OOC: I have decided to revive On The Issues because of its previous popularity as an on-going roleplay. OTI is a panel-commentary news program set in Rotovia, that focuses on international news (it is assumed that the show enjoys significant overseas syndication). News will be drawn from stories in the top pages of II and NS, and nations involved will be invited to nominate guest panelists (a link will be provided to the thread covered). OTN has previously proven a great tool to expand the depth of roleplaying, as well as promote roleplays featured.

Californian Commonwealth: Assassination of Socialist Leaders

Newsticker: "A number of prominent socialist leaders have been assassinated in the Californian Commonwealth... Californian Commonwealth government declares Socialist Party illegal... intelligence source claims '[the assassinations] are the work the Socialists'..."

Arthington: "What we have here is yet another case of a government silencing political opposition with violence, then using that very same violence as a cover to further curtail civil liberties..."

Wright: "Oh please, Pete. Is there any action, of an government which you believe to not be the work of a vast fascist conspiracy? I would refer you to the statement made by Alicia Winters which state unequivocally that there is a connection between these socialist radicals and the deaths of their leader"

Arthington: "Are we to take the word of every government spin doctor as Gospel now?"

Wright: "Mr Arthington, I was not aware you had converted?"

Arthington: "[laughs] there's about as much chance of that happening as your party taking back the Senate, I'd estimate. Seriously though, if our government doesn't put pressure on the Californians to hold a transparent and just investigation to determine the truth about these political killings, our reputation as an enforcer of democracy is ruins"

Hours: "Let's be honest, our reputation was in ruins from the moment we couldn't break the Dumpsterstan fleet."
