The Oriental Football Cup
La Copa Oriéntale de Fútbol
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t156/daehanjeiguk/DYCGGP-2.png
The Imperial Football Association of Daehanjeiguk (the Great Han Empire) wishes to invite those countries that adhere to the following requirements in a new football tournament in the Empire proper. The purpose of this tournament is to bring together the history and heritage of worldwide ethnic Han peoples, to include the commonly called peoples of "Korea", "China", and the "Philippines". For this reason, the Imperial Football Association feels it is most appropriate for the home Empire to host this tournament to bring back the descendants of those many progenitors of the ethnic Han abroad. By hosting this tournament, we wish to test the bonds of familial strength and learn of the fate of our brothers and sisters abroad, and to forge a new friendship with those countries that host these populations. It is with great pleasure that the IFA announces the inaugural Oriental Football Cup.
---=+++=---=+++=xxx=+++=---=++++---
Countries wishing to participate in the Tournament must satisfy the following requirements:
The country must be recognized by the Imperial Ministry of Foreign Affairs; OR
The country must have a sizable population of ethnic Han (Korean/Mandarin/Cantonese/Chinese/Filipino), whose heritage has in some part contributed to the country's modern establishment; OR
The country must have a significant population of ethnicities considered to possess a heritage closely tied to ethnic Han heritage (Japanese/Vietnamese/Thai/Malay/Mongolian), whose heritage has in some part contributed to the country's modern establishment; OR
The country must have declared its official languages to be the same as those of the Empire (Korean/Chinese); OR
The country must have been at one time a protectorate or tributary state of the Empire in its history.
Those countries wishing to participate must supply proof of the requirements established.
Thanks to Ariddia for NSWikifying this Cup before I could (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Oriental_Football_Cup).

Manager
Asanta Webber
Age - 20,434
Despite what many would consider a dissapointing showing in the inagural first Oriental Cup, Asanta was brought back for the second edition. With a tournament expierence in hand, and granted a full three month training with his squad, Webber feels confident that results will be more favorable to his side this time around.
Assistant Manager
Sag Yan
Age - 17,900
Despite all his gifts in preparing the team fitness wise, Yan wasn't able to help Webber get this team to perform up to expectactions. Yet the EFA decided to give both managers mulligans and a little bit more freedom to work the squad. Having gotten along with Webber decently in the first tournament, it seems these two rivals in the EPL can coexist in management, now if only the results would come, it could be a challange to the Contant-Titenburg hold on the regular senior squad.
Keeper
4 Manuel Lee, Sharala FC
Age - 1211
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 169 lbs
A decent keeper who uses his tall frame to its fullest extent. What keeps him back from rising to the elite in the nation is the lack of consistancy. All too often he will have a stellar game where nothing can penetrate his net, followed up by a game where he can't save the most basic of shots. His performance in the league has gotten better, and he looks to now showcase his talent for a potential move overseas in this tournament.
Defenders
13 Tagouchi Mahaska, Char Sara Inferno
Age - 887
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 172
Now seen as one of the premier defenders in the top flight of Elven football, Tagouchi has grown from the elf he was four years ago. Both in ability, and in stature, with a full three inches. He spent last summer with the Titenburg family, and it seems to have helped him build on his footwork, strength, and endurance, which he was lacking before.
5 Quinton Sars, Wexax United
Age - 790
Sex - M
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 159 lbs
Sars is just not there yet, but is getting close. His main problem is his vision to recongize when his mates are making runs, and moving into open areas. With some more expierence, he could cash in on his potential, and move to one of the big five clubs. A good showing here that he is on the right track, and that move may be sooner rather than later.
19 Apolla Wie, Juavi Reds
Age - 641
Sex - F
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 146 lbs
Another product of the many footballing acadamies in the nation, Wie came through the newer Night Footballing Academy in Raynor City. Established by the great Zacharius and Kyla Night, Apolla was gifted with some of the best intructors and managers to have taken to the pitch in the ESF. While not the best of markers, she has the footwork to make the best of her frame when in close quarters with her mark.
Midfielders
27 Alex Wahn, Raynor City Rockers
Age - 798
Sex - M
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 168 lbs
A tough and versatile man in the middle. His pace is his greatest strength, and he has learned to use it quite effectively on breakout runs and supporting his backline in the crunch. While he hasn't blossomed into a superstar yet, he is budding into a good playmaker.
32 Roger Zensan, Cathedral Spooks (Assegai)
Age - 950
Sex - M
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 183 lbs
A great distributor of the ball, he is the perfect mold for the attacking central midfielder that the squad employs. After a great career with the Mar Sara Flames, he went on to the Assegai squad and was a key contributor in their run to the second place finish they had last season. With a callup and decent showing in the senior squad during the last World Cup, this elf has nothing to prove but on where he ranks amongst the greatest of central middies in the history of the nation.
12 Kawi Marl, FC Longview
Age - 845
Sex - F
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 154 lbs
A lovely face gifted with a world class ability to cross the ball. With her sister Hess a professional surfer, you can't doubt this ladies athletic ability or her commitment. She will leave it all out there on the field, and her oppenents will know where she is at at all times, or find themsleves down a few goals.
6 Christina Osarius, Baysleef Bombers
Age - 593
Sex - F
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 149 lbs
Although this young lady has yet to become a regular at Baysleef, she usually factors in the outcome of the match. Unlike Marl who can play in the middle, Christina is exclusively a winger. Her first touch is decent, but when she settles the ball, it is a difficult job stripping her of it. Her crossing is developing nicely for her age, and is becoming more consistant. Yet she has taken a small step back on her defensive awareness, but it was never her strong suit in the first place.
Strikers
2 Yan Kips, Penders (Cafundeu)
Age - 915
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 168 lbs
Yan used last tournament to make his move to Penders, and has settled in nicely. You can bet on him finding the net at least twice in this tournament, and assisting on another. With Rikard making way, he could find himself on the starting eleven in the senior side when qualifying rolls around, all Constant needs is one more good showing against quality to be conviced.
15 Zeph Yan Yin, Hondo Owls
Age - 1050
Sex - M
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 153 lbs
One of the best pure strikers in the Premiership, he made quite the splash when Hondo was promoted from the Star League. Having spent the majority of his career in the lower leagues is the only reason why this dangerous forward has not seen international duty. His scoring touch is only behind that of Kiso Night and Jere Jannian in the Premiership when it comes to ESF-born players.
9 Trian Defecta, Hondo Owls
Age - 915
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 167 lbs
While not the all around great striker that Yin is, Defecta is one of the hardest working players this squad has. His dribbling skils might be completely non-existant, but he works hard to get into great positions to knock in goals whenever the oppurtunity presents itself. He is one of the best headers of the balls, and does tend to score the majority of his talleys in this fashion.

Sorthern Northland
11-10-2007, 20:06
Manager: Feng Shui, 82 year old who will also be a member of the playing team, was one of the stars of Sorthern Northland Oxen Cup 2 campaign and is a hugely popular member of the national team. Not the fastest member of the team by any means but his trickery with his feet more than make up for a lack of pace.
Goalkeepers
1: Kim Suk-Yang: 21 year old from the streets of Beningrad's Koreatown, his family fled to Sorthern Northland from Pyongyang during the Korean War. An eccentric keeper who is and excellent shot stopper but prone to errors.
13: Li Yang: 22 year old goalkeeper of Chinese descent, previously found in the Chinese gangs that walked Chinatown in Beningrad. Signed a professional contract with Beningrad FC just before the last Oriental Cup and is a keeper of great promise who is widely tipped to become a star of the national team as long as he stays away from the gangland wars that have recently erupted between Sorthern Northland's Korean and Chinese communities.
Defenders
2: Dong Lee-Si: 27 year old right back, straight outa Koreatown, well known around the Beningrad restaurant scene as the chef at one of the top Korean restaurants in Beningrad, one of the few members of the Korean community that was accepted by both Koreans and Chinese when fighting broke out between them four years ago, was instrumental in getting gang leaders to call a ceasefire. On the pitch he is an attacking wing back who bombs down the right sending in precise right foot crosses, can't use his left foot to save his life though.
3: Ju Jaeyang: Explosive 27 year old left back, recently released from prison. Since his release he has vowed not to lead a life of crime again and has set up workshops in both Chinatown and Koreatown to educate teenagers on the dangers of crime and has been successful in setting up a youth team for children and teenagers from the Chinese and Korean communities called China-Korea Unity Youth.
5: Hong Song-Bong: 25 year old centre back who recently settled in Sorthern Northland, he is strong in the tackle and has pace to burn, is a major threat going forward for set pieces although his positioning does leave a lot to be asked.
6: Wang Li: Strong centre back who also puts in 110% and lets nothing get in between him and the ball, a game where he does not receive a yellow card is a rarity. Has excellent positioning but due to is lack of height is inept at dealing with high balls, and not much of a threat at set pieces.
12: Ju Ju-Lee: Utility man who can play anywhere across the defence, nothing spectacular but a useful deputy to have when any of the defenders are out.
Midfielders
7: Seol Kim-Hyuk: Right winger with bags of skill, often criticised for not putting in enough effort, but when he plays well he is almost unstoppable. Fantastic in when facing one player, less effective when surrounded by a number of players. Is excellent with both feet and his head, a perceived laziness and lack of speed can let him down.
11: Feng Shui: 82 year old player-manager of the team. Immensely popular member of the national team who was until recently the teams record goalscorer. Not the fastest player in the world, but his skill with his feet is spectacular. Has scored 11 in 11 appearances for the national team.
10: Xeng Xung: 25 year old creative midfielder who likes to be the playmaker, is a great passer of the ball and is equally adapt with his left foot or his right foot. Is very temperamental and will become easily wound up when things aren't going his way. A similar sort of player to Zidane.
8: Gung Ho-Suk: 27 year old combative central midfielder, who plays a deeper from defensive role than Xeng Xung, an excellent tackler who is not arfraid to put himself where it hurts. Similar sort of player to Gennaro Gattuso.
14: Song Lee: Another utility player, can play anywhere across the midfield and is an adequate if not great backup.
Forwards
8: Jing Mao:22 year old strong centre forward with an eye for goal, can hold players off well and is excellent if given space. Hi is however prone to mistakes when closed down and pushed out wide.
9: Kim Min-Kim: 25 year old star of the national team and the current joint record appearance holder and record goalscorer for the national team with 12 goals in 21 appearances. Is strong in the air and excellent with both feet. As well as scoring goals he creates lots of goals as well.
15: Kang Kan-Kang: A reserve for the national team and looks like being third choice striker here as well. Has impressed when he has made cameo's for the national team with 3 goals in 4 games. the 22 year old is a big prospect for the future and will look to use his strength to score in the box. A predatory sort of player who is best in the box.
Formation is 4-4-2 with a style modifier of +5.

Capitalizt SLANI applies to enter a Sokojito and Sokojiwa (소코지토와 소코지와) team in the second Oriental Football Cup. These two states within the Unified Capitalizt States are populated by ethinc Koreans, though their language and culture have diverged somewhat from other Koreans over the past 350 years. After the fall of the independent Syokaji states, Sokojitans played a key role in the revolution that formed the current Unified Capitalizt States 170 years ago, then making up three of the eight states and about 35% of the population (now lower due to the expansion of the UCS).

Kiryu-shi is accepted, and we very much appreciate the attention given to this Cup by all Oriental teams and nations. We will continue to wait nonetheless until the end of the World Cup and the Cup of Harmony, for all teams to be ready for the OFC II.
(a reminder that KPBs don't exactly count, since there are teams that don't have any. I do plan, nonetheless, to have some ranking system involved, once there are more teams to distinguish and make it more competitive. At the moment, this is just for fun and cultural alignment)

With the Cup of Harmony over now, the OFC will begin on tonight sometime after 0000GMT, with the final decision on the tournament format selected at that time. We will still be accepting new participants up until that time. And thanks to all those who have already postetd their entrance and are now awaiting the tournament's start.
EDIT:
The Tournament schedule shall follow the following format, as closely as possible:
0000GMT 05NOV2007 - Tournament Draws selected (style and match schedule)
0000GMT 06NOV2007 - Matchday 1
0000GMT 07NOV2007 - Matchday 2
... etc ...
more information will be provided when we have the list of teams finalized.

The IFA accepts the invitation of the Taeshan Football team, though we are uncertain of the status of these exchange students (are they your citizens or citizens from someone else's country?).
In any case, we have 6 teams.
The tournament will run follow a double-elimination round format, to be explained here:
General Rules:
- No draws; if a tie exists at the end of regulation, extra-time and PKs will be used to sort the difference.
- Every team must be defeated twice to be eliminated from the tournament.
- The only team not defeated twice in the tournament is crowned the champions of the tournament.
Because of the odd number (6) of teams competing, the tournament format might be a little complicated, but hopefully will resolve itself in the coming days. A sample schedule:
Round 1:
Each team plays two matches (2 days) against random opponents. If any team loses twice, the team is eliminated.
Round 2:
Those teams with the best record from Round 1 will compete against each other in Round 2; the same applies applied to those with the worse records. If after the end of Round 1/2, four teams remain, a simple elimination stage contest will ensue.
A sample schedule:
A
B
C
D
E
F
Bold indicates winner
Round 1
MD1:
AvB
CvD
EvF
MD2:
AvF

CvE
At the end of Round 1:
A: 2-0
B: 1-1
C: 2-0
D: 0-2
E: 1-1
F: 0-2
Because D and F lost both matches, they are eliminated.
Because B and E each lost one match, they will compete against each other.
Because A and C have not lost any match, they will compete against each other until only one opponent remains.
Round 2:
MD3:
AvC
BvE
MD4:
CvA
Becuase C lost both matches against A, they are eliminated.
Since B lost its second match against E, they are eliminated.
The final match will host A against E.
Finals match:
AvE
Because A had not lost a match prior to the final match, their loss to E was their first. Since both teams can only lose once more, they play another match.
AvE
Team A wins the tournament.
If there are any questions about how this will work, please let me know and I will try to elucidate the material.
Since I was late in getting this stuff up on the tournament schedule, the draw will happen tonight, and the matches will begin tomorrow at 0000GMT.

Valanora Express
Shift In Power
A stunning announcement has come from the Raynor family mansion, as Great Leader Tobias Raynor has appointed former Capri Senator Sun Lian ambassador to Daehanjeiguk. After being nominated by Senators Harl Parks and Floras Hardsworth, and then having the Senate vote him to be the potential appointee past Rinaldi Senator Duran Smite and Gladerial Mayor Shan Wu last week with a 61% majority, the Great Leader reviewed his profile and resume, and has now decided that he is the man for the job. Among many of Sun Lian's accomplishments, he was the hand that crafted the beautiful "Empress de Sudall" that is on display in the National Museum of Valanora in Gladerial. He is married to Gladerial Montoise, with two children, a son, Sun Juan, who is a student at the Night Footballing Academy in Raynor City, and a daugher, Sun Che, who is an liberal arts major at Everlin University. Lian and Gladerial will be making the move to the embassy in Daehanjeiguk in the coming days, and it is expected that they will recieve a warm welcome, and should be able to attend the opening matches of the Second Oriental Cup.
Speaking of the Oriental Cup, the Dragons, which they have been dubbed for this tournament, have two difficult games ahead of them. Their first match up is against Kiryu-shi, whom they had troubles with last tournament. Zeph Yan Yin however believes his squad to be ready to step up and deliver performances this time around that reflect the depth and talent that Valanora has.
"You know, when we went back home after the last tournament, we all felt quite dissapointed. I mean, here we were not only representing our country, but also our heritage, and we finished without any convicing wins. When it comes to football squads from this country, that simply is not acceptable, and we took a vow that if we were granted the oppurtunity, Elune willing, we would represent our colors well and redeem our pride. That is exactly what we have been granted, and now me and all of my teammates are looking to exact a little payback and regain the honor and valor that is Valanora football and that of our glorious heritage."
Their work is going to be tough, for in the second set of fixtures, the Dragons meet up with the hosts themselves, who displaced them in the last tournament. As difficult as the outlook presents, I am in no way going to doubt the mettle of this team. It's been four years since the last Cup, and many of these players have moved to different clubs and have become better players for it. They have had four years worth of expierence and reflection to prepare for these challanges, and if they are worthy, Elune will have them learn from that and become the champions that Valanorians demand.

Daehanjeiguk 1-0 Sokojito and Sokojiwa
Elves Security Forces 4-1 Kiryu-shi
Sorthern Northland 2-0 Taeshan
===
It was a day of certainty, as the three matches played out to rather different terms. The Imperial Team played out a spectacular midfield battle against the new visitors from Capitalizt SLANI, Sokojito and Sokojiwa. Despite the renown of the latter team as one of the finest in the world, they were held to the Imperial team's impressive show. Nonetheless, the Imperial side managed to seek a late shot off Yi Yeongpyo's corner in the 74th minute - the solitary goal was the only divisioni between the two sides.
In the other matches, the ESF side made a decisively harsh blow against Kiryu-shi, who continue their streak of extremely bad luck, falling out 4-1. The Dragons - as they've been called - made the day theirs, with the only goal by Kiryu-shi acting as a consolation for the downtrodden team. Sorthern Northland also made an impressive first day stand against Taeshan, another visiting team. The day ended with a 2-0 victory for Sorthern Northland.
In the end, the sides remain hot, as three teams now face elimination while three others have the prospect of winning it all.

The Valerian Empire has taken interest in this cup. However, since the majority of the population (58%) are ethnic Valerian Slavs, the empire wonders if it could still qualify. However, a good number of Kydonian Japanese live in Kydonia Province, and they make up 1% - 1.5% of the Imperial population (the census numbers vary). They are important in Valerian history as they have been key to developing a good naval tradition of an otherwise land-based empire. The nihongo of Kydonia were once of an independent Kydonian Shogunate, founded by the nation of Sasukuo (an empire across the sea to the west of Magnus Valerius) as a colony in 348 AD. This colony soon grew large and prosperous and eventually lost its connections to Sasukuo after Sasukuo went through a succession crisis and civil war throughout 398-412. The Shogunate fell into disarray in 1138 as three clans, the Tsukamoto, the Kohara, and the Funabashi, fought over control after the original ruling clan, the Noriyuki clan, went extinct. Eventually the Kohara and Funabashi were dynastically united and won over the Tsukamoto, who were left control of the marginal islands of the Shogunate. The capital was moved from Yuki-Kyo to Ryuusame. The Shogunate, however, was weakened and eventually their Greek neighbors in Kydonia, proposed a union in 1207 to help withstand the rising powers on the Kuric Continent (namely the Valerian Empire) and to withstand the Magyar and Glasgovan pirates that were operating in the region. The union helped protect the interests of the Kydonians and the Union of Kydonia was formed. Intermarriage was common between the Greeks and Nihongo (especially along the border on the main Kydonian isle) even before the union, and Despot Basileios I of Kydonia (r. 1201 – 1234) was married to a member of the Tsukamoto clan. It was only an inevitable step. However, in 1522 the Valerians under Empress Viktoria I Velikaya invaded Kydonia and added it as a gem to the Empire; on the 9th of September 1527, the territory was officially annexed and Despot Petros II ‘Kumagawa’ was forced into retirement (although his son and descendants were given the title of ‘Governor-King’, or hereditary governance over Kydonia).
After being annexed to the Valerian Empire, Kydonians, both Greek and Japanese, provided naval expertise the empire needed, and many of the empire’s greatest admirals were of Kydonian Japanese stock. The Kydonian Japanese were Catholics and were often secondary to Japanese Orthodox converts, but their role in being the mainstay empire’s navy was perhaps their largest contribution to Valerian history despite being vastly outnumbered by the Valerian Slavs that dominate the largest fraction of the empire’s 673,512,114 people (Alexander III Paradigm Census). Without the Kydonian Japanese, the Valerians might have not created a strong naval tradition nor would have had the minds to use any naval power effectively. After Kydonian Japanese were indoctrinated into the Valerian navy (they were often made commanders and captains to replace the Valerians with little seagoing experience), the Valerians went on to conquer other overseas territories effectively with their help within two decades.
These Kydonian Japanese were also among the numerous settlers of Shorehaven, an autonomous colonial territory of the Empire.
Other than that, nearly 1,793,772 Koreans (0.266% of the Imperial Population) live in the empire as well, forming a strong part of the Imperial Middle Class, serving in bureaucratic functions of the empire. 315,701 Koreans live in the capital of Isangrad alone. The Crown Prince of the Empire, His Imperial Majesty Ivan Alexandrovich, is rumored to have eloped with a Korean, thus adding another leverage of power to the Empire by connecting this ethnic group with the current ruling dynasty (even though His Imperial and Most August Majesty Alexander III rejects entertaining his son marrying such a woman). This ethnic group is one of the fastest growing in the nation, due to an influx of Korean immigrants from abroad.
Some high members of Valerian society are Han Chinese. Some are recent immigrants and some are the descendants of merchants from past trade treaties with the Chinese (as Magnus Valerius is located in the Pacific and often had trade contacts with the older Chinese Empires). A five-star general, General Immanuel Tan, is perhaps the top military mind in Magnus Valerius below the field marshal himself. Other than that, there are not that many Han Chinese living in the empire outside of the capital of Isangrad.
The Imperial Colony of Shorehaven also boasts a large number of people who are Mongolian in ethnicity (~30%) and descendants of Kydonian Japanese settlers (~20%). Mongke Urt-Urumqi, a star that played on the Valerian National Football Team in the years past, hails from this region. The Valerian Empire may field the Shorehaven colonial team to play in the empire’s stead, since they are applicable to the qualifications of this cup.
If anything, we can vouch for our northern neighbors, Kalmykstan, who might be able to field a team for this event; Sasukuo also has interest as a country to represent "...The Pope and the Good Catholics of The Empire of Sasukuo" (OOC: in other words, I can RP through my account as them, or perhaps try to revive the countries...).
Also, if the Empire can't play, The Valerian Empire will sponsor some players as free agents to be signed onto foreign teams to participate in this cup. (OOC2:I'll make some players in that case)
OOC3: Ack, it seems i'm too late. Maybe next cup? :p

Daehanjeiguk 1-2 Elves Security Forces
Sokojito and Sokojiwa 2-3 Sorthern Northland
Kiryu-shi 4-1 Taeshan
===
Today's stories are numerous - two teams going home, twos teams facing elimination, and two teams on the road to progress. The Imperial Team fell late in a showdown with the ESF dragons. It was the Han side who took the initiative early, with Jeong Jihun's clip shot stealing the lead in the 34th minute. However, just after half, ESF equalized on point and the match remained tense and locked until a penalty shot in 75th minute drove the match in the ESF's favor. With that one goal, the Dragons managed to avoid extended the match longer - unlike what happened in last season's contest, in which the Imperial Team beat out ESF in penalty kicks. Irony strikes hard, as the Imperial Team faces the looming threat of elimination.
Sorthern Northland, the other team on the run, managed their own showdown with the Capitalizt SLANI debutants under the Sokojito and Sokojiwa banner. indeed, the two sides were rubbing against each other, but it was a match destined to keep the debutants out, as Sorthern Northland managed to hold on to their precious points and eased out a win. Kiryu-shi and Taeshan had their own fest, but it seemed that Kiryu-shi has finally found their form against Taeshan, knocking them out (literally) with a 4-1 win.
The IFA has also received an invitation from a noted football federation from abroad, claiming to have significant Han influence. While the full report of the reply has not been disclosed, IFA officials have hinted that there is a possibility that the interested parties will have the opportunity to participate in next season's edition, already showing how popular the OFC is turning out to be.
Round 2 fixtures are listed below:
Matchday 3
Elves Security Forces --- Sorthern Northland
Matchday 4
Sorthern Northland --- Elves Security Forces
Daehanjeiguk --- Kiryu-shi
If it is necessary to have one more match between ESF and SNO, another matchday will be reserved after Matchday 4. The IFA would like to offer its gratitude to the visiting teams from Capitalizt SLANI and Taeshan, despite their early elimination. We hope that the two teams return next season for the planned 3rd edition, and that they too have better luck.

The Imperial Academy of Foreign Affairs would like to confirm rumors from the within the Empire that the new ambassador from Valanora is indeed Sun Jian. There is no need to worry about his presence at the football matches that Emperor Gojong Football Stadium, as he is a respected foreign dignitary in the Empire, representing an equally respected international power.

OOC: So are Elves Security Forces OFC2 champions or are there more games? I've also been busy with college recently so havn't been able to rp this. :(
SN finally tunes into Oriental Football Cup.
During the last Oriental Cup the people of Sorthern Northland managed to get themselves into a frenzy and the whole country was talking about the tournament. This time though it has unfortunately been a different story. Despite the teams success this time round, the tournament has managed to attract few viewers in Sorthern Northland. But following victories over regional rivals Taeshan and a decent Sokojito and Sokojiwa team the nation suddenly got interested again when the team took on Elves Security Forces.
It was a match that promised much and it succeeded in delivering entertainment for the watching audience. Sorthern Northland started brightly and after twenty minutes found the back of the net through Jing Mao. The ESF however refused to let SN settle into the game and twenty minutes later equalised through Trian Defecta, Defecta then got a seond minutes later to put ESF into a 2-1 lead at half time.
At the start of the third half the ESF then added a third through Alex Wahn. Sorthern Northland then didn't put up much of a fight until the ESF relaxed in the final ten minutes, with Kang Kan-Kang and Kim Min-Kim both scoring to take the game to extra time.
Soon after the start of extra-time Defecta scored again to complete his hat trick and put the ESF into a 4-3 lead. A tired Sorthern Northland failed to muster up any chances as the game petered out.

ooc: you lost one match. There's one more match tonight between you and ESF. If you win, there will be one more match to decide who goes to the final match. So keep up hope! Contenders in the final match are as follows:
ESF
Sorthern Northland
Daehanjeiguk
Kiryu-shi

Sorthern Northland 1-5 Elves Security Forces
Daehanjeiguk 4-0 Kiryu-shi
It was a random day - randomly done, yet the results lead us to another random event - ESF vs the Imperial Team in the final match. ESF, riding on their 5-1 win over Sorthern Northland - now eliminated - are truly the team to beat. Meanwhile, the Imperial Team has managed again to reach the final match, soundly beating Kiryu-shi. Jeong Jihun, Song Jungguk, and Yi Dongguk each made their star shine, as the Imperial Team rose up 3-0 in the first half before settling on Kim Daeeui's late strike in the stoppage time to seal Kiryu-shi's fate. Despite this result, Kiryu-shi has made some marked improvement over their last tour, having beat Taeshan to reach this stage.
But now in contention for the grand prize are the two teams - ESF of Valanora, and the Daehanjeiguk. It has been an exciting tournament, despite the lethargic international response.
Final Match
ESF --- Daehanjeiguk
If Daehanjeiguk wins, a second match is required:

Sweet Vengance
It has been sweet sweet retribution for the Dragons in this edition of the Oriental Cup. Undefeated thus far, and on the verge of being crowned champions, they have more than made up for the less than stellar showing in the inagural tournament. Zeph Yan Yin has been the most valuable player in the tounament, with six goals in the campaign and three assists to boot. His strike partner in Defecta has been nearly as great, collecting five assists, including a suberb hattrick with the game winner in the first match against the tough Sourthern Northland squad.
For the championship match, or matches depending on which way the next match fares, is the hosts who Defecta sunk back down on matchday two on a penalty kick. The Han however were able to bounce back from the dissapointing loss with a four nil thrashing against Kiryu-shi, which sent them home. Many back here in Valanora will be expecting the Dragons to take care of business in the first match so that a second "Winner takes all" can be avoided. With this offensive looking near impossible to stop, averaging 4 goals a match and only conceding 1.5, it seems to set up for another large win and another trophy that makes its' home in the Hatire Memorial.
Scorers
Zeph Yan Yin - 6
Trian Defecta - 5
Roger Zensan - 2
Alex Wahn - 2
Yan Kips - 1

ESF 0-0 Daehanjeiguk (1-0 a.e.t)
Another tense match. And we lost the final once again. Sorry for crappy post, and sorry for delayed post. But congrats to ESF for coming back and winning the Second Edition. If only NSwiki weren't down right now...
((( AND NOTE, These scores were calculated without KPBs, but on the RP quality and quantity provided by each RPer - most important being if you posted or not, and second most important being the quality of your subsequent posts; there was no comparison for ESF, even if the scores might reflect it )))

Those interested in the Third Edition of the Oriental Football Cup!!!
Please state so here (this is not a sign-up but just interest to see if continuing a good thing is still a good thing).
If we do have a new cup, we will automatically invite those who have already participated in the Cup:
ESF (current champion holders - I owe you a plaque...)
Ariddia
Sorthern Northland
Kiryu-shi
Taeshan
Sokojito and Sokojiwa
And as always new countries are welcome to try out. Your country must have some affiliation with the Asian cultural identity (either incorporated into culture or influenced by it). It also helps to have players on your team that are Asian too.
But anyway, if we get enough interest, we'll start OFC3!!! (Banner to be released)
I'll for sure be around for a 3rd. I thought I posted an RP about my victory here, hrmm I bet Jolt ate it!

Since I seem to have a lot more interest, I will start a new sign-ups list and thread for the 3rd edition.
The third edition will occur after the Cup of Harmony or the World Cup is over (whichever comes last).
HAPPY HOUR!
