Welcome to Nation States Second Gay Pride Parade. Sponcerd by The Royaume of Querinos.

Well this thread is in honor of last year's First Ever NS Pride Parade/ March. This thread is for all those LGBT, LGBT-friendly, and well-wishing nations to post support, hellos, raise awareness of the LGBT populus of NS, and most importantly to have FUN.

So please help make this an annual thing by joining the march, enjoying the parade, sending a float, and posting galore.

I will, hopefully, keep this thread up untill Wednesday April, 9th, 2008.

"The idea behind Pride is celebration - celebrating the accomplishments that have been made by the LBGT community in our fight for equality. Celebrating the chance to be out and open in a society that often demands our silence and invisibility. Celebrating the creation of a community which hid in basements and bars and back-rooms thirty years ago, but which today has the power to come out in force to take over public roads and streets.

In fact, Gay Pride Parades were born on June 28, 1970, as a one-year anniversary, celebration, and commemoration of the Stonewall Riots - seen by many as the galvanizing point in U.S. LBGT history for our fight for equality.

It's not an issue of being "special", it's an issue of defying the demand that LBGT must be invisible and silenced. For at least one day out of the year, we can feel like the norm is to be out of the closet, and enjoy the company of so many people who might normally feel like they need to hide their sexuality - something that straight people are allowed to flaunt throughout the year." Merric

With no further ado:
A bright sunny day rises over Iridapolis' main street. All the elements of spring can be seen, heard, and smelled. A brisk breeze carries a hint of national excitement for the parade to begin. The Royal family ready themselves for the event, and crowds begin to gather with much anticipation for who's float would be first down the road.
Xocotl Constellation

A small delegation from the Xocotl Constellation readied their float.
"Are we sure hovercrafts count as floats?" Spung from the machanic underneath the craft making last minute adjustments.
"They float don't they." The delegation leader rhetoricaly huffed.
A mummered mockery came from beneath the 'float.'
---Minutes Later---
"Right, looks like were going to be first out the gates people. Lets put on a good show. Scratch that; lets give them GREAT Sights, Sounds, and Memories!" the humm of the float nearly drowned out the annocement. "Lets remember that we're representing the whole of the Xocotl Constellation, so, get those spirits up and dance on!... Oh and don't forget your hellos, thankyous, p's and q's." With that the floatcraft moved forward. The cool breeze and warm light delighted the crew/ delegates; the atmosphere was in such harmony with the aura of the event.Past the gate the shadows receded unvailing a bright blue metalic float. Music plused out of the hovercraft covering the moderate humm. Humanoid shapes motioned rhythmicaly to the music, and holographic rainbows arched over the float horizontally and vertically.

The lesbians from the 'NKS Empress Midori' were putting the finishing touches to their anti-grav float.

These Neo-Kirisubans were in Earth's orbit since their starship and although tied to one planet they still had a mission of exploration and cultural exchanges to carry out.

This parade was an extension of that mission and they has settled for a simple theme. Life on Neo Kirisubo.

The float was red with a large video screen which showed a slide show of pictures of life in this female dominated culture. Women did everything on their worlds.

The six women were wearing their red kimonos with a gold obi and looking traditional as traditional N-K music played in their language. Similar to Japanese it had the same script.

One 'drove' the float while others danced to it. The music would change to N-K pop later on but a traditional dance would be a good start the parade began. They were all 18 years old, pretty and proud to represent their nation in this way.

The citizens of Cocoa Puffy just love a parade! We don't have a float or anything, we just came to watch and see if you needed judges. Do you? We would just be tickled pink if we could decide on best costumes, best marching band, best dance troop, tackiest float, etc.

We also have a contingency of Dale Evans look-a-likes who will patrol the sidelines on their buckskin horses to provide some measure of crowd control by lassoing anyone who looks like they might be planning on mischief!

If you don't need judges or crowd control, that's okay. We will cheer and clap and hoot and boo and have a grand old time!

Our country's motto is "love the one you are with" and we try to live up to our motto whenever possible! We love all our brothers and sisters, no matter who they love!

Oh, yes, do you have a parade marshall yet? If not, our neighboring country, Ekim Yelworc, would love to provide one!

I love a parade,the tramping of feet,
I love every beat I hear of a drum.
I love a parade, when I hear a band
I just want to stand and cheer as they come.
That rat-a tat-tat, the blare of a horn.
That rat-a tat-tat, a bright uniform;
The sight of a drill will give me a thrill,
I thrill at the skill of everything military.
I love a parade, a handful of vets,
A line of cadets or any brigade,
For I love a parade!

I have been volunteered without my knowing, ignore anything Cocoa Puffy says. She is a bit insane.

I am afraid I can not provide a marshall.
Daistallia 2104

A rather large Daistallian group-family of about fifteen, that happened to be vacationing in Iridapolis, makes their way through the crowds.

"Hans! Slow down!" Jan said to his husband. "The children can't keep up."

Kae, trying to keep ahold of the hands of both her husband Jan and their son Airik, barked an agreement.

"I just want to get a good spot." said Hans, stopping to wait for his two husbands, three wives, and the assorted children to catch up.

"The parade's about to start, and I want the children to be able to see that not everyone has it as easy as they do."

Airik looked up at his parents. "Daddy, what'd that man mean about 'invisible and silenced' in his speech?"

"Son, there are still places that aren't like back home. In some places, your Daddy and I would be arrested and put in jail, or even killed for who we are."

OOC: I must have missed this last year. I like.

By this point the parade had moved onto the place where the larger crowds were gathered.

The music had also changed to N-K trance and the kimono wearing crew members were grooving to the hypnotic music and getting dangerously close to each other. Just as they would do if dancing back home.

Except for the young woman driving who had to keep her mind on the job.

OOC: Big smile, guys and gals. To be honest I was kind of worried the thread would fail, to see it survive warms my heart. And I decided to let it go on past Monday (partly because I'll be out of town) so everyone can have a chance to post something (hopefully positive).

Even more OOC: In response to Daistallia; Querinos is a ''weird'' place (too). Their laws and traditions allows for "trigamy." The Roi himself has two(2) 'husbands.' It gets weirder, but its too much for this thread. I'll put in my factbook... when I write one.

IC:
The Royal Family sat off and above the street watching the parade with great joy. Then Roi Hephaestion and Baron Adrain's youngest son Albrecht leaned over trying to ask a question politely as he could. But all efforts to get an answer fell on mute ears as noise from the crowds and music faded his little voice. Out of frustration Albrecht oozed out of his chair and sprung up several chairs down; tapping on his father's shoulder began to ask "When is it going to be our turn, Babu?"
Courteously Roi Hephaestion turned his head "Well.., Lil' wonder, customarily hosts go last, but don't worry. We'll give them something grand and worthy to speak about for years to come. Just go back to your chair and be patient." He ended with a twinkling smile.
With that Albrecht jerked his head and ran back to his seat... waiting patiently.
