Once again it's time for the World Baseball Classic, hosted by: Neufundland. Qazox, coming of a finals appearance, appears to be one of the early favorites, along with Milchama and 3-time champions, Az-cz. Other teams that expect to contend are: Zwangzug, Liverpool England, Yafor 2 and Corneliu

The Team that went (9-1) 4 years ago is back intact and vastly improved, so nothing short of a title will be expected.

Yaforite Firebugs Roster

Style modifier is a totally Yaforite -2 - if there is such a thing as a karelan baseball team, the Grand Democratic Duchy is that. Good, strong pitching and terrific defense give the Yaforites their victories (if they can get any!), but their lackluster hitting can lose them matches (which is why they tend to try and play small-ball). Upcoming is the twenty-five man roster:

[Yaforites play at home without a DH, in as pitcher's a park as there can be. When there is a DH, Jarifar is inserted into the fourth place in the batting line-up].

[Position] [Name] [Bats/Throws] [Description]

3B - Caris Juir (S/R). Juir is a good defensive player (he gets dirty often and a lot, and has a strong arm). He has the attributes that one looks for in a lead-off hitter; speed, a high on-base percentage, and the drive to, ever day, in and out, give 110%. If he tries to steal too often, it may be because he can get on base so much, and does so, often by bunting.

SS - Arrin Jarridan (S/R). Jarridan is the best player on the Yaforite team. Not only is he a perennial award-winner for his defense (he is quick and has a thunderous arm, especially from the whole), but he is also the best player offensively. From the left side, he is a slap-hitter, sprinting out base hits and taking walks. From the right side, he his for power, accounting for his back-to-back-to-back 50-50 seasons. He has excellent speed, as well.

1B - Tyrius Valderrana (R/R). Valderrana is a rarity - a first baseman with some amount of speed. He can run fairly well, and field his position well, as well. He is in the line-up to provide some fair amount of power. Valderrana is also something of a surprise in the way he bats, since he is almost completely an opposite-field hitter, which can be both a weakness and a strength.

LF - Rabyn Zaranez (L/L). If there is a weak link in terms of fielding, it is Zaranez, who leads the team in errors. He, despite his fourth position on the team, is not a power hitter - instead, he is batting fourth for his ability to hit in the clutch. Zaranez not only has won award after award for his RBI abilities, but Zaranez is also a league leader in Batting Average with Runners in Scoring Position (RISP). Zaranez may not catch every ball, but he makes that up for his ability to drive them in.

C - Daaklen Kirjai (S/R). Kirjai is a very good defensive catcher. His greatest strength, it is said, is his ability to call a good game, which is a prized ability in a catcher. He also is very good at getting down and blocking balls in the dirt, though he can, like anyone, mess up. Kirjai, a switch-hitting batter, also possess a strong arm, having thrown out over nine tenths of opposing hitters in his career.

RF - Nan Judaron (S/R). Judaron is anything but a defensive liability. His massive arm in the right field allows him to reach the catcher or third baseman without even a bounce, placing it perfectly for the play. However, he often hits for extra bases as a hitter, but does not have much power.

CF - Tyrius Carian (S/L). Quick and dangerous, Carian is much more of a defensive player than an offensive one. With Zaranez a bit of a weakness, Carian and his skills make up for the fault, due to his excellent range and diving ability. His arm is not suspect at all, but his hitting is, because, while he hits from both sides of the plate, only his speed is above suspicion.

2B - Haridas Jyolt (S/R) If Carian is a second number-one hitter, than Jyolt is a second number-two hitter. He has the ability to bunt a runner over, to do things with a hit and run, and other such number-two hitter abilities. He also turns two well with Jarridan, and as a result, makes up a very good double-play combination.

P - Whoever.

Bench
SS/2B - Monar Calraahim (R/R).
1B/3B/DH - Garregan Jarifar (S/R).
C - Dagor Nelias (R/R).
C - Caristan Nelias (L/L).
LF/RF - Corvan Ta'an
CF - Melius Vankirior.

Starting Pitchers
RHP - Pedran Alvar. Alvar has an excellent fastball, with tremendous movement on his pitches. His fastball often reaches triple digits. In comparison, his slider looks wicked. When Alvar is on, he is untouchable.
LHP - Johan Rean. A "junkballer", Rean is noteworthy for the fact that he sets up his 87-mph fastball with a 64-mph curve, jamming lefties and righties alike.
RHP - Darius Hadagamerion. His fastball reaches up to 94-95 mph, but his abilities with his four off-speed pitched make up for it. He can defeat a team on his own and can always be counted on to be solid.
RHP - Davrain Karajad. His fastball hovers around 97 mph usually, and, with his quick-moving slider and dangerous curve, can be counted as the most solid starter on a very solid staff.
LHP - Raecher Harill. A left-hander with a big, breaking-curve, Harill may be the most suspect on the staff, but is probably the best number-five starter out there.

Middle Relievers/Long Relievers (come in when behind/tied)
RHP - Josain Villikan. Good long reliever with mid 90s fastball.
RHP - Corvan Macran. Stronger fastball, but weaker against lefties.
LHP - Gregan Xiarin. Good against both lefties and righties.

Set-Up Men (come in when ahead)
LHP - Maxin Cotras. Primarily a lefthanded specialist, can also get out righties.
RHP - John Stanford. Throws around 98 mph, can get out almost anybody.

Closer
RHP - Tyrius Validor. Throws around 104 mph, with three off-speed pitches as well. Has been untouchable in his career.

Nathan Ellis and Terry Quave had been two of the best players on the Zwangzug team that competed in the first two Classics. Now, however, things weren't quite as easy for them.

"...glad to be partaking in what I hope, like any fan, will be the beginning of a glorious tradition."

"Nate, no, you're reading the old transcripts."

"Oh! Right! Okay, something like this then. After a disappointing if uncertain conclusion, Zwangzug hopes to rise beyond-"

"No, Nate, that's still the old announcer's stuff."

"Oh, okay then. Here we go. We are honored to host this tournament-"

"No! No, we are most certainly not!"

"Uh, okay. This is it. Doooom!"

"Nate, we make up stuff. We don't read stuff that's three tournaments old."

"Huh?"

"We come up with the stuff that we're going to say as we're saying it. Here, like this. Zwangzug will have a new roster, stuffed with completely different players, for World Baseball Classic 4. Now, you want to read it on the air?"

"I thought you just said we weren't gonna read anything?"

Hegaboom to stick with guns

In another very lazy managerial move manager Kelly Hegaboom has decided not to change the lineup for the Milchama Warriors baseball team after last time's disgraceful semifinal appearance. The only changes in the roster are 2 half gnome players whose parents migrated from Az-cz. Though both of them suck at baseball their only purpose on the team is too insult the gnomes and get them riled up so bad that maybe we can beat them.

Style 0. Pitcher's Park.

Outfielders:
5 Kevin Jollins CF
7 Kory Marritt RF
4 Mylie Jacobs
21 Felix Sorano LF
8 Kelton Holland
9 Mariano Lolton

Infielders:
1 Ryan Thimes 2B
3 Martin Lofo
6 Eric Marfelo SS
10 Daan Holem 1B
14 Garrett Raritt 3B
16 Emily O'Neil DH

Catchers:
17 Maverick Ochoa C
12 Jessie Tool

52 Kny-Mrrk

Pitching

Starters:
27 Ken Helms- Fireballer whose array of 4 different fastballs has made him a legend in New Babylon for leading the Pirates to a league title.
31 Daveed Orwelt- A tricky curveballer who is a controversial choice for second starter because of his streakiness. A recent hotstreak has given people hope but...
18 Boo Terrell- Overall decent pitcher who just gets people out.
20 Gary Holms- Outthinks hitters to beat them despite mediocre to poor stuff. Led Milchama in ERA the last two years.

Relievers:
19 Satchel George- Nasty pitcher. Has just about every pitch under the sun, is also a spot starter.
25 Ole' Gomez- Where he got the nickname nobody knows but he's good.
82 Barry Ovaly- Weird man and pitches that way also.
23 Terry Collins- Two pitch pitcher but really really good with those pitches.
13 Oleg Channuck- Nasty screwball and knuckleball. Weird pitch selection.

Batting order:
1 Ryan Thimes 2B- Short, speedy, good contact hitter.
2 Kevin Jollins CF- Normally a leadoff man but just not as fast as Thimes. Does the same things though.
3 Kory Marritt RF- A 5 tool player who hits towering homers and actually reached his potential.
4 Felix Sorano LF- Another power man with speed. A terrible fielder but 40-40 potential makes up for it.
5 Daan Holem 1B- Pure power hitter with a sweet lefty stroke.
6 Garrett Rarritt 3B- A little power and a little speed. Just a great gloveman.
7 Eric Marfelo SS- Another great glove man with a lack luster stick. Has improved his hitting greatly though.
8 <Insert Pitcher Here>- Hegaboom used this to great effect in the MBL and now brings the pitcher hitting 8th to the international level.
9 Maverick Ochoa C- Actually a pretty good hitting catcher. Gets put back here based on reputation of catchers in Milchama in general.

Notes:
-NO DH in Milchama and with DH O' Neil bats 6th with everybody subsequently moving back one spot in the order.
-Bullpen goes top down with George as the closer.
- Milchamian pitchers consider it a disgrace to get taken out before the 8th inning.

"All right, Nate, what did you think of that?"

"Doooom!"

"...Like I said, we're making this stuff up. Live. On the air. Not stuff from last cup. Got that?"

"Yeah. Sure."

"So, tell us what stuff happened today."

"Taeshan got ten runs, and-you saw it, why are you asking me?"

"Because the listeners didn't, that's why it's radio."

"Ah. Yes.

The score was ten-two in the eighth. The runs had come fast and hard: both teams were defensively oriented, and ten runs felt astonishing. Abraham Nagasawa had been yanked in the fourth inning. Southpaw Victor Frun was on the mound for Taeshan, and Alexei Shiomi took his turn in the box for Zwangzug to lead off. Unsurprisingly, he struck out and limply returned to the dugout. Taeshan was five outs away from victory.

Then Pete Li came to the plate, taking the first pitch for the ball. Frun leaned in for the sign from Myers and the pitch came in. Li executed a drag bunt down the third base line. Zo came up with the ball, but Li beat the throw to Shakiri.

Zeke Fallopian was up next, and took his time, working the count to 3-2 without lifting his bat. On the payoff pitch, he lifted it to left field, motoring into second as Li came around to score. The count was 2-1 on O'Bannon when he homered into center.

That was all for Frun, who would not be the victor after all. Goeli Huns entered, and seemed to have what it took, inducing a groundout for Jefferson. 6-3, Diageo over to Shakiri.

Clint Barry fouled off pitch after pitch before hitting a sharp single into right. He advanced due to defensive indifference, and it paid off: Mombota singled, and Barry was safe at home in a cloud of dust. But Broadside would pop up to end the inning.

Zwangzug had made it 10-6, but it wasn't enough: the Zebras went 1-2-3 in the ninth, and Taeshan emerged victorious."

"Brilliant, Nate! I knew you had the stuff in you."

"What? Yeah."

Gnomes continue their win streak

Carrying on from last cup where they ripped off eight straight wins to take the title the Gnomes added a ninth to the list by topping Liverpool England 5-2. That puts the Gnomes exactly halfway to the amazing 18 game record winning streak.

The Gnomes were a bit wobbly early without Mt-Wl in the middle of the lineup and fell into a 2-0 hole in the top of the 3rd on a 2-run double by Liverpool England. And the bats really struggled with the Liverpool England pitcher working on a perfect game through six.

However once the Liverpool England squad opened the door the Gnomes went running through it. A leadoff walk to Kz-Mts was bad news as it lead to a sequence of: stolen base, run scoring single, stolen base, run scoring single to even the game up. After Kn-Ji walked, Tsu-Mura hit a two run double to put the Gnomes up 4-2. Dn-Stn hit a double in the seventh and was driven home by Kz-Mts for the fifth run. And that was all it took. Loto-Toto closed down the Liverpool England side in order in the 9th and the Gnomes had picked up their first win.

Up next is a good friend of ours in Quakmybush. While we like the Sharks we'll be hoping to pound their brains in then.

"It was absolutely amazing, they almost pulled it off, but unfortunately they got a bit tired towards the end and lost momentum. Its not often you see a small group of girls up against such opposition, but they did us proud".
These are the words of our Team Manager who seemed absolutely shocked that the girls could even score so many field goals against superior opposition. But, the trys kept coming and in an end to end game, it looked for a while like Quakmybush would be the ones who were as sick as a parrot. For a while there we were over the moon and if only the game had finished after 8 innings, Mallatrsland would have won it.

To be fair to Quakmybush though, they stuck it out and showed our girls the real way to play the game.

Better luck in the next game Girls!

First win not cared about as fans clamour for Az-cz match

Milchama baseball fans care only about one thing beating the Gnomes of Az-cz. After our apparent 1 billion game losing streak to them we only need to beat to win the cup. We are the most consistent team in baseball in every international event that we have played we have played in either the quarters, semis or finals in, but we have never won. Our obstacle through out the World Baseball Classic phase of play (straying from the An Archy phase of play which we all fondly remember by burning effigies of various players who failed) has been Az-cz who have mercilessly pummeled us into the ground in various stages of close games that we inevitably screw up. It was made worse last time when we were doing so well and them so poorly only to see them make a miraculous comeback to make the outrounds and beat us again.

So we won 6-5 against some team that's not even worth mentioning Felix Sorano hit a 3 run homer and Kory Maritt drove in some runs but it doesn't matter. We're better than just about everybody else we win all the time all we need to do is beat Az-cz or else this is again a lost tournament.

Felix Sorano hit a 3 run homer for Milchama and Kory Maritt followed witha few RBI's of his own as Milchama jumped on the Power early. But 3 RBI's by Mr. Goodbar and a 2-run HR in the 9th by Tob Lerone cut the lead down to 6-5. Ace Spade got the loss, giving up 6 ER in only 4.1 IP.

Game 2 Summary:
POWER 5- Yafor 2 4
The Power got their first win over Yafor 2, with the big blow coming of the bat of Whatchamacallit in the 7th, as it hit a 3-run triple to center to make the lead 5-2. Ace Club got the win going 7.1 IP with 8 K's and only 1 ER allowed. Goode N. Plenty had a throwing error int he 5th that led to the 1st two Yafor 2 runs. Ace Hart pitched a perfect 9th to pickup the save, after Jack Club gave up a 2-run HR to Tyrius Valderrana in the 8th.

Gnomes winning streak is shark bait

After picking up an opening day win to move to halfway to the alltime record winning streak the Gnomes were absolutely terrible against Quakmybush. From start to finish they were brutal and lost 8-1, and it could have been much worse. Quakmybush loaded the bases in every inning of the game. Scoring 4 in the first, 2 in the 8th and single runs in the 3rd and 6th innings. So holding Quakmybush to 8 runs was fairly miraculous. As for the Az-cz offense they were held to two hits and two walks.

The loss leaves the top of the standings well up in the air. Az-cz, Milchama and Qazox now all have losses. Of the big four, Zwangzug is the only unbeaten team. Ambrose Douglas isn't even here so making a guess at who's going to win the thing seems pretty foolish right now. Despite the signs to the contrary against the Sharks the Gnomes still have a good shot, but another performance like that will be pretty brutal.

Mallatarsland under 17 Ladies Rounders Team cause World Cup Upset

Corneliu 0
Mallatarsland 10

"OMG, they were fantastic", these were the words of a tearful Hermione Slange as she watched her team run off the pitch after a surprise victory against the athletic and manly team of Corneliu. "I just cannot beleive how well they played" she continued. "It was just awesome".

Two weeks ago, the Mallatarsland ladies team had not even heard of Baseball and here they are on the world stage, performing amongst some of the best teams in the world. The surprise of the night seemed to be the failure of the entire Corneliu squad to get near the bowling of the Mallatarsland throwers.

The most amazing thing were the ten rounders scored by the team against the odds. Apparently Hermione had read an article about a famous Babe called Ruth who was one of the first Girls ever to play the sport.

Back in Mallatarsland the fans are going wild and a set of Baseball/Rounders cards are being issued free with a stick of Bubblegum.

Come on Girls, your fans are right behind you!!!

"Welcome back. We've got all the highlights of the Zebras' 10-7 victory over Cookesland right here."

"...Yeah? What do I say now?"

"Anything. One of the highlights, maybe. You've got lots of stuff to work with, there were seventeen runs."

"Okay. Well, after Pete Li drew a walk to lead off the first, Zeke Fallopian grounded to third, and the fielder's choice got Li out. Billy O'Bannon would smack the ball into left-center, but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Li, in the meantime, was injured sliding into third, so Johann Longbottom replaced him, and was picked off during Jefferson's at-bat."

"Highlights, Nate."

"Oh. Right..."

"...representing the last chance for Cookesland, but Tobias Utopia induced a pop to Thiesen."

"Hey, look-the Az-cz Scroll calls us one of the "Big Four"."

"That's nice. Wait, who?"

"The Az-cz Scroll."

"Nate, haven't we established this? No copying other people's broadcasts. Give me that..."the only unbeaten team". This is why you don't copy, Nate, who knows if you're even right?"

One bad pitch in the 9th by Samuel H. Thomspon, who was throwing a perfect game until he threw a 0-2 change-up that hung up just enough for Yafor 2's Haridas Jyolt to lift it just over the leaping grab by Henry Gibson in centerfield. The loss dropps Qazox to 1-2 at the 1/3 part of the 1st round. Up next is a trip to Taeshan, one fo the better teams in the tourney. Qazox once again needs a win to get back to .500.

OOPS! A great run comes to an end

Ac-Cz 12 runs
Mallatarsland 0 runs

Ah well, it had to happen and against the greatest team in Rounders history, the Mallatarsland Ladies under 17 Squad have just suffered their biggest defeat ever. Admittedly, they took the field with sore heads having partied all night after their victory in the previous round of the competition, but no excuses, on the day we were crap.

"The Ac-Cz team were just too good for us, and although we wore our shortest skirts and our best stockings and suspenders, it didn't seem to phase them at all" said Hermione Slange, Team Coach.

Better luck in the next game girls!

"Well why do we suck?"

"What do you mean we're in second place with a 2-1 record and our only loss came to Qazox."

"That's pretty bad, we lost first off and we're in second place second off"

"What is with you people? When it comes to all other sports you have reasonable expectations, if we get to the quarters as a top 10 team that's good, if we make the second round of the U21 Cup that's good but when it comes to baseball it goes all out the window. You MUST be undefeated, in first place and you better have won by at least 4 runs or else it just wasn't good enough. I don't understand."

"Oh it's simple, baseball is the national sport. When you are a kid you play baseball when kids crawl out of the womb the first we do is give them a glove and a bat. I'm pretty sure some Milchamians learn to swing a bat before they walk and still have a better swing than walk. This is our game so we need to win at our game"

"Ok I'm going to admit that that is kinda crazy"

"Oh it's beyond kinda it is 100% ridiculously crazy but these are our expectations and expect these things to happen. Do losses happen, sure in a 162 game season or whatever but NOT in a tournament. We should be undefeated in a tournament and yet we are not so therefore there is only one conclusion, we suck. It's a pretty simple one actually but very true we suck."

"Ok, ummmmmmmmm..... You guys are nuts I"m going to another country where they are not crazy"

"Try Nedalia, I here it's nice in the summer time"

"Thank you"

Two teams seemed to be playing a different game

After their embarassing loss to Quakmybush where they played just about as poorly as is gnomely possible they needed to rebound. And rebound they did against the Mallatarsland ladies rounders. The Gnomes thrashed them 12-0 to get back on course.

The Gnomes put this one out of reach very early. After allowing a double with two outs in the first the Gnomes retired the next batter and then proceeded to throw up a 9 spot in the next inning, with every single player coming around to score. After an inning like that there wasn't much left for the Gnomes to do.

They added single runs in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings while only allowing one more hit the rest of the game to push the Gnomes back into third place.

In other news its mostly been struggles for the top teams. We mistakenly believed Zwangzug was undefeated but they actually lost on opening day. Milchama is also 2-1 while Qazox is really struggling at 1-2. Amazingly Vanek Drury Brieres is the last undefeated team. Anyone who guessed that should give themselves a big pat on the back.

Now next up for the Gnomes is Corneliu. Their win over Oliverry was nice but a 10-0 loss to the Mallatarsland team is baffling. The Gnomes expect to roll through that game.

When the Gnomes got a hold of the Mallatarsland newspaper back in the team hotel they all had a good laugh. Various comments could be heard coming from the players such as:

"It's not suprising a nation of sexist pigs is that dumb."

"Az-cz is only five characters long. How could you get two of them wrong?"

"Good lord they love their commas. Twice as many commas as periods. Who'd've thunk it?"

"Those were their best stockings and shortest skirts? Have them visit my little sister, she'll do them up with sexy kits just right."

"What kind of nation lets their under-17 year old girls get hammered, much less the night before a big game?"

Suffice it to say, Mallatarsland's stock fell greatly in the eyes of Az-czzers with that report.

More Comma's than Periods

The Mallatarsland Ladies were amused by a report from the Az-Cz Dwarves regarding their Sexism, drinking, short skirts and over use of Comma's. In Mallatarsland we call periods full stops. Periods mean something entirely different and certainly would not be reported on by a team of ladies. The Legal Drinking age is 14 and getting hammered is a national sport. Short skirts are worn due to wool being in short supply and spelling is difficult because the girls have to leave school at the age of 11 to start work in the Uranium mines.

The ladies are looking forward to their next meeting with the Dwarves and hope to only lose by 9 or 10 goals.

"Now this is the kind of stuff we like to see: it felt like every pitch could have decided the game. Talk us through it, Nate."

"...Why?"

"Because it's our job, that's why."

"Oh, yeah. So, the game started with Randy Hendrikson on the mound for Zwangzug...or maybe when Li led off, I don't remember. Anyhow, in the fifth, Mombota was hit by a pitch. Broadside singled to right, and Mombota moved over to third. Thiesen grounded to shortstop, but Mombota came in to make it 1-0.

With one away in the sixth, Uiri tied the score on a solo homer, but Clinton retired the next two batters. In the eighth, Zwangzug could take the lead again: Fallopian doubled, and O'Bannon's hit drove him in. Utopia gave up a leadoff walk in the ninth, but set down the final three to give Zwangzug a victory."

"The Zebras move to 2-1, and will next face Vephrall."

"Who are 2-1 as well, with a winning percentage of-wait, what?"

"Never trust Qazox, Nate."

OOC: Mallatarsland, not all RPs would be accesible IC.

When the players saw the next report they were absolutely in awe. Apparently a reporter with a tape recorder had broken into the team hotel and tape recorded the Gnomes conversations about the Mallatarsland team. While this was on some level upsetting they generally just thought it was awesome.

The general consensus of the team was that if your average reporter was able to sneak up on the Gnomes like that then the country must be full of mad awesome sneaks. The Gnomes thought that despite the flaws of the country they might make good friends nonetheless and could well be awesome at kleptochase, kleptoball, kleptodance, and so on. So the Gnomes sent an official letter of friendship to Mallatarsland inviting them to send a delegation to come to Az-cz to sample our sports and lifestyle.

It is important that the peoples of Mallatarsland learn new games and sports as we try to take our place on the world stage.

In a speech to the nation, President for Life Mallatar said "To be invited to visit by one of the worlds premiere sporting countries is an honour and one which we would be stupid to refuse".

"...and after that doubleheader, Zwangzug drops to two and four, forcing consideration that this might have to be a "rebuilding" tournament."

"Well, the team's sort of brand new."

"Yeah, but stuff like that has never gotten in the way! I mean, there was an all-new team for the first Classic."

"If it was the first, it wouldn't be classic, wouldn't it? And everybody was new."

"There is that. Talk us through the Prux game, then."

"Well, Ace Club took the mound for the Power, and did an overall stellar job in stymieing the Zebras. Heath Barr doubled to drive in two runs for Prux, but Billy O'Bannon's sacrifice fly scored Pete Li to make it 2-1. A misplayed grounder by Bianca Thiesen let Whatchamacallit come in. Zwangzug tied the score, however: Broadside would slap a hit into right that brought in Mombota, and Samuel McAlpin, pinch-hitting for Larry Chicago, singled to score Broadside. It went down to the ninth inning: Jack O'Lantern hit a powerful drive down the foul line: it was hard to see, but it hit the pole. Four-three was the final, in Prux's favor."

"And Milchama?"

"Yes: the infamous Kelly Hegaboom only got crazier when he chose starting pitcher Daveed Orwelt to lead off the game."

"Yeah, but Orwelt homered."

"And it just got weirder from there."

"Indeed: Lars Love was hit by a pitch to force in Clint Barry for Zwangzug's first run, and..."

"So we're looking good, the best team in prelims, quarterfinalists where we don't play Az-cz"

"Are they in?"

"Who cares? They'll win again, as usual, and we'll fold like Horowitz in outrounds against them 3-0 sweep here we come"

"Wait you are being waaaaaaaay to pessimistic here we're on a winning streak, we're not against Az-cz yet therefore we could win or at least beat LE"

"Very true but does it really matter?"

"YES! We can support them unconditionally and then get horribly heartbroken when we lose to Az-cz in the end"

"So then why would we get behind them?"

"It's fun to win"

"Fine we won already, we had our moment of glory the group stages so why continue when we know that pain shall be the outcome"

"We could try Margaret..."

"Now that is the most reasonable idea I have heard so far from you today, and we shall do it, tomorrow!"

"Ok!"

"Despite winning 14-4, Zwangzug fails to advance to the next stages."

"The former hosts didn't seem like they were really putting their hearts into it."

"What, Nefundland?"

"Yes, of course."

"Just checking."

"I assume you want me to say something about the game?"

"That would be nice."

"Ace Abraham Nagasawa picked up his first win of the tournament, making it through five innings. The game-winning run came in the third, with Li scoring from second after Fallopian's single."

"Excellent, Nate, that's the kind of stuff we like to hear...just more so, okay?"

"I don't like the nickname "Nate"."

"What?"

"Never have, to be honest."

Interest in the baseball team had faded. After the soccer team won the world cup the baseball team knew that they would have a hard time winning the hearts of Az-czzers back. Add in competition from sources like the U21s and the exciting, if ultimately not big enough, gridiron squad and the team was justn't getting that many fans.

And when the hosts overruled the earlier declared forfeit in the Corneliu game and the Az-czzers lost the replay the fans decided to blow off baseball even more. That lead to something never before seen at an Az-cz sporting event; empty seats in the Az-cz fan sections for the games against Oliverry and Vanek Drury Brieres.

But the team managed to soldier on to tough victories, with the last win coming against Vanek Drury Brieres on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the fourteenth to see the Gnomes through to the next round, as the second seed none the less.

So despite troubles the Gnomes were champions still. Yet despite heading into the games against Vephrall as the favorites, and with rivals Qazox and Zwangzug out of the tournament there was still a mudville feel to the Az-czid sqaud. The few Az-czzers who were still watching the tournament had bought into the idea that even if Az-cz beat Vephrall Milchama would finally get their revenge for the previous three tournaments and eliminate the robbers and be the second nation to lift the baseball title.

Unbelievable! Milchama Wins! Milchama Wins!

In one of the greatest games of baseball ever played by the Milchama Warriors they won their first final in baseball and their first final in any major sports since the CoH back in World Cup 29 beating the Corneliu Pirates 3-1. Celebrations simultaneously erupted across the country with the victory, with a victory parade scheduled tomorrow in Alexandria at 11 am. Milchamian Legend Kelly Hegeboom said, "This is all about the lads. Anybody who has played for the Warriors in international baseball and anybody who has participated in baseball at any level." Then he got drowned by champagne by adoring and celebrating players.

The old Milchama players and manager Jack Yosefon were all in attendance and rushed the field after the proceedings ended to congratulate the current players and were key parts of the celebration. Even legendary soccer player Marc J. Floren was on hand to watch the game.

As for the game itself Ken Helms started against noted Corneliu righty Travis Martin. Helms had won game 3 for the Warriors in both the quarterfinals and semifinals and Hegeboom had got some critics who felt that 2nd starter Daveed Orwelt was ready for the task was turned down.

Early on Helms showed no ill effects of the short rest as he retired the side in order in the first inning. Martin did the same for the Warriors, who were in for a very stunted offensive afternoon. The second inning though the Pirates broke through as a leadoff single by Aaron van Slyke, a bunt by Kevin Anderson then a double by Jason Giles brought in one run. Martin nursed the lead having a perfect game for 5 innings while Helms only let one more runner on base as Aaron van Slyke would again single but be caught out on a double play.

In the 6th inning Milchama rallied for the first time after 2 straight walks by Eric Marfelo and Ken Helms ended the perfect game but Martin still had the no-hitter going. Anyway a double play ball from Maverick Ochoa put Marfelo on third with two outs and leadoff hitter Ryan Thimes, with a .392 average for the series, up at the plate. Thimes couldn't do anything with Martin's wicked curveball and struck out to end the threat. Helms also labored in the 6th inning giving up a leadoff double to Peter Alexander before issuing a walk to Glenn Robertson. This led Hegeboom to take Helms out and put Orwelt in to finish off the 6th which he did quite quickly turning a triple play after a bad base running error by the catcher, Robertson.

With the game getting late the Warriors still could not produce any offense as Martin shut them down without any problem in the 7th inning keeping his no-hitter going. Several pessimistic Milchamian fans left the ballpark during the 7th inning stretch as they didn't want to punish themselves by going through the torture again. This looked especially true as Aaron van Slyke hit the second pitch from Orwelt off the top of the wall for a triple. Two strikeouts and a pop up later though the lead off triple was all for naught.

With 84 pitches Martin came out for the 8th inning and it all fell apart. Daan Holem ended the no hitter on the first pitch to him as he lazered the ball off the wall for a double. Rarritt then bunted him to third and Hegeboom pulled Marfelo to have Emily O'Neil come in to pinch hit. The Milchama DH (when used) and first girl in the side came through with a long fly ball to left which scored Holem to tie the game at one. Martin retired the other two hitters with little problem though Ochoa did have a 12 pitch at bat before striking out. Ole' Gomez came in for Orwelt and retired the side in order to have the score tied going into the 9th inning. We now bring you the commentary of the Milchamian commentary team Steve Mckenzie and Kenny Merrick.

"It's the 9th inning with everything to play for the Warriors are up with the top of the order. This is a perfect place to take the lead."

"I couldn't agree more and especially with Martin out of the game after throwing 108 pitches of 1 hit baseball. Somebody will have to produce a miracle for me to see anybody else being the player of the game."

...

"Thimes up the count is 1-1 and the reliever Gary Jacobs delivers it's hit a grounder to the hole between short and third, it's too fast for a charging Jason Parker and Van Slyke gets a glove on it but he can't make the play that's a key leadoff single for Thimes."

With Thimes on base Jollins showed bunt but it was only a front for Thimes to steal second base. Then Kevin Jollins shot a line drive past the third basemen to drive Thimes in and take the lead. A double play by Kory Marritt put nobody on and two out and it looked like the Warriors were only going to get one but then Felix Sorano came up...

"Sorano up and nobody on. He's been strugging in outrounds 1-14 but he still has power so you never know. Anyway here's the pitch from Jacobs it's low and Sorano gets it and I mean all of it, it's still going up up GONE! HOME RUN HOME RUN HOME RUN MILCHAMA LEAD 3-1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD WE COULD WIN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"THIS IS INCREDIBLE! Sorano got every little fiber of the ball and crushed the living hell out of it. I don't think I've ever seen a ball hit that hard. I can't believe this is happening!"

Holem grounded out to bring about the bottom of the 9th and Satchel George came on. He started poorly giving up a single and then a walk but Hegeboom decided to keep him in to face Patrick Nimitz, which was a good idea as he forced the lead runner to be out. Then he picked off the runner on first but walked Aaron van Slyke who also stole second to put runners on second and third with two outs.

"It all comes down to this. Infield back for the Warriors but it's second and third two outs and Kevin Anderson at the plate. This is what dreams are made of, two outs in the World Baseball Classic with runners on and you're at the plate. George delivers low 1-0 the count."

"That's a poor pitch to start him on, the slider hasn't been getting many people out and now he's behind."

"George, from the stretch takes the wind and the pitch low again 2-0, another slider I think."

"I don't know if it was a slider but it was some breaking pitch and I think Anderson is taking until he gets a strike or he gets a fastball down the middle. Just throw the ball away and it should be a strike."

"Well George throws and it's a fastball right over the plate for strike 1, 2-1 the count now. George though might be back in business well he's certainly working quickly he's already up there ready to pitch and he's the delivery it's down and Anderson swings and hits! FOUL! 2-2 the count though"

"That was lucky it was past Holem at first, that would definitely have been a double but it landed foul so all's well that ends well."

"Agreed and Satchel George gets ready to face Kevin Anderson. 2-2 the count the bottom of the 9th with Milchama leading 3-1 with runners on second and third with two outs. George ready and the pitch it's a splitter Anderson swings HE MISSES! BUT THE BALL GOES PAST OCHOA! Anderson is going to first! Ochoa pounces on the ball throws... HE GOT HIM! HE GOT HIM! GOT HIM! HE GOT HIM!

"YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"UNBELIEVABLE MAVERICK OCHOA THROWS OUT KEVIN ANDERSON TO END THE GAME AND THE WBC WITH MILCHAMA WINNING! MILCHAMA WINS! MILCHAMA WINS! MILCHAMA WINS! This is unbelievable. The players are rushing the field, the fans are rushing the field it's going to be a wild party tonight."

"Bye"

"What?! My partner has just left for the field and so will I good night everybody."
