The Prime Minister of Rendreal Marshall Linken Sr sat at his office desk in the Parliament building. He held the position of Parliament Leader but it was a minor role compared to the Presidency and Vice Presidency.

Prime Minister Linken was wearing a grey suit with a crisp white shirt and a red and white striped tie. He was about to convene a meeting of his Cabinet. The Cabinet and Parliament was the legislative body of the country, the Presidency and Vice Presidency were the executive and the Chief Court was the judicial. His PA, Julie wearing a trouser suit entered and informed him that the Cabinet members were assembled. Linken heaved himself out of his black swivel chair and walked the short distance from his office to the Cabinet room.

He entered and the assembled members stood from the chairs in the modern room. He gestured for the assembled Ministers to sit and he sat himself. He kicked off the discussion,
"First things first, Roberta how is the export legislation coming on
Roberta Hill was a middle aged, plump woman who was the Minister for Industry
"Prime Minister, I have ordered my senior staff to make it clear to the cheese export workers that this government shall not tolerate their demands, we can't afford to give them any more pay, even though we have a good economy."
Linken relaxed in the chair just as the Minister for Finance began to argue with Ms Hill. "We can afford to give a meagre pay rise but not on their terms, if necessary I will oppose the legislation."
"Uh, Bob if you do then I will have to console the President himself over the issue of your eligibilty for the Prime Ministership" ordered Linken sternly.

The grey haired Finance Minister knew that he couldn't risk that and said
"Well, If the worst comes to the worst I will back this government".
Linken eyed the Minister with contempt, he knew that if he lost the election next year he would have to resign as Party Leader. Best hold on to prevent power grabbers he thought.

The polls looked bad for Marshall Linken, it had been a tough few weeks after his Finance Minister's brutal resignation and a foreign policy scandal. Linken had been damaged by Bourke in Parliament politically and personally. He could not pull it back, to lose a majority of 58 for a opposition majority of 30 was bad.

Mr Linken was in bad trouble with President Hayes and there were rumours that he would be sacked.
