World Cup 40 Introduction:

For more information on the World Cup, its History, how it works, who runs it, and the competitions related to it, check out the World Cup Wiki Site (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/world_cup.html).

The NSWC is a tournament for any NS nation who signs up. This World Cup is about to start its 40th competition, and your nation can take part! Every team is given a rank based on their performances in previous Cups, and the starting rank is roughly 200 (the Current 'best team in the world' is Az-cz, with a rank of 1) See: KPB Rankings (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/kpb_ranking_system.html)

Scores are generated using either a Java program or through various or MS Excel sheet 'scorinators' which use random numbers, weighted by ranking and RP bonus to produce the scores.

It is encouraged for Nations to RP - roleplay - their matches, team rosters, players and such. Good RPs will help raise your chance of winning (especially in the Baptism of Fire). Please note: A lot of RPs does not guarantee goals or wins, but your chances are improved of this happening. i.e. Two debutant, non-ranked, nations play each other. One has RP'd a few times, the other has not. The nation who has participated should have the better probability of victory, but still has a chance of a Win, Loss or Draw.

RPs can be Team Roster announcements, fan comments, press conferences, media stories, anything about the game, as long as you've kept to the score as posted or TGd to you by the host/scorer.

I'm completely egg-new to this, however I'm afraid I will lose the chance if I leave it for too long, so:
The New Cimeran World Cup Trial Team (NCWCTT) is commencing it's trial for the duration of WC40. It includes nationally renown stars such as Cerca Almatric, Medy Achtor and Sedeli Maralura. If it goes well you will be seeing many more appearances of New Cimeran.
Yes, I will also join Baptism of Fire.

In the lowest depths of the Starblaydi Football Association's Headquarters in Jhanna, there sits a young archivist trawling through the oldest records know to Starblaydi football. Before even the six-team Alpha Division had played a match, Starblaydia's Under-21s had played in Total n Utter Insanity, in the third Under-21 World Cup. The archivist was rolling through the game footage, shot on actual film, rather than straight to Hi-Def Hard Drive., but transferred to digital in recent years. The footage was nearly a century old. Ninety-seven years, to be precise.

"...Carter, in the centre. Played out wide to J.J. Stark, the sixteen year old- beats his man! He's away here, Europa Brittania are stretched, low cross to Moore, lays it off... Di Bradini's there! Simeone Di Bradini has scored, Starblaydia's first goal in this tournament, their first goal ever..."

At first he thought it was just interference on the recording, but then he realised it wasn't coming from the monitor's speakers. The beeping and whirring was coming from a large, cream/off-white machine. A fax. He didn't even know it was plugged in, let alone connected. He walked over to it and picked up the paper it had just spat out.

The Empress of Newmanistan.

Ut-oh. This looked important. The archivist went on to read the whole message, and knew that he had no business keeping it to himself. A new nation wanted to enter the Cup, which would hopefully mean a visit to Starblaydia for the Baptism of Fire. An Empress? Well there was always the hope of some romantic comedy Archivist-meets-Empress action, futile as that may be. The archivist decided to take this to the proper authorities, so the new nation could actually step off the team bus and be allowed in to their first match - wherever that would be.

The Supermarket will be continuing in their bid to be the most futile nation in WC history, other than the NEWI team of WC11.

Already a prominent sponsor in the Han Empire for powerful NFL teams, Seongyeong believes that players of the world in football deserve the opportunity to play with the best equipment at the least cost. SG can help in this endeavor!

Contract deal entailed:

We:
*give you money to host the event;
*use some of our subsidiary companies to provide equipment for hosting the event (we have telecommunications equipment too!).

You:
*put up ads with SG label on it.
*provide receipts so we can get tax exemptions for our contributions to this event.

This deal would last until the end of this competition this year; if we/you are satisfied, we can choose to extend this deal.

Samseong Electronics [삼성전자 (三星電子)] also wishes to make a bid to sponsor this competition. We echo the sentiments of our fellow companion company and at times competitor, but we maintain that in the spirit of friendly sponsorship that both of our bids should be allowed, since the presence of two powerful companies (at least domestically...) would provide the World Cup (and its affiliated tournaments) with a good supply of finances and equipment, pending the existence of other well-placed sponsorships as well (because this is your 40th edition). We feel that adding our names to this esteemed competition would increase both our names and your profitability to run this competition.

The national team will be selected by a selection board to be appointed by a Special General Meeting of the Pantocratorian Football League to be held on the 25th of February. The selection board will select a squad from currently employed (season 2007/2008) professional players in the Pantocratorian Football League, and from amateurs who played in the 2007 Regional Football Championships (the Montmanuel Football League, the Votosoros Soccer Cup, and the South Central Football Championship).

All costs incurred by the Pantocratorian Football League, all player salaries, transportation, accommodation, and associated miscellany in the pursuit of the World Cup will be completely met by the generous sponsorship of Peacock Motors. Anyway, the point is that we can't have a multiple-of-ten cup without Iansisle

...unless my memory has failed and I've been betrayed by being too lazy to look up these sorts of things and we really didn't participate (or think about) WC30, in which case you CAN have a multiple-of-ten cup without Iansisle... but we won't!
