The Starblaydi Football Association presents:

The Fourth Di Bradini Cup

An Under-21 International Tournament

After the success of the Inaugural (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=537637), Second (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=540605) and Third (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=546766) Di Bradini Cups - and a massive 'thank-you' to everyone who has actively got involved in them, particularly the 12/16 rosters from last cup - the Starblaydi Football Association presents another edition of its own Under-21 international tournament. Named after Starblaydia's most-famous player, the first person to score for Starblaydia's own Under-21s, the fourth-highest goalscorer in Starblaydia's history, member of the World Cup Hall of Fame and one President of the World Cup Committee. For Simeone Di Bradini, we present, for your participation: The Fourth Di Bradini Cup!.

Last time out defending champions Candelaria And Marquez met the original champions Elves Security Forces for a battle royal to decide who was the best Under-21 side in the world, with C&M taking their second successive title. Cafundeu triumphed over a stronger-than-ever Jeruselem side in the Third Place match, while there were notable performances from St Samuel, Popay and Taeshan. Starblaydia, however, didn't even make it past the Second Round, losing out to Cafundeu.

It is a showcase Under-21 tournament designed to also show off Starblaydia's bid for the 27th Baptism of Fire with its organisation and stadia.

OOC: A few points about this: Finishing positions in the previous tournaments will play a very minor role in this, but this tournament is very much influenced by RP, unless the scorinator decides to come down harshly on you, RP = teh win.

Time-wise, this tournament is designed to be a Pre-WC40 (Pre-BoF, too) tournament, 4 years after the last Di Bradini Cup.

I'll be using a modified version of my old Rugby Union scorinator, which has a massive RP Bonus - if you've posted 3 great RPs and your opponent none at all, you'll probably win 6- or 7-0. 3 Great RPs each, and it might be 1-0 or 2-1. Simple, it's the difference between the two teams' RP bonuses that counts.

I will be scorinating all results and I will be participating fully. I'm not desperate enough to win my own cup by cheating during the scorination, if I wanted that I'd just RP my own cup with just my puppets. If you don't like it that way, don't enter, 'cos you'll only complain later if I happen to do well :)

Newmanistan will participate in this competition, seeing it as a great opportunity to get the Empire all excited for our first crack at the World Cup, in the 40th version, and giving us a taste of what it takes to compete at this very high level. And of course, to showcase our younger talent.

As part of the AICC's bid to expand commercial interests, Seongyeong Gas [선경석유(線耿石油)] wishes to make a bid to sponsor this competition. Already a prominent sponsor in the Han Empire for powerful NFL teams, Seongyeong believes that a young players deserve every chance to advance proficiently in the sport, and that such an endeavor deserves the opportunity to provide such a chance to the youth talent in the world.

Contract deal entailed:

We:
*give you money to host the event;
*use some of our subsidiary companies to provide equipment for hosting the event (we have telecommunications equipment too!).

You:
*put up ads with SG label on it.

This deal would last until the end of this competition this year.

Samseong Electronics [삼성전자 (三星電子)] also wishes to make a bid to sponsor this competition. We echo the sentiments of our fellow companion company and at times competitor, but we maintain that in the spirit of friendly sponsorship that both of our bids should be allowed, since the presence of two powerful companies (at least domestically...) would provide your Cup with a good supply of finances and equipment, pending the existence of other well-placed sponsorships as well (because this is your fourth edition). We feel that adding our names to this esteemed competition would increase both our names and your profitability to run this competition.

The Starblaydi F.A. require three more teams to begin the competition, sponsorship for this tournament (and any other possible Cups to be hosted by Starblaydia) will be dealt with in due course.
Blouman Empire

Just a quick question does is this cup played after the World Cup and CoH just wondering as I have players who are U21 and play in the national squad.

In either case sign the Blouman Empire up

OOC: Time-wise, this tournament is designed to be a Pre-WC40 (Pre-BoF, too) tournament, 4 years after the last Di Bradini Cup. The World Cup Finals and Cup of Harmony will be long-finished (two or three years, at least, going by the 4 year-per-cup cycle). I'm starting this slightly earlier than usual as I may have to host the BoF for WC40, too, and want to get it out of the way.

Two more nations, please!
Newmanistan

Newmanistan is pumped for this competition, fever is really beginning to become widespread throughout the Empire for our first worldwide competition, and the nation is just about ready to release its roster.

(And this thread looked like it could use a bump)
Taeshan

Ill sign up a Kosovoe team for this cup to get the list to 20.

Newmanistan were already in, Taeshan, so your puppet makes it a hugely uncomfortable 19 teams. I'll deny Kosovoe their entry, I'm afraid, in order to start this competition. 18 teams we have, and closed this sign-up thread is. Many thanks.

Four Groups of Five will be far easier. So That's 20 including Kosovoe. Lucky I didn't start the thread!

Plus how could it start without my co-bidder for the WC40 Uber-Bid?

OOC:

Can someone explain the modifier system to me?

And is the RolePlay Ranking System being used for this one? If so, I'm getting my ass kicked, heh.

There is no modifier system for team style in the Di Bradini Cup - but basically the +/- 5 option is to show how attacking or defensive your team is. When this is built into a scorinator, a +5 team will score and concede more goals than usual, while a -5 team will score and concede less goals, to make match scores somewhat more in keeping with style of play. Anyone who has posted a style modifier in their roster for the DBC has, basically, wasted their breath as far as scorination goes. For RPing purposes, however, knowing how offensive/defensive a team is can aid other people in RPing against your side.

RPR was invented by TnUI and, also, is not used in this Cup. RPing just increases your chance of winning future matches, plain and simple.
