On the glorious day of 6 December 2007 (16 Frimaire 5107 HE), a group of non-German revolutionaries in the realm of Uberuberdeutschland declared their intentions to withdraw from this country and found their own nation based on logic rather than German nationalism. The government of Uberuberdeutschland responded harshly, sending their army to quell these resistors and regain control of the situation. However, this only further angered the rebels, who declared themselves a new and independent state and held back the troops of Uberuberdeutschland with their militia. In fact, the militia soon drove the army of Uberuberdeutschland from the area, which became the new nation of Imperium Scientium. A Parliament was quickly formed and elected as its premier Skeloj. Lojban, the logical language, was made the official language of the nation, and the French Revolutionary Calendar was adopted. Imperium Scientium is still in its early stages, and it has not yet ceased its war against Uberuberdeutschland, which refuses to acknowledge the existence of the Imperium.

Today, animal rights activists belonging to the militant organization called the "Animal Liberation Front" freed many chickens which were intended for food. Though the nation's overall food supply was barely affected, the government decided to intervene and establish new legislation. A new tax on animal products and meat was put into effect, discouraging corporations from selling such products but keeping the market open. It is hoped by Imperium officials that this will satisfy the Animal Liberation Front while still not pointlessly forbidding animal products.

In other news, the Parliament of the Imperium has voted on increased military spending to fund the war against Uberuberdeutschland. The military budget, however, will not be expanded too much because the government is more concerned about funding research, science, and education at the present time.

New legislation was passed today, legalizing euthanasia. No previous laws either allowed or prohibited euthanasia, and this new law merely made it clear as to what the official government position on the subject was. The legislation was passed after an anonymous female human was placed under extreme pain by an incurable disease. Scientists and doctors of the Imperium quickly tried to find a method to rid the human of her disease, but no such method was discovered, and the person requested to be euthanized herself rather than endure more pain while waiting for a cure that had a small chance of being discovered. Since the Imperium believes in separation of ethics (other than logic- or knowledge-based ethics), religion, and state, there was no reason not to grant the human her request. To ensure the legality of such an action, the new pro-euthanasia legislation was passed. Protests by religious groups following this incident were ignored.

Later the same day, neo-Nazi militants took to the streets of the Imperium's capital to show their presence and political affiliation and to spread their views. The Imperium's government does not approve of Nazism or any such beliefs which discriminate against people based on characteristics which are not easily alterable, such as gender or race. However, Imperium Scientium officials wanted to maintain the people's freedom of speech and expression, and so reluctantly allowed the neo-Nazis to march. However, the Nazis were told that they would not be given government protection and that any one of them who acted violently toward anyone else would be arrested immediately. Several people were jailed during the march, but no one was injured, and the march ended within a few hours of its start.

Meanwhile, Imperium armies today defeated a large group of Uberuberdeutsch troops and advanced into the Uberuberdeutsch city of Uberuberbonn. The flag of Imperium Scientium was raised over the city hall and all people who refused to follow Imperium laws were deported to refugee camps in the Community of -Wikipedia-, where they became regular editors. The city of Uberuberbonn was renamed Science City and officially incorporated into the Imperium. On other fronts, the war has mostly come to a standstill, though Imperium armies are planning to make use of Science City as a staging area for their next advance.

This morning, several groups lobbied for the appointment of a new government spiritual leader. Since Imperium Scientium is officially an atheist and non-spiritual nation, its government refused to appoint either a Catholic priest or a New Age guru to this position. Instead, the Parliament voted to place in this position a former schoolteacher and prominent scientist who immediately resigned and left the post vacant again. The government then ended the position permanently.

Later in the day, the automotive industry was protested against by citizens who demanded that the industry end its use of cheap foreign labor. The Imperium's government decided to intervene and has imposed tariffs on foreign cars so as to promote a workforce composed of citizens but not unfairly deprive the automotive industry of any labor.

Imperium troops today finished the fortification of Science City and began raiding the surrounding area. Several soldiers have been killed by Uberuberdeutsch defense forces, but the Imperium still plans to advance farther into Uberuberdeutsch territory tomorrow.

Today, the great nation of Hofkauzern has joined Imperium Scientium in the war against Uberuberdeutschland. This initially led to optimism about the war, but after several setbacks in the war effort, it seems that more still will be needed to defeat the Uberuberdeutsch armies. His Unholiness the Emperor of Hofkauzern, however, appeared confident in a speech he delivered today, and most still believe that the war can be won. It now appears to Imperium intelligence that the reason for today's defeats was the presence of several secret Uberuberdeutsch armies which had not previously entered the conflict. Parts of Science City were lost to the Uberuberdeutsch when these armies emerged; since Science City was a vital military corridor for the Imperium, this loss has temporarily ended their earlier plan. Government and army officials assure the populace that the advancing armies will be halted before any irreparable damage is done.

Many citizens of the Imperium were worried that an economic crash would result from the war; however, this has not turned out to be the case, and economists say that it will not be the case.

To further the war effort of the Imperium, the government has authorized a uranium mining operation in the rainforests of the nation. To minize the environmental damage, the mining has been limited to only certain areas of the forest. It is hoped that a nuclear threat might persuade the Uberuberdeutsch government to let the Imperium be an independent nation, and the uranium could also be useful in power plants.

Special Report: Battle of Science City

After yesterday's defeat in Science City, which redrew the Imperium's front lines at the Azhav River, it seems that the Uberuberdeutsch may yet be defeated themselves. Our allies in Hofkauzern have sent news of impending victory at Apocalypse Peak. On our own front, Imperium armies have begun to retake parts of Science City which the Imperium had earlier lost. However, Uberuberdeutsch troops are attempting to encircle Imperium soldiers while making their own invasion of Imperium territory. Luckily, their advance was halted, and a stalemate has resulted in the northern part of the city. In the south, no conclusions can be drawn yet about the outcome of the battle, though the Imperium has made some gains.

Daily News

Today, an activist named Otto von Hohenstaufen protested the lack of German minorities in popular television shows which were funded by the Imperium government. However, the government refuses to purposefully force certain quotas of any ethnic groups, be they minority or majority, to be shown on television, because this would be discriminatory:

"We will give positions to those with the best qualifications for the position, regardless of ethnicity, and this includes acting roles on television."
-Zaat Sdar, President of the Television Broadcasting Agency of Imperium Scientium

Several persons of German descent are protesting, claiming that the lack of Germans on television is due to government paranoia about Uberuberdeutsch spies.

In addition, the parliament of Imperium Scientium went further in their campaign against love and other useless emotions by illegalizing marriage and divorce. Since most citizens of the Imperium are generally reasonable and think logically, there has been little protest (apart from protest by German couples).

Stalemate in Science City

In Science City/Uberuberbonn, both the troops of Imperium Scientium and enemy Uberuberdeutsch troops have fortified themselves heavily. Neither side has yet been able to launch any conclusive offensives against the other. The Imperium advance into south Science City has mostly been forced to hold its position due to enemy operations, though one group of soldiers has passed beyond Uberuberdeutsch lines and is currently cutting off Uberuberdeutsch supply lines. The front lines have been somewhat redrawn, with Imperium forces taking parts of the south and Uberuberdeutsch forces infiltrating a small area in the north. However, until some breakthrough occurs, it seems that the battle lines may be at a standstill.

Daily News

Today, the Imperium sent an ambassador to the Meritocracy of Sci, requesting membership in the confederation known as the Atheist Empire. It wishes to end its current affiliation with Hampshire because Hampshire does not support the ideals of the Imperium. Furthermore, Hampshire is constantly growing, and the Imperium has little influence there. A reply is still being awaited.

Victory

In Science City, Imperium Scientium troops, strengthened by new reinforcements, have broken the enemy Uberuberdeutsch lines, thus re-establishing control over the city. Imperium troops then advanced into the countryside, surrounding portions of the Uberuberdeutsch army in the area. Ambassadors from Uberuberdeutschland are offering negotiations for peace.

New Affiliation

Imperium Scientium has been accepted into the Atheist Empire. This has led to widespread celebration among the populace.

News

The government of Imperium Scientium has made it clear that human cloning is entirely legal and can not be prohibited in the future in the Human Cloning Act. The government made this decision because there is nothing logically wrong with cloning in any way, and it would help scientific research.

Also, all nudity in the presence of any people other than oneself has been illegalized by an amendment to the Parliament's Sexual Suppression Act, which banned all sexual activity and anything done for the sole intent of promoting such activity. This is hoped to further stamp out any perversion that may remain in the Imperium.

Cease-fire

An uneasy truce has been negotiated between Imperium Scientium and Uberuberdeutschland. After many Uberuberdeutsch troops were captured as prisoners of war following their encirclement by Imperium armies two days ago, Uberuberdeutschland agreed to recognize Imperium Scientium's independence, but refused to make any other concessions. The details of a more permanent peace agreement are still being debated by both sides, and the ownership of Science City has not yet been decided upon.

News

In other news, employees of several automobile manufacturing companies with partial government ownership went on strike for a time, demanding incresed pay and better working conditions. The government has decided to grant workers their requests, even though this could prove somewhat harmful to the economy. The workers have ceased their strikes and are mostly satisfied.
