"In a plethora of sweeping changes made this year, this one came as the least expected, after having held their position as the leading majority within the Californian Parliament for more than two hundred and sixty years the Californian Socialist Party had been resoundingly defeated by the Democratic and Libertarian Party with 312 (41.6%) of the seats in the House of Delegates, and 271 (41.7%) of the seats in the Senate, giving them a 41.64% majority in Parliament. Now, with these series of changes, Parliament has voted and passed a resolution changing the official name of the nation from the long known and heavily favored official name given the nation when the Democratic and Socialist parties had worked in union with one another before their split in 2259. Effective immediately, the 'Californian Sovereign Democratic Socialist Federation' will no longer be used for the official name of the nation any more, in its place the nation's new official name will now be the 'Californian Sovereign Democratic Commonwealth'.
With these new changes President Natalie Kensington will be embarking on a tour throughout Europe to meet with the Presidents and Prime Ministers in an effort to begin or resume diplomatic relations with some of the various Western and Eastern European nations before returning to the Commonwealth to meet with the American president to resume talks on an agreement with the United States of America, regarding the desires to resolve the ongoing border dispute with the United States stemming from California's November 19 declaration of in dependence."
Along with these changes officials from the Californian Armed Forces have also stated that the troop levels along the Inner-American Border will be drawn down over the months until less than two-hundred thousand armed personnel remain guarding the border between the two nations — a mere fraction compared to the troop level of 1.3 million troops that have been stationed along the border of the IAB since 2071."
