Universitus University Quintennial Undergraduate Admissions Report: Class of 4185
Increased Applications Prompts Most Selective Admissions Cycle Ever
The Universitus Admissions cycle of 4180 - 4185 has proven to be the most selective in the institution's history. Graduating seniors from across the Allied Empire of Jey from the aforementioned Jevian Years applied well into the hundreds of millions for a spot in the Universitus Entry Class of 4185.
The Traditional prerequisites for submitting an application to Universitus University remained intact for the 5-Jevian Year cycle period: all applicants must have a minimum 97.0% cumulative grade point average in their Graduate Education institution. Absolutely no candidates with lower scores would be considered, unless applying to the Tildes Skills School, and no applicants who submitted an application in disregard of the rule were included in the statistical evaluation of this admissions cycle. In total, 242,442,005 graduating seniors met the preliminary academic requirement through the five year period. Of those 242,442,005 who were eligible to submit an application to Universitus, 236,829,951 proceeded to do so. Failing a referendum of the faculty, again no international students living outside Jey and its territories were permitted to apply to Universitus. One report indicated that the estimated applicants to the university should internationals be permitted to apply would exceed 5 billion individuals. That exceedingly large estimated applicant pool continued as the primary objection to the inclusion of international applicants.
The 236,829,951 prospective Universians were, as always, given the Universitus Test, considered the most rigorous standardized test in Jevian education, for a final entering class of approximately 250,000.
The following is a breakdown of the six undergraduate departments of Universitus and their respective application information:
Department, Applicants who met prerequisites and submitted an application.
Domz Department of Government and Politics, 40,661,241
Kirlsten Department of the Natural Sciences, 68,407,212
Bartsburg Department of the Social Sciences, 32,001,122
West Department of Business, 37,910,448
Aeri Department of Mathematics, 30,341,559
Leef Department of Philosophy, 27,508,369
Total: 236,829,951
As in previous years, the Universitus Test (UT) was used significantly as a method to break down the very large applicant pool into a manageable amount. By rule, only candidates who have attained a perfect score on the Universitus Test (100.0%) are permitted for further evaluation into the university; all other test-takers are rejected. However, an exceedingly high number of prospective Universians were able to attain the second academic prerequisite: a total of 2,892,331 students scored perfectly on the Universitus Test, a very high number compared to previous years which barely exceeded one and a half million. This is attributed to the emerging so-called "UT Cracking Agencies," purporting to know the ins-and-outs of the highly difficult examinations. Therefore, approximately 1.22% of students proceeded to the next round of evaluation, which newly included mandatory 2-month coursework at the prospective student's local Universitus Satellite Campus, which under no circumstance included the Main Campus of Universitus, as part of the subjective process in the application cycle. As in previous years, extensive interviews, teacher evaluations, and perusal of non-academic involvements were part of the next round of evaluations.
The following is a breakdown of the six undergraduate departments of Universitus and their qualifiers for the next round of admission:
Department, Applicants who attained 100.0% on the UT, % of Applicants scoring 100.0%
Domz Department of Government and Politics, 501,001, 1.23%
Kirlsten Department of the Natural Sciences, 931,441, 1.36%
Bartsburg Department of the Social Sciences, 388,476, 1.21%
West Department of Business, 340,772, 0.89%
Aeri Department of Mathematics, 409,054, 1.35%
Leef Department of Philosophy, 321,587, 1.17%
Total: 2,892,331
In previous admissions cycles, scoring perfectly on the Universitus Test nearly guaranteed admission to most prospective Universians. However, with so many applicants performing exceptionally well on the examination, the Undergraduate Admissions Staff was called upon to make very difficult choices concerning nearly flaw-free applicants. Over 90% of them had to be denied admission.
The Undergraduate Admissions Staff (UAS) convened for over three months to come to a decision on these over two million applicants, and many did not discover their admission decision, because of this fact, until after the Matriculation Deadline, which of course was extended to provide ample time for accepted students to reply. The UAS was composed of over 1,250 current and past faculty of Universitus to evaluate the prospective students. In order to gain admission, an application must have been met with 80% approval of the UAS. Students with a majority (50%+1) of approval were reevaluated at the conclusion of the cycle. In all, the UAS offered admission to 250,815 students, or 8.67% of those students who scored 100.0% on the Universitus Test. This number includes all students who were accepted upon reevaluation. Of those 250,815 accepted students, 249,226 replied with an acceptance of matriculation, giving Universitus a 99.37% yield.
The following is a breakdown of the six undergraduate departments of Universitus and their ultimate offers of admission:
Department, Applicants after the UT, Acceptances, %
Domz Department of Government and Politics, 501,001, 43,612, 8.70%
Kirlsten Department of the Natural Sciences, 931,441, 55,613, 5.97%
Bartsburg Department of the Social Sciences, 388,476, 39,882, 10.27%
West Department of Business, 340,772, 37,193, 10.91%
Aeri Department of Mathematics, 409,054, 40,177, 9.82%
Leef Department of Philosophy, 321,587, 34,338, 10.68%
Total: 2,892,331, 250,815, 8.67%
Concerning financial aid, approximately 22% of admitted students qualified for complete coverage of tuition and other associated fees. 55% who did not qualify for complete coverage did qualify for a range of benefits, though some students will need to pay the full approximate cost of a semester at Universitus: approximately $551,000. There have been several pushes by the Universitus Capital Campaign to raise the necessary extra $150 billion dollars it is expected to cost to bring Universitus total independence from tuition.
When the statistics are completed, Universitus' admission percentage for the 4185 cycle was 0.105%, or 250,815 acceptances from 236,829,951 formal applications.
We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the students who had dreams of attending Universitus but are unable: the admissions process has continued in its competitiveness and Universitus is unable to accommodate such a growing amount of interested students. We have undergone extensive dormitory additions to accommodate the 250,000 students we accept every six Jevian Years. We sincerely wish that students interested in attending the University look into Continuing Education programs at their local Universitus Satellite Campus and encourage them to look into our four postgraduate schools: The McCoy Graduate Department of Law, The Cox Graduate Department of Medicine, The Carrier Graduate Department of Business, and The Sert Graduate Department of the Liberal Arts. International students interested in a Universitus education should seek admission at their local Universitus International Campus (UIC) or petition their governance to consider applying for a UIC from Universitus.
We thank you for the continuing Jevian interest in Universitus University, and look forward to an academically outstanding Entry Class of 4185.
