Aaaagh! This is so confusing! Can someone give me a crash course of what to do/how to do it, so easy that an 11 year old could understand it?

Have you guys read the stickies lately? It takes forever and much of it is only marginally relevant to whatever you want to know. My advice:
These forums are for roleplay. Roleplay is all about telling stories in interaction with others -- a bit like those party games where everyone contributes a sentence, or like improv in drama class. Start threads on topics that interest you; if people join them, respond to those people's actions with appropriate actions of your own, et cetera. (Just make sure you note that just about everything that happens on this forum is In Character, or IC. Only stuff tagged OOC, Out of Character, is the player speaking while everything else is copyright of the player's Emperor or President or Tarquin Fin-tim-lin-bin-nim-F'tang-F'tang-Olé-Biscuitbarrel the man on the street.)
If nobody joins your threads, your posts are probably too much like mine -- i.e. insane, incomprehensible, and silly. Take out some of the silliness and add an attention getter such as "Nuclear device detonates in my capital!" to the title, even if no such thing actually happens in the thread. And... well, that's all there is to it. The rest you learn by doing. (Never take advice from anyone if you doubt it's serious, either.)
Read the International Incidents Stickies, but not all of them.
