Anarcho-Primitivism is the best form of government!

Apoclypsia
18-03-2008, 01:40
Apoclypsia is the first nation to follow the principles of Anarcho-Primitivism. Most of our land has been returned to nature and we have destroyed all weapons such as guns and restricted the use of metal to only our security servce, The Copper Warrior Society.

All technology, except biomedical and related fields, have been banned from Apoclypsia. All factories have been turned off and dismantled, so we no longer are poisoned by pollution.

We have restored freedom to the People, and we no longer force them to obey anything but a common Law, which is fair and maximizes personal liberty.

Our People know how to survive and our society is based on fami9lies, clans and tribes. We no longer try to force our People to live together if they do not wish to and we allow them to follow their religious customs and cultural customs.

In short, we have removed the tyrrany of the government from the People's everyday lives and the endless red tape that so many other nations have. We don't have guns for maniacs to mow people down with nor do we have ghettohs or much of a class system. People live as they see fit, either as farmers or hunter-gathers.

Nor do we oppress our Native population. We allow them to live by their ways and only ask that they obey the Law. The Law is for the PROTECTION of the weak, not to promnote the greed of the strong.

I wanted to run my state in the principles of Anarcho-Individualism or Anarcho-Primitivism but I haven't managed it yet (it's my first day though). I think your society is great. I'll go for an alliance :)

Cool. Sounds good. I'll make a thread for it, ok?

As the Indian Soviet Commonwealth of Beddgelert prepares to raise with its international comrades The Calcutta Communist Contract Organisation (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=551988), Soviet citizens wonder at the continued sprouting of such oddly counter-productive fringe societies such as the Anarcho Primitivists. Chief amongst questions put by one comrade to another, typically without satisfactory answer, "They do know that this biosphere has a finite lifespan regardless of how little harm we do it, don't they?" as forward-thinking Igovians imagine a future in which their descendants are compelled by their humanity to build extra seats aboard fantastical spacefaring vessels for primitivist refugees, or manufacture some means of preserving the planet, its essential and slowly departing moon, and its sun, "with bugger-all help from these useless cavemen" as comrade General Indomartus puts it.

Typically less hostile are the Soviet adventure tourists who are resolved to visit such oddball lands as Apoclypsia in hopes of finding out what drives this bucking of human nature, and how those inclined to strive for more are kept from upsetting their society. The Ahmedabad Academy of Social Sciences is foremost amongst those Soviet insititutions sponsoring expeditions to Apoclypsia, and the curious tourists hope that they will not be rejected or threatened in their attempted visits.

We would glady welcome you. I can not speak for all the various Clans and particularly Tribes of Apoclypsia, however, if you were to dock in the city of Seattle, I would gladly have the Washingten Detachment of the Copper Warrior Society escort you wherever you would wish to go.

Again, however, please do not bring guns and it would be better if you did not bring any metal weapons. First, because it is against the Holy Law of Apoclypsia and secondly, because it might inspire a Tribe, or more likely a Clan of a Tribe to attempt to attack you to loot you for such things.

However, feel free to bring barter items, or if you choose gold, silver or gems. Gold, silver and gems are accepted all over Apoclypsia in exchange for goods and services.

Since we do not have any mechanized vehicles here, I have instructed the Washingten Detachment of the Copper Warrior Society to provide you mounts. The Copper Warrior Society are our national security force, and totally loyal to the Presahdint.

Also, if you desire you may stay in Seattle to discuss with our Shamans scientific issues pertaining to biomedical science and genetic engineering and recombiant D.N.A engineering.
Third Spanish States

In the Confederacy, there are those who, of volunteer personal choice, decided to live in the natural environment of the Bacconi woods and refused to accept the urban, industrial lifestyle of the rest of the Confederacy. Anarcho-primitivists were only of many different anarchist beliefs which composed the Confederacy roster of highly libertarian ideals, for nobody was coerced to follow an economic or social organization and people were free to establish their own social organizations among them, their own communes embracing different faces of the shared ideals they stood for.

Pollution is heavily frowned upon, even in cities, and a very strong belief of responsibility with the environment, coupled with a few elements of what would compose a green economy ensure that even the most urbanized megalopolises like Tucker and Nueva Madrid have pollution levels comparable, or at least inferior to those of small, agrarian towns in conventional capitalist economies. The Arcology, a portmanteau of architecture and ecology which is used to describe the majestic, ecologically friendly structures which compose the cityscape of all major cities and the offered alternative to traditional urban growth models, allows a large concentration of humans to provoke a much inferior quantity of pollution compared to traditional urbanization. However the major staple of balance between progress and environment is Ciudad Gaia, also called Gaia City. A fully ecological city with zero pollution levels which operates under a full-fledged, eco-socialist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eco-socialism) economy with collective ownership of the capital among everybody, from each according to their capabilities to each according to their necessities and beyond. It is inhabited by some less radical green anarchists who believe it is possible to conciliate technology with the environment, for their own city would be impossible without major developments over engineering and ecology research, and mankind could not move backwards and become forever living as primitives, it was as anachronistic as an absolute monarchy in the 21st century as an anarchist equivalent of the Amish, no matter how healthy it was to have a simpler life... but due to voluntary choice significant regions of Third Spanish States had people living a simple, primitive but fruitful life, no cold-hearted by the technology which sometimes seemed to increased instead of decreasing the distances between people. Gaia City was also a haven of ultra-libertarianism... nudism was commonplace and sometimes the line which divided the city from the forest surrounding it wasn't clear, for it was built and grew with the forest, not against the forest and people had woods in their gardens, paved dirt streets kept busy by hydrogen pickups while mass transit systems, including an impressive monorail which connected the entire 600 thousands of inhabitants spread over the city, were even busier above the streets. Recycling was a must and there were no landfills or incinerators visible anywhere, it was a perfectly ecological metropolis.

The discovery of the existence of a full-fledged anarcho-primitivist nation was something which made every citizen glad, for they stood for freedom, and if an human society was healthy and voluntarily build as a retake on a past without problems like stress, it was something which would be lauded for its idealism and conviction, an alternate path of many of the eternal paths followed towards the never achievable utopia. It was no wonder that soon a Third Spanish States citizen would interest in visiting that place in the world, larger version of the anarcho-primitivist communities existing in the Confederacy. For they understood their refusal to bear arms, but the Confederacy was not so idealist, for they saw many lands of freedom being stomped by the forces of fascism, tyranny and oppression, and they feared that, a nation which people had no way to defend itself would be a potential target of the imperialist scum they have continually build up in arms to back off its greedy eyes from their nation. For unlike Apoclypsia, Third Spanish States was a nation famous and infamous for the amount of firearms civilians typically carried around, for the fact it was not established through peace, but after a bloody revolution and civil war where both the hammer, the sickle, the book and the rifle were essential for their ultimate victory. Fighters filled military bases and their own tools created for defending their revolutionary achievement through violence, if necessary, were commonplace. Max Olson, an inhabitant of Gaia City, took a commercial hydroplane to fly to Apoclypsia, for he was going to propose them a defense accord, to ensure their freedom shall be protected against the forces of oppression, and hopefully, should he find the Beddgelert people there, with potentially representative powers of their nation, establish a military alliance to protect pacifist, idealistic nations which would be easy prey for the imperialist scum otherwise.

He wore a simple Hawaiian T-shirt, a green shorts and brown sandals, expecting a tropical climate, while he had a few 60s gadgets with him reminiscent from the first "Gaians", for he did not care about the "red carpet" of suits and ties typical diplomats used and that was a more utilitarian outfit for the environment he would arrive at in a few hours. He did not bring guns, for Gaia City was an exception where although tolerated, firearms weren't as popular as they were in other regions of the Confederacy. On the other hand, he did brought something which hopefully wouldn't bring him trouble... for "medicinal" or religious uses of drugs was more popular in his city than in the rest of the Confederacy, and he did brought a few coca leaves with him and a batch of hallucinogenic mushrooms, but he was almost sure there were no authoritarian impositions about such matters there.

The hydroplane landed in a nearby river close to the shore, from where he landed, hoping to meet some of the locals of Apoclypsia, as he friendly walked through the shores of the river, contemplating nature around him and seeking signs of human primitive settlements around.

(OOC: For some reason, Beth Gellert can only access the forums by clicking the link on nationstates.net, so while it's down for upgrade I have to use Beddgelert (pronounced the same way, Beth Gellert is just an anglicisation of this Celtic name) to log on directly to Jolt.)

The first Beddgelens to visit Apoclypsia are an Indian woman called Ekta Gidh -whose names refer to unity, and, uh, vultures- and her on-again off-again partner Mahavir Driver, son of an Indian man and Geletian woman -whose names identify him as most courageous among men, and, well, a driver of some note- who arrive aboard a small WIG -wing in ground-effect- vehicle co-owned by the fifteen hundred members of their home commune. Dashing along at more than a hundred knots and just a metre above the waves, it is not difficult to see why Mahavir chose the surname that he did.

Mahavir is, in addition to being a skilled driver/pilot, a competative Geletian wrestler and occasional prize fighter, so feels little concern in leaving his traditional sword on the WIG, and his associate has undergone basic self-defence training with the Commonwealth Guard Militia Auxiliary Corps, so the couple feel able to defend themselves against anything short of a gun without bearing any arms of their own.

Still, as soon as they arrive the Igovians exchange knowing glances that might be called patronising by anyone who really notices. "Holy Law" isn't a term that the Communists can possibly receive well, and the suggestion that the visitors may be attacked for metal weapons indicates to the pair that citizens of Apoclypsia are denied at least some of their desires and rendered at least partially unable to provide for their own defence and reliant upon agencies that the Igovians -both members of the citizen-militia Commonwealth Guard- would themselves regard as patronising.

Being advised to bring items for barter after being told that they are likely to be attacked for loot seems a grand contradiction. Why would they not be attacked for precious metals and gems if they would be for other metal goods? The Indians elect to leave behind their own mineral wealth, and Mahavir is careful to remove his ruby-studded broach and the silver torq that he usually wears around his neck to identify him as a free man.

They do bring a portable GPS-enabled computer used for communications and other purposes, which Ekta conceals under her shirt. Linked by satellite to Indonet, Soviet India's intranet, the computer will enable access to the latest research conducted by numerous Soviet universities, which may be of use on the trip given the quarter-century long investment in advanced genetics research carried out by the Igovians, who have not been shy about confronting genetics issues sometimes considered taboo in more conservative nations, and the Beddgelens claim to have developed a growing range of gene therapies for numerous ills, while the Soviet Commonwealth has in the past been accused to deploying genetically-targetted biological weapons in a number of counter-imperialist military operations.

The presence of comrade Olson would likely be of interest to the Igovians should they learn of his concurrent visit.

You are greeted by men in mail armor, riding horses. Their are about fifty men in the party, armed with crossbows and katanas. The man in the front of the party stops his horse, and dismounting introduces himself. "Greetings, I am Sub Warcheif Samuel Carters, subcommander of the Washingten Detachment of the Copper Warrior Society. Were the security forces for Apoclypsia and also enforce the Sacred Law of Apoclypsia. I trust the Gods smiled on you and you had a good trip. My faithful servant, Azure will bring you pack mammoths for you to load your gear on. Also, if you can ride, we have extra mounts. I am afraid all motorized vehicles are not permitted in Apoclypsia."
As you watch, a tall humanoid figure is seen bringing a bunch of sixteen foot tall, hairy elephants to you. The humainoid is ideffinitely not human; he walks upright but is covered in scales and resembles a crocodile in his facial features. Only the fact that a cunning intelligence burns behind his scaled face from his red eyes clues you into the fact that he is intelligent.
"This is my manservant, Azure. He was captured near the Big Water, when his Clan attacked the Tribes there from their swamp territories. Since our Law does not recognize him as a human being, he is my indentured servant for seven years untill he works off the debt he incurred for attacking the Tribes of the Big Water. Believe me, he is quite docile and as long as you do not kill anything or bleed in front of him, you are quite safe. The sight or smell of blood makes him go into a feeding frenzy.
Azure nods his head when he sees the Sub Warcheif and comes over to you, to help you load your packages on the impoatient mammoths.

The hydroplane landed in a nearby river close to the shore, from where he landed, hoping to meet some of the locals of Apoclypsia, as he friendly walked through the shores of the river, contemplating nature around him and seeking signs of human primitive settlements around.

The same contingent that went out to meet the Soviets fis sent out to meet you. On the shore you see a group of men on horses, armored in chain mail armor with swords attached to their backs.

Meanwhile, some native go out to you in large outriggers. They seem a little worried, and hurriedly pack your stuff into their canoes. "I am Johnathon Kennedy, of Clan Sperm Whale, of the White Sands Tribe. I am sorry for the impolite hurry, but some warriors that were fishing earlier said they saw a Megladon pack a couple of miles out. The Megladons are spawning, and this river you are in is where their females will lay give birth, as they do each year." As Johnathon speaks, you see a large fin that stands four feet out of the water. The men continue paddling quicker, as more fins four feet tall and some more then six feet tall slice through the water.

With a visible sing of relief, you reach the shore to see an awesome sight. One of the Megladons, breaches the water and its huge form is seen clearly. It is approximately fourty feet long and looks exactly like a Great White, except much, much bigger. "That is a small one, my brother. Some Megladons reach up to seventy five feet long, when they are full size. I am glad we reached shore. Soon the males will battle each other for the right to breed."

As the men on horseback come riding over to you, you look over to notice the water taking on a definite reddish cast, as the water boils with fighting Megladons. " I am glad to see you" says the young man on horseback. "I was told you were coming and we were concerned you may be harmed by the Megladons who come here to breed each year. I am glad you are well, my brother. I Commander Michael Clinton, of the Washington Detachment of the Copper Warrior Society, our nations security force. We enforce the Sacred Law and the teachings from our holy book, the Old American Scriptures. In a minute, I will send one of my warriors back to the fort to fetch you some pack mammoths for you to load your gear on., Do not be afraid of them, for they are completely docile, my brother.
Also, the Prezahdint invites you to the Holy City of Washingten D.C for hospitality in his cabin. If you desire, you may sleep that night with one of his wives or one of mine. It is our custom to share our women with visitors, and I am sure either his women or mine will be pleasing to your eyes. Please pick any of my women or his that you desire to keep you warm this night"
Off in the distance, you see a man walking and leading three huge hairy elephants by the reings your way. "Ah, he is here all ready. We will help you load your things, my brother, and then take you to see the Prezahdint."
