MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOSEPH HARRISTON TO INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
I have the great regret of informing the international community of the death of President Peter Woodstun today, at approximately 4:00 A.M. (Eastern Rumstanian Time), after an accomplished 23 year term. All of Rumstania mourns his loss.
Shortly after his death, in accordance with our nation's Constitution, the Council of Commissioners convened and elected, unanimously, myself to become Rumstania's next President. I have been sworn in, in accordance with Rumstanian laws, and am exercising the full power of the Presidency at this time. While I, like all Rumstanians, honor the memory of President Woodstun, I strongly disagreed with him on the issue of foreign policy. Rumstania has been living, for years, in a bubble of isolationism. It is time to pop this bubble and open up our nation. Any nation which wishes to establish an embassy in the Holy Republic of Rumstania may now request to do so; all embassies will be located in our nation's bustling capitol, Rumstan City. Any nation which requests an embassy must also be willing to accept a Rumstanian Embassy in their capitol city. Rumstania has much to offer the international community and I'm sure the world has much to offer my people. The door has been opened today and I hope we all may walk through it to a brighter, glorious future.
