Northern Bettia

The FANB accepts their invitation to the Oxen Cup **rubs hands together evilly**, and they've decided to opt for the swiss-style tourny, simply cos it sounds rather funky.

Sel Appa, as Defending champs, Will be #1 on the invite list.

As for the other question, by VDb, The Oxen Cup is a Non-KPB tourney, that usually involves invited teams. It IS NOT in any way affiliated witht he WC or its offical tourneys, the BoF and the CoH. It's an extra chance to hone your RP, and for something to do while the CoH and or BoF are going on and you are not involved with either.

We're not defending, we're former titlists. Az won the third CUP I think.

Instead of groups here is what we do:

Each team has 5/6 preliminary matches against other teams

The 1st 2 of those matches are random. The rest are dependent on record and goal difference. Then the either the best 2/4/8/whatever teams that have the best records advance.

So here is how it would work using me as a hypothetical example:

MD 1: vs. Lovisa L 1-0
MD 2: vs. Collonie W 2-0
So now I am 1-1 so the host would look at all other 1-1 teams and place me against the team that has the GD opposite of mine rankings wise. So if I was ranked number 2 in GD in a 4 person bracket I would face the 3rd ranked team in GD.
MD 3: vs. Jersuselem W 2-1
The same things goes for MD 4 only I'm in the 2-1 bracket now.
MD 4: vs. Sel Appa W 4-0
The same thing again.
MD 5: vs. Northern Bettia L 5-4
So I go 3-2. Assuming 8 teams advance first comes record so all the 5-0s/4-1s advance. Then for ranks and if any of the 3-2s advance would again be determined by Goal difference

After this stage it's a regular knockout tournament, sudden death and all that. Actually I'm not quite sure how ties would fit into all of this. If somebody has a suggestion they could tell me.

This sounds more complicated then it really is, the system is really just like a league format only instead of 38 or whatever MDs the whole league happens in 5 getting rid of randomness of who plays who when but making it more complex to come up with matchups.

If anybody is confused, which wouldn't shock me, just ask and I will try to clarify the best I can.

Sounds like a True-Swiss tourney to me. Which is that every team plays the same # of games until all games are complete, instead of a Swiss-elimination in which every one goes until there's one unbeaten team left.

A true-swiss tourney is a Round Robin, but instead of a fixed schedule, its determined by the teams' record. Just slightly different.

Well what I am describing is not a round robin because not everybody plays everybody else and there are no groups. You play 5/6 different teams and then comes the playoff rounds.

That makes 11 teams. So i either need 1 more confirmation or I might withdraw Qazox to leave an even number of teams.

Based on the votes, subtracting my vote, the 4 groups of 4 wins. But since there will be 10, 11 or 12 teams, this isn't practical. So here is the breakdown

10 teams:
2 groups of 5, single round-robin, top 2 in each group advance to semis.

11 teams:
2 groups of 4, 1 group of 3. Double round-robin for the group of 3, single for the 2 groups of 4. Top team in each advances to semis, while 2nd place in A & B playoff for final spot.

12 teams:
3 groups of 4,single round-robin, top team in each group advances to double round robin finals.

For More intersesting groups I've decided to go with the following format:
