Please don't say it will be a Swiss style tournament!

I've done that twice already (Oxen Cups 2 and 3)... so no swiss this time around.

I am open to suggestions as to which format i should use.

Okay ow bout this since twelve team 3 groups of 4 then the teams are re grouped continuing with the same record and then the top eight go into playoff. For 14 2 groups of seven the redran top ten make it wild card then playoff

Please post rosters by Tuesday as that will be the First Match day. The format is a double-round robin, with the top 2 teams from each group advancing to the Quarterfinals, where they will be ranked 1-8 based on record, then KPB Rankings (for any ties for a rank) and placed in the Winners bracket. The losers of the winner bracket qtrs will then face each other with the winners of those 2 games to play for 5th, the losers for 7th. The winners bracket semifinal winners will play for the Title, while the 2 losers from the Winners brack semis will play for 3rd.

But that's not all! The bottom two teams from each group will face off in the repecharge qtrs (also determined by record then KPB rank)with the winners to play each other. The losers semifinal winners will play for 9th, while the 2 losers will play for 11th. The 4 losers of the quarterfinals will play each other, with the 2 winners to play for 13th and the 2 losers for 15th. This way every team will play at least 9 games and will have a definitive finish.

Goalie: Edwin Nigma- Not the man from Batman who became the Riddler, but his younger brother. AKA The puzzle as it's puzzling a to how a 3 1/2ft tall 270 lbs person can play keeper.

Defense:
Bill Fold- Despite his last name, is one of the most un-flappable defenders in the game.
Tex Mex- A guy born on the Rio Grande, not sure if he's a Texan or a Mexican, but he can play foosball.
John Jacob Jinglehimer-Schmidt- Not the guy someone wrote a song about.
Real McCoy- Found wandering the streets of Pruxton, saying "I'm the Real McCoy." Decided to use him on defense since his constant rambling throws of the opposition.

Midfield:
Pi- A 3.14 meter tall Greek letter that can play foosball.
The Sphinx- an enigmatic young lady who riddles the opposition with constant questions, which drive them crazy. Also a good corner kicker with her lion's legs.
3.1415- A shorter version of Pi, he's only 3.14 ft tall, but kicks like a mule.

Attakers:
Pi R. Squared- A Circle with legs, don't know how it happened, don't know where it's from, but it works.
Pies R. Round- A walking pie, don't know how it happened, don't know where it's from, but it works.
007- A code name for this gentleman. Don't know much about him either.

Oxen Cup 5 Preview
New manager Rhoetang Dotsmens faces a tough task in the upcoming Oxen Cup 5 in Qazox. With several top players sidelined after a disappointing Cup of Harmony XXX the FA has gone for a mix of youth and experience. In comes 16 years olds Manny Colotta and Geoff Green and 18 year old Unit One. Veterans Tim Bront, Huio Nert, Tony Rimaron, Cro Minia and Youn Grand (each played in all 27 competition games to date) have been dumped and face an uphill battle to reclaim their places. But the focus is on the future in Qazox and Nire and Nire face some familar foes. Drawn in Group A with Tournament hosts Qazox, Nire and Nire once again find themselves up against Bostopia and Green Wombat after playing them in world cup 38 qualifiers. In 5 matches against these two sides, Nire and Nire has fashioned a 2-0-3 record and will need to improve on this if they are any chance of making it through to the next stage. First up is a tough match against tournament hosts Qazox at the Henri Savage Stadium in New Recife. An intimidating home crowd of 72,981 and a fervent Nire and Nire support of 9 will be on hand to witness a match of the highest quality.

Jason Vallen's Oxen Cup 5 Blog....

First, let me start off by asking why this tourney is known as the Oxen Cup, when for most of the tourney's history, the Qazox team was known as the Pheonix? Not to mention whatever cyborgish things they have become now.

But enough about that. Once again, Green wombat has been drawn into a group with... Nire and Nire. It's like we're conjoined twins or something. So unfortunately, we know their tricks and vice-versa.

But for once I got a good feeling so here is my 1st ever predictions (I know they have been done to death, but what the heck?)

GROUP A (Group Strength- 3rd)
Qazox 5-0-1 15pts +11GD
Bostopia 5-0-1 15pts +8GD
Green wombat 1-1-4 4pts -7GD
Nire and Nire 0-1-5 1pt -10GD

The hosts and one of the tourney favorites should beat both us and N&N twice and split with each other, with Qazox winning the group on GD. on MD 4 we beat N&N to get our lone group win. Overall this group is top heavy and it will show.

GROUP B (Group Strength- 2nd)
Cafundeu 5-0-1 15pts +8GD
Lovisa 3-1-2 10pts +3GD
taeshan 2-1-3 7pts -2GD
Prux 1-0-5 3pts -9GD

Cafundeu should win this group easily, and Prux should finish last, so that leaves taeshan and Lovisa. This winner (if one) between those two teams on MD5 should determine 2nd place. Overall a decent group, albeit with a weak team in Prux and two decent teams.

GROUP C (Group Strength- 1st)
Sel Appa 4-0-2 12pts +4GD
Jeru FC 3-1-2 10pts +2GD
Estresse Intenso 2-1-3 8pts -1GD
St Samuel 2-0-4 6pts -5GD

Sel Appa is the class of this group, the proverbial "GROUP OF DEATH". They will be hard pressed by the other three teams in the group, escpecially by the Landau Institute team from Estresse Intenso. MD6 could, and probably will, determine the top two teams in this group, but i think the Turtles and Jeru FC will get through in this most evenly matched grouping.

GROUP D (Group Strength- 4th)
Jeruselem 6-0-0 18pts +23GD
Scotchpinestan 4-0-2 12pts +4GD
Sorthern Northland 2-0-4 6pts -7GD
ashlaea 0-0-6 0pts -20GD

Kinda funny how the Hosts and the Defending Oxen Cup champs get rather easy groups huh? If Jeruselem loses a game to any of the three teams int his group, then that will be the biggest upset of the tourney. ashlaea is using this tourney as a springboard towards the next BoF and shouldn't expect to go far. Scotchpinestan v Sorthern Northland on MD6 will probably determine the 2nd team from this group.

Dazza: Hi, I'm back!
Officer: Ambassador Lady Dazzarina Handiskya Dallas ...
Dazza: That's me, I love this place.
Officer: Funny, everytime you turn up you don't seem to look any older.

Dazza: I can thank Mum for that.
(Lot's of paperwork and mouse clicking)
Officer: Well, your papers seem in order there Dazza. Have a nice day.
Dazza: Thanks.
Officer: Right, next.

Kara: Err, that's me!
Officer: You're not that Jacinta Dallas are you?
Kara: No! No! I'm not a Dallas.
Officer: Kara Kool ... that crazy Jewish striker.

Kara: Yes, I'm Jewish ... sort of. Well, more French but you know.
Officer: Is this an old photo?
Kara: Oh yeah, that's a school photo really. My hair style has changed a lot since then. A lot of people mistake me for Dazza's daughter sometimes. I think we shop at the same place.
(Lot's of paperwork and mouse clicking)
Officer: That's alright, everything seems in order here. You can pass.

Kara: Thanks officer.
Officer: Now, it's ... Fez?
Fez: Yes, I'm Fez.
Officer: No surname here, is that right?

Fez: Yes sir, that's right.

Scotchpinestan- 49th
Sorthern Northland- 41st
ashlaea- UNR
(Group avg- 65.25) ashlaea figured as lowest available rank 157th

GW did a pretty good job with the strengths, got all 4 correct. To be honest, just by using a pair of dice to determine each group, the groups came out fairly balanced (although ashlaea and Jeru FC should be switched but nothing is perfect). I also tried to keep puppets and masters separate for as long as possible and to Nire and Nire and GW, sorry, but either way (weighted draw or the way the dice came up) you two would have been in the same group.

The QAZOX ODDS on the winner:
Jeruselem 4-1
Sel Appa 9-2
Cafundeu 5-1
QAZOX 7-1
Bostopia 7-1

The Nire and Nire football side are in action again tomorrow, kicking off the fifth Oxen Cup against tournament hosts and joint-favourites Qazox. Our football correspondent, Arma Nutta, has made the journey to Qazox and will report daily on the Mighty Bulls progress, including the popular "How to Beat ..." (TM) series. We cross live to Qazox:

Studio: Arma, welcome. How is the team shaping up
Qazox: Well, studio, it is a tough ask for Nire and Nire having to face the hosts in the opening match but spirits are high in the camp and it appears new manager Rhoetang Dotsmens has made an impact on team moral.
Studio: And he did perform wonders for the Vephrall national side :) Ok Arma, take it away ... tonight's 'How to Beat (TM) ... Qazox

In the other game the white salamanders whearing there nice metallic blue jerseys against scothchpinestan one of there knight friends bitter rivals. Dazza Dallas was furious despite the win
"Oi! You call that a defense! Come on, we are here to defend a cup and we leak three goals already. Good thing Kara here was on the ball and her crew. I want to see real defending. The World Cup 38 team leaked 5 goals in 3 goals during the group stage, we leak 3 in one game already. OK we score more goals too but it's defense I'm talking about. I want you all at training 6 AM in the morning! We are here to win boys and girls. There's no Skate to save you here. Most of you are young but this is not an experiment. Come on team, attack but keep the ball. Don't let them have the ball. Mary Magalene, can you stop tripping over yourself please. Confine that when we need a penalty. Tomorrow, hard training and work on the defense. I know this is a new team but we are Jeruselem not Jeru FC. Look the boys scored three and conceded three. That's a good effort for them but for us, I demand 4-0 wins over lower opponents. When the new coach takes over the World Cup team, I want everyone to be on board and firing. Qazox is no holiday, we can party after we win this cup. My Skate won this cup for us, we don't want to lose it now."

<Later>

Kara Kool picked up a photo of small girl holding a teddy bear with her mother wearing very little. It was easy to figure, who it was.

Kara: Coach! Coach! You dropped something!
Dazza: My photo, thanks Kara.
Kara: That's a sad photo you know, little girls shouldn't be living in place like that.
Dazza: Hey, that's alright Kara. Look at me now!

Kara: But you could have been just one of those working girls, dead by 30.
Dazza: I know. God helped out, even if I am still a dirty little whore.
Kara: Some people say, people should put you down but I think you're hero because you know people like me - you can be someone when you were a no one.
Dazza: Thanks. I'm not quite a perfect role model but I'm a lot better than some others.

Kara: Hey, do I look like your Jacinta?
Dazza: Actually you do, same hair colour but you're taller and stronger. She's more petite and shorter. Totally different voice though.
Kara: No wonder some people think I am her.
Dazza: You make sound like it's bad thing!

St Samuel's run of poor form has continued after being losing 4-1 to Sel Appa. Yves al Jahadi, who was kept on as manager after a disatorous Cup of Harmony, looked on with clear dissapointment. It seem's the Arridian is struggling to steer his team in the right direction with his fourth straight defeat as manager. One thing is for sure, if The Latin Crusaders struggle in the Oxen Cup, his reign as manager will undoubtedly be terminated.

The Latin Crusaders found themselves two nil down at half time and the second half was equally dissapointing as the first half. Mazzeranni pulled one back on the hour mark, but Sel Appa showed there class by dominating St Samuel from there on and scoring a further two goals to win the fixture 4-1.

St Samuel will have to over come there run of poor form and pull themselves out of the gutter if they are to have any hope of getting results against Jeru or Estresse Intenso.

Jason Vallen's Oxen Cup 5 Blog....MD 1 Bostopia @ Henrí Savagé Stadium, New Recife.

Yikes, we got stomped, nothing more to say than that 4-0 at the hands of Bostopia. The duo of AUDERRIE and CRIPPS each scored twice, once in each half to continue our bad performances.

I don't know if its fatigue now from playing 18 matches in the last 6 months (doubt it) or if the team really just stinks. Inexperience, after 18 games is not an excuse, despite what the team's Coach claims. Granted, Bostopia is one of the top 20 teams in the world, but we've been around the block enough now to score at least one goal, right?

It doesn't get any easier tommorrow as we have to face off against the hosts, Qazox. It's been almost 12 years since we've faced them way back in the 2nd Oxen Cup. For those of you that don't remember that score it was 2-2 after regulation and Qazox won it in extra time 3-2. Back then we had just come off our 2nd consecutive WC appearance and were ranked in the top 30, now.... If we manage a goal, i'd be surprised.

LANDAU INSTITUTE CALLS THE SAME PLAYERS FOR THE NATIONAL TEAM

PROFESSOR JESUS BANGU MELO RELEASES ROSTER - FOR COH 30

Style is 0 now

The Landau Institute (we don't like to be called Estresse Intenso, as we are completely different from the country), will repeat the team that played the WC 38 qualifiers, but with a different style and president. A team that isn't composed just of crazy patients or only doctors.

Estresse Intenso is a very dangerous and difficult place to live. Its citizens have to support all the stress resultant of a society that is near to an anarchy. The country itself doesn't have a National Team, but there is one place that has, the only place that doesn't have the pressure of Estresse Intenso's way of life.

Many people from Estresse Intenso succumbed to the stress. Most of them became crazy and couldn't live in the country anymore. So, they went to the Landau Institute, where the stress can be controlled and any craziness signs can be controlled by the many doctors that live there, employed by Professor Jesus Bangu Melo.

All the players of Estresse Intenso's National Team come from the Landau Institute, and there they can train 12 hours per day, every day. Someone can only be considered a doctor after intense study, and the minimum age is of 23 (but few are able to become doctor at this age). Patients come after they become crazy in the "outside world".

To become a professor, the doctors need to keep studying, and only after a specific number of services made for the Landau Institute, a doctor gets this title (it takes approximately twenty years). A professor works together with the commanders of the Institute. The title would suggest that he would start acting as a teacher for young doctors, but this isn't the case.

(OOC: Important Note: don't use the Estresse Intenso flag when referring to the team. Use the Landau Institute Doctors' Association flag. It's the flag of a country called LID Association, created just to stock the flag)

See the list (use the names in BOLD):

Goalkeepers:

1-Benjamin Toledo DURÃO (patient, sometimes becomes violent without reason)
12-Francisco TUARANA (patient, controlled with medicines)
22-Doctor Octávio SÉRVULO (doctor, an optician)

Defenders:

2-REBECA Holambra (patient, kisses everyone that touches her face)
3-Doctor Wellington QUEVEDO (doctor, a psychiatrist who doesn't believe in supernatural things)
4-Professor Jesus BANGU MELO (doctor, a psychiatrist, one of the main doctors of the Institute, the new president of the Institute)
6-Father ANACLETO the Tactician (monk, main monk from the Institute)
13-HERBERT Lizi Olive (patient, arsonist)
14-Doctor CIRO Penbrandt (doctor, a pneumologist)
20-ÍRIS (she is one of the computer experts of the Institute)
21-Doctor Yuri APARECIDO (doctor, a surgeon)

Midfielders:

5-Doctor César ZETTI (doctor, a general practicioner)
7-José Eduardo Ubirajara "BIRA" (patient, has hallucinations)
8-Doctor Letícia SABIN (doctor, a neurologist, she is a very good player)
11-Professor César SELIC (doctor, a cardiologist)

16-Professor ALINE Felipo Landau (doctor, a psychiatrist, wife of Doctor Rogério Landau)

The Sortherners opening game of the Oxen Cup had just finished and manager Kevaughn Ó Criomhthain was in the dressing room giving his team his post match team talk.

"Well done lads, that was a great performance out there today, particularly the attacking. The defence maybe could have been a bit better but to be honest I'm not sure many defences could have dealt with Kara Kool today, although Corneal, you could have tried looking at her cleavage less and the ball more. Oi President O'Bagels, I've not finished yet, get out the shower. Erm I mean could you wait a couple of minutes before having a shower Sir? So like I was saying good performance, all right not the result we wanted but Jeruselem are a very good team, and we should be aiming to qualify behind them. We can do it. Believe! Right so whose next? Let's see. Erm..... aha ashlaea. Should be easy, those retards can't even string a coherent sentence together. Or even put a capital letter in their name. You'd think they've never heard of a spell checker or something. Right anyway let's see who their squad is. Hmm superman? Robin? Flash? and Spiderman? So basically they are a team of idiots who dress up in superhero costumes to do charity races. Well seeing as we're not going to be challenged in the next game you all go off and have a few beers and enjoy the night that Qazox has to offer. Oh and anything that's shows people donkeys are better than Oxen will be greatly appreciated by our government I'm told.

And before you all go the team for the ashlaea game will be:
In goal, Georgie Palmer
Right back, Ri Kwange Chong
Left Back, Nicky Murty
Centre Backs, Ivar Wrightson and Marek Smith
Left Wing, The Dear Leader President O'Bagels
Right Wing, Feng Shui
Centre midfield, Diago Maran and Gung Ho-Suk
and the forwards will be 'The Haitian' and Kim Min-Kim.

Right now feck off and enjoy yourselves. See you all tomorrow."

Today flash did the unthinkable for ashlaea he scored there only goal against sn. Still wearing there metalic blue jerseys the white salamanders stunned fans by scoring on sn. Already down 5-0 the salamanders atleast scored. Well in the other game the purple knights also did the unethicalable by winning a game. Although with there sleek royal purple jerseys the taeshan team made the prux prawns look even worse then they are two random guys scored and one of the prawns did .

Dazza: Scooter!
Scooter: Hey coach, nice shirt.
Dazza: Keep fit, ride a Bike ... a message for kids out there.
Scooter: Dazza, there's a hidden message in that. Say, we got a new coach yet?

Dazza: Err, it's not me but they haven't decided yet.
Scooter: Pity Tunky isn't going for the job.
Dazza: Well, maybe he wants the quiet life.
Scooter: Oh well, I hope we can get a good coach.

Dazza: I'm pushing for that Ariddian Jane Sanderson.
Scooter: Good good, I like Frenchies!
Dazza: She might even get paid for it.
Scooter: Oh yes, they don't pay their coaches do they.

Dazza: That's a commie state for you.
Scooter: I need the money for a family
Dazza: You like older men don't you?
Scooter: Yeah, you aren't exactly fussy either.

Dazza: Not really, hey what you think of the Mary Magalene girl?
Scooter: She needs to loosen up a bit, she takes life far too seriously.
Dazza: It's hard to talk to her, hiding from sin all her life. Better of being a Nun really.
Scooter: I think she tried that once, got very bored.

Dazza: Poor girl, I guess we're the other extreme.
scooter: Yes we are, maybe we're just crazy people.
Dazza: Say, there's video of you on the net flashing your bits around.

Jason Vallen's Oxen Cup 5 Blog....MD 2 Nire and Nire @ Ganja Vodka Park, Lake Porter City

Appearently, I was misinformed about our 2nd match, as we took on Nire and Nire for the 4th time this year, and came away with a 3-1 win, which moved us into a technical tie for 2nd with Bostopia, but in reality we are third based on GD and H2H results.

Claudia Bard lead the way with her 1st carrer Hat-trick, all in the first half as the Wombats jumped out to a 3-0 lead. The goals came in the 19th, 34th and 40th minutes. N&N managed to squeak one by, thanks to Prontio Maximus, in the 62nd to cut the lead to 3-1, but surprisingly the defense held and we won.

Now we play Qazox, and the things I said in the last blog still hold true.

1-2 loss to taeshan.

Lone goal scored by 007 in minute 56.

taeshan goals in minutes 84 and 89, both on PK

Next is Lovisa.

Might get a draw, if Lovisa comes down with food poisoning.

TOP 6 LIST
#1- Jeruselem (2-0-0)- Easiest group and 2 easy wins, but will lack of competition hurt them in knockouts?

#2- Cafundeu (2-0-0)- 2 easy matches so far, but can taeshan test them? If not, then the group is just about won.

#3- QAZOX (2-0-0)- Hosts survive vs. Bostopia, but next match should be a walk in the park over underwhelming wombats.

#4- Sel Appa (1-1-0) Should be 2-0-0, but failure to put away Landau Inst. might cost them a top spot later on.

#5- Bostopia (1-0-1) If that 87th minute shot was a foot lower, they might be #3 on the list instead of the Hosts.

#6- St. Samuel (1-0-1) A mildly surprising shut-out of Jeru FC and the fact they play Landau next could see this team last longer than some might think.

WORST TEAM:
ashlaea (0-0-2)- Somehow they've outscored 3 teams in the cup so far. Next match might be only chance to see a 10-0 game this tourney (they play Jeruselem)

First Game: Against Prux

In the first round of the Oxen Cup, the Monopolists played against a team composed of... unusual players. Some of the players from the red-black team were impressed with the nature of their opponents, but others were already used to that (Cafundéu have played against penguins, mice, monks, crazy patients, robots, gnomes, aliens and the list continues...). But the team showed the strength, and the players did their best, willing a place in the main National Team. With a good performance, the team was able to score five goals.

Second Game: Against Lovisa

Some supporters thought that a game against the Cup of Harmony champions, especially with the Monopolists using the B team, would be difficult. But the CCFM knew that a team that only drew with Estresse Intenso shouldn't be so difficult to beat (although the same Cafundéu drew with Estresse Intenso in the WC qualifiers, so the CCFM idea is contradictory). And, as a past champion of Cup of Harmony, Cafundéu played well, and was able to win another game by a good result, showing that the country has much more than 23 good players to use in international games.

CAFUNDÉU 4x2 LOVISA

Place: Toro Rojo Stadium, in Las Vitas (Qazox).
Attendance: 70,006 people.

St Samuel's terrible run of form has finally come to an end with a 2-0 win over Jeru FC. After seeing his side lose there fourth consecutive match, manager Yves al Jahdali was facing increasing pressure of weather he would hold onto his job.

But his team did him proud with a confident victory. There was no sign of the low morale and poor teamwork seen in the last few fixtures in what could have been a very tricky match for the Latin Crusaders.

It was the two strikers, Sebastien Atalanta and Enzo Mazzeranni that scored the two goals and for once the St Samuel defence looked back in form. Captain Seth Justantinium led his side from the back and didnt allow Jeru the time in the St Samuel half.

St Samuel's first victory in there debut Oxen Cup will go a long way for there qualification hopes. They face the unbeaten Estresse Intenso next which manager al Jahdali will be hoping to get his second victory.

Princesses destroy Superhero team Ashlaea

Dazza's team in Qazox roll on, and have almost secured a place in the next round after the Princesses crushed Ashlaea 8-2. Ashlaea did score two goals mainly because Jeruselem didn't do a lot of defending at all, too busy trying score goals at the other side.

Jeru FC had a heartbreaking loss to Sel Appa 3-4, and are still last. They have not played badly, but with two narrow losses they have not being a bad team, just unlucky.

Kara Kool showed why she rated so highly - scoring a hattrick with Edward Barat getting two goals. Captain "Scooter" scored one as well with other goals going to Harry Pothead and the defender called Fez.

The opponents dressed as superheroes and other fictional characters didn't have a chance against Jeruselem's superteam. We even think our own Jeru FC could have beaten them too!

Many in Jeruselem have called for Jeruselem to recall Dazza Dallas as coach but she refused saying someone else should take over - like the ex-Ariddian coach Jane Sanderson. Many have noted Dazza's bias towards Ariddians but then she is half-Ariddian herself.

Jeruselem don't need much to make the next round of the Oxen Cup 5, a draw or win against Scotchpinestan will do.

JGN have reported an incident where Fiskin Dallas locked herself out her room by accident wearing only a towel. She turned up at reception to the amusement of onlookers. She didn't seem too bothered about it. Hotel staff said they were glad it was not Dazza, Dazza drops her towel sometimes (when there's a crowd around).

Jason Vallen's Oxen Cup 5 Blog....MD 3 QAZOX @ Ganja Vodka Park, Lake Porter City

Thanks to some late heroics by William Bard, the wombats held the hosts to a draw 2-2. Bard scored in the 88th minute to tie the match, just 4 minutes after Qazox went ahead 2-1.

Claudia Diehl scored the opening goal in the 17th, sending the crowd in Lake Porter City, the closest major city in Qazox to Green wombat, into a frenzy. The crowd was almost split evenly between teh two sides and the seeming lack of the home advantage might have allowed the Wombats to feel less pressure. Qazox tied it at 1-1 in the 50th minute.

Half way through the first round, Green wombat is only 2 points behind Bostopia and with either an upset of Bostopia or Qazox, we could possibly sneak into the winner's bracket.

Up next is a rematch against Nire and Nire at Henrí Savagé Stadium.

TOP 6 LIST
#1- Jeruselem (3-0-0)- I think they could have scored 20, but decided to rest for the next round a bit.

#2- QAZOX (2-1-0)- How did Qazox draw the Wombats? Easy they took them too lightly.

#3- Sel Appa (2-1-0) Either Jeru FC is better than we thought or Sel Appa is playing on auto-pilot?

#4- Cafundeu (2-0-1)- The B team finally played down to their opponents and it cost them.

#5- Bostopia (2-0-1) Same question and answer as is the one for Qazox, just insert Bostopia, comeback from down 0-2 and Nire and Nire.

#6- St. Samuel (2-0-1) Almost had back-to-back shutouts. Could be the true dark horse here.

WORST TEAM:
ashlaea (0-0-3)- Like we said earlier, Jeruselem decided to rest in the last 50 minutes or this one would have been uglier.

The Latin Crusaders earnt their second victory of the Oxen Cup with a win over the unbeaten Estresse Intenso. The victory keeps St Samuel second in Group C and in a good position to qualify. St Samuel face group leaders Sel Appa, who drew to Jeru FC who are currently bottom of the group.

Manager, Yves al Jahdali will be looking to win a third consecutive win which will virtually confirm qualification. But al Jahdali is under no illusions against the side that beat them 4-1 in matchday 1.

St Samuel took an early lead against Estresse Intenso with a perfectly placed free kick from Leo Sensini. The lead lasted until just before half time when Estresse equalised. But the Latin Crusaders came out strong in the second half and it was young Sebastien Atalanta that put St Samuel back in front with a quality header on the 58th minute.
Sorthern Northland
21-12-2007, 19:41
With three games gone the Sortherners sit in second place in Group D having won their last two games.

The first of those two games was against ashlaea, who fielded an illiterate team full of people dressed up as superheroes. Philosophers in SN have since been discussing whether this is some sort of parody on the fact they are anything but superheroes although most have come to the conclusion that the population of ashlaea are not smart enough to understand a parody. With the ashlaena's still working out their positions the Sortherners took an early lead through Diago Maran. Maran making a rare start was obviously eager to impress and saw his long-long-long range effort comically fly through the hands of the even more comically named superman in the ashlaea goal. 'The Haitian' then added a second for SN to score his second goal in three games.

After the second goal the Sortherners wary that ashlaea posed no threat relaxed and the half ended with the score at 2-0.

At the start of the second half though the SN team came out all guns blazing and Kim Min-Kim added a third in the fiftieth minute. Ben O'Bagels added a fourth five minutes later. And another five minutes later Feng Shui's weak shot trickled over the line with superman diving for it as if his boots were filled with Kyrptonite.

With this fifth goal the Sorthern players decided the game was wrapped up and left the field to visit the local pub. Rather surprisingly despite having half an hour playing against no one it wasn't until the eighty-eighth that the flash managed to score for ashlaea.

Following a match that can only be described as a warm up SN travelled to Kibbutz for a match that was actually competative against Scotchpinestan. The first half offered few chances and but Scotchpinestan took their chance chance of the half to go in one up at half time.

SN then equalled soon after the restart through Kim Min-Kim and after that the game opened up. Although it wasn't until the final fifteen minutes that chances actually came with both team going for the win. SN took the lead with ten minutes to go through a Jonny Sage free-kick but Scotchpinestan equalised almost straight away. The game looked destined to be a draw until Kim Min-Kim popped up in the final seconds off the game to head Sage's long rang free-kick into the net and give the Sortherners a second win.

The Sortherners play Ashlaea next in what should be another easy victory. After that SN then play Jeruselem a second time, although Jeruselem may already have qualified and be a bit more relaxed in this game, the final game then sees SN taking on Scotchpinestan again in what could effectively be a play-off match for second place.

Don't know quite how to say this, but, the Wombats blew it bigtime today. With a 1-0 with 6 minutes to go and Bard is lining up for a penalty kick. Sounds like Green wombat won right? WRONG. Somehow, the penalty kick hit off the crossbar, and within 6 minutes, Nire and Nire won the game 2-1, almost ending the Wombats chances at the winner's bracket.

Sorthern Northland in poor victory.

Anger spread across Sorthern Northland today after a poor victory against a pathetic ashlaea team. SN had previously beaten today's opponents 5-1 and were expected to deliver another thrashing but only struggled to a 3-2 victory.

The Sortherners didn't help themselves much when they scored two early own goals to put ashlaea 2-0 up. Asked about it after the game defender Corneal Corneal said, "We felt the first game against ashlaea was too easy and wanted to make this one more of a challenge so we decided to give ourselves a handicap."

Unfortunately the handicap nearly failed as a combination of ashlaea playing above themselves, banjos, cows arses and barn doors all saw the Sortherners struggle to score three past the incorrectly name superman.

Commenting on the performance one fan in Beningrad said, "It was pathetic, if they do that again I will personally go to Qazox and kill every one of them. Yes even the Dear Leader Ben O'Bagels.", in a statement that will shock the team and hopefully give them a kick in the arse.

Ashlaea were as usauel, poor today although their defence did well on some occasions, but Sorthern Northland can only blame forwards, Kim Min-Kim and Jing Mao for missing numerous sitters as well as other players who squandered great chances such as Xeng Xung, Diago Maran and Tom Tomsk. They will though have to thank young forwards 'The Haitian' and Benjamin Peacock for getting them out of jail. With ten minutes left the manager threw on the two forwards into a 2-4-4 formation in a desperate bid for victory and almost straight away 'The Haitian' found the net to bring the scores to 2-1. Just minutes later he set up Peacock, who saw his shoot curl into the top corner. Two two. Then in the final minute Peacock seemed to have rounded Superman in the ashlaea goal but a desperate rugby style tackle saw Peacock fall to the floor. A red card for superman and a penalty to S. Northern. Peacock duly got up and dusted himself down before coolly slotting home the winner. The manager after the game said who impressed he was with the two youngsters and revealed they would start ahead and Kim Min-Kim and Jing Mao in the next game against group leaders Jeruselem.

Jason Vallen's Oxen Cup 5 Blog....MD 5 Bostopia @ Ganja Vodka Park.

Well we're in the loser's bracket. A 3-1 loss to Bostopia and we have been eliminated from the championship part. The only good news is that Nire and Nire lost as well, so we're not in last in this group.

The next match is against Qazox. The only thing left to determine is where every team will be seeded in either the Winner's bracket or the Loser's bracket.

CURRENT SEEDINGS:
1- Jeruselem (5-0-0)
2- Qazox (3-2-0) +7GD
3- Sel Appa (3-2-0) +6 GD
4- taeshan (3-2-0) +4 GD
5- Bostopia (3-1-1)
6- S. Northland (3-0-2)
7- Cafundeu (2-2-1)
8- St Samuel (2-0-3)

9- Scotchpineistan (2-0-3)
10- E. Intenso (1-3-1)
11- Prux (1-1-3) -5GD 9GF (3rd in group)
12- GREEN WOMBAT (1-1-3) -5GD 8GF (3rd in group)
13- Jeru FC (1-1-3) -3GD (4th in thier group)
14- Lovisa (0-3-2)
15- Nire and Nire (1-0-4)
16- ashlaea (0-0-5)

In our projections, if the current seedings hold true, these will be the matchups on the final MD:

15th- ashlaea vs Nire and Nire
13th- Prux vs. GREEN WOMBAT
11th- Lovisa vs. Scotchpineistan
9th- Jeru FC vs. Estresse Intenso
7th- St Samuel vs. Sorthern Northland

Drew Cafundeu 3-3...Holy Carp!

007 had 2 goals in the 56th and 66th minutes, and Meatball sub scored in the 87th to tie it at 3-all.

Cafundeu scored in the 33rd, 72nd and 83rd minutes.

Despite the draw, we are condemned to the losers bracket.

Next is Lovisa, and we can clinch 3rd with a win or draw.

TOP 6 LIST
#1- Jeruselem (5-0-0)- If they sent nobody out against ashlaea, would they still win by at least 5 goals? Probably.

#2- taeshan (3-2-0)- That draw slowed them down, but still they are moving on, and can win group.

#3- QAZOX (3-2-0)- Hosts clinch against weak team.. whoop-de-freaking-do for them, let's see them against good teams, then we'll see how they do.

#4- Sel Appa (3-2-0)- Righted ship and looks like they might snag #2 seed overall with a win in the next match.

#5- Bostopia (3-1-1)- Will be a tough team to play in the knockouts, could make the final, if they are lucky.

#6- Sorthern Northland (3-0-2)- Other than losing to Jeruselem twice, they've done very well.

WORST TEAM:
ashlaea (0-0-5)- Might get lucky as Jeruselem might forfeit the next match... at least that's what they hope.

SN fuck up as cities burn.

Following two defeats in a row, (the first 2-0 to Jeruselm and the second 3-0 against Scotchpineistan), following a disappointing performance against ashlaea, President Ben O'Bagels has been forced to issue a state of emergency after fans across the nation took to the cities and rioted. The defeat to Scotchpineistan saw the Sortherners finish third in their group and sees them enter the losers cup.

Angry fans had threatened violence after the ashlaea game(whom SN play again in the losers cup), with one fan even threatening to travel to Qazox and kill each member of the squad including the President. Perhaps fortunately for the squad he was arrested and has since been sentenced to ten years imprisonment for considering to commit high treason and for avocation of violence. As a firebomb narrowly missed my head I managed to speak to a rioter who told me he was rioting, "to show the squad how much we care, and that we won't accept such poor performances."

Cities from Snowspire in the Northern Wastes far up North to Beningrad on the South coast and from Corcaigh in the far west to Castrograd on the eastern border have all seen large scale riots. In fact just about the only place to escape the violence is Swinedon (commonly know as Hell) whose idiots are currently throwing mass parties to celebrate the Sortherners performance. Partly from not wanting to go to such a shite place I've not bothered going to Hell and so cannot confirm rumours the far-right town is celebrating a failure they believe is bought on by not having an all white team.

http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4167/110500443dt.jpg
A car set on fire during the riots in Beningrad.

In an emergency statement made from Qazox, President O'Bagels pleaded with his people to calm down, and that riots would not help as they are only destroying their own cities. He also asked the nation for it support in regaining it's form. Rioters have since sacked and looted, the President's residence, the Houses of Parliament and the headquarters of the Sorthern Northland Football Association. Anything but a convincing win against ashlaea is sure to light up the sparks of anger seen across the country nation. Possibly thankfully the tournament will take a short break giving the people the opportunity to calm down. The players though are sure to get a cold reception when they arrive back home.

Dazza Dallas called a big press conference in Qazox. It was sure to be a big announcement if Dazza Dallas had something to say. Jeruselem's most famous francophile was the public mouthpiece for Jeruselem football, it had to be be a big announcement.

It was packed press conference with cameras pointing at a short attractive redhead in "slutty" business suit which tended to emphasise her curvy bits.

Dazza:
"In behalf of the Jeruselem Football Association, I thank everyone for being here. As you all know, or don't, the current Jeruselem World Cup coach Sark Kozy is retiring. That's why I'm here, and the team is doing great but the official World Cup coach for edition 39 has not been named yet. Today is the day! It's going be to be a day of firsts! The new coach of the Jeruselem World Cup 39 is a middle aged lady with three kids ... and she's Ariddian. Wait you might ask, that's sounds like Dazza Dallas. No, it's not me but I'm glad to announce it is Jane Sanderson of Ariddia! Jeruselem's first foreign coach! Yes, she was the coach of the Ariddian World Cup 38 team but she's is now ours. OK, technically she is Jeruselem's 2nd Ariddian coach as I am an Ariddian and Jeruselem citizen but she is not born here as I was. Any questions, duckies?"

"Ariddian coaches don't get paid, is the Jeruselem FA going to pay her?"

Dazza: "Of course we are, in Ariddia she lives in a commie system. In Jeruselem, she needs money to survive as we are capitalists."

"What is this bias for Ariddians?"

Dazza: "What's wrong with Ariddians? They have one of the best football teams around. As Jeruselem's ambassador to Ariddia, I think Jeruselem can learn from Ariddia."

"Wasn't Abrams Tunk a candidate?"

Dazza: "Yes, but he didn't want to apply. He was considered but he had to apply first. It was his decision."

"Another female coach, we've only had one male coach since World Cup 32 - after John who happened to be your father. It is this a deliberate policy to pick women?"

Dazza: "Well, not really. I had three cups which skewed the balance here."

"Will you be helping out Jane?"

Dazza: "She'll be moving from a commie state to the capitalist state with a monarchy. She'll be given time to adjust to a different environment where things run differently. If she wants help from Ambassador Dallas, she'll get it."

"How about a coach from say Az-cz or the Elves?"

Dazza: "I don't think that will work. I'm not someone who dislikes Gnomes or Elves but I don't think it's work very well."

"What about someone like Kelly Firth?"

Dazza: "Ah, my Bostopian counterpart. If she asked and there was position for her, she'd be considered indeed. For now, Jane is the girl! Err, woman."

"Will losing Skate be problem for this team?"

Dazza: "She's now running the country with her man. We will miss her but we have Kara Kool still. And Scooter is doing a great job as Captain in this cup too."

"Is Hose Tunk returning for next World Cup?"

Dazza: "He hasn't quite made up his mind yet. He wants to settle down with Sally, as football takes him away from home a lot."

"What about Hifkie Dallas?"

Dazza: "She'll be back. Her husband Peter Jeffers is here in Qazox, and I'm sure both of them will be back next cup. Hopefuly, we don't meet in the group stage again though."

"Are you ashamed your daughter Kate is half-Qazoxian?"

Dazza: "No, why should I? Ricky is good man! No such thing as inbreeding with the Dallas girls. One more question"

"If Jane coaches Jeruselem, could Dazza coach Ariddia?"

"Probably not, I like get paid for work. I have uphold my reputation as Jeruselem's highest paid whore."

A 2-2 draw with Qazox is nothing to be ashamed of, as it clinched 3rd place in the group for us and the unlucky 13th seed. Thanks to Lovisa actually deciding to win a match, we slipped down to 13th and will have to face Lovisa in the Loser's quarterfinals at Ox-Cola Field in Bruxen.

Lost to Lovisa 4-3 in a wild one

The Sphinx scored to open it up in the 15th minute, 007 tied it a 2-2 in the 36th, and Pies R. Round re-tied it at 3 in the 75th.

Lovisa scored in the 23rd, 30th, 53rd and 84th minutes.

That loss sets up against Jeru FC in the loser's bracket Qtrs.

TOP 6 LIST
#1- Jeruselem (5-1-0)- I think they fell asleep during the 2nd half, and that is why they tied.

#2- Bostopia (4-1-1)- Now definitely a favorite, given the draw they have.

#3- taeshan (3-2-1)- Out for revenge after losing the group to Cafundeu, Rematch in the Qtrs is either the luck of the draw or something else.

#4- QAZOX (3-3-0)- Win, Draw, Win, Draw, Win, Draw...So that means they will beat Sel Appa?

#5- Sel Appa (3-2-1)- How'd they lose that match other than resting players is beyond my comprehension.

#6- Cafundeu (3-2-1)- Won the group somehow but faces tough road to get to the finals.

WORST TEAM:
ashlaea (0-1-5)- Must've given the Princesses some Nyquil at halftime to make a comeback like that.

http://spaam.mrdrake.net/flags/sorthern_northland.png Sorthern Northland 4-1 ashlaea http://spaam.mrdrake.net/flags/ashlaea.png

Following a few days break in play and a convincing win over ashlaea tempers in Sorthern Northland have cooled in recent days after the riots that occurred after the Sortherners were knocked out of the main tournament. They have now progressed and will face Green Wombat in the semi-finals of the losers tournament. Residents in Swinedon however are still having running battle with the police after the Swinedon mayor released a statement saying the teams failure was due to "those dark bastards", referring to Corneal Corneal and strikers Benjamin Peacock and 'The Haitian' all of whom are black. The rest of the nation reacted by condemning the town whilst the towns minority leftist support engaged in running battle with supporters of the far-right.

The Sortherners though did play a game, against ashlaea. Although to tell the truth it was a bit of a non-event with Sorthern Northland having gone 4-0 up before half time with goals from Corneal, Peacock, "The Hatian", Kim Min-Kim and Jing Mao. In the second half the team relaxed slightly doing enough to dominate the game but not looking like they were too botherd with converting their chances. A late goal fro the flash was a mere consolation for ashlaea who will take place in one of the 13/15th place play-off games whilst Sorthern Northland look to advance to the final of the losers cup. The pressure is on and the players know the nation expects a win. Anything else and the riots of a few nights ago may flare up once more. All is takes is one small spark.

Finn Fumbles was looking what his daughter (not biologically though) Jacinta Dallas was doing. She'd come back from work at the Jeruselem FA with one of those Dazza Dallas smiles which meant she was up to something. She was sitting in front of her laptop watching the Jeruselem vs St Samuel game in Qazox while having dinner. Like her mother, she was a vocal person and got into the emotion of the game - even if she wasn't at the game anyway.

Finn: Hey Jacinta, what's up? I know something happened at work.
Jacinta: Hey Dad, I got a promotion. I'm the Event Organiser!
Finn: Oh the party person.
Jacinta: Yeah, I'm little party organiser! Not bad for 16 year old.

Finn: You only got that job because who your mother is.
Jacinta: When it comes to partying, we're the experts.
Finn: So what happened to the previous person?
Jacinta: They fired her after she refused to get bellydancers for a recent event.

Finn: So what? No bellydancers ... doesn't that matter.
Jacinta: It was for a fundraising event, with rich Arab Princes who love bellydancers.
Finn: Oh I see, so they hire a Dallas girl who doesn't care what morals they break.
Jacinta: Well, yeah! Pay rise too. I'm in charge of the Xmas party this year.

Finn: Looks like you and Kate have your mother's organising skills.
Jacinta: You'll get free ticket! Don't worry, I have the power.
Finn: Someone's got keep your mother under control. Don't want her to have too accidents.
Jacinta: Err, like me and Kate?

Finn: Yes, she is accident prone ...
Jacinta: Jane Sanderson is going be in Jeruselem soon, I have to organise her welcome.
Finn: I thought that would be a simple thing.
Jacinta: Not when you invite the Ariddian community in Jeruselem!

Finn: I keep forgetting you're partially Ariddian.
Jacinta: Only 25%, the rest of me is local.
Finn: Better let you watch Mum's team before the game finishes.
Jacinta: That's OK, I'm recording it too!

Finn: I'd better be going, I have things to do ...
Jacinta: GO KARA! COME ON KARA! GO KARA!
Finn: Great goal from Kara, reminds of me your mother when she was young.
Jacinta: It's a pity I didn't get any of those football skills.

Finn: That's OK, you have your mother's looks and brains.
Jacinta: I suppose I'll pursue my singing career since I'm a crap football player.
Finn: You're still my little girl even if we aren't actually related.
Jacinta: Thanks Dad

finnaly the real team appeared for this game instead of the very convincing acors in the first round of play who got us to the winners bracket. Well 2 cafundeus scored and buuba froalie scored in regular time two make it2-2. Then ijn penalties the lackluster cafundeu goalie let 3 shots past him by zeke, froalie and hele. then montague only let 2 of cafs shots in and the knights won.
In other news the salamanders lost yet again to sn and are in total denial of teamliness.

A great game all around by the Wombats as they upset Lovisa 2-0 to advance to the semifinals of the Loser's Bracket. The win ensures that the worst the Wombats can now finish is 12th. Bard and Diehl each scored a goal, in the 50th and 60th minutes respectively to lead the way. Up next is Sorthern Northland @ Fromburg Field. Lost to Jeru FC 1-0.

The lone goal was scored in the 83rd minute, when E. Nigma tripped over a rock that was thrown at him by Jeru FC fan.

The loss sets up the Prawns against Nire and Nire @ Ganja Vodka Park in Lake Porter City. The Prawns will face one of the few teams that are worse then them, at least in this tourney.

TOP 6 LIST (Records include Playoffs)
#1- Jeruselem (6-1-0)- They are definitely the favorite, given they play taeshan instead of Bostopia or Sel Appa in the semis. Anything less than making the finals will be a shock.

#2- Bostopia (5-1-1)- Scotchpineistan gave them a fight, but in the end the better team won, but faces tough opponent in semis, Sel Appa.

#3- taeshan (4-2-1)- Got their revenge against Cafundeu, but now can they knock off Jeruselem? If so, then this dark horse might win it all.

#4- Sel Appa (4-2-1)- Twice came back from 2-goal deficits and won a match they should have lost. Now can the pre-tourney faves play at the same level for a whole match?

#4- QAZOX (3-3-1)- Oh-for-five is not a good thing for the hosts, as they once again fail to win their own tourney.

#6- Sorthern Northland (4-0-3)- The best of the Loser's bracket teams, might be glad they didn't make it into the winner's bracket now.

WORST TEAM:
ashlaea (0-1-6)- They still somehow manage to score a goal in every game, and against Nire and Nire or the Prawns, they might win, as neither of those two teams can find the net consistantly.

Riots fail to materialise.

Following a three two defeat to Green Wombat in the final seconds of extra time, police in Sorthern Northland will have been preparing to take to the streets once again to quell riots bought about by the teams failure. However some six hours after being knocked out and the police have said that the only problems have been minor scuffles. Speaking exclusively to the Morning Star, one police chief said, "I think the difference tonight is that the team was unlucky, the previous riots all sparked up after poor performances against a team we should have easily beat and when we squandered our chances in the group stage."

Meanwhile on the pitch, the Sortherners will be ruing a poor display of referring that ultimately cost them the game. The first point of contention came after sixty-seven minutes, when Sorthern Northland already two up from a brace by Kim Min-Kim, saw a goal which had clearly crossed the line not allowed. A excellent bit of skill by Feng Shui, playing in place of the President saw a Green Wombat defender fall flat on his arse, as Feng delivered a crisp ball into the box. Kim then rose above the defenders to head the ball into the net. The Green Wombat keeper did get a hand to it and pushed it away.

It was clear to nearly 65,000 people in the stadium that it was a goal. The four people who didn't think it was though, were the four the mattered, the referee, the two linesmen and the fourth official. The Green Wombats keepers reaction should have showed them it had crossed the line as he beat his fist on the ground in frustration whilst the Sortherners were busy celebrating.

It was a shock then for the Sortherners when nearly ten seconds laters the referee had not blown his whistle and another ten seconds later when they saw him awarding a goal to the Green Wombats. A Green Wombat defender had played on when the ball was punched out of the goal by the keeper and with only three SN players realising the goal had not been given the eleven men of Green Wombat had little trouble in finding the back of the net. The referee this time had no trouble seeing the blatantly obvious. Mass protests from the Sorthern players saw all eleven players being booked with Xeng Xung and Kim Min-Kim being given a second yellow card equalling a red and an early bath.

It was to get little better for the Sortherners, down to nine men and with strikers Jing Mao and 'The Haitian' having already gone of injured, when the last remaining striker Benjamin Peacock went down with a pulled groin. With no subs left SN were reduced to eight men and putting defender Ivar Wrightson up front on his own. With such a small team left the Sortherners were left facing an uphill battle to hold on to the win. They performed immensely though, creating a couple of chances and keeping Green Wombat from scoring.

That was until the final minute of injury time though when contentious decision number two came. A Green Wombat striker had found his way into the box but tripped over his shoe lace. Corneal Corneal behind him had no chance of being able to stop himself falling over the body on the floor. The ball though however was where his hand landed. In no way shape of form could it be determined as deliberate and with no active Green Wombat players nearby he certainly didn't stop a goalscoring chance, but common sense was not with the ref today and a penalty was awarded. Aware that any more protestations would see more red cards and possibly an abandoned match, every Sorthern Northland player was forced to bit their lips as hard as possible and not say anything. Their best bet now was to hold out for a penalty shoot-out. Once the Green Wombat player had got up off the floor and realised he had a penalty to take, he almost apologetically, stroked it into the net.

With just eight men on the pitch and another thirty minutes to play, manager Kevaughn Ó Criothaim decided to park the proverbial team bus in front of the goal as he brought ever player back into defence in a perhaps not so revolutionary formation of 7-0-0. With no attacking outlet, SN had no chance of scoring and did well to only concede once in a thirty minute bombardment.

Speaking after the match Ó Criothaim was clearly angry saying, "The ref was a fucking disgrace today. Absolute fucking bullshit. The cunting wanker lost the game for us. I'll fucking kill the twat." After which he was taken off and cooled down slightly, well as much as someone in the situation can be. "First of all may I apologise for my earlier outburst, I'm certainly not taking it back though. But I want to not mention the arsehole again and concentrate on my team. I have only the highest praise for them today. To not get that goal and then see a goal scored against us straight away was heartbreaking. And the sendings off were ridicules. I cannot believe that not one official saw it go in. Absolutely crazy. But then with just nine and then eight men we again dug as deep as we could, those players put everything they had into it and then, well when the ref gives penalties like that what can you do? Did I really believe we could get to extra time? To tell the truth no, I'm surprised we only conceded one more to tell the truth, all I can say is I am absolutely delighted at the way my players played today and but for two awful decisions that game was ours. They would not have come back from three nil down."

Sorthern Northland will now play Estresse Intenso at the Toro Rojo Stadium in Las Vitas in the 11th place play-off. On a positive note though that must be all the shockingly bad refereeing we're due for the next four or so years? Surely?

"Win for Jane" says interim Jeruselem coach Dazza Dallas

Acting Jeruselem coach Lady Dazzarina Handiskya Dallas (or also known as the "Queen Mother" now) face Taeshan in a semi-final of Oxen Cup 5. The team of under 27s with new players has not lost a game yet but ironically had a scare with the worst team in the cup drawing them 3 ALL.

Dazza Dallas will make way for fellow Ariddian Jane Sanderson when the cup is over. The two women are very similar in some respects, an Ariddian with partner and three kids but we all know our Dazza is different person altogether.

Language is not an issue with Jeruselem team due to the team taking French classes as most of the last Jeruselem coaches were French.

With the recent win over the Latin Crusaders 4-2, Dazza's team face Taeshan who they have met before with a draw away from home in a World Cup 38 friendly.

If Jeruselem win, they face Kelly Firth's Bostopia or Sel Appa in the final. Dazza who happens to have a lot in common with Kelly Firth, said "I want a Jeruselem vs Bostopia final and this time we want to turn around that loss in the World Cup 38. I find it quite ironic - three of the four teams in the same group from the World cup are here in the semi-finals. But then Jeruselem, Bostopia and Sel Appa know each other well and we are all Francophiles too."

Jeruselem striker Kara Kool is firming as crowd favourite with the retirement of Kate Dallas (who is now Queen of Jeruselem). The young striker has the skills and looks to take over is a pin-up girl of the Jeruselem team. Young Fiskin Dallas is also popular, mainly due her name.

In other news, Jacinta Dallas was promoted to "Event Organiser" at the Jeruselem FA. She'll be organising Jane Sanderson's welcome as her first test in between going to school for end of year exams. When asked if the workload will affect her grades for her last year at school, her mother Dazza said
"Not really! She'll be top 100 like me and Kate. Anyway, we tend to walk out of exams early because we'll get bored if we stay the whole course. Actually, we don't study a lot ... stuff just sticks in our brains. The less stressed about exams we are, the better we do. I once had a hang-over before an exam, but I still passed with no issues. The only issue was staying awake."

Jason Vallen's Oxen Cup 5 Blog....LB Sorthern Northland @ Fromburg Field

A hat trick from Claudia Bard, including the winner in the 106th minute sent the Wombats into the 9th place match against Jeru FC in the Oxen Cup. Both teams traded goals in the 1st half, coming in the 27th and 42nd minutes, then again inthe 2nd half in the 56th and 78th.

Jeru FC is a better team than us, and so we should finish 10th, but with back-to-back wins in the Loser Bracket, we hope to continue this streak, as it will bode well going into the WC qualifers, which start in a month.

Lost to Nire and Nire in Extra Time 2-1.

Lone Prawns goal came off the foot of E. Nigma, that's right the keeper got a goal in the 87th minute, after a penalty shot was given to Prux. 007 had left due to a red card, and the Sphinx was off with a strained thigh, so no-one else could take the shot, as they just plain stunk at penalties. But just 20 seconds in the Extra Time N&N scored, ending the match.

The bad loss sets the Prawns up against ashlaea, the worst team in the tourney. But the way the Prawns have played, they might wind up 16th, and probably will.

TOP 6 LIST (Records include Playoffs)
#1- Jeruselem (6-1-0)- The day off gives them a chance to rest and prepare for taeshan.... I feel bad for taeshan.

#2- Bostopia (5-1-1)- Bostopia is one team that doesn't need a day off, but they got one, so never mind then.

#3- taeshan (4-2-1)- I hope they spent all day today practicing, they need it.

#4- QAZOX (4-3-1)- Only reason they moved up is Sel Appa had the day off.

#5- Sel Appa (4-2-1)- Only reason they fell is the had the day off.

#6- Jeru FC (4-1-3)- Definitely glad they didn't make the winner's bracket, right? 9th and 3 wins to finish is better than 8th and 3 losses to finish, right???

WORST TEAM:
ashlaea (0-1-7)- Finally got shut-out. So that means the Prawns are in trouble I bet.

Jason Vallen's Oxen Cup 5 Blog....day off

A rare day off and the team spent 6 hours preparing for Jeru FC and i think they have a chance, but the wombats will need help. In the main action today, taeshan shocked the world by knocking off the defending Oxen Cup champs on penalties to advance to the championship against former champions and the highest ranked team in the tourney, Sel Appa. I think the turtles will become the 1st two-time winners of the Oxen Cup, but taeshan will give them a fight.

Finally won again, as we avoid last place beating ashlaea 2-0, on two goals by the Sphinx. The win only bumps us up to 15th (of 16) so the Prawns still stink, but we didn't finish last.

TOP 6 LIST (Records include Playoffs)
#1- taeshan (5-2-1)- Knocking off the defending champs definitely earns them this spot.

#2- Sel Appa (5-2-1)- Another one-goal win, but the co-favorites made teh finals, and have a chance at history.

#3- Jeruselem (6-1-1)- Taeshan wanted it more, I guess, but now can they comeback from the hard loss?

#4- Bostopia (5-1-2)- Which team will show up? The one that dominated Green wombat and Nire and Nire or the one that coasted againt tougher competition?

#5- QAZOX (4-3-1)- Might get their best finish in the tourney since the 1st one, since Cafundeu is playing well below thier normal standards.

#6- Jeru FC (4-1-3)- Still in this spot due to the day off.

WORST TEAM:
ashlaea (0-1-8)- They must have ran out of juice after getting that draw w/ Jeruselem.

It's Dazza + 1 vs Kelly Firth at the Oxen Cup 5

While Jeruselem and Bostopia would have preferred to be playing in the final, both teams find themselves in the 3rd placed playoff. While Taeshan and Sel Appa play for glory - with Sel Appa now very wary of the team who defeated Jeruselem. We still think Sel Appa will win this game as Jeruselem lose their only game through PKs, and we think Sel Appa are a lot better at those than we are.

Dazza Dallas announced child number four today. Women rarely have kids at her age but then she is a Dallas girl. Same story, father unknown as with her last two kids who have only found out later after DNA tests.

Kara Kool spoke for the team today
"This may not be the final but we still want to win this one. Bostopia are a good team but they aren't the Gnomes and are prone to being erratic in form. We all know how good Peter Jeffers is, and how he's joined the Dallas clan by marrying brain-dead Hikfie ... I mean Dopey. We're committed to winning this game still. This is not going make up for our loss to them during the World Cup 38 but a little revenge is what we need now. We need to show Jane Sanderson we are ready for the next cup."

Fiskin Dallas spoke for the coach Dazza Dallas
"She's resting today. I know the fans wanted to see both Kelly and Dazza at the game together but Dazza is now eating for two. I think this will be the last one since it's rare for kids to be produced at her age so it's up to us younger girls to step up and keep going. I think Skate will be a good little breeder like her Mum."

[Griffis] And we've got some breaking news for you... reports are coming out of FA Headquarters that the current National Team will be retired after World Cup 40... the FA has assured us that this has not been a decision taken lightly, but with the players being aged 33 at the end of the tournament, they will be well past their prime.

A new large batch of promising youngsters is already being looked at for selection into the National Team for World Cup 41.

And back to the main sports stories, Bostopia are preparing for their third place match against Jeruselem...

Princesses take revenge on Bostopia

Sel Appa took the Oxen Cup 5 with penalty kick win over Taeshan. Taeshan's penalty kick luck ran out as the Turtles took the title on penalties after the scores were at 2 ALL. Both teams got the case of the wobblies but Sel Appa slotted in three kicks to Taeshan's two.

Jeruselem took 3rd spot edging out Bostopia 4-3 in a thriller. Peter Jeffers has a shocker of a day, probably because Kara Kool decided to wear a rather tight shirt for this game. It didn't affect her game but it did get the attention of the Bostopian defenders who spent far too much time look at her boobs.

Captain Scarlet Ferris aka "Scooter" scored the winning goal after getting crudely tackled in the penaly area although it looked more like the special training Dazza Dallas gives to her daughter.

Later in the day, Kelly Firth and Dazza Dallas caught up with old times.
