Adgie Wins Big in Pablicosta

PABLICOSTA- Joey Adgie caused a big stir when he decided to race cars and govern his nbation at the same time. But today it payed off as Adgie won the Pablicosta 200 in an exciting race that featured many leadchanges and a big wreck halfway that sent two cars flipping. Adgie passed Geranian Driver Harry Sullivan with two laps to go and held on to win the inagural race in the series.
The pole in this race went to Hetzelian driver Kelly Creebar. She was passed almost immeadeatly by Courtney Kelso and Bob Smith. Liam Nelson passed Smith and looked to have a car to beat,as he battled with Kelso and Ryder but he would be caught up in an accident. The accident happened on lap 34 when Odefestani driver John Foster tried to avoid contact with Trent Harker but ended making contact with his temmate Gary Daniels. Daniels spun and got hit by Kosovoen driver Alex Cintron who tipped Daniels on his roof. Harker also ended up on his roof with an assist from Foster. Foster then angered a few of his competitors by staying out in a car that had sustain enough damage to be going almost 30 miles under the speed limit. Foster would finish three laps down. Next race will be at the series hometown of White Beach ,United Hetzel.

Alex Martin finishes second in first
Stock Car Cup Race

After a bad qualifying atempt earlier in the week the #22 car of Alex Martin fought back, and finished second in the first ever stock car cup race last week. Other Taeshan driver Seth Youns who had a great qualifying run finished in the last 5 cars after a valve failure.

In other racing news the Kosovoen driver in this cup Alex Cintron raced to a last couple of places finishing. It was an overall good weekend although some issues plagued the two teams.

a little note the race in Taeshan will have extreme temperatures. The nation is very cold and just resently had are highest temp ever at 57 F. And at the time the race will be coming around it will be mid winter, and the temp will be in the negative teens. It may snow so the race will be long and crashes are bound to be on and on. Tires may need to be constructed for the conditions.

Also when the race enters Kosovoe it will be deep in the summer, and the Kosos are the opposite of Taes, thay just had there lowest temperature this year also, at 78 F. So expect the air to be sweltering and muggy, maybe rained out Quals. Also the conditions on track are extreme and may cause problems(wrecks, failures) Tae and Koso drivers and teams and cars are used to this but it still has most affects on us.

ADGIE: WIN COULD BE CLASSIFIED AS A MIRACLE

PABLICOSTA - Amazing how things turn out, eh?

Just days ago, Council Chairperson Joey Adgie, teammate Drake Arbuckle, and the entire Southamptonshire Racing Club was on the verge of a massive collective nervous breakdown trying to find an edge over the other teams participating in the NationStates Stock Car Racing League. "Altogether, I've gotten like five hours of sleep this week," team principal Doug Byrd stated. "This whole damn team has been agonizing about what we could do to get the advantage over the rest of the field."

Looks like they got what they wanted.

Joey Adgie somehow or another scored the victory in a wild race in Pablicosta, in a race that some experts are calling one of the all-time great races in the history of motorsports. "It could simply be described as a miracle," a relieved and exhausted Adgie said in victory lane.

The race-winning pass came when Adgie made a wicked pass on Harry Sullivan, and held off a hard-charging Alex Martin. Adgie admitted that he probably wouldn't have been able to hold off Martin for another lap.

"He was faster. I'm not gonna beat around the bush. He wanted to win that race like you would not believe. If that race was 81 laps instead of 80, he would have gotten me. I just feel like I got lucky.

And luck is what matters here at a place like this. You could have the fastest car on the track, but you could also have fifteen guys working together, and your fastest-car advantage is negated. Good lord, that was the wildest race I've ever been in."

Regarding the wild race statement, teammate Drake Arbuckle concurred.

"I personally didn't think we had a chance in hell," the bone-tired Drake said. "You have 24 guys, all with an equal shot at winning this thing. In 80 laps, 200 miles, anything can happen. It's the unpredictability that comes with a place like that, possibly more so here than at any other track in the world. Pablicosta's got a hell of a venue. I just shudder to think how scary it'd be if the field was double the size."

Arbuckle had to be helped out of the car, primarily due to an incident that occured with three laps to go.

"The fucking fire extinguisher went off when I was trying to battle for position," Drake said. "At the risk of sounding like Nigel Mansell, the cockpit filled with chemicals, and it was hard to breathe, so that screwed me up there at the end."

It should be noted that Drake utilizes an open-face helmet, something he has used since the beginning of his career.

QUIET OPENER IN PABLICOSTA

The NSSCRL opened its inaugural season this week, in case you didn’t notice. We almost didn’t. Ok, we’re just kidding around there, as obviously we were aware of the opening of the series at the 2.5 mile oval in Pablicosta, that was won by some guy from Southamptonshire. But when you only go 200 miles in a race, it can be easy to not notice it, if you catch our drift. Long races have always been a Newmanistan tradition, and anything under 300 miles is called more of a sprint, then a race.

So on that note, the sprint drew many fans from all over the world at the beautiful speedway, with flags waving. Nationalistic pride, cheers, and even soccer-like chants were heard as the cars lined up on pit road prior to the command to start engines. Then, once the engines fired, the reality that the world was about to go racing set in, and the fans all wondered what exactly they would see. Most of the fans though, wanted to see Pablicostan success, but it would not be the day for the Harker brothers. They were then insulted later on when on the official scoring sheet they were listed as the “Hanker’s”. I mean, that almost sounds like they wanted to say something else about them. Not wise to piss off the home crowd like that!

The Empire failed to get great results in the event, and neither Mark Chatman and Courtney Kelso were really much of a factor in the sprint. Kelso qualified well, though faded as the day went on. They would end up finishing 12th & 16th respectively, so surely better days will be on the horizon for them. Perhaps that will in the next sprint, which will take place in United Hetzel, which is the home base of NSSCRL headquarters.

THE NETHERTOPIAN SPORTSTIMES

Nethertopia starts off mediocre
Pablicosta - Not a great start for the Nethertopian racefans, with Tillenberg finishing 8th and Vandaag not finishing the race. Vandaag had ignition problems. He told us in an interview that he's eager on revanche. "Well, it's just bad luck. I should've chosen number 13," he laughed. "I just want to see if i can beat Romeo next time. That's my main focus." Tillenburg told us he was satisfied with his finish in 8th place. "At least we didn't both crash," he told us after the race. "We're both eager to race in UH."

Track anounced
Tenderville - Today our new Racetrack has been anounced, where the 5th race will take place. It's name is Tenderclothes4sportswear Nethertopian Racetrack . It's a 1.75 Mile big track 8 shaped. It's ready for the T4 175, 100 rounds on the track.

Kolanderaz may have had one of their finest sporting achievements today as their two drivers, Mikkola and Mantabano , finishe a hugely respectable third and 4th in the first race.
Despite poor qualifying session they raced a solid race, happily avoiding the huge pile-up during the race.
Kolanderaz is proud of our racers and wish them all the best in the rest of the races

Southamptonshire dominace continues Arbuckle wins Racefest '08

White Beach, United Hetzel - Drake Arbuckle won an unusial race in White Beach that started of as a single file parade of cars but turned into a race to see who's strtegy could work the best. Pablicostian driver Seth Harker Took the lead on the start if the race and lead the first 22 laps in what has previouslty been described as a parde of race cars. On laps 23 through 25 rougly half the field short pit, while the other half stayed out tried to make it all 40 laps on fuel This gave Gary Roberts, who suffered a concussion in pablicosta, the lead. Roberts lead till seven to go when drake Arbuckle passed his coming into the chicane before the final corner. Arbuckle had gotten around Harker with a balsy three wide pass around one of the Fujisawan cars. Roberts paid dearly for his gamble as once he got caught he fell back like a lead weight and wound up thirteenth. Seth Harker fineshed second.Teammate Trent Harker had a missfire on the warm-up lap and ran the enitre race on 7 cylinders. He fineshed 22nd one lap down. Third went to Hometown hero Kelly Creebar and fourth was pole sitter Grays Mikkola. Pablicosta winner Joey Adgie fineshed 5th. Next weeks race will be held in L1011Tristars at Lockehead Martin City raceway.

MORE SUPBAR NEWMANISTAN RESULTS

United Hetzel- Southamptonshire went 2-for-2 on the young season, with some guy named Drake winning the event in United Hetzel. Just a 40 lap sprint, the Newmanistan drivers simply had a hard time getting into a groove as evidenced by the 7th place finish by Mark Chatman. After the event, Chatman was quoted as saying, "We had just made the right adjustments to this car to make it go fast, and I felt that I get by some the guys ahead of me, but that opportunity just never came for us. We lost ground early, and couldn't make it up. Give me another 80 laps, and I think i would have had something for the frontrunners."

Courtney Kelso's day was very quiet. She qualified 11th, and finished 16th, and was never a factor. However, it didn't matter as Keystone Wireless, Newmanistan's leading Wireless company has taken notice of her, and signed her to a pretty nice endorsement deal. She is expected to appear in commercials within the next six weeks, and may even get some time to appear with Jeremy McAllister, Newmanistan's soccer superstar as he is also under an endorsement contract with Keystone Wireless. Despite the poor finish, Courtney was in positive spirits due to this, "The car was crap. But that's life. I know Mark thinks if he had 80 more laps he could have a chance to win. Well, not with me. If there were 80 more laps, it would have just given me an opportunity to finish more laps down. It just wasn't our day. But man I'm stoked about the endorsement deal, that check is worth more then the end of season NSSCRL bonus!"

Territorial Sports News Network
Chinatsu Abe: Recapping the first two races now for the current NSSCRL season...Dakama Keitakin impressed many last year when he won the Crosscom Global 500 last season in the Territories’ domestic stock car racing league, but he impressed even more when he qualified in third in the Pablicosta 200 for the NSSCRL.

Unfortunately for Keitakin and the Territories, he finished eleventh in the Pablicosta 200, and the Fujisawan Territories’ other driver, Chiwazi Torine who qualified in last place, finished fifteenth.

In the second race of the season, Racefest ‘08, Keitakin qualified in thirteenth and finished ninteenth, while Torine qualified in fifteenth and finished eighteenth.

“We’re used to our domestic tracks like Iwosaka International [Motor Speedway], and that’s why I’m looking forward to the Crosscom 125. I really wasn’t prepared for international competition, but I’m giving it my all,” Torine said following Racefest ‘08.

Crosscom Global Telecommunications is considering co-sponsoring Torine, and already sponsors Keitakin.

“It’s great being there in all this with Chiwazi. She’s a great competitor and I think it’s an outstanding accomplishment to be the first to represent our country internationally in stock car racing,” Keitakin commented yesterday.

Better things to come
White Beach, United Hetzel - Nethertopian drivers disappointed the fans. With a 9th and 19th qualifier and a 14th and 23th finish on track things coudn't have gone worse for our two drivers. The two NSSCRL racers failed to impress on the Air Hetzel Intl RACEFEST. Especially Romeo Tillenberg seemed to have made a bad preformance, after what he showed us of what he's capable of at the Pablicosta 200.
Henk Vandaag pulled a better trick, but he's still waiting for a top ten finish "I'm a bit happier about the result," he told us. "I know i'm capable of running in the top ten here, but this is some improvement for the time being." Both drivers are looking forward to the Lockhead Martin 200 that will start in a few days.

Tillenburg romantically involved with Kelso?
White Beach, United Hetzel - Romeo Tillenberg and Courtney Kelso were spotted on a terrace the day before last race, after the qualifiers. While not being very intimate, they looked like they were on a date. This might've caused the bad prestations of the two drivers. We haven't had the chance to talk to Kelso yet and Tillenberg told us to "piss off". We'll keep tracking the events for you.

Peregrinus City T4 171.5 announced
Peregrinus City - After an asphalt check which the Tenderclothes4sportswear Nethertopian Racetrack failed, thus closing it for the time being, a new racetrack was found. The new track 2.45 mile street course. 70 laps will be driven on it, making it a 171.5 Mi long race. T4 stayed sponsor, although not with much pleasure. They'd rather seen that the race would've been held in Tenderville, the second city of Nethertopia and home to the Tenderclothes4sportswear Nethertopian Racetrack.

Stockcar Drivers Fail to Fire

Our 2 stockcar drivers, John Foster and Greg Daniels, have so far produced only average to below average results in the NSSCL. In the 1st race, we even caused that great smash when John hit Greg, sending him spinning. The replay was spectaular. Sadly, that was the only thing that was. John finished 18th, last of the people who finished the race, and Greg didnt finish. In the second race, Foster and Daniels came 11th and 13th respectively. They will no doubt be looking to improve their form, and to get some better results, in the top 10 perhaps?

New-look Occurence

You might have noticed that the Occurence looks a little different today. Thats because we have changed the heading font from Times New Roman to Garamond, because our editor thought it looked better.

THE NETHERTOPIAN SPORTSTIMES

Good day at the races
L1011 Tristars - Nethertopia had a good day at the Lockhead Martin 200. With both drivers in the top ten qualifiers and both drivers finishing in the top half this country is proud of his drivers.
"This was a beautiful race for us," grinned Henk Vandaag. "I already told that i'm capable of finishing top ten, but when i crossed the finish line as number 3 i coudn't be happier. I just hope that i can remain this form and race like crazy on our own track."
Romeo Tillenberg told us the next: "I'm happy for Henk. he made a great race and he showed the crowd and the drivers what he's capable of. I think that he'll take at least one prize at home this year. But i'm still hoping to face him one-on-one here somewhere and beat him. We'll see how this'll turn out."

It is a happy day today for Gerans in L011 Tristars. NSSCL driver Liam Foster has reached 10th place, pushing his "allie", Harry Sullivan, straight down the league. Sullivan had previously been 8th in the league, but he says he is fine with his demotion. Speaking from Tristars Plaza tioday, he spoke to our racing correspondent.
"Foster's a great guy and I'm happy for him doing so well. I'm not so bothered really since this is my last league before I take a break from stock car racing. My family needs me. Still, I still pledge to rise in the league."

NASCAR Recovery for Harken

After a disappointing start from both Harken brothers in the NASCAR competition it looks like Seth Harken could be turning round his season after leading the entire race and picking up 185 points. Alas, Trent was unable to follow up his 2nd position from the preceding race as he crashed out after 67 laps.

Seth Harken said after the race that although he was pleased with his own performance he did make it clear that the teams results are currently sub par. "We need to step up, no doubt about it. Me and Trent haven't had a good race together yet, it seems like we can't both race well. We're spending a lot of time on the test track trying to get the sort the kinks out, and we'll get it done". When pushed on why exactly the pairing doesn't seem to be working out Harken told me; "Well I don't think it's us, as a pair. The team works, as far as I'm concerned it's me and Trent who are making the mistakes and it's got nothing to do with us driving together".

So when will the Harken's performances improve? Well, we can't be sure. They've got the talent that's for sure and the team behind them are first rate, so it's just a matter of time. Seth's results are misleading finishing 6th and 1st, with that 22nd, so it could be that he's onto a good run now. Avoiding crashes is the goal, and if he can manage that he'll be looking at a great season.
Trent on the other hand is an enigma. 24,2,21 proves that he has the skill to make a great finish but also the unenviable skill to ruin his own races. The team will have a job keeping him on the track for the duration of the coming races.

With a bit of luck and if both drivers can stay on the track I think we could see a Harken 1,2 soon.

NEWMANISTAN GOES 6 AND 9

The third sprint in the NSSCRL was completed this afternoon, and it was to date, the best Newmanistan performance of the young season. Despite the shortened races, and the fact that the Empire was also hosting the Formula One race on the same day, many Newmanistanians made the short trek to the fellow OBI nation of L1011Tristars to support Mark Chatman and Courtney Kelso, and they would not be disappointed with Chatman finishing 6th and Kelso in the 9th spot. The current NSSCRL standings are unavailable but we would really like to see them soon (hint, hint).

Chatman began the day in 15th and gradually moved his way up to the 6th spot, and once again wondered what may have been if he had more laps. "This was kind of like the last race for me," said Chatman, "I felt as though we were getting stronger towards the end of the race, and with more time maybe we could have had a top 3. Hanker/Harker/Harken (which is it?) was very strong today, and deserves the victory.

Kelso began the day 5th and ended up taking the 9th spot home, her best perfomance of the season. She slipped a bit at the start, blaming a tempermental Southamptonshire driver for some contact on the first lap of the race, but eventually heald her ground for much of the day. "We did better then we did before, and we will build on it." she said.

Courtney also responded to rumors of her and Nethertopia's Romeo Tillenberg having been seen together in several spots over the last couple weekends. "You guys need to just focus on racing," she said, "what I do and who I hang out with isn't really any of your business. And besides, any guy named Romeo, I have to get to know better! (grins)"

Greetings everyone, I'm Meghan Traynor for the Pocono City Sports Report, and in this segment of the show, we are going to discuss the NSSCRL, which has put three races in the books (OOC: Hetzel, we really need the season point stats posted) and Newmanistan's young drivers Mark Chatman and Courtney Kelso haven't actually set the series on fire, but they haven't been terrible either. It is my pleasure now to be joined live via satellite, by Courtney Kelso.

Traynor: Hey Courtney, how are you this afternoon.

Kelso: I'm doing very well. Been watching some Cup of Harmony highlights, haven't been able to catch the games live because we've just been so busy with everything, but now we have a chance to relax a little bit so I have to catch up with what else is going on in Newmanistan sports!

Traynor: Yeah, the Cup of Harmony, as well as the World Bowl seem to have the Empire's main interest right now, so what's it going to take for the NSSCRL to get on that stage?

Kelso: It's going to be pretty tough, I mean there is a lot of competition right now, especially with the two footballs, and OBIRA, and the formula one series already attracting interest ahead of us because they've already raced in Newmanistan. Our race is coming up soon.

Traynor: Some tickets are still on sale, I'm told, but it is expected to sell out eventually.

Kelso: Yeah, I believe that it will. I think some fans may also be turned off by the short nature of the races.

Traynor: Perhaps. So what's it like out there as a female racer. Have the guys of the other countries been showing you respect?

Kelso: Yeah, I think so. The only couple guys that have raced me like idiots, seem to do that to everyone, so I don't think my gender has been a negative.

Traynor: Who will win first, you or Mark?

Kelso: I think if I had to choose, probably Mark because his team just seems a lot closer right now, we are still building.

Traynor: And finally I have to ask, what's this about you and Romeo.

Kelso: He's my friend and I don't really think I need to comment any further about it.

Traynor: Ok, thank you Courtney, good luck to you.

Kelso: Thanks Meghan.

STEVE: Welcome to Radio Sport Ofedestan, with all the news and views from all areas of sport, and welcome to Saturday Sportscast at 12, with all the sport to set you up for the weekend. Today, me and my colleague Dave
DAVE: Hi!
STEVE: will bring you news from-
DAVE: Preparations for the ONFL, starting tomorrow,
STEVE: the buildup to WC41, coming up very fast,
DAVE: And we talk with the team from Defalia about their first match at home against the Nuggets.
STEVE: But first, analysis from the latest stockcar race, and a chat with our drivers.
DAVE: We'll go live to our motorsport correspondent Jake Hudson, who watched every minute. Over to you Jake.
JAKE: Thanks Dave. Well, it was an exciting race, and our two drivers are here with me. Greg, how did it go?
GREG: Well it went great actually, I came 5th, behind Harker, Adgie, Vandaag and Arbuckle.
JAKE: So how did it feel, you know, coming in the top 5?
GREG: It was such an exhilarating feeling, knowing how well you did, and also knowing that you have done your country proud, and it really makes you feel better about future races.
JAKE: Not so good for John though. Tell us what happened.
JOHN: Sadly my gearbox managed to break down, so I couldnt finish.
JAKE: Oh. Well, you'll be looking to get it fixed, then.
JOHN: Yes, definetly. Our mechanics are working hard on it.
JAKE: But do you feel happy for how well Greg did?
JOHN: Absolutely. it's good to see that your team is doing well, and you know that it isn't your fault, it just happened to break down, but that sort of thing can happen to anyone.
JAKE: Ah well, good luck for the next race, then, guys!

"Wow" said a pretty shocked blonde reporter as she was led towards the impressive R-Track Mobile HQ "This is, all R-Track?"

Her guide, chief engineer Rob Earnshaw smiled, but stopped short of a grin before replying proudly "Yeah, this whole site is dedicated to getting the best out of those cars. Lets start over here, shall we?" Earnshaw ushered the reporter over towards the first of the 'trucks'.

R-Tracks multi million pound mobile site was impressive, really impressive. It was comparable to a small business park when all set up as it was during this press tour. All of the units resembled huge coaches but each one was 3 times as wide as a regular road vehicle, due to the extending walls on each side. They were all painted in perfect black paint with the red R-Track logo visible on the rear of each. This was serious big money stuff.

"This is the actual team HQ, it's where we hold team meetings with the racers and engineers. It's also home to the team managers office, but you don't see him in there too often-much more hands on". The blonde woman seemed amazed just how good the inside of the meeting room looked, especially for an 'on the road' outfit like this one. She had taken to scribbling notes on a pad for her report later on in the day.

"Just next door is Race Control, that's where the um, race controllers monitor the other cars progress. They're in charge of determining what race tactic is best for our boys, based on what the other racers are doing. It's crucial that we don't miss a trick on race day. Now, on race day we open up the far side of this unit and the near side the next to create a bigger space. The next unit round is Analysis, a load more computer experts watching graphs and numbers, but their sole focus is on our boys. Come race day we need to have perfect communication between these two units, that's why we join them up."

"Now, if we turn onto the back row (the units are arranged in a 'U' shape) we get to the real engineering side of things. I spend most of my time managing this area before and after a race, we take care of the cars and make sure the setup is perfect. These units are amazing, boy...In here we've got two rolling roads that can push up to 1000bhp, they extend out with the unit. It's amazing. Before we send the cars out we run them in there to check everything is right before they go hot. We can also run aerodynamic tests in there, both of the roads double up as wind tunnels. In the centre unit we house all our computers and management equipment, all hooked up the cars so we can get real time data on any mechanical issues. We also get all our read outs from the various tests in there. The other unit is the most expensive one we've got here. Had to be custom built just for us. It extends out like the others, but then the floor drops down too to create a typical garage pit that lets us work underneath the cars."

The pair moved away from the engineering area and towards the final 3 units;

"Now, this is Hospitality. Food, drink, it's all in there. When we just need to relax that's the place, TV, Internet and good food. Really helps you recharge. In the middle we've got everybody's sleeping quarters. It's not glamorous, not by a long shot, but after doing this all day my god it's comfortable in there. Every single person on this team has a bed in there, 2 floors. It's amazing really.
The last unit is Medical & Press. In some of the countries we visit that's the most advanced hospital in the whole dump, no joke. We usually just use it for running physicals on the drivers and giving them a couple of hours observation if they smash the cars up, but it has been known for us to get a call from the local paramedics. Across the hall from that is our press room, we can accommodate 20 of you guys in there for a conference, and it's hooked up with HD Cameras and Audio equipment built into the walls, direct link up to satellite.

Well, that's pretty much it. Shall we head back to hospitality for a drink before we do the interviews?"

Foster Pulls Off Huge win at Gerainia

GERAINIA- John Foster won an exciting Gerainian 200 in wich we saw Kelly Creebar flip and Kolanderezian Driver Adijya Manatanabo hit the pit wall head on for the second race in a row. The race was marred by two cautions within the first ten laps. The first happened on lap three when Seth Youns of Taeshan collided with Kelly Crebar and sent the cars of Henrik Welger, Anjya Manatabano,Leo Ryder and Romeo Tillenberg into the wreck. Creebar would flip over after beeing scooped on her roof. The second caution happened on lap 10 when then leader Trent Harker, who was having his best run since the Pablicosta 200, Cut a tire and had nowhere to go but into his teammate Seth Harker. This collected "Daz" Keilikan and Maxil Welger. A third wreck happened on lap 17 when Alex Martin and Alex Cintron spun. But oddly enough no caution was called. In the nd John Foster took the lead on the last lap from Henk Vendaag and Greys Mikkola. Points Joey Adgie fineshed 4th and should retain hs points lead as fellow countryman and second place in points Drake Arbuckle made only one lap before his valve broke.Gary Daniels, who is the teammate of race winner John Foster, won the pole but ran into some issues and Cut down two tires. The Ofedestan Occurence
Best Result Yet for Stockcar Drivers
Our Ofedestani stockcar drivers, in particular John, have achieved their best result of the NSSCRL yet, with Greg managing a pretty good 14th, and John managing to win the race. This seems to be just what he, at 2nd to last on the table, and the Ofedestani economy, needed. In fact the economy has jumped from Weak to Good after being Fragile a few weeks ago. Greg managed to get pole position, but cut two tires. When we interviewed the pair John said he was "overjoyed" and felt "as if I had been struck by a bomb" as he crossed the finish line. This will surely improve Ofedestan's reputation as a good stockcar nation, and boost pur driver's morale for the next race, in Nethertopia.

Trent would have had 115 points, but in leading 3 laps, he received 5 bonus points, giving him 120.

Seth's total is 124, and given he did not lead a lap, he gets no bonus points, staying at 124.

GOOD RACE BUT ONLY MEDICORE RESULTS

Gerainia- The fouth sprint of the NSSCRL season concluded today, and it was the kind of event that should stimulate some interest into the budding series as this was perhaps the best race of the season. Half the field, or 12 of the 24 drivers had their turn leading a lap, and actually all but one of them led at least three. The lead changes at the front made for entertaining racing in Gerainia, as it came down to last lap in not knowing who would capture that checkered flag. Ultimately, that driver would be John Foster of Ofedestan. But it wasn’t just the racing that was entertaining, a nasty wreck in which United Hetzel’s Kelly Creebar would flip over got everyone’s attention, with sighs of relief when she emerged from the car unharmed.

For Newmanistan, Courtney Kelso brought home the Empire’s best finish, with a 7th place run. Qualifying fourth, Courtney found herself with the leaders for the early portion of the afternoon and led three laps on the day. She faded late, however, and was off the pace of the lead five cars, all of whom finished within a second of each other. It could be the kind of result that gets some momentum going for Courtney, though. After the race, she commented, “I had a lot of fun out there today. This was a great race with all the lead swapping, and being right in the thick of it for a little while. We got off on our adjustments, sadly, and couldn’t quite keep up with the leaders. It’s too bad because it would have been real fun to be in that lead pack. My guys gave me a great car though, so I’m happy.” Kelso also commented on the Creebar wreck, “That was scary, but I am glad that Kelly is ok. It shows how tough this whole racing is and it takes a real tough chick like we are to walk away from that!”

Mark Chatman also had his time with the leaders, as he was also able to lead three laps early. But, then something happened, he faded well off the pace and would end the day three laps behind the race leader, creditted with a 17th place finish. It’s a disappointing result, because Chatman was beginning to look like he might fight for the points lead. Of course, he still can, but this is a setback. Afterwards, he was pretty dumbfounded by the whole deal, “I don’t know how we got so bad so quick,” he said, “So far this year we’ve done a great job in adjusting our car as the race went on and today we went the wrong way, in a big way. When you see the others having fun racing for the lead, and you’re so far off the pace, it just really sucks.”

Next up, we head to Nethertopia, which should be fun, and then get ready because the NSSCRL will be heading here, to Newmanistan.

Controversy Erupts Over Newmanistan Track

Pocono City Newmanistan- A Big controversy over track safety has erupted this passed week surrounding the Pocono City Speedway in Newmanistan. Just a few days after Anjya Mantanbo escaped death after hitting the pit wall head on at 170 MPH saftey concerns have been made about the legendary trak at Newmanistan. Comishioner King David I has stated the Following "We do have grave concerns about the tracks lack of fencing around the outside of the course,we belive this could cause lots of trouble and so far our soultion is going to be yo use the 3/4 mile circuit in the infield. and host a 150 mile race there." the Newmanistani orginizing group could not be reached.

OOC: Jessica a while back before I had even thought about Starting a racing league for NS I had deleated most of the tracks that came with the game and one of them was Pocono. But don't worry I do have the old 3/4th mile oval Pocono used to have in the infield Downloaded. ;)

SAFETY CONCERNS AT POCONO CITY SPEEDWAY??

Pocono City- With the Empire’s race coming up in short time, a recent decision by the NSSCRL’s President, King David I has left the nation dumbfounded. In his eyes, “We do have grave concerns about the tracks lack of fencing around the outside of the course, we believe this could cause lots of trouble and so far our solution is going to be to use the 3/4 mile circuit in the infield. and host a 150 mile race there,"as voiced in a recent statement.

This announcement surprises everyone involved, because there has never been any real serious safety issues at this track. Every race track has danger to it, but in the wake of a couple scary incidents in Gerania, particularly one involving a driver who likes to hit pit walls, the NSSCRL has put safety at a forefront. That, alone, is fine, but in a statement, Empress Jessica replied, “There are no problems and no safety issues with this race track, and we are disappointed that the NSSCRL has come to this decision. We feel the outer barriers of the race track are adequate. Yes, it is an older facility, but it is also traditional, and no driver has really raised this issue before. We almost think they just wanted to use the short track, or perhaps relocate the race to the Proving Grounds. Which is fine, but I want to assure everyone out there that there are no safety issues with Pocono City Speedway.”

About the event, which follows a race in Nethertopia, both Mark Chatman and Courtney Kelso let their feeling be known. “I have raced at this speedway several times, and have never felt as though it had a greater safety risk then any other track that I have been too. I think the race tracks in the Empire are very well maintained,” said Chatman. And Miss Kelso would add, “It’s weird. The track is totally safe, but I kinda look forward to racing on the short track. It will be fun.”

With the Empire having to make this transition now and work fast to get the short track all set up, and having angry ticketholders call the Pocono City Speedway box office about this change, Empress Jessica has made a request to the NSSCRL. “Please upgrade our event to 300 miles, in consideration of all this.”

Trent Harker Wins Weird-Wet Race

NETHERATOPIA- Trent Harker overcame an early pitstop to in the T4 100 in Nethertopia. Harker seemed to be out of the race early, but after green flag pitsop Harker took over the lead fro Ofedistani driver Gary Roberts and crusied on to victory. Pole Sitter Drake Arbuckle fineshed second, dispite having to also pit and repair some damage. Local drivers Henk Vandaag and Romeo Tillenburg struggled as Tillenberg was involved in a lap one accident and Vendaag had radiator issues with two laps to go and had to pit. Controversy erupted on the track for Newmanistan as driver Matt Chatham and Courtney Kelso crashed. This eliminated Chatham, who was running third and Anjiya Manatabano. Kelso finished the race in 11th after running into the back of one of the Taeshanian drivers.

Next week will be run in the 2.5 mile Pocono city speedway after much debate was made of the tracks safety.

THE ROCKET REPORT

NOTHING LIKE COMING HOME AFTER A TOUGH DAY

Nethertopia- The NSSCRL’s most recent event was completed, with Pablicosta’s Trent Harker enjoying the victory in a brief 68 lap sprint. It looked as though it was going to be a good day as in qualifying, Newmanistan had two of the top three spots with Courtney Kelso starting 2nd and Chatman starting on the inside of the second row. But as Newmanistanians well know, it’s not where you start, its where you finish. And in Nethertopia, that couldn’t be any more true.

Perhaps, the Empire could have had a better result if their two drivers did not make contact with one another. Chatman, while running in the third position rear ended Courtney Kelso, in an incident that did not make Courtney very happy as we immediately picked up this radio transmission, “What the heck is doing! Geez damn I’d like to remind him we come from the same garage!” So to, did a lot of Courtney’s team. There were a lot of blank stares going from one pit box to the other with the Kelso did just dumbfounded as to why Chatman was not able to brake in time. Eventually, though, there was some discussion between the pit crews and they shook hands at the end and seemed willing to put the incident behind them. Chatman, who had to retire with a damaged radiator, and creditted with a 23rd place finish, went to the Kelso pit and requested to speak on Courtney’s radio during the race, and they obliged. “Courtney, I just want you to know that I’m sorry. It was my fault.” He said over the radio as Courtney was still running. “Well, I guess... I guess that’s racing, I forgive you, no hard feelings.”

There’s an old saying, and a bit of cliche that goes a little like this, “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.” Well, that is the case afterwards. Once the race was over, and Courtney climbed out of her car, she was greeted immediately by Chatman. An argument? No. A hug. They talked and joked about the matter, surrounded by the crewmen by both teams, sharing jokes and having a good time, enjoying the moment. For a lot of the early NSSCRL season, the Chatman and Kelso pits have been somewhat separate entities, given the drivers different personalities. They planned on taking two separate planes home to Newmanistan, did Kelso and Chatman. But no, not this time. They would fly together, as teammates, determined to make this setback be something they can build on, knowing that they will be racing next in Pocono City. Upon arriving in Pocono City, the drivers and crews all had dinner together, and made a renewed commitment about working together, sharing information, and being one team, one team that just has two cars. Everything happens for a reason. And with them working together and Pocono City up next, the other 22 drivers are the ones in trouble.

Hamilton Wins Destruction Derby

NEWMANISTAN - It was supposed to be a race, but instead it was a demolition derby. Liam Hamilton won the Newmanistan 150 after leaders Greg Daniels and Henk VenDaag crahesd with two laps to go. The race got underway early in the morning due to predected warm tempurtures with Trent Harkler winning pole. Brother Seth quickly got out front an lead till the first caution when Romeo Tillenberg spun and caused the first of many huge pile-ups. James Foster went on his roof during this weck. The second wreck brought forth great controversy as Harry Sullivan and Kelly Creebar crashed an came back out into the track and in the way of traffic. Most drivers claimed it was the 101's fault. After a third caution both of Pablicosta's drivers crashed. after a couple of minor cautions a two lap dash was set up. it seemed like it was going to be a battle between VenDaag and Gary Daniels but they collided on the back stretch and Liam Foster wa able to win!

Would anyone be interested in trying this again. The only teams beside me left are New, and Nethertopia. Anyone interested post. After the recent World Grand Prix i was wondering if anyone is interested in something like this or the Fotmula 1 thing that was also started about this time.

The World Grand Prix Championship is a Formula 1 championship.

I would love to get a stock car (NASCAR-themed) racing series running here. This is where my racing interest lies and not really F1 (though I will casually watch F1 periodically), I watch NASCAR weekly.

I would support something that someone, preferably someone I already recognize, attempted. However I cannot be the "leader" of such a project. Too busy with WBC and writing my World Cup side-story, which I'm enjoying even with it not translating into points!

I'd be moderately interested in running such an occasion, yet not before May 28. That's the date when my exams end and I'll be wholeheartedly available for a month.

We could just ask Adihan for his scorinateor and find someone who can use it, my computer is a piece of crap.
I only watch the first half and the last ten races of the season because i dont have cable. Wasn't talledega awesome?

The scorinator I have isn't really configured for ovals such as in NASCAR, it's more for regular circuits which vary in aero and cornering requirements.

I have a somewhat basic scorinator that I used for the One Big Island Racing Association over a year ago. There the crowd wasn't particularly picky. It could be seen as "too basic" for this level.

Talladega was awesome, indeed. Three weeks 'til Pocono! :D

Which really pisses this Hoosier off when he can't watch Brickyard 400 live (and I can't make it to the race in person because I always have teaching obligations earlier that morning).

And it's even worse when I have to miss watching my favorite and fellow Hoosier Tony Stewart wins it. Nothing makes me happier than seeing that man win that race.
