July 8th, 20,006 AE

The blinds closed and the crowd gave a loud round of applause. Tobias Raynor was sitting in his box, softly clapping while talking to General Duke, who had joined him during the performance. Nearly all of the who's who of the ESF was here at the Florental Theater in Gladerial. Months ago, Tobias was approached by his good friend Kiso Night. The two had played football together for the national team, and Kiso had been just a small kid back then that Tobias decided to be his roommate. The two became friends, and Tobias turned into a sort of mentor for Kiso. So when the lad came asking for a favor, Tobias was not going to turn him down. The favor was to hold a huge birthday celebration for Kiso's younger sister, Ariel, who was turning 25. Not only was it an important birthday for the girl, but she had also been accepted into AC Valanari's Football Academy, the most prestegious in the country. As a result, Tobias had spent the last few months scouraging the world looking for the best of the best to perform for the young lady. His results were a band from Kura-Pelland, a ballet from Tanaara, and a celebrity football match to be followed afterwards.

With the band now finished, the ballet was being prepared, and Tobias figured he ought to get some work done since he had no real affection for the art. Yet when the curtains parted and the performance began, he was awed by the grace and skill of the performers. In addition, they were performing a breath-taking choreography. Once the masterpiece was completed, Tobias turned to the good General.
"Make sure I meet that choreographer. A person who can create such a work of art is definately a person of whom I would want to say I have had the benifit of meeting."

"As you wish Great Leader. I have to say, even I was captivated by it, and I don't even like any art bar music. I shall return shortly."
General Duke stood up, saluted his friend and leader, and proceeded to find the choreographer at Tobias' request. He only hoped that they would take kindly to the request.

Lady Oromë Rai’Lune Sinda’a’ merel Kelandara (http://www.atddm.com/Orome.jpg) smiled as the last of her troop whirleded off the stage after their second curtain call. "All of you were excellent, flawless and just as I saw it in my imagination" She congratulated them lavishly. They'd earned it, having worked their pretty pink toes off to dance the piece as it deserved to be danced.

Part of her - deeply hidden- was green with envy. Oromë wanted to be out there dancing, but that wasn't to be right now. She was lucky to be up and walking with careful, limited steps- and no little pain - given the horriffic accident she'd survived and the massive injuries to her legs. Her friends hadn't survived and the memories dimmed her warm smile for a long moment. Fortuantely none of her chattering flock noticed.

She smoothed her thick mane of straight ebon hair -it fell like a curtain of night down well past the small of her back - she could almost sit on it, but wouldn't think of cutting it.

"Oromë, there's a General Duke asking to meet you." Her laison officer, Ms Bea Potter, a plump matronly lady whose appearance hid a razor keen mind, came rushing up excitedly.

Oromë gave a laugh, "Well then we can't keep a General waiting now can we? Please escort him back to my dressing room in a moment. I'll head directly there" She keyed the silent float chair and whisked herself back to the large dressing room that had been set aside for her. She wasn't changing in and out of costumes but as the Choreographer and Corps de Ballet Manager of the touring company she used it as an office instead.

"Two curtain calls is good in a country like Valanora were sports are more the national past time" She reassured the tuxedo furred Aeofin Cat who awaited her 'and be nice to the man who'll be arriving shortly. He's a Valanoran general and used to courtesy I am certain.."

Flip, her Familiar, distained a verbal reply, indeed any reply at all - confining himself to just rolling his eyes and curling back up with his plush tail covering his nose. His irridescent black wings settled themselves with a flick of pinion feathers over his tuxedo patterned fur.

She gave herself a quick check. Her outfit looked far better with her standing, but then again every thing did. Nothing looked good on any one when they were confined to a float chair.

When the laison officer returned with the the news that he was to meet the choreographer in her dressing room, the short elf tipped his hat, revealing his highly unusual light blue hair. The plump woman, a Ms. Bea Potter he thought she said, lead Edmund past the stage and backstage where the performers were still talking amongst themselves. Past there, they passed two more rooms, took a left, and the lady pointed to a door that had a plaque with the words "Lady Oromë's Dressing Room" on it.
"Thank you very much for your assistance."
After thanking the officer, the general gave a gentle three taps on the door, and waited for permission to enter the room. He dared not risk walking in on the lady changing, it would create all sorts of trouble that he could very much do without.

Oromë spun the float chair about at the trio of knocks.

" Please do come in" She - her voice was a golden sprano, a little deeper than her slender build suggested -called as with a graceful gesture she reached out with a minor chantry and opened the door. It swung inward as she guided the float chair over so that it sat across the coffee table from the pair of club chairs on the other side.

She watched the short elf enter. Oromë was used to Tanaaran Sidhe who averaged close to six and a half feet tall. Though his light blue hair and emerald eyes were not unusual among the Sidhe that she knew..

"Good evening General Duke. I am Lady Oromë Kelandara, and I understand you wanted to meet with me, as I am the choregrapher. How may I be of assisstance to you?" She gave him a brilliant smile that lit the deep violet of her eyes as well.

As Duke entered the well furnished dressing room, he made note of a very peculiar looking animal. It looked very much like a cat, but it had wings and feathers that very much screamed quite the oppisite. However his gaze was quickly turned to the lady before him as she spoke, and he was amused by her violet eyes. He gave a hearty laugh and smiled as well before addressing the choreographer.

"Good evening Lady Oromë, it is a pleasure to make your aquaintance. I was very much entertained by the performance your company just put on for the young Night child, as was my Elune child, Tobias Raynor. As you may or may not be aware, Tobias is the Great Leader of the country, the head of state if you were. He was soo taken by your performance that he wishes to meet the mind behind the working if you would honor him."

The general gave a small bow as he spoke the last two words, and had a twinkle in his eye as he brought his eyes back to level with Oromë.

As you may or may not be aware, Tobias is the Great Leader of the country, the head of state if you were. He was soo taken by your performance that he wishes to meet the mind behind the working if you would honor him."

Oromë could not help herself, she burst out in peals of infectious laughter, and could not catch her breath to speak for nearly a minute. "Oh..Oh forgive me. I am aware that he is the ruler of this fair nation, but to burden him with such a title. I mean not insule but it does so sound like something they would have draped about Stalin" She mimed hefting an immensely heavy length of cloth and struggling to lift it over an imaginary pair of broad shoulders. "...I am certain that he is an indeed a great leader but oh to be burdened with such a title"

She found herself laughing again, and her eyes begged for understanding. Oromë was blushing furiously as well, but her self remonstrance couldn't over come her laughter.

Finally she managed to catch ahold of herself and and took a deep, calming breath. Hoping to redeem herself in the good General's eyes she cocked her head ever so slightly to one side and inquired "Elune child? I am afraid I am not familiar with that term."

"Well you see, the goddess Elune is our diety. Thus to have an Elune child it to be the equivalent of being that elf's special guardian. If anything was to ever happened to the elf's legal huardians, then you would be responcible for them. As it just so happened, Tobias' mother had a spat of madness and his grandfather had an attempt on his life that left him in a coma for several years."

The general then pulled a flask from inside his jacket and a small cermonial gold plated goblet.

"You don't mind do you?"

When Oromë gave a small nod, Edmund slowly poured the clear liquid into the goblet. As he took a sip of his Oure de Travei 1337, the best wine in the country, he let out a calm and relaxed sigh.

"My dear, you do have a point I'll concede that, but it is not without merit. Also, the Great Leader is more often referred to as either the Matriarch of Patriarch, depending upon the sex of the individual. Though I am sure we would have such a lovely debate about the appropiateness of the title, I was here to do one thing, and that was to see if you would join the good Tobias. And now my dear, I would very much appreciate an answer."

Oromë had wondered and worried to herself if she had upset the Gerneral to the point that he needed medication as she nodded. But the tang of fine wine reached her sensitive nose and she relaxed a bit...but then remembered that many a potent draught could be concealed in spirits, but hoped that was not the case.

"Yes, General Duke, it would be my pleasure and honor to meet Mister Raynor." She replied. As an old friend of the newly crowned Archon, Rex Tanaara,Robert Ryan Fortier - Hexx she knew just how constrained a ruler's time could be, and so she added "Is it convienent at this time or is he proposing a laterly scheduled meeting?"

When the General indicated that the Great Leader would prefer to meet her now, Oromë looked over at Flip and said "If you stuff yourself on smoked salmon you'll regret it later." And got ignored for her admonishment.

He'd call for a snack later...as soon as she left.

"Lead on General" Oromë smiled as she keyed the float chair towards the door.

The General once again tipped his hat for the Lady and opened the door for her. He might of been a seasoned veteran in the evils of warfare, but he also finely schooled in the art of politeness. His drill sergeant had always told the recruits that if they were to protect the country, they must also represent the country appropiately. No elf under his regime ever left boot camp without being a good soldier and a well mannered individual.

While the General was guiding Oromë to Tobias, the young leader was busy trying to make sure he looked appropiate and had something to discuss. With his lack of knowledge of ballet, he realized that it might of been a mistake to request a choerographer's presence. Yet he was sure that there was some common ground that the two could find and have a good conversation about.

When he heard the three knocks outside his door that was Duke's personal way of indicating he was at the door, he took a deep breath and opened the door to his suite.

Oromë swallowed just a little bit. For while she was old friends with Rob and now his wife Aeris, and most of their 'inner circle' she hadn't had many meetings with non- Fatal Terrain rulers. She hopped that she could think of something to talk about with him. Most people life didn't revolve aroudn dance and mine might now much longer. Oh why did my human half decide to manifest. Ballerinas aren't supposed to have cleavage. Oh wait..isn't the national sport..She brightened as she remembered the three paragraph breifing paper she's read...then sighed inside And I know nothing about it! We play American style football in Tanaara. Soccer is mostly a kid's sport...I think.

As the General gave three taps upon the door, she made sure she was smiling dispite her internal worries.

Tobias nearly did himself a poor service and let his eyes give away an awe, but composed himself quickly and brought himself to where he was holding the door open for Oromë to enter.

"Welcome to my suite oh master of the ballet. Be it that your performance was of such quality that I have decided that I must meet the mind behind the art. I am Tobias Raynor, Patriarch of the Commonwealth of Valanora, Great Leader of Elves Security Forces, the principal country of Valanora, and I bid you to come in and enjoy my company and I yours. However, please either call me Tobias or Toby, everyone else does."

How she managed to keep from laughing she was never sure afterwards, but she managed, though her eyes twinkled devilishly as he introduced himself. "Then certainly I must call you Master Raynor, for I refuse to be like every one else" She paused, pretending to consider and said slowly with mock reluctance "But for someone to compliment me so extravagantly...I think I must make exception" Her playful smile brought out her dimples as she directed the float chair into the room.

"Because you ask I'll call you Toby, especially to remind myself that not all Patriarchs are afflicted with long grey beards and dusty old robes"

"And please, just call me Oromë." The warmth and kindness in her expression letting him know she had been teasing with him and meant nothing disparaging at all.

Tobias had to choke on a bout of laughter. She certainly has flair and personality he thought to himself. As he guided her into the room, closing it behind her with the good General standing guard on the other side, he came back and took his seat.

"Very well, it shall be Oromë. It is a beautiful name if I may say so myself. Now tell me, what do you think of my country. Surely it must be one of the more unique ones your ballet has had the priviledge of gracing with its' precense no? What with the three level cities, the magnificence of Gladerial, and the culture is all to die for. I often lose myself when I think about how great of a country it is, and that is also why I do my best to keep it safe. What kind of leader would I be if I didn't?!" an overly excited Tobias exlaimed. His flushed cheeks showed his nervousness, and he could feel sweat begining to form on his brow. Yet he tried to hide it behind his little outburst and a wide smile as his guest formed her reply.

Now Oromë did laugh, but it was gentle laughter, meant for joining in with not for mocking. "Toby, you have a lovely country, and I am certain you are doing an excellent job of keeping it and your people safe..." She complimented him truthfully for Valanora was indeed a lovely country far better cared for than many. Why it was almost as perfect as Tanaara.

"But Toby you're babbeling..." And this was said with utmost kindness

"I'm not some fearsome creature who is going to eat you alive. Take a deep breath, a shot of vodka straight then take another deep breath to cool the fire of it's passage and tell me about you" Oromë said with honest interest and complete sincerity.

Tobias took in a deep breath, and slowly let it out. After repeating twice more, he felt his heart rate slow down and the heat from his cheeks slowly withdraw. Still off his normal self, he wiped the sweat from his brow with a napkin from the table beside him, and took another deep breath.

"I'm quite sorry about that. It's been quite awhile since I've dealt with someone who wasn't some noble or such and am quite out of touch when it comes to normal conversations. But if it is about me you inquire, then I'll be happy to oblige.

Well let's see, I like to take long walks, preferably in the park not far from the mansion. I'm quite the avid reader as well, with my favorite genre being the mystery novel. I used to be a professional footballer, quite a good one as well, though those days are years past now. My favorite food is penne noodles with a spicy tomato sauce with a fine wine and fresh bread. My favorite flower is the paintbrush, I do love the way it sways and how it can be found in a variety of colors, much like humans. My favorite color is rose, though green is also dear to my heart, while my favorite animal is the cheetah, though you wont find one in my country. Hrmm, I also have a passionate devotion with the ocean, but I can't swim, which makes for tricky trips to Rinaldi when I like to make my walks along those beaches. If you stay in the country for some time, I'd like to take you there if you wouldn't mind."

Pausing to collect his thoughts and breath, he was happy to see that Oromë was enjoying herself. The laughter and smiles were something he had not seen from a woman in nearly a thousand years, bar one fleeting moment over twenty years ago by a friend who had just been wed.

"I've also not had a real female prescence in my life. My mother raised me until I was but three and then rejoined a group of heroes in a quest to vanquish some evil. She would not return for years, claiming to been in another dimension. Shortly therafter she went into hiding, many thought she went insane, and was not seen from until just thirty years ago, when Rosemary Angelotic lead her rebellion. So since three, it's been mostly my late uncle Raynor, grandfather Zeratul, and Elune father of General Duke who have made the strongest presences in my life. As a result, I do have quite a decent amount of troubles dealing with women, mostly in trusting them. The only one who has never lead me wrong has been the High Priestess herself, but because of her station, that is expected.

And what of you oh lady of Tanara? What fate has Elune lead you on to bring yourself into her followers county in such a condition? What is your story?"

"Oh I too don't have mu8ch of a family left. Both of my parents were only children and they died almost ten years ago in the last days of the Dark War. They weren't combatants. They were, however, part of the Tanaaran USO, and they were being flown to entertain troops near the front when their plane was assaulted and shot down. I...I sometimes wish I had been with them" She looked away for a second then looked back at Toby as she continued "My grandparents were already very reclusive and that made them even more so. I haven't seen them since the funerals, and they won't give me permission to visit." She spoke matter of factly but it was easy to tell that she had been very close to her parents.

"You are much older than I, I'm only a hundred or so. I spent some time in the Shadow Realm so my age is a little off." She quirked a grin at that before turning the conversation back to him.

"I love to read myself. What's your favorite book?"

"Well I did just finish rereading the books of Elune, all three volumes!, but though I am quite the religious elf, I wouldn't say it was my favorite. I have to say that In the Darkness, a Voice Unknown by Lenwë Telrúnya has to be my favorite. I have a spare copy of it at my familys' mansion in Raynor City. "Why do you comment that you are an especially religious elf? Do you find that there is a special benefit to be especially religious?" Oromë asked curiously. She believed in being spiritual, not necessarily religious. But then again she had been raised in Tanaara for the greatest part and the vast majority of the population was agnostic. They tended to distrust formal religions as being the biggest part of the problem with religion.

"And tell me, if you would please what is the book about? I try to limit myself to one deeply pholosophical tome a year. I'd rather dance my pholosophy than trudge though it in book form" She grinned.

"Well, growing up in our society, and the religion that our country practices, it would make no sence not to be an active practicioner of religion. With the promise of a place in the Gray Havens and our immortality retored, to do otherwise would seem foolish in my humble opinion. But perhaps you do not know of Elunism. Hrmm.

As for the book, it's about a drow by the name of Tuor Nénharma, who had been cast out of his dwellings by the community. Thrust into a realm of uncertainity without so much as a weapon, it goes into the trials he faced, the friends and enemies he makes, and then concludes with a very difficult choice for him. Though it tends to read of an action filled novel, it has some very deep philosophical themes about the will of an individual and the misconceptions that society creates. It's a very good read if I may say so myself."

"Then I should love to borrow a copy." Her smiled flashed her dimples again, then she sobered and addressed his earlier comment.

"No I have never heard of Wlunism. My parents taught me to live my spiritual connection, rather than simply practise it. And as AI am only half elvin, immortality is not my fate, but by the Compact my reincarnation will see me back here."

"It's not available to full Sidhe, to pure blooded elves, as I understand it. As spirits corporal they lack a particular necessity - a soul." She looked at him tilting her head to one side slightly. "I don't know about your race of elves though. But when we, those of us who came to Earth, founded Tanaara and made the Compact, were given the ability to make sure Tanaara goes the way it's supposed to. We don't get to remember much of our previous lives, but enough." Oromë said seriously.

Tobias stroked his chin and tried to digest what he was just told. The idea that one could be reborn was not foriegn to him, the cloning that the country performed, with the near-perfect memory transfer, was remarkable and could be considered being reincarnated. Also with the evidence of Jas Hatire being remade by Elune during a turbalent time just a decade ago was proof enough from him. But to be completely reborn with memories, albiet few, of a past life in a new, that was quite the complex idea.

"I see. I have to admit, it's quite an abstract thought for me, and does get my mind working a little to wrap around the idea, but I understand. As for the pure-blood elves, that which race makes up the majority of my country's population, not having souls, I would disagree. It was through their eating of the forbidden fruit off the White Tree that gave our decendents souls, bar Elune who became a goddess because of her virtue, and also how we lost our immortality. The fact that Elune collects the souls of our heroes to empower her, and then can use those souls and have the heroes be remade into the living realm when needed is also proof.

But with all the variations of life, perhaps we are speaking of different types of elves. We already see variations through pure-blood and half-bloods, light and dark, etc... Also, you speak of coming to this world from another. There is a key, for as far as I know and our records show, those seven original elves were of this world when they began our country. Trully, it is impeccable what differences exist."

Trully, it is impeccable what differences exist."

"Yes it is" Oromë smiled up at him her eyes aglow "But please remember I said that the elves of Tanaara were Spirits encsonsed - like the messengers of the Divine - Angels as some call them. So instead of being or needing souls they are already linked to the Divine by their very essence. I know I'm probably fouling it up horribly. I've never been very theological." She shrugged helplessly.

"We didn't even originally come from this universe" She added.

"Oh, well a pitch is the field on which the game takes place. As for it being makeshift, it's because we were unable to get the EPL to move the fixture between Gladerial and Raynor City so we could use the The White Fortress stadium. As a result, I had to get some contractors to build a small little stadium in the field across the street. General Duke and a small guard of Dark Bows escorted the Great Leader out of the magnificent theater. Already, most of the crowd that had been in the theater for the ballet and musical performance had mad it over to the stadium. By his estimation, Tobias suspeted that the 10,000 seat stadium was over half filled. By the time the two had reached the seats, which happened to be at midfield seven rows up on the east side, the match was set to begin. As the ref watched his watch to start the match, Tobias began to explain the game to his guest.

Oromë looked about the stadium, noticing that it was over half full. Her steps from the float chair to the seat beside Toby's were slow and careful. She worked hard to hide the pain that accompanied each step, and made sure her smile wsa gay and carefree. She didn't realize that it showed in her eyes though.

Leaning over slightly so she could more easily hear his commentary and insiders knowledge she listened carefully to him. He was patient with her questions and the game was interesting; though she doubted she'd ever become a raging fan of it. She found though that she quite enjoyed listening to him, being around him and the time passed far faster than she had anticipated.

When it ended Oromë gave him an appreciative smile 'I think that I will not embarrase myself in the future thanks to you, Toby. In return, can I offer you a very late snack? I think the hotel the troupe is staying at has a late night supper club."

Tobias was glad Oromë had asked him to come with her to the hotel for a snack. He would never admit it to anyone, but he was having a very good time with the woman and did not want it to end by any means.

"I would be honored to join you. To tell the truth, I'm rather hungry and could go a nice snack. I thought I had had the chefs prepare enough food, but I didn't expect everyone that was invited to show up." he let out a soft chuckle. In fact, he had only expect about half, three-quarters at most of the invitees to show up. Yet it seemed that the Nights now were begining to have power in the social circles similar to that of the powerful ruling families.

"Now, would you like to continue on foot, or should I get my vehicle?"

She laughed lightly at his comment about the vast tables of fingerfoods going empty in no time flat. "You have excellent chefs, and I think the speed at which their offering disappeared can be taken as a compliment!."

"Now, would you like to continue on foot, or should I get my vehicle?"

"The hotel's not close and my float chair is not fast, so I think your vehicle would be best." She was glad that he had apparently not noticed how painful it was for her to walk the few steps from the hightech wheel chair to their seats. The therapists said that would end as the healing progressed, and in truth it was far less than it had been just a week ago. But she was impatient to be up and moving on her own again. To be able to dance again. She wondered what it would be like to dance with Toby.

"Well follow me please."

Tobias slowly lead Oromë back through the congested stadium, and past the theater to where a handful of cars where parked along the road. In truth, not many people inside the ESF owned vehicles, and those that did used them quite sparingly. In fact, recent legisilation made it so that only a handful of the population was legally allowed to own automobiles, as the Senate stressed a clean enviroment. However, that did not stop Tobias from making sure he had one of the classiest cars availble. It was a recent model out of Assegai and it drove perfectly. The company had decided to call it the Bornra, but Tobias had named his car the Ireth (http://www.bornrich.org/images/r_coolest_cars_of_2005.jpg). Pointing out the sophisticated vehicle to his guest, Tobias went and opened the door for Oromë.

"Ladies first Oromë."

"Ladies first Oromë."

Oromë looked over the sleek car with appreication. Tanaarans loved fine cars - why they werw the second biggest car nuts in the entire Fatal Terrain region. Only Imitora was more car crazy than the Tanaarans.

Quickly keying the float chir to fold up in to its small suitcase sized travel pack she slid into the passengers seat. "It's beautiful Toby. How does it drive?" She asked as she took in the carefully crafted interior.

"I'd be doing her a disservice if I said anything besides like a dream. I've not driven many cars in my long years, but for those I have, they don't compare in the slightest to Ireth." he cooly said as he made his way around the vehicle and into the driver's seat. After buckling in and checking his mirrors, he fired up the engine, with the sleek beast roaring to life. The light burst on and the radio began playing "Eternal Paradise" by the Fury Seekers, a decent sounding catchy tune by the new band.

Throwing the car into reverse, Tobias brought the car out of the lot and began to slowly navigate the road. With most people either walking or biking their way to their destinations, traffic was pratically non-existant. As the stopped at the red light, Tobias motioned to Oromë's right. There stood a huge white tree, that a magnificent musuem built around it's base. Tons of elves were lined around the building, waiting for the guards to let them in.

"You see, with the tree being such a historical significant location for our race, it was decided that only a certain number of people would be allowed inside the musuem at any given time. This is to make sure that both the tree itself is safe from any danger, and to give the patrons a suitable enviroment for paying homage."

As the light turned green again, Tobias continued along the road. Shortly therafter, the duo arrived at the hotel Oromë had said her company was staying at. Being the curteous gentlemen, Tobias once again went and opened the door for the woman, smiling all the while.

"Now Oromë, if you would so kindly lead us in, I'd like to take you up on that offer of a snack." A small growl from the Great Leaders' belly confirmed Tovias was indeed hungry, and flushed his cheeks as well.

Oromë laughted softly, for her stomach was growling too. "I think we both need more than just a snack " She siad as the door man opened the hotels double doors for them and they proceeded into the spacious lobby.

Minutes later they were seated by a crackling fire and perusing the menu.

"Oh their Crab Bisque looks delicious. I'll have that with hot rolls and some mild cheese" She told the attentive waiter.

"What about you Toby?"

Tobias surveyed the menu, and was at a loss of words. Their were soo many fine meals that the service could provide them, and they all looked soo appealing to his hungry belly. However, when he came upon the pastas, he knew he had to have the chef's special.

"It seems that the chef is a man after my own heart. His special on pastas is the simple, yet classy dish of penne noodles topped with a spicy marinara sauce, served with a loaf of garlic bread. It's perfect in all ways imaginable."

"Mmmmm That does sound delicious. I may have to steal a bite of yours." Oromë teased as the waiter asked if they wanted wine.

"Toby I'd like some white wine. What would you recommend?" The list was extensive but none of them were from vintners that she recognised."

The dining room was all but empty at this late hour and she was glad of the privacy and quiet.

"Haha! If you so desire a taste, then a taste you shall have!"

At the mention of the desire for wine, Tobias skimmed the lists of wines and qquickly was relieved to see that the hotel had the finest wine the country could offer in either white or red.

"Well my dear, if we're going for quality, then you can not go wrong with Oure de Travei. Magnificent is the wine from Travesian, enough to wash even the darkest of troubles away. I'm not sure what they do there in the Travei vineyards to make it so special, but the product is worth whatever pricetag that is placed upon it."

With the lighting set to dim and the fireplace offer just a flickers of light here and there, it was a very sensual mood that was set. As the shadows danced around the room, a very content and happy smile could be seen across Tobias face. For the first time in a long time, it could be said that the Great Leader was trully enjoying himself.

"Toby...I think we've talked all night...or someones just lit off a very large light spell." Oromë joshed as she glanced over and blinked, half astonished. No it was definitely a sun rise peaking in through the curtains of the restraunt. And there were three dead soldiers, the enoty green glass bottles subtly catching those first rays. An an empty carafe of coffee. Now when did we ..oh yes

The coffee and a luscious slice of cheesecake that they'd shared. Oromë adored a well done cheesecke, but this one she didn't remember a bite of. She and Toby had been too busy talking, sharing their thoughts with one another.

She'd even told him how worried she was about 'developing' too much to be considered as 'acceptable' in classical ballet. Even if the explaination she'd given sounded so lame - but it wasn't. She'd been dancing with her 'old' body for decades- and this one moved different, the ballance points were different. And when you had barely an A cup the male dancers had no problem slapping a hand on one's torso to do a lift. Now they were afraid they'd catch something sensitive - like a lawsuit. Not that that would fly in Tanaara, but...still. She been dancing before she could walk and it might be irrational but she was afraid now.

And he'd understood!

And it had been utterly fascinating to see how even more constrained his life was than hers. Dance was a tryant, but being a ruler? She had to admire the fortitude it took, and his obvious devotion to his people. Having to carry the weight of titles like 'Great Leader' and 'Patriarch'... those still made her want to giggle. She wondered if he'd ever had a real, truly get away from it all vacation.

Tobias couldn't believe that he had spent the entire night there in the resturaunt with Oromë. Despite being a complete stranger, he felt completely at ease around her, his mind was calm when it normally was racing on what to do, and he could proudly say he was relaxed.

"Well as that's the case, please excuse me for a moment."

Getting up and leaving the table, he strode over towards the window and pulled out his cell phone. Dialing one of the many aides already busy at work in the Government Center building in the heart of Raynor City.

"Hello, this is Tobias.... Please cancel all my appointments for the day, I'll be taking a personal day... Yes, I'm aware that he was wanting to get ahold of me, but it will have to wait. If needed, then have the Senate Leader meet with him... Thank you."

Taking his seat across from Oromë, Tobias motioned for the the lone waitor that was cleaning off the bar to come over.
"Now that I don't have any obligations for the day, why don't we enjoy some breakfast. And if you're feeling up to it, I'd like to take you down to Rinaldi and ride the ferry to Capri."

"Now that sounds marvelous" Oromë's eyes sparkled delightedly as she pulled her own slim cell phone out of her equally tiny clutch purse. "Now you'll have to excuse me. I need to give the troupe a day off since we don't have a performance tonight any way. They will enjoy a day of no rehearsal."

She made the call quickly to the troupes 'mother' and the older woman was delighted to pass along the 'present'. "And you have a good time dear."

"Oh I will" Oromë replied with a laugh as she hung up.

"Thewre all set for freedom." Oromë looked over at the waiter and ordered half a grapefruit, lots of bacon and toast.

"Should we have them pack a picnick basket, or should we forage along down there?" She asked with a smile.

"A picnic sounds delightful." turning to the waitor "Well you heard the lady, prepare us a picnic basket please. Oh, and I'll have grapes, an orange, and a piece of sausage please."

Pulling out his trusty map (http://www.btinternet.com/~david.boston/_bostopia/esfmapsuburbs.pdf), Tobias pointed out how far Rinaldi was from Gladerial. But he chipped in that they would be taking the Great Leader's personal X3* to get to the port city. Then a quick drive down to the actual port, where they would take the ferry to the beautiful island of Capri. Once there, he planned on taking her to the majestic gardens in Kareen, before spending the rest of the day walking along the beaches of the city before taking the ferry back to Rinaldi and the Great Leader flying her back to be with her company. Though they had a tight schedule to keep if they were to get everything done on time, Tobias knew that they would both quite enjoy the trip.

OCC: The X3, UF-X3, where UF stands for Universal Flight, is the standard fighter craft of the Valanora air force/star fleet. In the typical design, it seat one person and can exceed speeds of 780 mph inside the atmosphere. It is designed so that it can be outfitted with a variety of weaponry from torpodoes, proton toropoes, smart bombs, etc... to be the perfect craft for any situation. Tobias' X3 is modified so that it can seat two people, and is geared more towards personal flight than wartime readiness.

" you're going to fly us down on a fighter jet!?" Oromë went wide eyed at his explaination of flying dow in his X3 "I've never flown in a fighter plane... this will be something to remember!" she exclaimed as the waiter brought out their breakfasts and refilled the carafe of coffee.

"I think I had better change clothes then, but that will only take a minute" Oromë reassured Toby.

Which reminded Toby that he was still in Gala clothing himself.

After the duo had enjoyed a modest breakfast and performed the neccasary change of clothes and hygiene routines, Tobias escorted Oromë to three lots away where his X3 was being held. It happened to be nestled next to a library where the guests at the hotel would frequent for a nice read in a calm atmosphere. The waitor whom had been serving them had appearntly taken the liberity of having their picnic basket deliverred to his aircraft. Although a tad apprehensive, Tobias was able to get Oromë safely strapped into her seat along with the picnic basket, and offered her some gum for the pressure. After doing a quick check of all the systems, the young elf fired up the craft, and they began their flight towards the ocean city.

It was a very calm and peaceful ride through the skies of the ESF. Tobias had flown this route a thousand times, and he was soo comfortable with it, he was able to alert Oromë to any time they passed over something worth taking a look at. The best part of the trip was when the flew over Raynor City herself, looking down at the brustling city with people going to and fro. It was amazing that a civilization could be so technologically advanced, and yet looking at the city, there still soo many of the original trees and vegitation still growing. He chalked it up to the race' innate connection with nature, that they were able to live with her and use her gifts without causing substaintial harm.

Finally they arrived at Captain Nénharma's house. The good captain was a friend of Duke, and by extension, Tobias. He had offered the Great Leader hospitality anytime he showed up in Rinaldi, and had agreed to drop the two off at the ferry on his way to the naval base.

"Trust me, you're going to enjoy this." Tobias told his priestieged guest as they began the short fifteen minute drive to Ferry location.

Oromë was entranced with the flight and enjoyed it far more than she had though possible, given that at first she had been very quietly apprehensive about flying in a fighter. But Toby haed quickly proved to be an excellent pilot and her fears werew completely alieviated. He also proved to be an excellent tour guide, pointing out all sorts of facsining sights.

"Trust me, you're going to enjoy this."

Captain Nénharma had proved to be very hositable and the drive was though as lovely a city as she had seen from her birds eye view on the flight down

"I am certain I am." Oromë replied happily. She wasn't tired abit, but eager to spend more time with Toby. "So tell me, what shall we see at Capri?

With an almost day-dream look on his face, Tobias happily replied, "Well first, I thought we might go to the Hatire Memorial. Though many foriegners only know it as the national team stadium, there is in fact a museum dedicated to the Hatire family in front of the stadium. Afterwards, I assumed we would head down to the east beach and have our picnic as the waves crash along the shore. Once we're through, I want to take you to the beautiful gardens in Kareen. Then, time permitting, stop at the Snapicilious Pizza Parlour, before heading back to Rinaldi on the ferry and making our way back to Gladerial."

"And let me guess the Hatire family...produced many soccer champions?" Oromë took a guess her eyes twinkling.. "And yes a picnic on the beach sounds divine."

It all sounded wonderful, an absolutely perfect day. And the weather looked to be cooperating, the sun shone down warm gentleness,, the sky was a cloud dotted perfect robins egg blue and just the gentlest of breezes. She was glad she had worn a lightweight cotton dress, in a long Grecian style that hid her legs. He hadn't questioned her near total confinement to the float chair, and she was glad he was ignoring it.

"Ah ha! You would be wrong my dear. The Hatire family were soldiers of the old times, back when the nation was not a nation, but a mere collection of clans vying for power. Though, the most famous of them all was Jas Hatire. His story is the stuff of legend, and his death ever the more tragic. You'll learn all about it at the museum though!" Tobias enthusiasm was clearly showing. He wore a huge smile and his eyes were huge and filled with excitement. He swore to himself today he would not be Tobias, Great Leader of Valanora, but merely Tobias Raynor, a young elf taking a guest out on the tour of the country's famous tourist spot. Maybe even fall into a crush if Elune were to be so kind.

Oromë threw back her head and laughed "Well you have to admit, having a museum at a sports stadium rather predisposes one to think that it might be a sports themed museum. And I'll love learning more about Valnora's history Toby."

The ferry ride was fun, the iodine scented breeze from the ocean, the call of the gulls as they floated on the breeze overhead and dove for fish...and spending time just talking with Toby, as he pointed out the sights they would visit as the ferry skimmed every closer to the island.

A very content sigh made way from Tobias. He wasn't sure how they managed it, but they did everything that he had set out to do that day. The weather was just perfect, and the duo had ran into a few of the Valanora National Team players at the pizza parlour. For the first time in over a decade, the thoughts and concerns of ruling a nation were not on the mind of the boy. He was more concerned about having fun and enjoying the company of a facinating woman. However on the ride home, the enthusiasm that had been with him the last two days began to fade. He realized that Oromë and her company would soon be leaving Valanora's shores, and he might not ever see the choreographer again. When they arrived back in Gladerial, Tobias took Oromë by the hand.

"Oromë, these last two days have been some of the best days that I've had in quite a long time. From the beautiful performance your company put on display for the young Night girl, to the walk on the beach at Capri. For the first time in a very long time, I was allowed to divulge in my happiness and not have the heavy burdens of a nation weighing down on my shoulders. I have thoroughly enjoyed our conversations, and I find you to be one of the most intruiging people that I have ever had the privilege of meeting.

Now I know you and your company are soon to depart from Valanora. I must admit now, that the thought deeply saddens me. It has been but two extraordinary days, but I feel as if I have known you a lifetime. What I'm trying to say is, I would very much love for you to stay here in Valanora, as my guest and maybe more. I do not know what the future holds, but I would like to take a chance on hope, the hope that this friendship we've kindled might be more. I know this is alot to take in, but it would give my heart great joy if you were to accept and stay here with me."

Despite blushed cheeks and a few tears rolling down the sides of his face, there was the faintest of smiles upon Tobias' face, holding out a hope that this was not all but a simple dream of dreams.

Oromë looked at him and very slowly went on her tiptoes, shakily and painfully, but what she felt was more than worth it. Gently she kissed him on the cheek.

"I'd love to Toby, and I will. In six weeks when the tour is finsihed. Others have paid, up front, for our troope to visit their nations - and it's not just the money, for I am not poor by wany means. How every we have contracts and given our word."

She looked at him searchingly hoping he would understand. "I Will be back. And besides this will give me time to find an estate here, and get everything back in Tanaara packed up and shipped. And all my medical history sent over. I'm sitll undergoing a lot of physical therapy."

A half smile was all the Great Leader could muster. However he took the hand that he was holding, kneeled and kissed it and stood back up.

"Then I shall pray to Elune to make these six weeks pass as if they were a second. I understand all about vows, and I would not want to be the cause of you to break yours. Let the wind carry my whispers to wherever who shall call home in these weeks."

Taking a bow after he escorted her into the hotel, he turned and slowly made his way out.

"Until we meet again oh master of the dance. Let Elune shine her light upon you and guide you in every path you take. I shall play the role of a dedicated leader a little longer, and Valanora shall be waiting for you to return her graces. Fara thal sharan Oromë Rai’Lune Sinda’a’ merel Kelandara."
