me I'll be sulking in the pit garage."

WELCOME TO TUNDRA FALLS

A statement from mayor Michelle Baldwin

“I would like to thank everyone for coming to Tundra Falls for this fabulous event. We are most honored that this Formula One series has decided to not only kick off the season, but to begin their history right here at our facility. Thirty of the greatest open wheel drivers have come to this famed facility, and I can guarantee you that if you are the first one to win here, in Tundra Falls, that you will have great success in the series. For the drivers and teams then, please take in a moment to soak in the atmosphere and history at this racetrack as there will be nothing like it anywhere else in the world. We have gone all out to make this the special occasion it should be.

For the fans visiting the area, both from within the Empire, and from overseas, we ask that you be respectful of this facility. This is not just viewed as a racetrack or a stadium, but it is indeed sacred grounds within Newmanistan. You are expected to be respectful, and to abide by the very reasonable set of rules posted at the racetrack. If you choose to become disorderly, you will be arrested and charged to the fullest extent of Newmanistan law. And if you don’t know Newmanistan law, we are very, very hard on criminals.

Prior to the race, we will hold a special parade allowing the team members to walk the distance of the track carrying their nations flag and to wave to the crowd while live music takes place from some of the Empire’s more famous bands. Each genre, except that rap stuff, will have one of their top performers play, so fans of all real music should enjoy. During the race, we will have players from our World Bowl team at various locations sign autographs, as well as some of our new soccer faces, which will represent the Empire in the 5th Di Bradini Cup. We would bring our main soccer team, but they have business to take care of in Starblaydia. At the conclusion of the race, there will be fireworks, so do stick around for that.

And finally, I hereby announce that Empress Jessica has decided to add $2,000,000 to the winners prize pool for the event. So enjoy the event, and fans, while you are here, please remember that there is always a lot to do in Newmanistan, so feel free to check out all those other great things going on!

Thank you for your time, and we would like to wish a safe race for all, and good luck to the 30 drivers, but in particular to Jonathan Tremblay and Allison Benjamin.

On behalf of Empress Jessica, Newmanistan, the Tundra Falls Tourism Bureau, and all the people involved with making the event a success at the Proving Grounds, we wish you nothing but the best. Again, thank you for attending.”

Red Magazine: Paul, congradulations! Fifth position, you must be pleased.

Paul Gilchrist: A great start to the season, yeah. We managed to really hook up the car, my Chief Technician did a great job. Driving the car was beautiful through the faster corners, the set up was almost perfect - I feel the team has an excellent springboard for the race tommorow.

Any predictions on the season ahead?

I fear it is too early in the season to say how things will turn out - one thing I can guarantee is that the team will make progress over the whole season. The team is 100% dedicated this season - this start proves we have made progress so far, and it will continue!

Derek, are you dissapointed with 15th place?

Derek Groznij: A little, yes, but I was only 0.3 of a second off the pace, so I know there is room for improvement but not all is lost. I was pushing it absolutely to the edge today - I think Paul just had a better set up. On top of this, it is my first ever professional event. I think that makes it still quite a good result!

Thankyou both for your time.

F1 Agroprom Garage

Light still flooded out the F1 Agroprom garage, though it was night - mechanics were still at work on various pieces of equipment, and technicians were still working hard at various computer consoles. On the pit wall, the team manager Yuri Orlov was still sitting going over strategies for the next day. At the back of the garage sat Derek Groznij, going over set up adjustments and his role for the next day with his race engineer.

In the team motorhome, similar scenes were still taking place. Tyre technicians were testing, adjusting and working on tyres. Paul Gilchrist was working with a variety of engineers, analysing the cars performance during qualifying. Everyone was working, even the secretary bringing fresh coffee from the northern Agroprom region.

The next day would be crucial - no-one knew quite what to expect, apart from a hell of a race and quite a result at the end.

Setting the Pace

Qualifying, Tundra Falls - Today Windizi Meshe showed the rest of the Formula One competitors that they mean business. Their youngest driver, Micah Twels, 22, blasted it around the course to qualify top of the pack. However, it can't go unsaid that it was decidibly close, with Scott Stoddard of Stella WRM coming only 0.002 of a second behind the native Rennidanian racer.

When asked for a comment, Twels had this to say: "On the tarmac, it was a close call. I had about eight guys either right next to me, or almost bumping my rear. But I felt as though the attitude was good. I haven't met a driver out there yet that I think is hostile against me or any of the other guys, so it's a pretty friendly drive so far. Here's hoping I can pull it off in the actual race today, eh?"

Windizi Meshe Racing's second driver, Mal Soe, 26, came a disappointing 20th. Everyone was expecting him as the more experienced driver to come out at least above Twels. When asked about this, Soe had no comment. Twels, however, had plenty to say.

"Soe did good. I wish people back home would realize it isn't the position you come in Qualifying that matters. It's the times. And he was less than a second behind me. Which is still damn good. I'm proud of him, and I know the Bossman is aswell."

'The Bossman' in question is ex-veteran racer Moyles Pawt, who was left paralysed from the waist down in a spectacular crash on the Rennadianian Misho Track. We managed to catch up with him before he left for his hotel for the night.

"I'm glad for both my racers. I do wish Twels wouldn't push himself or his car so hard, but you can't argue with the results. I reckon Soe will come out on top eventually though. He's a good man, and a good racer."

So, tonight the first race proper will take place. We have our money on Twels making a hard drive for a podium position, whilst Soe takes the first race easy, saving his true skill for the bendier tracks.

Windizi Meshe, All Over the Shop

Today, something very peculiar happened. Rennidan's native racing team, Windizi Meshe, not only secured the top position of the latest F1 seasons first race, but also managed to secure themselves a place at the bottom of the rankings.

Micah Twels, 22, blistered it around the Newmanistanian race course, securing a lead which nearly reached two minutes over Adrian Girolamo of Revél-Celestar. Mal Soe, however, whilst not retiring from the track, did manage to come in 25th, a full six minutes after his race mate.

When asked about his win, Twels claimed he felt "ecstatic" and claimed he was "off to the clubs to celebrate". For an unknown driver from a relatively poor racing company to headline the first race of the latest F1 season, I think he certainly deserves a night out. Mal Soe, however, was unreachable to ask about his lap time.

______________________________________

Moyles Pawt rolled along the conference centre Windizi Meshe had secured for their large team meetings. The race team employed one of the biggest staffed teams in F1. The idea was if everyone had only one job to cope with, they could work more efficiently than others. It worked... usually.

But his mind wasn't on work structure at the moment.

It was on the fantastic win he had just been watching performed by, none other than, his friend and colleague, Micah Twels.

Twels reminded Pawt a lot of his younger self, pre-twelve car pile up. The recklessness of his driving and sheer speed he would take corners at meant he was a fan favourite, but so was Moyles. And he paid the price. He didn't want to see the young driver throw his career away like he did so many years ago...

And then there was the Soe situation. The team manager was now under pressure from both fans and the heads of Windizi Meshe to either get Soe to buck his ideas up, or replace him with someone who can drive at Twels' standard.

It made the manager sad when he should be so happy. Soe was a good, hard-working driver, but he knew not to push himself over the limit, which, in this day and age, is what was needed. Twels was all the proof that was needed to show that.

This season would decide two things:

If Soe had a career with Windizi Meshe.

And if Twels would smart up and live to race another day.

2 Points in Newmanistan
Gilchrist Gets Two in the Bag

Paul Gilchrist of F1 Agroprom racing team did his country proud today, with two points in the teams first ever international racing event. After a dramatic race, he brought his car home in 7th place after a gruelling race distance. Teamate Derek Groznij fell off the pace after his only pit stop, and finished in a lowly 20th position. The focus of the afternoon was Micah Twels commanding victory however - almost two minutes ahead of the nearest competitor and three minutes ahead of Agroproms leading driver. Agroprom's firmest congradulations are extended to Micha and Windizi Meshe Racing!

http://www.f1-pics.com/bahrain08/sunday/bh08sun_kubica01.jpg
Derek Groznij in Newmanistan

Gilchrist's race started with a pretty bad start - jumped by Cheru and Darnell off the line, he was down to seventh before the race had even started a-proper. He stayed there for more or less the whole race, putting in some good lap times and holding position in the field. However, during the first pit stops he was overtaken by Estive Formoso in the Velog F1 car. For the rest of the race, the two raced each other tooth and nail. Gilchrist's tyres started to wear before the second stops, and his pace dropped off a little.

However, after the second stops, Gilchrist's high risk approach paid off and the closed in on Formoso in the final laps. The move came at Turn 3 on the last lap - late braking round the outside gave him the inside line into turn 4, where he took seventh place to a standing ovation from the Agroprom supporters. Groznij had a worse race, however - losing two places at the start, he struggled to find pace for the whole race. The one stop strategy didn't pay off either - a slow, heavy car and worn tyres plagued him for both stints, with blistered tyres greatly slowing him down in the second stint. Overtaken by both Tyler Evans and Ceyladiuyhun in the last ten laps, he was down to 20th place by the end of the race.

Red Magazine: Paul, congratulations! Pleased with 7th place?

Paul Gilchrist: I'll never be happy until I win! In all honesty, I am very impressed with the whole team's commitment this weekend, and 7th place is the perfect reward. It's something we can build on, definately. I am very proud of Agroprom!

Red Magazine: Derek, 20th place. Dissapointed?

Derek Groznij: A bad strategy, a bad set up - I just could no extract any pace from the car at all. We were going backwards eternally, even after the pit stop. It's something I can improve on before the next race, though - I've gained an experience and a lot of data for the next race.

Both the drivers, anything you can improve on for the next race?

Gilchrist: We can evolve the car, improve our strategy, and I'm sure my pace will improve. Its all ahead of us now.

Groznij: I've learned a lot, and the next race will be another learning experience. I definately will pay more attention to the strategy for the next race - we made the wrong choice here.

And another driver thats impressed you this weekend?

Gilchrist: Estive Formoso, certainly - he was a challenging opponent for the whole race, and damn tough to overtake.

Groznij: Paolo Monteluci! He overtook me before I even noticed he was there. I was trying to keep up, and his driving style, his talent - I was very impressed!

Predictions for the next weekend?

Gilchrist: Another points finish, definately. We have the new development parts arriving for the home race in Agroprom - that should provide a pace boost.

Groznij: A top ten finish for me. Maybe outqualifying my teamate! I'm looking forward to the new parts too - I've been working a lot on the new development work, so it should definately put us up the field.

Thank both of you for your time.

Bostopia launches this season's challenger

Despite the car already being seen, the first race already being over, the first points won and the first podium scored, Bostopia F1 has launched this season's challenger. This season's challenger is powered by the MOD57, the latest engine designed by the Ministry of Defense's team.

Of course, the team is fully financed by the Ministry of Defense, who use the same technology used in the BAF's development of fighter jets as they do (primarily) in the aerodynamics of the car, and the protection of the fuel cell.

The car, being painted yellow, with green and blue horizontal stripes are for purely symbolic purposes, though the Bostopia F1 team would not release any furthur details.

SPIRITS LIVE AT TUNDRA FALLS

Here at this famed facility, the Formula One Racing League kicked off its inaugural season. And the results were, well, a little interesting. Interesting for all those who believe that the Proving Grounds plays favorites. Case in point, your race winner. Micah Twels, representing Rennidan’s Windizi Meshe Racing. Twels was clearly the class of the field, with the fastest car in qualifying and then continuing his dominance, as he obviously showed a liking to the track. But those spirits at this historic facility may have also wanted to play a liking to Twels. After all, wasn’t Rennidan one of Newmanistan’s biggest allies in the setting up of the World Bowl, by hosting their own pre-season tournament, in which Newmanistan won? A little bit of a thank you perhaps, for Windizi Meshe Racing. Then you have the 3rd place finisher, Adam Teraining of Bostopia F1. Who could possibly forget that amazing ovation that Newmanistan’s soccer team received from the Bostopian fans at the conclusion of the second leg of the playoff to get into the World Cup? Perhaps not, the powers that be at the Proving Grounds, making sure that a Bostopian driver would also have a top finish. Then there’s Kelssek’s Adrian Girolamo, who finished 2nd in the race. Perhaps the racing gods at the Proving Grounds felt for Kelssek, with Newmanistan having spoiled their World Cup qualifying effort by taking all 6 possible points against them, and they wanted to be somewhat sympathetic and assure that Kelssek went home this time, with a positive experience. Then in 5th and 6th came the Newmanistanians, with Allison Benjamin getting bragging rights over Jonathan Tremblay.

Now, we didn’t intend to lessen the skill and talent put in by the top drivers, or their teams by the above statements. You just have to understand, the Proving Grounds has its own unique place in Newmanistan lore for “coincidental” results.

Allison Benjamin and Jonathan Tremblay both had a great day, and Newmanistan was the only nation to place both of its drivers in the top 10. While Rennidan and Kelssek finished 1-2 at the top, they also finished 1-2 at the bottom amongst the cars that were able to make it to the end. The following were the post race comments of each driver:

Benjamin: Yeah I have to like congratulate my team for giving me a great car, all those wonderful guys in the shop who are always so nice to me in giving me all the speed and power that they got. And uh, yeah, to Micah for his race win. Congrats on that dude. It was really such a rush to race in front of the home crowd like this and now I cant wait to travel and get to know the rest of the world better.

Tremblay: The car ran really well, I think that Allison and I were able to utilize our knowledge of the track to our advantage, but the other guys are just such great racers, that once they get in the car, and it can go fast, it doesn’t really matter how many laps they have raced at the track before. I was really pretty honored to be racing against some of these incredible drivers, and I look forward to doing so in the upcoming events.

NEWMANISTAN- King David's F1 venture Got of to a so-so start as the cars took to the track in Newmanistan. Both Drivers Marc Cheru and J.K.Darnell started in the top ten. Both Drivers held serve up until pit stops. During pit stops JK Darnell had issues Darnell made contact with the car of Phil Basing despite his best efforts Darnell couldn't hold on and the wing fell of the car sending Darnell into a frigthening spin. Darnell's car plowed into the barriers and caught on fire. Fourtianitly the car was the only thing destroyed, and Darnell escped unhurt. As for Chure he settled in to third spot for most of the race. Chure and Bostopia F1 driver Adam Teraining had a spirited battle before two laps to go when contact was made coming out of the final turn, forcing Chure into fourth. Next weak the teams will run in Kelssek. This track is most famous for its cold weather and Snow warnings which may come into effect during the race.

GIROLAMO TAKES SECOND PLACE IN NEWMANISTAN

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r56/kelchek/girolamof1podium.jpg

A better start to the season for Revél-Celestar could not have been asked for as Adrian Girolamo raced to take the second step of the podium at the Newmanistan Grand Prix.

Signed by the team looking for better and more consistent driving after the inconsistency of Pierre-Marc Giordano, the difference was clear and exciting as Adrian put in a scorching drive to recover from a qualifying run which placed him 11th on the grid.

But team strategy also panned gold, or at least, silver; starting with more fuel allowed a one-stop strategy and Girolamo was able to make it work, surging to to the front as other drivers made their stops and making good use of Turn 1 - he passed three other drivers with the same move off the start-finish straight, a move he used to best effect against Bostopia F1's Adam Teraining as he outbraked him, sent him wide onto the marbles, and grabbed second place with 11 laps to go.

However, he was well behind the race leader and eventual winner, Windizi Meshe's Micah Twels, who himself scored an unexpected and euphoric victory, and settled in for the second place.

Revél-Celestar general manager Damien Ferringi said later he was "excited about the podium finish."

"It was a great race and we hope we can do one better when we race in front of our home fans next week." he told reporters.

Revél-Celestar's second driver Leon Williams finished in 24th place, nursing the car home after the car developed an unspecified problem on the final lap, but not before he was forced to pit twice to change his front wing following contact with Dale Hardison, who retired shortly after the collision on lap 34, and Willy Warona, who finished 21st.

"Just wasn't my day," Williams said. "It can be like that, you just get unlucky."

The focus comes to Kelssek and Outineau next as the Grand Prix of Kelssek takes place on Labour Day.

KEYSTONE RACING OFF TO KELSSEK

Early this morning, Allison Benjamin and Jonathan Tremblay boarded flights to head to Kelssek, and their equipment is expected to be there upon their arrival. They start a week behind everyone else as far having to travel, but coming off a terrific team performance at home, Keystone Racing believes they will have a strong showing in Kelssek.

Temperatures are expected to be frigid, but that is nothing new to Benjamin, who grew up in the Western Hills of the Empire. “All winter it would be below zero up in the mountains where I was from. It snowed constantly. If you didn’t enjoy skiing, then you had to dread living here. For myself, I’ve always loved to ski, the feeling of speed when it comes to anything is something I can never get enough of. So Kelssek, bring it on. 15 degrees. That’s a nice summer day!” She was kidding of course, but her comfort in the cold temperatures certainly couldn’t hurt. Tremblay, however, is another story, growing up in Pocono City, where the winters are mild. “Yeah, I’ve never been one for winter. But we’ll get through it, everyone has to contend with the elements.” So the drivers have to deal with it, but so too, do the cars. In cold temperatures, engine durability really isn’t much of an issue, but you still need to make sure you have all the little things working right, as a mechanical failure will ruin the day of your race team. We have been assured that the Keystone Racing technicians have double and triple checked everything to assure that things are in good order, and they believe they have a good set up for the race.

Petrya Test Track
Foothills in Agroprom

Patrik Nevel threw the car down the slope one more time, the cars revs screaming and suspension twisting under the load. The Petrya test track was very similar to the A1 Ring in Austria - undulating, technical and demanding. F1 Agroprom had used it as a test track almost constantly over the winter period for its excellent qualities and facilities. Nevel himself loved the track.

It was there he had driven his first test with the F1 Agroprom team, maybe his proudest moment. He had won countless Formula Agroprom races there, and had first learned to drive just down the road in Petrya itself. It was a fantastic location, and a fantastic track. And now he was in his element, putting the APZ-239 through its paces. Today he was testing the new cold-weather Sazen race tyres in preparation for the Kelssek Grand Prix, as well as various suspension components.

The track was infamously cold and twisty, which was why this test was of crucial importance. A full cold weather simulation was being carried out, and the set up was being worked on to a minute degree. The new parts were being flown out in two days time, and should arrive in time for first practice, hopefully giving F1 Agroprom an edge over other teams.

Rostok International Airport
Hangar 19B

The Agroprom Aviátsii aircraft sat in the huge hangar, surrounded by huge metal crates, vehicles and equipment. Currently being loaded into the cargo hold was the two huge transporter trucks with four APZ-239 Formula One car's loaded in the back. It was a careful process - millions of dollars of equipment being slowly loaded into the back of a multi million dollar aircraft. Much was at stake.

At the back of the hangar, three figures stood around a laptop screen. These were drivers Paul Gilchrist and Derek Groznij, and Team Manager Yuri Orlov. There were a mixture of emotions in play - mostly nervousness and pride.

"Well, that's us ready for the next race. I hope its not bloody cold...."
"Nothing is worse than Petrya in winter. Remember Patrik's spin on the ice?"
"Neither of you even think of doing that this time. We can get more points, we know we can."
"Two points in our first race isn't bad. Can't wait until we get the new tyres - the ones we have just now are unbearable in the cold."
"They are due to arrive three hours before first practice, so there we go."
"I hope your right...."

Monteluci: A looming motorsport drama?
RTVL Opinion

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/VanLuxemburg/77838.jpg

‘This year, we will start winning races!’ Alfredo Monteluci announced to the press during the team presentation, and this race, in Newmanistan, they finally showed some proof of that. By becoming last and last, respectively. Well, it’s not that bad, but really, isn’t it true that Monteluci is becoming the joke of F1 nowadays? In the last few years, they only managed to gain 4 points, which is not much in this sport. Back in the days that the team was still VLT, they weren’t very successful either. Is the team cursed? Are we just outnumbered by the other teams? What is it?

Maybe it is the quality of the vehicle. No, Monteluci says. It cannot be the car, we improved and improved it. We have been testing it since the end of last years’ season, and now the car is one of the best F1 automobiles one can get. The V8 was completely reworked, and now develops a stunning 800 horsepower. Which brings me to the point of how ridiculous these engines actually are, but really, that is not what I’m on about right now.

So the cause must be the drivers using that car. But no, they are capable, even though their skills are not extremely sophisticated and developed, they can sure compete in the upper regions of Formula one. Paolo Monteluci could even be called an underrated driver. Baer is just a very arrogant person to outsiders, if you ask me. In my opinion, they should replace Baer with Lachapelle and make a team that consists of up-and-coming drivers, complemented by a car that is technically in a very good condition. But what is keeping them from the first 10 positions on the grid?

Maybe they lack the guts. So far, the team and it’s drivers have exhibited safe driving, while they surely could do a lot better. I mean, in Newmanistan, Daniel Baer was trying to keep his 12th position, and drove carefully to not crash his car, so it seemed. The result was that he was overtook en masse, even by his teammate Paolo. The problems only increased when he had a touché with Darnell from United Hetzel Racing. The replacement of his front wing caused a lot of places to be lost.

On the other hand, Paolo did quite well, even if he didn’t gain any points at all. He was able to overtake lots of cars during an exhibition of his skills in the last few laps of the race. Paolo, if you’re reading this, congratulations! Keep pulling this trick off in other races and victory is not far away! You are really the pillar Monteluci is currently leaning on.

This column was written by sport columnist Didier Rivard, former VLMA touring car driver. He now writes freelance for various media instances in Van Luxemburg. His column appears after every F1 race on the RTVL Sport website.

‘Dannazione, Merda! Il primo di Maggio? Oh, goddamn. You are not being serious, are you? A race on the first of may is a disaster for us! We’ll get the whole damn nation knocking on our door!’ Alfredo was shouting through the board room, with the F1 agenda in his hands.

‘Calm down, Father. It’ll all be OK. We’ll contact all media stations in Van Luxemburg to broadcast the race a day later, and everything will be well. It is just a coincidence, it was not done on purpose. Motorsport Memorial Day is not an event that takes place all over the world.’ Paolo Monteluci said, being seated on the other side of the table. He was supported by several crewmembers, since Daniel Baer was with his family, currently.

‘It’ll greatly affect our popularity here, you know that? It can directly affect automobile sales! Our deal with the VLMA can be cancelled! There goes one interesting new racing series! Just because of one single race. O, Terribile.’ Alfredo said, sitting down and hiding his face in his handpalms.

‘It’ll all be OK, you know that. We must race. If we do not race now, we do not honour those fallen in motorsport. If we win in Kelssek, it will be one of the best possible tributes we can pay to our colleagues. It is a guess, and doing business depends all on taking risks, isn’t it?’
Paolo once again replied, in a positive manner.

Alfredo sighed, massaging his temples with his fingers.
‘Very well, then. Ready the aircraft and load them with our equipment. We are going to Kelssek, regardless of Motorsport Memorial Day.’

Monteluci Squadra Forze Sportive F1, Official Press Release

VENEZIA – Monteluci SFS F1 will be on the starting grid in Kelssek, regardless of the date of the race. However, Monteluci SFS has agreed with all media in Van Luxemburg that the race will be broadcasted on May 2, 2008, so that Motorsport Memorial Day, May first, will not be affected by an international F1 event.

This is the result of an intensive debate within the team. While the team honours all of those fallen in this branch of sport, we think that this can be done by driving a good race in Kelssek. Therefore, Monteluci SFS F1 will employ Paolo Monteluci and Daniel Baer once again to take advantage of their familiarisation with the Monteluci RF13 F1 car.

Motorsport Memorial Day is not a national holiday in Van Luxemburg, but this year, it coincides with Ascension Day, making it a nationwide day off. Motorsport Memorial Day has been in effect since May 1, 1995, and is an expression of a nations’ affection with motorsport, as well as a tribute to those that have fallen while practising their sport.

It is not usual that a Van Luxemburger team takes part in a race on May 1st. In Van Luxemburg itself, it is considered normal that no races will be driven on the day itself, and that a memorial race is driven on May 2nd, with race drivers from all over the nation competing in various different disciplines. The event is dedicated to charity, and any commercial aspect of the race is prohibited.

Monteluci SFS F1 will be present on the Motorsport Memorial Race, regardless of an international F1 race the day before, especially as the memorial race takes place on the Autodromo di Moiano this year.

Well, that's one way to celebrate a victory, Twels. Good on yer'self.

Win the race on the tarmac, go out afterwards to some clubs, get absolutely bloody hammered.

Not only do you get so slaughtered you can barely walk, but you decide it's also a good idea to drive back to the hotel.

Yeah, good on you Twels.

BREAKING NEWS

High Speed Persuit in Newmanistan

http://www.slashgear.com/gallery/data_files/2/8/1/CarChase.jpg
Aerial footage of chase.

Newmanistan - Minutes ago, we received word that a high speed pursuit was in action on the highways of Newmanistan. Reports claim that little under an hour ago, a drunk driver was pulled over en route to his home. When the police got out of their vehicle to go get his details, he suddenly accelerated off.

The suspect in question is reportedly 22 year old Rennidanian Formula One driver Micah Twels, who recently topped the podium of the Newmanistan leg of the latest F1 season.

Twels told the media that he planned on going out to a few clubs to celebrate his win, but no one expected this to happen.

Currently, the majority of the police force is on the young driver's tail, both marked and unmarked officers being called in to try and catch the drunken foreigner before he causes a fatality.

We'll have more on the story as events unfold.

It was a present I received before I got into this country, from my work mates.

It's a car built for luxury.

And I have to admit, I am quite comfortable as I bolt it down the road at over a hundred and twenty with Newmanistan's best and brightest on my tail.

And Lord Almighty, are they bright.

The adrenaline has pretty much flushed the alcohol through my system, meaning I'm currently darting down a road with a hangover the size of the goddamned planet.

Speaking of flushing.

I really need to pee.

Unfortunately, I can't make a pit stop here.

I'm too far into this crap to pull out now.

Only one thing I can do.

Where's my phone?

Moyles Pawt rolled over uncomfortably in his hotel bed. It didn't matter that it was a five star room; he was always uncomfortable in bed. Just a habit really. It didn't annoy him too much.

What did annoy him, however, was a phone call at two fourteen in the goddamned morning. Moyles' rough hand slammed against his bedside desk, fumbling in the dark to grab the blue light of his mobile phone. Ignoring the fact that he had apparently missed five calls already according to the phone's LED display, he answered it, and heard the anxious voice of racing prodigy Micah Twels.

"Whossat?" Moyles mumbled slowly as he leaned up on his pillows.

"Moyles? Moyles? It's me, Twels. I need your help."

Moyles couldn't help put notice the younger man's voice was slurring slightly.

"You in tha' gutter? Told ya' not t' party too hard."

"No, no, it's worse than that. I need you to get a helicopter or somethin' ready. We need to get outta' the country. Now."

Windizi Meshe's team manager was already swinging his body into his wheelchair as Twels spoke. This... wasn't going to be fun.

I floor it past road blocks and the likes on my way to the rendezvous point.

Back-alleys whiz past me in a blur. I've decided back-alleys are probably my best friends right now.

Although getting this big car down them is a pain.

I've lost both my wing mirrors and the metallic black paint job is pretty much gone.

I can still see the blue and red lights though.

My mum's gonna' kill me.

The sound of jet engines filled the air as Moyles fumbled with a glass of bourbon in the first class cabin of Windizi Meshe's private jet. The screen in front of him displayed the current news of Newmanistan. Some drunken maniac had led half the police across the nation on a wild car chase.

And unfortunately for Moyles, he was in charge of that drunken maniac.

The car on the screen pulled into a private runway about the same time red and blue lights appeared out of Moyles' window. This was going to be close, too close for his liking to be honest.

"Pilot? Get ready."

The car tips up slightly as I slam it hard sideways. I must be fifty feet from the plane's stairs, and the blues-and-twos are already parked up and yelling at me.

I think I'm sober enough to walk.

If I’m sober enough to run, however…

The door to the car fell off a few miles back, so I pretty much get running from the get go.

The sirens, shouts and swivelling engines all melt into one humongous uproar.

It's like they're all telling me off in that disapproving manner parents reserve for when you've kicked the family cat or something.

Not that I ever did that of course.

Dad was allergic to cats.

I get a foot on the first step to the plane as it starts to shift forwards, which throws me off balance.

I'm lucky, because, as I fall onto the steps, a bullet whizzes past me and sinks itself deep into the tarmac.

Screw this.

I half crawl, half run up the rest of the stairway, as it begins to fold itself into the jet.

And like that, I'm inside my ticket out of this country.

And like that, I'm standing up, and laughing. I've made it.

And like that, Moyles punches me in the groin.

"...with the national weather forecast, how's the weather looking for the F1, Claire?"

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r56/kelchek/kelssekgpweather.jpg

"Thanks, Paul, practice is tomorrow and qualifying Wednesday, and it's not looking too good for those two days, in fact right now Outineau is under a rainfall warning with up to 6 centimetres expected by tomorrow evening as a low pressure system makes its way through and intensifies - we'll see that on the national map later on - so rainy tomorrow and there's a 60% chance that the drivers will be qualifying through sleet, yes, sleet, on Wednesday, temperatures really struggling over the next two days. But on race day itself we're looking at great conditions, sunny with a high of 15 on Thursday once that system's passed through. Let's take a look at the rest of the country now..."

Grand Prix du Kelssek
F1 Agroprom Garage

It was cold and the sky was full of drizzle. It was that kind of drizzle that got you completely soaked, and made everything slick with water. The garage doors were open, if only to reduce condensation and get some fresh air. Four cars were in the garage, all being worked on by mechanics non stop. Some technicians were setting up the F1 Agroprom pitwall box, and waterproof sheets covered damn near everything.

In the paddock, the scene was the same. The huge F1 Agroprom motorhome was being erected piece by piece, its large black mass being erected piece by piece by the Agroprom technicians. Everything was going to plan thus far, apart from the weather. However, the team was still waiting for the new suspension pieces and specially made cold weather tyres - they were to be flown in overnight. Hence, the cars could not be finished without the new components - they would be constructed early in the morning.

At the back of the garage, next to two rather large heaters, stood Paul Gilchrist and Patrik Nevel, talking.

"So, how were the tyres?"

"I wrote a debrief, the engineers will be going over it later."

"And the suspension?"

"A bit hard, but thats the nature of the Petrya track. We'll see tommorow."

"Yes, yes we will...." quipped Gilchrist, staring out at the dismal scene outside.

The Team Technical Motorhome, Some Time Later

Yuri Orlov was stanging at the head of the table, a stack of papers in hand. He was leafing through them - stacks and stacks of data, analysis and figures.

"So, here's the plan for tommorow - if its pissing it with rain, you both work on set up for the first half, and then do two practice qualifying runs right at the end. If it's notpissing it with rain, which I doubt, we do set up work and then Paul does a long run, with Derek firing a practice quali run right at the end. Ok?"

"What strategy are we doing for the long run?" asked Gilchrist.

"I'm pretty sure we're looking at a grid placement at the top of the heap, so a fairly short stint, as if we were doing a two stopper. We still have the data from last weekends one stopper," replied Orlov, waving a sheet of paper in the air.

"I'd still advise against that, the car handled like a dog when it was heavy last week."

"Ok, well you can do a long run instead of quali runs?"

"Ok, deal, one stopper, see if we can get some decent data for that."

"Sure. Just hope to god the new tyres arrive...."

The BMRC (Bostopian Motor Racing Club), the governing body of Bostopian motor racing, has spoken against Van Luxemburg's showing of the Kelssek race one day late.

In an official statement, they said; “The showing of the Grand Prix of Kelssek in Van Luxemburg on the 2nd rather than the 1st of May, an important date for all motor racers is a shock to us. We are remembering those who took risks doing what they loved and were unfortunately took from us.

To not race on the day – though we understand Monteluci are – is to not show our appreciation to those who we have lost, who had given us so much through their talents not only in entertainment but in sheer awe at their abilities. Drivers who have appear to find the limit of their talents and then find they can go one furthur.

May we put it forward to the other teams and drivers that the first 7 laps of the race in Kelssek be held as a procession for memorial purposes.”

Automobili Monteluci S.p.A. Venezia, Arvaglio, Van Luxemburg

In reply to the statement given out by the BMRC, Monteluci once again reaffirms their statement. The SFS F1 team will be at the Kelssek race, and will take part in it. Monteluci SFS F1 will the return to Van Luxemburg afterwards, to participate in the memorial race on the Autodromo di Moiano.

However, as it is considered respectful in Van Luxemburg to not race on 1st of May, we have agreed with the Van Luxemburger media that they will broadcast the Kelssek race on the 2nd of May, after the Memorial Race on Moiano. This has nothing to do with any international affairs and is related to domestic, Van Luxemburger affairs only.

This decision only affects Van Luxemburg, and will not harm Formula 1 outside Van Luxemburg in any way. RTVL International, the global broadcasting branch of Radio and Television Van Luxemburg, will broadcast the Grand Prix of Kelssek live on the 1st of May. This is the only exception made for the media companies.

We would once again like to say that it is a tradition in Van Luxemburg to not race on the 1st of May. We politely ask that the BMRC (or any other instance) to not interfere with cultural differences and national traditions.

We are however delighted by the decision of the BMRC to request the first 7 laps of the Grand Prix to be Memorial laps. We ar every impressed by this, and we will participate to show Van Luxemburgs' affinity with motor racing and everything that is connected with it. The Monteluci RF13's of the SFS F1 team will be partly coloured black for this event, and the names of every single person who died in Formula one will be included on the bodywork. The RF13 drivers will wear a memorial suit, specifically designed for this event.

Once again, we state that Monteluci is trying to do everything to commemorate those that have fallen during Formula One, and will always try to increase sports safety.

Producing a last high roar, the Monteluci RF13 slowly headed into the pit lane, at low speed. Still, It took only a few seconds to reach the Monteluci pitbox, and immediately heading into the pit garage. There, the engine was immediately switched off, and as the driver had exited the vehicle, immediately jacked up to switch tyres and refuel.

'Excellent lap, Yves! If we can keep up that pace during qualifications and the race, we can sure score some points.' Paolo Monteluci said, sitting on a stack of tyres.

'If I may put it this way, mine was better. Plainly.' Baer said, while sipping from a bottle of energy drink.

'Shut up, Baer. You don't want this to go like last year, do you?' A voice spoke from the shadows of the storage space. The other two drivers nodded, as if they shared the opinion of the voice.

'Yes, sir, I know. But I was just giving some comments on my colleagues' lap, I can do that, isn't it?' Baer said, now standing up in the middle of the pit box.

'You can, ofcourse. But not in this manner. Face the facts, Daniel, Yves was faster. By a full second. You know, sometimes I'm getting a bit tired of your behaviour, Daniel.' The voice once again spoke, but this time the person that came with it appeared from the shadows. It was Alfredo.

'Please, all of you, this is not too good for the team relations. We all belong together. Don't try to let it all fall apart, all.' Paolo spoke, still sitting on the tyre stack, but somewhat agitated this time. All team members now looked at eachother, probably thinking what to reply.

'Good. Now that we are all on one line, good luck everyone, with the qualifications tomorrow. I'm off to my hotel.' Paolo said, jumping off the tyre stack and walking away. A few minutes later, the powerful V8 sound of his Monteluci could be heard, leaving the track grounds.

Official Press Statement
F1 Agroprom

To all affected,

F1 Agroprom has decided to release a press statement regarding the proposed 7 lap procession in honour of those who have died racing. As heart warming and symbolic as this is, F1 Agroprom has to object - there are many people in many countries who pay good money to watch 305 km of racing, who want to see drivers and machines pushed to the limit for the full race distance. We feel that although this is a noble gesture, the place for memorial such as this is not at an international Formula One race.

Agroprom has never been overly affected by fatalities in motor sport - only 4 casualties in around thirty years of racing. It seems to us, however, that casualty is very much part of Van Luxemburg and Bostopian culture. This is not any elses fault but your own - build safer tracks, having safer cars, etc. Thus, Agroprom and its drivers do not want to be affected by your nations disregard for safety.

Thus, we would like to make our voices heard against this out-of-place memorial gesture, and if it does go ahead, will continue to race at full speeds - not out of disrespect for your dead, but out of respect for the living.

The organisers of the Grand Prix of Kelssek are concerned by plans announced by certain teams to race the first seven laps as a procession. While we have no wish to show any disrespect, this is not an idea we find entirely acceptable.

We propose, instead, that a minute of silence be observed before the warm-up lap, to honour all who have perished as a result of accidents related to motor racing.

Official R-Track Press Release

We would like to address the issue which has arisen in the Formula One community as a result of an announcement concerning Motorsport Memorial Day in Van Luxemburg.

Although R-Track Racing understands and appreciates Van Luxemburg's position and notes that this is an unfortunate position, we can not endorse any sort of procession as has been suggested by some participating teams. We feel that this would serve not as a memorial, a mark of a respect for fallen drivers, but instead would make a mockery of the sport in which they perished. Therefore, R-Track Racing supports the notion that the race should be carried out as usual, with all drivers committing to the race in the spirit of Formula One.

However, we do not feel that this day should go unmentioned, and as a mark of respect both R-Track Racing cars will have a small amendment made to their design. The central image from the Van Luxemburg flag shall be emblazoned on the side of our cars, along with the text Motorsport Memorial Day.

We would also like to take a moment on Motorsport Memorial Day to recognize the deaths of the twelve Pablicostan racers who have perished whilst racing to date.

Practice 1, Circuit Jacques Strappe.

"Right Tyler, ready for your first?" Eric Davies, chief engineer for Tyler Evan's car was crouched over the monocoque in his black and red race uniform. Evan was silent as he gently revved the engine, nodded and gave Davies a thumbs up before his engineer stepped out of the way leaving the garage exit clear.
He was quick to get going, the relatively cold tyres didn't react well to his haste and as he turned left into the pit land the rear end stepped out. That was easily corrected though and he hit the gas, giving the engine some life as he shot up to 50mph.
"Out of the pits, flat to turn one", the words of his engineer revolved around his head as he buried the accelerator, flicking through the gears as the world started to shoot backwards. In just a few seconds he was at the breaking point for turn 1, an open left hander that he dealt with nicely, clipping the apex and keeping his speed just perfect for the next corner. This twisting section was, as he had previously discussed, only good for holding position and being consistent.
It wasn't long before the road opened up into the Neuville Straight though, and once again Tyler pushed his foot right to the floor, faster and faster. His digital readout kept climbing, this was the lead up to his big over taking tactic for the race.
Take this corner flat Tyler, you'll be able to have some of the slower cars right here
He saw the corner approaching, fast, normally he'd ease of the gas here and take the corner conservatively, but not today. The left hander was really close now and Evan guided the car from the right fringe into the apex, battling with serious G forces as the car twitched.
As he finished bringing the car round there was an unmistakable feeling, a devastating feeling as his rear left wheel lost traction completely. Before he could step in to do anything the nose was twisting to the right, now both tyres were spinning up and delivering nothing. The familiarly bumpy ride across the gravel was unpleasant, as the car spun 720 degrees before coming to rest a dozen or so yards from a tyre wall.
"Evan" came a voice through his audio system "What happened there Evan?" It was Davies from the pit. After a brief explanation filled with expletives Tyler was instructed to bring the car into the pit for some tweaking before attempting the corner again. That corner was the crux of the race strategy, and it needed to be handled perfectly.
This could be a long day, and a very long corner. He thought to himself as the covers were replaced over his tyres.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

We understand that there has been some talk about the Van Luxemburger Motorsport Memorial Day.

Let us make clear that we will by no means try to interrupt the race in any way. The 7 memorial laps will consequently not be implemented. We will however stay with out original plans: this means that we will race in the GP of Kelssek, and broadcast this on Van Luxemburger TV one day later. This has nothing to do with other teams, the GP can carry on as if it were a normal race. We want to make this clear once and for all.

This purely is a domestic event, and we always respect cultural differences and traditions. We are very thankful to R-Track Racing to take part in the commemoration by displaying logos on their vehicles.

We are very disappointed by the stance of F1 Agropom, who have resorted to a mud-throwing competition. Van Luxemburg is a very motorsport-orientated nation, and therefore has implemented Motorsport Memorial Day. This has nothing to do with, as F1 Agropom tries to make us believe, with the amount of sports-related deaths in Van Luxemburg. As always, our nation tries to achieve the highest safety levels possible, as can be seen in the organisation of the GP of Van Luxemburg. If Monteluci SFS F1 needs to prove that Van Luxemburger tracks are absolutely safe: The last fatality in an official race is now 11 years ago, and one needs to realize that the VLMA organizes hundreds of races every year.

It was never our intention to affect the GP of Kelssek in any way. If our previous messages have caused some panic, we are very sorry for this and we will try to make sure that any further Grand Prix' will not be interrupted by any domestic affairs.

The car was glued to the road through Tremblay, the long left hander, as Gilchrist balanced the car at 140mph. He floored it on the exit, using all the space to offer and some that wasn't. A quick full throttle flick to the right followed, the car dancing round the curve and just kissing the kerb. No sooner had the throttle been opened than Paul was on the brakes again, downshifting hard into the Pitts Hairpin.

The inside tyre almost locked, but Paul judged it perfectly and threw the car over the kerb on the inside of the kerb - there was ample room, and it was one of those corners where time could be made up purely by being adventurous. Once the car was settled on the far side of the corner, it was on the throttle again, balancing the car into the final right hander. Sticking the right front to the white line and balancing the speed at 100mph, the exit opened up and the full power of the V8 was let loose.

It had felt like a good lap, almost mistake-less and as smooth as you like. The car was set up perfectly and the tyres were at peak grip - it was a joy to drive. The grid slots started flashing by, and Paul looked down at the steering wheel waiting for his time. And there it was.

Goddamnit! A tenth off the pace and he didn't know where. Maybe he had lost a little traction at the La Ronge? Was the aero too high? They'd need to find that extra pace during the race - they needed more than two points this time.

Engineers Debrief
F1 Agroprom Motorhome

"I just don't know where to find the time!" he yelled.

"Have you tried turning down the...."

"I have tried everything! Everything! What the hell do we do?" Paul interupted the engineer.

"Strategy, my friend. Strategy. So Monteluci have an extra aerodynamic component or Mr Baer was on a stunning lap, so what. We know our car, and know where it's to be improved - remember the new car's on the way." Wise words from the team leader, Orlov.

"Ok, so....what strategy are we going with?"

"I was talking to Derek earlier. He said it felt great doing a two stopper."

"Yes, but everyone will be doing a two stopper. The quali set up is the best by far - I fancy trying a three stopper?"

"Could you do it? I'll discuss it with the engi....."

"No, a three stopper. I'm off to talk to Gregori - get the car set up."

Orlov's title may be "team leader", but everyone knew who really ran the team. Driver Paul Gilchrist was one of the most experienced drivers in the field in terms of international racing experience, and the board members knew this. A three stopper was a risky strategy, and would require some massive pace and overtaking maneuvers early in the race. But if it paid off, the car would have a free run to the podium.

All would become clear within the next 24 hours.

"He blocked me, that bastard!" Adrian Girolamo fumed, "the stewards have gotta be flippin' blind!"

Damon Ferringhi sighed as he tried to cool off his number-one driver. "Don't worry about it. Come on, here, have a drink, relax, eh? You can pull it off. You took second starting from tenth or eleventh, it was, last week, yeah?"

Adrian accepted the cola without further comment and went back into the pit garage, trying to see if there was something on the car he could blame. It had been unusually twitchy going through La Ronge and the acceleration wasn't as powerful as it should have been getting up to speed on the straightaways, but Leon had managed to do much better. In fact, it was almost entirely a reversal of their grid positions in Newmanistan.

He found his engineer and rattled off the complaints. Nothing could be done about the grid position now, but hopefully they could find a little extra edge somewhere...

Fifteenth? I can deal with fifteenth. Fifteenth is fine.

I can sort it out. I can do it. I can pull it off.

I've just got a lot on my mind.

A lot on my mind for sure.

Fifteenth?

Fifteenth is nothing.

I'm not nothing.

Mal Soe watched Micah Twels bounce around the pitstop with a slight unnerved smirk upon his face. The younger driver of the two had seemed to have gotten a bit doolally after his little stunt in Newmanistan. Rumours have it that Windizi Meshe couldn't fire him because of his recent 'amazing' run. Now though, it seemed as though things were going downhill for the young superstar.

Mal couldn't help but grin at the concept that even he had beaten the hothead in qualfying. Stifling a laugh, Mal turned and headed out of the pitstop, searching for the nearest park so he could sit down and unwind.

Unlike some people he knew, he didn't like non-stop partying to celebrate. Mal preferred to sit in a park, get comfty on a bench, and just shut his eyes. It was like a meditation for him.

And apparently, it was working.

Circuit Jacques Strappe, Kelssek

'WE DID IT!' Crewmembers shouted as they jumped into eachothers' arms, jumping and waving of joy. It was the first time that Monteluci managed to achieve a first place; It didn't matter it was just a qualifying position, they had achieved a first place.

As the RF13 of Baer came in, he was welcomed by a team outrageous of joy, where he was immediately lifted out of his car and carried inside. As the group went inside, three people were left standing on the asphalt of the pit lane, looking at the pit box from a distance.

'This is not good for his ego. And I'm not exactly positive.' Alfredo Monteluci said, his arms crossed over his chest, looking at the pit box through his sunglasses.

'We already had that discussion yesterday. Any sort of victory is good for Baers' ego, but not for his relations with us. He's too sure of himself. I bet that, if we ask him what he's going to do tomorrow, he'll probably say that he's going to win this race with his hands tied together. Or something like that.' Yves Lachapelle spoke, meanwhile trying to sit down on the tyre of Baers' RF13.

'Well, shouldn't we all be very content with the results from this qualification? I mean, we are in first place at the moment, even if it is Baer driving that car.' Paolo said.

As they talked to eachother, a man exited the pit box, and came walking towards the three men near the F1 car. It was Giancarlo Monteluci, one of the engineers that developed the RF13.

'Man, Daniel's ego is growing by the day. We shouldn't really feed his ego this much.' He spoke, while sitting down on the other front tyre of the RF13.

'We just had the same idea. He has to follow our orders, after all.' Alfredo said.

'Guys, we have to move on to our strategy meeting...' Paolo mumbled, gesturing they should go inside.

'Yes, that's right. 2-stop strategy it was?' Giancarlo said, while he rose from the car.

'For Baer, yes. We don't want to take any major risks with him having pole now. I, however, will only make one stop. We can take risks here, I'm on 21st anyway, there's nothing to lose. So, I start out heavy, empty the car halfway the race and re-fill it again, and make the required tyre change. There's little chance of rain, so we'll be fine.' Paolo said, while he walked inside.

'It's daring, and I like it. Okay, guys, we have to move it, It'll rain soon.' Giancarlo looked up at the sky, which was becoming dark.

IT’S NOT WHERE YOU START.....

Kelssek- Qualifying has come and gone for the upcoming event in Kelssek, and Keystone Racing won’t exactly be starting near the front of the field. In their first race outside of the homeland, both Jonathan Tremblay and Allison Benjamin were off the pace in the session, qualifying 20th and 22nd, respectively. Neither really came close to the times put forward by the likes of Daniel Baer or JK Darnell.

But that’s just qualifying, and looking in the eyes of both drivers you get the feeling that they both have a great race set up in store. “We had to make some adjustments,” stated Tremblay, “in practice, we were hot and cold, but on long runs I thought the car handled extremely well, so I do believe that we will be better then it appears from the qualifying results.” Furthermore, the veteran explained, “We generally focus more on race setup.” Benjamin had a similar tune in her comments as she also talked about the trials and tribulations of racing on a track that you have never seen before. The rest of the world had their first taste of that in Tundra Falls, but now it’s Newmanistan learning what it’s like. “I’ve never seen the track before firsthand like this, so in practice we just had to learn the track. We were conservative in our setup, but once I began to get comfortable with the course, we tried some new things, and I think that the car will race good.” Is she worried about starting at the back? “No one wants to start 22nd of 32 cars, but I think we can pick up the time we need. You want to be fast, but you also need to have a car that you can drive so you’re not fast and then wrecking the machine. I think we’ll be alright.”

The fans in Kelssek are pumped up for the event, and even though it’s cold outside, the anticipation of the second race of the season can easily make you forget about the frigid weather. It is a nice facility, and the reports that we have heard from most of the drivers that will participate, is that they look forward to racing here. The crewmen are all ready to go, and the Keystone Racing machines are ready to move to the front.

"They call fifteen degrees 'frigid'!" laughed Adrian Girolamo as he suited up. The fans cheered distractedly through the pre-race diversions, anticipation now building for the race to come.

The two drivers of Revel-Celestar had entirely different approaches to preperation. For Adrian, it was to crack jokes, clear his mind and be as relaxed as possible, while Leon would become intensely focused and refuse to allow anything to distract him as he concentrated every iota of his being on the race.

The race was approaching, time to go...

KDF1 Report:Kellsekk Qualifying

For Immeadiate Relese:

The Qualifying results are in for the GP Of Kellsekk. JK Darnell impressed a lot of people and put the car in second place. Darnell ran a lap of 74.107 seconds. Marc Chure eneded up on the other side of the spectrum as he had a wing failure similar to what happened to Darnell, in Newmanistan and could only manage t spot in the 28th position.

J.K. Darnell

"The car, just worked perfect. It couldn't twitch if it wanted to, I think the crew deserves a raise for the setup put in this baby. I am a bit wooried of the weather. They are predecting ice and snow for the race and so I hope there engough snow chains for everyone. I think we may put chains on just incase."

Marc Cheru

"Well on my first flying lap I got tied up behind Dave Prast as he was pulling in to pit and then WHAM! the tire just exploded. I can honestly say that's the first time I have ever aero flipped a car. I'm just glad I am okay."

First Time!
Ok so far as I know this is the first newspaper article on F1 mainly due to the success of Ferhat and the sheer resiliance of Ceyladiuyhun. The tsra of the show was Ferhat who climbed 15 places to 4th missing out on the podium by a margine of 8 seconds not great but an improvement as it has seemed that the new tweaks to his car have worked brilliantly, step 2 Ceyladiuyhun's car, although it does seem he was at fault more than the car... makes you think. As always the true shining star of the show is that number one, who was Phil Basing. I hope to do more articles on this in future.

ROLE REVERSAL AS WILLIAMS WINS THIRD PLACE

ADAM DENALI
Friday, May 2, 2008

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r56/kelchek/f1-01.jpg

OUTINEAU -- It was practically a reversal of positions from Newmanistan as Revél-Celestar claimed a second consecutive podium finish through Leon Williams while Adrian Girolamo qualified badly, struggled, hit someone, and finished 24th.

Williams fought his way up from tenth on the grid as much by strength of will as through driving skill or race strategy, powering his way past other drivers with stunning audacity which tempted disaster at times.

The team were definitely on the edge of their seats on the pit wall late in the race as he nearly put his car into the wall at La Ronge as he passed Bostopia F1's Adam Teraining by going wide at speed and cutting him off at the next bend.

"My jaw's aching cause I was clenching my teeth so hard," Williams joked at the post-race press conference.

Adrian Girolamo, meanwhile, seemed to suffer all the mishaps Williams took in Newmanistan. Trying to pass Jon Cavanaugh, he instead mangled his front wing and fell back to 28th place, from which a superior car could only do so much; he took the chequered flag in 24th place.

Phil Basing won first place for R-Track Racing, while Windizi Meshe's Micah Twells took second place and a solid position first in the drivers' standings with 18 points. Revél-Celestar will be happy in second place in the constructors' standings after their home grand prix, while Windizi Meshe holds a 7-point lead with 21 points.

OOC - it would help if you told us how many laps were run in the race. Makes RPing easier.

"Radio Sport Folenisa. 4:06 pm. We now head back to Outineau, Kelssek, where Brian Padmore is standing by with the latest from the Kelssek Grand Prix. It's lap forty-five. Brian."

"Thanks Jonathan. We're on lap 45, with both Liventia Racing cars still running. Former world champion Troy Wilkins is currently running down in tenth and outside the points; teammate Kristjan Durant pitted during the news break and is now running in a miserly nineteenth.

"The leader's now coming up to start lap 46. Durant down in 19th attempts a move on Estive Formoso. Can't get past. Yellow flags have come out somewhere.

"Willy Warona's gone off into the barriers at the end of the back straight from 14th. That's a shame, but Durant gains a spot. Wilkins is yet to pit for his second stop, he should be coming in soon."

--------

"And Phil Basing takes the chequered flag here in Kelssek! A clear win, as his nearest competitor's over a minute behind him. Troy Wilkins is currently running ninth and just outside the points behind Cheru of United Hetzel racing. Can he make this up? They're still just starting the final lap. Wilkins goes on the inside line heading into turn three. Can't get by. A controversy-filled race, with some suggestions that the first seven laps should've been run in a procession — what a stupid idea — is coming to an end. Wilkins tries again. Around the outside of Cheru... and he does it. Former world champ Wilkins into eighth and into the points."

--------

"And so, a brilliant race here today. Troy Wilkins picks up Liventia Racing's first point of the season with a hard-earned eighth place. Phil Basing the clear winner here. Back to you in Folenisa."

Yes thats right so now all the attention has been shifted on to F1 for now... while the two drivers have a big quality gao between them, Cey hadn't had his car tweaked but they will now make the appropriate changes to the cars as they prepare for the next round.

Now our nations hopes will be expectant on one man... Ferhat who had shown an amazing shot up through the ranks of the race and has shown his qaulity... but only time will tell if it will pay off.

Micah lit up a cigarette as he stood outside Windizi Meshe HQ in Rennidan's Business District. The season of rain was upon the nation, and as he was caught outside without an umbrella, he was getting soaked for the sake of his nicotine fix. Cars blared past with their high beams on, sending the puddles flying unfortunately close to Micah.

But he had more on his mind than a bit of rain.

He was number one in the world of Formula One at the moment. He had solidified Windizi Meshe's name as a big-time racing corporation.

Yet, word on the streets was disciplinary action could be heading his way.

His little stunt in Newmanistan, whilst earning the awe and respect of some fans, had turned him into somewhat of an anti-hero to the world wide racing community.

He was the Dark Knight of the Formula One World.

Grumbling at the sodden stick of white paper and half-burnt tobacco, he lifted his collar and walked off into the rain, towards the parking spot reserved for him.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

In regard to Micah Twels and the 'Newmanistan Incident'.

We here at Windizi Meshe Racing would like, firstly, to apologize to the government of Newmanistan for the actions taken by one of our racers during the Newmanistan leg of the current Formula One season. We realize the Micah Twels behaviour was clearly beyond unacceptable; however, we hope you understand that we cannot suspend him from racing this season.

We will, however, be docking pay from Twels, and he is now on a 'last chance' system, meaning if anything like this is to happen again, he will be fired from Windizi Meshe racing.

Again, we here at Windizi Meshe apologize for his wreckless behaviour.

Peace be at you,

Chequa Phells.

THE ROCKET REPORT

MURPHY DEMANDS NSF1 ACTION ON TWELS

Pocono City- Jennifer Murphy, the head of the Newmanistan Racing Commission has been a supporter of the upstart NSF1 series ever since it opened up. And while the Empire’s Keystone Racing Team hasn’t been the strongest in this series, they’ve done alright, and could be a contender for a championship with some improvements. Everything has gone well, until this incident with Micah Twels.

She didn’t want to make a big stink about the incident, as she was confident that the NSF1 would do the right thing and take disciplinary action against Twels. Days passed by, and soon those days have now turned into a couple weeks. Jenn kept picking up the paper, and looking for that announcement. Perhaps, they were just delaying making such an important decision, she thought. So far, nothing. All she got was this notification that Windizi Meshe Racing had slapped him on the wrist, err, we mean, fined Twels. Though, as a former racer and a head of racing association herself, she could understand the action as she knows they want to win a championship. At least, they apologized for it. However, Murphy wasn’t totally pleased, and wrote back to Chequa Phells, that the money in which Twels was fined should be sent to Newmanistan, and in particular, the Tundra Falls Police Department, instead of kept within Windizi Meshe’s corporate body.

But then, there’s this point of NSF1. Are they turning their head on the incident and trying to pretend it never happened. Windizi Meshe certainly can’t be expected to suspend their top driver for at least one race. This is where NSF1 is supposed to come in, and let them know that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated in the series. Unless, of course, they are going to tolerate it, and set a bad example for their series in the eyes of the world. She issued the following statement to the NSF1 commission.

To: President of NSF1
From: Jennifer Murphy, Newmanistan Racing Commission President
Re: Micah Twels

To whom it may concern, let it be known that the Newmanistan Racing Commission is extremely disappointed with NSF1's failure to initiate any kind of punishment towards Micah Twels concerning his actions after his win in Tundra Falls. We’ve actually sat here, waiting for you to come out and make some kind of announcement of punishment and are absolutely astonished that there has been no disciplinary action taken by your organization. This is, obviously, something that cannot be left simply in the hands of Windizi Meshe Racing, as they have a conflict of interest between doing the right thing, and doing what is necessary to win a championship. Suspending Twels for at least one race, within their organization, would cripple their efforts, and that is more important to them then doing what is right.

We’re talking about a man that put hundreds of Newmanistanian lives in jeopardy when he initiated a high speed chase in excess of 150 MPH on Interstate 225 outside of Tundra Falls. Not to mention, he was driving erratically, in an obvious drunken state. Fortunately, he did not crash into any cars of innocent civilians who were also travelling on the interstate. Did he have to kill someone to trigger a response from you? What if he did kill someone? Then the winner of your first race becomes a murderer from a high speed car chase. Not exactly getting the series off to the right start.

We mean it when we say we were trusting that a decision was forthcoming, but enough time has elapsed now for us to hold out our arms, and ask, “What’s going on here? (To phrase it nicely)” Allowing him to do what he did in our great city of Tundra Falls and the surrounding area, which yes, you are allowing by your failure to punish, is a major slap in the face to Tundra Falls, the Tundra Falls Police Department, and Newmanistan as a whole. In protest, if an appropriate action is not taken, we will respond to pressure within the Empire to pull Jonathan Tremblay and Allison Benjamin from the series.

Thank you, and please, do the right thing.

– Jenn Murphy

"Hello once again to all the viewerrrrrs of Globo Multimedia. Thirrrrrd rrrrrace of this Forrrrrmula One season, and once again in a trrrrrrack full of difficult currrrrrves, this time the Grrrrrand Prrrrrix of Liventia, in Liverrrrrpool England! Not a good rrrrrrace for the home drrrrrrriverrrrrs, as both crrrrrrashed durrrrrring the rrrrrace. And not a good rrrrrrace for the Cafundelense drrrrrriverrrrrs too, as a good chance of a big rrrrrresult ended in frrrrrrustrrrrration."

"At least Estive Forrrrrrmoso was able to get thrrrrrree points in this rrrrrrace, and now he has four. After starrrrrting in the modest position of fourrrrrteenth, the drrrrrriver was able to overrrrrtake many opponents using all his experrrrrrience and drrrrrriving ability, something that imprrrrressed many of his opponents. With this good perrrrrrrformance, Forrrrrrmoso was able to rrrrreach the sixth place, and was verrrrry close for taking the fifth, but the rrrrrrace ended beforrrrrre that."

"As with Anita, it was a sad day for the girrrrrrrl frrrrrrom Porrrrrto Lacrrrrrruz. OOC: Pabli, are you doing all races to 2 hours now? Because 305 km = 71 laps on my circuit... and if it's to 2 hours, how many laps were there?
Pablicosta

I know LE, I actually misread the number of laps for your GP. Unfortunately I only realised that after I'd run qualifying, so I couldn't re run the scoring(without revoking the qualifying results).
Sorry to anyone dealt a duff hand by running extra laps, I'll do my best to make sure nothing of the sort happens again.

RE:Micah Twels

Ms Murphy,

I would like to start this letter by apologizing for our apparent lack of action on the issue of Micah Twels' recent actions in Newmanistan. As an organisation we cannot, and indeed do not condone or defend the actions of Mr Twels, and though we have not made it publicly clear, I have spoken to Mr Twels representatives at Windizi Meshe in Rennidan about the incident.

It was decided at this time that although Twels' actions were obviously unacceptable, they were also greatly out of character and the team at Windizi Meshe have reassured me such an occurance will never be repeated. It was with that in mind that I made the decision to hold back any formal procedure against Twels, and to avoid docking the driver points at this time.

However, after receiving your complaint I am obliged to open an investigation into the event, which will culminate in a Disciplinary Committee hearing. The Committee will be made up of 5 volunteers, each associated to a different F1 team, and myself as Commissioner.

I imagine that both Windizi Meshe and yourselves will be eager to have a member on this committee, so I will advertise to the remaining members immediately to have them fill the remaining 3 committee spots.

The hearing will be held as soon as possible.

Yours in good faith,

Eddie Curran,
Formula 1 Commissioner.

Re: Twels

Mr. Curran:

Thank you for the prompt response to my letter. We are glad to hear that NSF1 has decided to do something in response to the Micah Twels incident, and I will most definitely become a standing member on the Committee.

It was never our intention to make a big issue out of this, however there have been protests going on in Newmanistan, from people who are not pleased with Micah Twels, nor the fact that he has not been punished. I must listen to their message, and that has provoked my bringing this issue forward to you.

I can't claim to know Micah Twels, or his history, so I don't know how out of character it was, but in taking your word for it, we still feel that this was a serious incident. He could very easily have blindsided a family traveling along the interstate and knocked them into a ditch causing their gas-guzzling SUV to roll over a bunch of times and killing all on board. Obviously, Twels can handle speed, but anything could have happened that night.

Thank you,
Jenn Murphy

The feeling of champagne down the back of his neck and the sound of thousands of cheering fans was one Paul would savour for years. His first international trophy and proof, perhaps, that F1 Agroprom deserved to be at the top. Alongside him, F1 bigman Micah Twels looked reasonably happy with his second place - champagne might not be the best idea though, judging by recent events.....Micah was the only driver to have overtaken Paul that day, right up the inside into turn one. Paul's tyres were worn to hell, and little fight could be put up.

The start was crucial. Paul was on it - a great start propelled him from 9th to 6th, and from there pace would have to finish the job. And it would. Two stops were made during the grand prix, and it was the first stint that did the damage - some staggering race pace including the race's second fastest lap leapfrogged him up to 3rd place. A retirement in front, and he was in second. The second stint was the killer, however. Twels was closing at quite a pace and he had to drive the hell out the car. A few laps before his pit stop, and the gap was down to just over three seconds.

Then, all the grip from the tyres went - they were worn beyond belief from the race pace. This made Micah's job much easier, as within two laps he was all over the gearbox of Paul's car. A good run out the final corner and second was taken from him. the final stint was horribly dull, but the taste of that glorious champagne made it so much better. A final wave to the crowd, and he was off to the drivers press conference.

Lap 26 - Derek Groznij's Car

Flash past the start/finish line to start another lap, and the car in front was definately closer than the lap before. The pit board told him it was Dale Hardison, who was horribly slow by the looks of it. Hard on the brakes for turn one, the car wanting to slide sideways past the apex. Hard on the throttle on the exit and down the straight. The intermediate told him he was within two seconds of Hardison - he should be caught by the end of the lap. Turn two is a fast, punishing left turn, before the long turns three, four and five.

Balance the throttle through three, turn into four...suddenly, turning becomes a lot harder and the steering wheel locks. The tyres smoke up and the car is sliding straight on into the gravel trap. Brace before the car meets the barrier and smack, the end of his race. The problem will be found to have originated in the hydraulic system and a lack of power steering - the end result was an F1 car at 120mph into the barrier.

Agroprom Aviatsuu Flight to Rostok

The drinks were flowing, thought not to the extent of Micah Twels, and the team was mostly happy. Third place meant 6 points - 6 points for team and driver, jumping F1 Agroprom up the grid going into the home race. the advantage would be theirs, and with numerous improvements to the car, things should be looking up. The car had the pace, and so did the drivers.

"So, Derek, what went wrong with you?"
"Bloody hydraulics. And I was about to jump Hardison."
"Ach, blame it on the test drivers! Should be better this race - I hope it rains."
"Lets see those foreigners take the Wasserfall in the rain, eh?"

Grand Prix of Agroprom
Preview Courtesy of Rostok TV

The circuit at Rostok is famous for a number of reasons. Number one is its unique blend of fast and slow corners, and the infamous wasserfall dropping corner that becomes viscious when its wet. The weather is ever changeable as well, due to the tracks odd location in the foothills of the Alyaz mountains. It should, therefore, be a challenging event for many of the drivers, even of an international standard. So, lets looks ahead at the race to come, and try and make some predictions on the race to come.

Facts and Figures

56 - The number of laps of the Rostok race circuit.
30 - Cars starting the Grand Prix of Agroprom
87,321 - Number of tickets sold so far for the race.
7-1 - Odds on Micah Twels winning the race.
96.722 - Seconds in the lap record, set by Paul Gilchrist in testing.
1992 - Year of construction completion.
205.1 - Km/h, the average speed of an F1 car round the track.
509 - Number of Marshals posted around the track.
18 - Number of Corners on the Rostok track.
76% - Chance of rain on race day.

The Grand Prix of Agroprom will also be supported by a variety of other races this year. These are Agroprom Formula Two, Agroprom Touring Car Championship and Agroprom Hatchback Racing Tour. A brilliant atmosphere is also expected at the race, especially in the central stadium section of the course - Agroproms number one live band "Pulse" will be playing on the Saturday night followed by a variety of events in the camping area. Agroprom want's to impress the world stage with it's ability to host a grand prix - hopefully things will go to plan on the big day!

So Who Will Win?

Micah Twels

He has to be the favourite going into this race. At the top of the drivers championship with a first and two second places, his record has been excellent. He hasn't made a single mistake all season, and many are tipping him to take the top step of the podium. The question is, could the car keep developmental pace? Many teams were planning to introduce new parts over the next few races, and this could affect his plans. Maybe not this race, but certainly soon.

Phil Basing

The race winner in Kelssek and another fast driver, Phils team definately has the momentum running into this next race. However, a series of other bad results may show a lack of continuity within the team - it is hard to predict what will happen soon. However, the chance is there - Kelssek is a similar track to Agroprom, with decisive fast and slow corners, and his driving style may well suit the Rostok circuit.

JK. Darnell

The winner in Liventia carries all the momentum into the Grand Prix of Agroprom, and Darnell will be hoping he can carry this pace and competitiveness into the next race. However, with no other competitive finishes this season, can he get some consistency into his drives and finish well two races in a row?

Paul Gilchrist

Never rule out the home favourite. Having well and truly trounced his teamate and gathering a 7th and a 3rd place, Paul will be hoping he can use his massive home advantage and momentum to gift him a good finish in the Agroprom race. Helped by some improvements made to the APZ-239 car, a victory in Agroprom could be the thing that helps Paul make it for the rest of the season.

Development Watch
With Graham Gellek

Today, I am going to look at the latst improvement on the APZ-239 car, a new variety of attachments to the front of the car.

http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/5830/improvementsxj0.png

This was introduced by F1 Agroprom to try to optimise the APZ-239's balance. The solution provides a better quality of airflow to the car's sidepod inlets and rear end, without generating a noticeable amount of downforce. The on-board camera housings (1) have been placed at a level where they redirect air towards the 'delta winglets' (2), thus improving the flow of air to the car's sidepods. This is especially important, as F1 Agroprom have followed the trend to taper the car's sidepods at the bottom, with smaller inlets and radiators of a smaller cross-sectional area.

F1 Agroprom Formula One team would like to invite every other competitor with open arms to the Rostok Formula One Circuit, and hopes you enjoy the very best of our countries hospitality. We look forward to a great few days racing, and would like to meet you all on track. RE:Micah Twels

Firstly, I would like to state that we here at Windizi Meshe understand your actions, Mr. Curran, and I myself am volunteering for Rennidan's spot on the Micah Twels enquiry.

Secondly, I would like to assure Miss Jennifer Murphy that all the wages docked from Micah Twels will be sent to the Tundra Falls Police Department, along with a few extra Golden Crowns as a way for us to apologize even further.

We just hope that you both allow for Twels to finish this season before enacting whatever punishment we finally come to agree on. I am sure you understand why we feel like this, as our country is little more than a year out of isolation, and we are still trying to spread our wings over as many avenues as possible.

We are sure you will come to the right decision, and that this doesn't affect the friendship between Newmanistan and Rennidan on a whole.

Again, I apologize for Twels actions.

Peace be at you,

Chequa Phells.

On The Horizon...

Many nations have been questioning why Windizi Meshe hasn't touched their car development wise. Since the first Grand Prix this season, they have kept the same car, with the same features and the same numbers behind them.

Whilst the current design seems to be working for them, surely their luck must be about to run out?

Well, it turns out, even Windizi Meshe feels like this.

They say the reason their Windizi Meshe F1-XP hasn't been touched is because it's at the end of its life span.

And with that...

May I introduce the Windizi Meshe F1L3!

http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/rennidan/crcar.jpg
From left to right: Jendwa Fres, Harri Bedlem, Chequa Phells, Mal Soe, Dremmy Fhes

Built slightly more compact than the XP, the L3 is using a completely overhauled chassis design from its predecessor, to bring about more down force and better aerodynamics. Under the bonnet, the transmission has been expanded and the engine has been upped.

The car is expected to be brought on for the Grand Prix of Agroprom this coming week.

Micah Twels sat in the Rennidanian jet as it sailed the skies towards Agroprom. To be honest, he wasn't feeling to well about this race. Whether it was the upcoming enquiry into his less-than-legal actions in Newmanistan, or the fact he had just seen Rostok TV bigging him up, he couldn't say.

He had always felt slightly ill before a race, but that's what they called nerves.

(And look at what nerves did for Finelli in American Football. Twels didn't fancy a heart attack at 22).

He reclined slightly in the seat, his eyes turning to look out the window at the cloudy sky below. In the reflection, he could see Mal Soe sat across the first class area from him. The shorter, stubbier, all-around-slower racer had his legs crossed underneath him and had his eyes shut.

Meditation.

Inner-peace.

Hocus pocus, more like.

Twels had a silent chuckle and went to look back out the window when his nerves hit him again. Shaking hands wouldn't do on the track.

____________________________

Mal Soe opened and eye and looked at the form to his left.

It was a standing, stuttering, visibly shaken, Micah Twels.

Two words were uttered from the younger driver's lips, twisting into a question as they floated down towards Soe.

"Help me?"

Moyles Pawt awoke slowly on the aeroplane. Flying seemed to work as one big sleeping pill for the 54 year old racing manager. Weary eyes opened and searched the cabin for his two star races.

He had expected to find them as far away from each other as possible. They usually took the seats on either side of the plane.

But there they were, middle aisle, side by side.

Meditating?

Moyles couldn't help but smirk at the sight.

Perhaps there was some hope for Twels yet.

THE ROCKET REPORT

CAN WE JUST GO RACING?

By: Meghan Traynor, Pocono City Sports Report

Pocono City, Newmanistan- Racing is the number one sport in the Empire of Newmanistan. Despite the success of our world football team, and the Empire hosting the World Bowl of that other sport that gets called football, we can never lose sight of the fact that Newmanistan is a nation built upon the automobile industry and the racing culture. Why do you think those football teams are nicknamed Rockets? It is because of this base industry, the Rocket-powered engines cranking up and going racing. Stock cars may be the preferred racing method in the Empire, but the open wheel drivers certainly get their fair share of respect too. Road course racing and the fundamentals and skills that are a part of our great open wheel drivers are also loved here. Keystone Racing’s NSF1 team of Jonathan Tremblay and Allison Benjamin are off to a terrific start. No, they aren’t leading the points. But they have run well, and remain in the mix, with a lot of racing to go, starting today as practice in Agroprom begins.

So why then, Newmanistanians? Why is the most talked about NSF1 driver in Newmanistan Micah Twels? It could be somewhat understood if the reason we were talking about Twels was because of his racing successes on the track and the fact that he is consistently at the front of the pack. But no. We keep talking about Tundra Falls. Folks, I hate to break this to you. But it’s over with. Your protests outside the Newmanistan Racing Association headquarters for Jenn Murphy to pull Benjamin and Tremblay are not going to work. And why should they? Why, in the world, should Allison Benjamin and Jonathan Tremblay be punished? Come on, protesters, tell me, that. I’ll give you 10 seconds to come up with a good reason. Tremblay and Benjamin are racers, they don’t give a damn about what’s going on, and if we listened to you protestors, how do you think they will react? Jenn Murphy, believe it or not, is in communication with NSF1 over the incident. NSF1, likewise, is in contact with Murphy. There’s no bad blood here. Sorry, if you wanted there to be. And contrary to what you might want to think, there is also no bad blood between Twels and Newmanistan’s drivers Tremblay and Benjamin.

Time goes on, and what’s done is done. I know that this doesn’t apply to all Newmanistanians. I know there are a lot of you watching the NSF1 races as a fan of the sport, and don’t really care about what happens with Twels. But for those of you protesting, it’s time to go home. If you don’t want to watch the NSF1, then don’t watch it. The series doesn’t need you. Jenn Murphy doesn’t need you, and neither do Jonathan Tremblay nor Allison Benjamin. The Tundra Falls incident is over. Done. Finished. Time to stop saying what if someone got killed, because you know what, no one did. Get over it. In fact there are some of us, who knowing that the incident didn’t really amount to anything serious, just sit back, and are kind of amused by the whole thing. There’s a race in Agroprom this week, and here’s what I want you to do. I want you to watch this race. Forget Micah Twels the drunk, and appreciate Micah Twels, the racer. Support Tremblay and Benjamin, because you know what, they haven’t been doing all that badly, and maybe more support from the home base can push them over the top. It’s time to go racing. Start your engines!

(augh, it's started?)

"Jeff, a bit of a bodge job on the Stellar this year?"

"Well, we couldn't find sponsorship. We were scrambling around like mad just to find names to put on the car. Crazy. Too short notice, we thought this F1 lark had gone for good. That's why everyone's driving around in Stellar Supacars now."

"It's hardly a groundbreaking effort..."

"We had to adapt las year's car for this. The museum piece. But it's light and nippy and we've already had a pole."

http://www.skyscraperpicture.com/f1pictures/26.JPG

"Any hopes for the title?"

"Not this year. Too little time to prepare. But the best we can do is score some decent points."

"Quite right too...it's important for next year."

"Indeed, the television rights."

"Not just that, you'll lose the franchise if you don't improve."

"What?"

"New regulations from the governing body. If you don't meet the standards the Wentland entry will go out to tender. It applies to everyone else too..."

"But no-one else has a developed racing car industry! Consolidated Motors have been trying to enter for years...have they tipped the bosses or something?"

"No idea, Jeff...but you'd best get some results sharpish. I dunno if a fifth will do it."
Van Luxemburg

The Monteluci factory, Venezia, Arvaglio, Van Luxemburg

Seated by a large, long table, all crewmembers of the Monteluci SFS F1 Team had gathered together. They were discussing the latest developments in the sport, after having taken all the mail from the mailbox at the end of the factory driveway.

‘We had some good results lately, so we need to keep this up. We need to prove once and for all that we belong to the top of the motorsport world, and that we’re not only an automobile manufacturer. That said, let’s look over the news of the last few races, shall we?’ Alfredo said, looking around the room. All nodded.

‘Well, then. Micah Twels. Seems he’s really popular lately, but people also discuss a lot about him. There might be some action against him due to that.. incident… in Newmanistan. They’re investigating it right now.’ Alfredo said again, now looking at both his drivers.

‘We’ll be racing on Moiano in a few weeks. Now, I might call this some evil plan, but what if we alert the Autobahnpolizei to crack down on all traffic violators in the area? You have some good connections inside the local branch of the motorway cops, father.’ Paolo said, an evil grin showing on his face for the first time.

‘Hmm.. They will be on their toes anyways, but I’ll tell them to be even more alert. It’s evil, but if we can catch Twels again, we already took out one driver.’ Alfredo replied.

‘Guys, I’m usually the man with the ego and so on, but aren’t we going a bit too far this time? Alerting our own police units to look out for a foreign race driver? Plus, they can’t imprison him either. They can’t do anything, so there will be no positive effects.’ Baer said, relaxed, with his feet resting on the table.

‘Well, I’ll tell them, and they should do with it whatever they want. Anyways, on to the next theme for this gathering. We’ve seen some technical developments lately. In several teams, so do we need to take action?’ Alfredo moved on, with him especially accenting ‘we’.

‘I think, that we shouldn’t. We currently have an excellent car that we cannot blame anything on, we just don’t seem to be in luck very much. We gathered two points this season. Not a lot, but it’s better than nothing.’ Giancarlo, the engineer behind the RF13, spoke.

‘Very well then, I think we can conclude this meeting for now. I suggest that everyone will gather their stuff and move down to Agropom. I’ll all meet you at the airport in about 5 hours, I think. We need to get moving, so don’t arrive too late.’ Alfredo said, while he gathered his paperwork and clamped it under one arm. He then walked out the room, followed by the two drivers and Giancarlo. The rest then also rose up, taking their papers with them and walking out the room in a less orderly fashion.

Manager to bad Marc, you wrecked. We really got to get a new design on the wing. One failure at the wrong time and.... *Manager makes cutthroat motion*

Marc: fully agree with you.

JK: What about those fans? They're bloody idiots! they through all sorts of debris at me. Why? Cause I am a Tonissian.* I hope they never allow those idiots back on that track, in fact they should not be allowed within 1000 meters of that place. *JK rollseyes*

Manager: Well, we have some work to do on the car you guys can do what ever you want right now, I don't really have anything to add except I should expect new Wing packages next week.

Sixth in qualifying.

Nothing to be ashamed of, Twels.

Gotta' get that in your head, man.

You've done worse.

You've done a hell of a lot worse.

Qualifying isn't where you're supposed to shine, my friend.

Wait for the day.

Just wait for the day...

Twels slid out of the new, supposed-to-be-shiny-but-is-now-quite-badly-scratched-god-Pawt-is-going-to-kill-me-for-scratching-the-damned-paint-job-on-it's-first-run F1L3. For all the hype it'd been receiving back home, it wasn't too different from the ol' XP he had driven. Sure, he had noticed a couple of improvements. Extra grip in this corner, bit more blast down that straight, but it was nothing world-breaking.

It was a great car, sure. But, Twels wanted something more. He wanted a car that would break the sound barrier with just the twitch of your ankle.

Tugging the gold'n'green helmet off of his head rather harshly, Micah gave a pit member a thumbs up and a slight grin before chucking him the head-gear. Behind him, Mal Soe had just pulled up in his F1L3.

Here was something Twels couldn't figure.

Mal was faster than him on the straights. But he couldn't keep the pace through the corners. It was like he was scared of the damned things. Then again, Mal had been brought up on the tracks back home in Rennidan and they were, well, not the greatest for corners.

The gloves felt pretty water-logged with sweat as Twels reverted back to his first time around Rennidan's brutal track. On the first corner, he had pretty much converted the two year old XS F1Trainer into a biplane that day. Actually, it had gone from car to biplane to flaming wreck pretty fast.

But not fast enough for Twels.

"He blocked me, that bastard!" insisted Adrian Girolamo.

Damon Ferringhi, already annoyed by Leon Williams's spectacular second-last qualifying place snapped back, "He didn't block you. You nearly drove your car up his goddamn tailpipe!"

"I didn't know he was going to brake like that!"

"That's what you're supposed to do when you get to a turn! Brake! You moron! That's why you're in bloody 18th place!"

Damon stormed off to berate Leon Williams. Adrian looked for somewhere to put his helmet.

"So are we settled on strategy then?"

Adrian looked up to see his race engineer regarding him with an eager expression.

"What?"

"One-stop again. You made it work the last time, we're set on that, right? I thought we agreed on this, but we can't touch the fuel now so I guess if you want to change there's no point anyway."

So that was why the car seemed so lumbering and ponderous. Adrian had completely forgotten about the brimming fuel load. Not a championship-winning move, idiot he thought.

"Oh, yeah. Sure. Thanks." At least with his teammate second-last there was a limit to how pissed off Damon could get at him.

Turn Five, Paul Gilchrist's Final Hotlap

Paul loved this corner. A full throttle blast down the hill, keep the eye on the apex, ride the kerb on the exit and full speed down to turn six. Keep an eye out for the braking point....hard on the brakes, clip the apex and on the throttle again on the exit.

Except this time, the car slid a little on the entry to the corner, sending him wide. Up onto the kerb, three wheels on the grass, wrestling to get it back on track. It had definately cost him time, but he had to concentrate again, get the rest of the lap right...goddamnit! Crossing the line, his steering wheel gave him the bad news.

F1 Agroprom Garage, Just After Qualifying

"What the HELL!? Twelfth! Twelfth at my own goddamn grand prix! How the hell?!"
"It was just a little mistake Paul..."
"Thats two! Two little mistakes in four races! What the hell is happening here?!"
"Our race strategy is optimal, remember...."
"Our race strategy is always optimal! I want PACE in the QUALIFYING!"

Most of the mechanics had never seen Paul this angry. He gets irritated, irked and annoyed. But never angry.

But none of this compared to how Derek Groznij was feeling. A full two seconds off the pace consistently, this really was going to be the worst race of the season for him. His home race, in front of his home fans. Currently, he was sitting shell shocked in the motorhome. Understeer, oversteer, lack of grip, he'd had it all. One stopper for the race though, which was the only real bright side. It wouldn't be until tommorow that he knew what was going on....

Campsite 22A, Rostok Race Track

The entire campsite was one big party. Fans from all over the world had gathered there, and were being treated to a wide variety of the countries best bands. Pulse had got the party started earlier, and the music would continue until around one in the morning. There were an estimated 49,000 camping around the racetrack that night, and Campsite 22A was by far the largest.

One of the more vocal selection of fans were the Paolo Monteluci fans, having travelled all the way from Van Luxemburg. There were a fair few of them as well, celebrating their boys excellent 10th place qualifying effort. As the bass pumped and the drinks flowed, everyone looked forward to the race the next day. Who the hell would win? The worlds best drivers, on track in Agroprom. It would be an event to savour.

The Next Day, The Starting Grid

Paul is in his zone, his thinking place. Calm replaced anger, serenity filled his mind. The warm up lap would start in less than a minute, and the grid was being cleared of mechanics. Eleven cars in front of him, how many could he pass by the first corner? His engineers told him he needed to get up to at least 10th to stand a chance of his strategy getting him onto the podium. Everything was worked out, calculated, ready.

Five aircraft of the Agroprom Air Force flew overhead, marking the start of the formation lap. Gun the engine, drop the clutch, into first gear, and away. He was only 5 km away from the start of his home race. He hoped he would do well...

Can I just ask about the lap times here? The lap record was 1:36.722, yet the fastest quali lap was 1:14.104. Bit of a drastic drop isn't it?

Rostok Race Track

Through the Eyes of a Rennidanian Racer...

The podium is the only thing there is out there for me now.

To me, a race track isn't a loop.

It's one long, winding stretch of road.

And at the end is that big ol' trophy, calling my name.

It's the pot of gold to the rainbow.

The Wizard to the Yellowbrick Road.

The only thing between me and that podium spot are eighteen corners and twenty nine other racers, all thinking the same thing as me.

Ah well.

Time to blow them away.

Moyles Pawt rolled up to Windizi Meshe's garage entrance, his weary eyes sweeping over the line up of cars-which-might-as-well-be-rockets. He could easily spy Twels and Soe in the mix-up, their green and gold cars gleaming in the Agroprom sunlight. His cracked upper lip curled into a slight smirk as he noted the lights counting down.

He rewound back to his heyday of racing. The sheer exhilaration of belting round a corner at a hundred was enough to make his eyes water. It was perhaps the grandest feeling Pawt had ever encountered. But as with all things that make you feel so great, there's always a downside.

His eyes turned back down to his lap, encapturing the image of his limp lower body stuck in his wheelchair. Thing is though, to him, it didn't feel like a wheelchair. For him, it was the old electric chair that'd let you know "Hey, buddy, you're now one of the condemed". It was a constant reminder that he ruined his chances for stardom by taking too many risks when it wasn't appropriate.

He just hoped that all the racers on the track that day, not just the two from his home country who were developing into some unorthodox family, but every single man or woman on that track with their hands firmly gripped around a hi-tech steering wheel, he hoped every single damned one of them had learned from his mistakes.

Because, and trust me on this, it's really not worth it in the end.

Really.

THE ROCKET REPORT

KEYSTONE RACING FINISHES 2ND & 6TH! (From the bottom)

Agroprom- Thank God that’s over. After trying to refocus our nation’s attention on the racing aspect of the great NSF1 series, it would have been nice if Jonathan Tremblay and Allison Benjamin gave our fans at home a little something to be excited about. The race in Agroprom received the highest TV ratings at home since the opener in Tundra Falls, but this is not want they were hoping to see.

The race winner Paolo Monetluci, from Van Luxembourg, who seemed to have a large number of home-nation supporters that made the trip to root him. It was really a fantastic display of fandom shown by those people. We looked all around for those waving Newmanistan flags during the race, and while a few were spotted, it’s clear that we are not sending as many supporters to these races as other nations are. While we were turned away from the series, and concerned more about things like suspending Micah Twels, our racers, Tremblay and Benjamin have raced well. So it’s disappointing, very disappointing that they would finish 25th (Tremblay) and 29th (Benjamin), out of 30 cars. They were never factors; practicing poorly, qualifying poorly, then performing poorly. Hopefully those who turned on their TV sets to the NSF1 for the first time since Tundra Falls will give our drivers another chance.

So what exactly, went wrong? “I didn’t have the kind of forward bite I needed. Overall the handling wasn’t that bad, but going into the throttle, my car was slower then the others, so we were especially getting killed coming out of turn 18 to the front stretch. We have to figure out why this happened, so hopefully when we come back to a track like this, we can do better then finish 25th. I hate running in the back. It is absolutely embarassing.” commented Tremblay. “There is no excuse for the performance. I hope all our fans will support us in United Hetzel next week. Like Jon said, forward bite did seem to be an issue, we were a lot slower on the exit of turn 18, and therefore couldn’t get up the kind of speed we needed for the front stretch. That was the biggest problem,” responded Allison Benjamin. Well, as Allison alluded to, we are going to United Hetzel next. Hopefully, it will lead to a better performance, though you can’t really get much worse then this.

Rennidan Are Still In Buisness

Agropom- He may be hated and hunted, but Micah Twels of Windizi Meshe sure isn't going to be giving up anytime soon. After publicly thanking Meghan Traynor for trying to get the publics mind back on what really mattered here, the racing, Twels went on to claim his forth podium position in as many races.

The 22 year old Rennidanian native was in first place until he experienced some 'teething' problems in the fifth to last lap. This allowed Paolo Monetluci of Monteluci SFS F2 to pass Twels on his inside, leading to what was a rather exciting one-lap battle for first around the track until Twels had more troubles and had to lay back for the last four laps and take his third second place this season. Still, Windizi Meshe wasn't complaining as the extra eight points helped to bolster their stranglehold on the competition.

We'll wait and see what the race in United Hetzel will bring, and hope that all this silly fuss about Twels will die down for good so we can concentrate on all that matters.

The tarmac.

Well, this is slightly annoying.

As Pabli has't been around for a while now (actually, his last forum activity was on the 22nd, but his last post was the 15th), can I suggest we talk about some plan of action? I've put in a bit too much time RP-wise to just sit around and watch this die.

Has anyone, for instance, got the copy of the Excel sheet Pabli was using for this?
