Here is the RWC Discussion thread were we can discuss anything, and organise friendlys...
1. Although this is'nt my main priority at the moment soon we should discuss who will host RWC 9
2. Solenial would like a friendly, i'll scorinate and all Scores and RP's from friendly's take place on the Pre-RWC 8 RP Thread.
Both Ariddia and Pa'atua would be willing to play an inaugural friendly.

Brill, we still need another two teams, do you know anyone who'd be interested?
You could link to this thread from the other RWC8 threads, to make sure everyone's aware of it.
Why do you need two more teams for friendlies?

The Sorthern Northland team are looking for a friendly. We're also looking to steal erm borrow some kit so if anyone has some spare red kit that would be great. Preferably it should have some gold trim but just red will be fine.

i meant two more team's for the RWC, sorry lol
Here's what we'll do:
Solenial v Ariddia
Sorthern Northland v Pa'atua
(and if you want)
Solenial v Pa'atua
Sorthern Northland v Ariddia
Solenial v Sorthern Northland
Ariddia v Pa'atua
perhaps one set of friendlys may be better...
Is it just me or does a lot of teams have Red Strips Solenial does, Ariddia does and so does Sorthern Northland, i wonder who else does...
I don't mind whether my teams do one friendly or three.
If it's just one, then Solenial v Ariddia and Sorthern Northland v Pa'atua is fine by me.

We're only playing in red if we can scavenge a red kit. If we can't we'll just have to play naked. :p
As for the friendly playing three friendlies is fine for me.

Good old shirts vs skins.
Question: Are there bonus points for attack and defence?
The question occured to me because of the scoreline in the Ariddia-Kelssek match. In RL, Kelssek would obtain a bonus point, due to losing by only 4 points.
The reason I'm asking is because I need to know whether four tries give you a bonus attack point.
Ariddia scored 27. In my RP, I broke that down into three tries (all converted) + one penalty + one dropckick (15+6+3+3). However, if four tries give you a bonus point, it would be stupid of me not to rewrite that into four tries (two of them converted) + one dropkick (20+4+3).
Just let me know, and I'll revise my RP post if necessary.

Hmm I'm a lazy bastard, what possible combinations are there that can score 22 points in a rugby game? Edit: Four tries with two converted is one way isn't it?
At least the 10-7 win in an easy one to work out.

4x5 + 2x2 = 20+4 = 24. Nope. ;)
So four tries with one converted one. That's the most likely. Or: two tries (neither of them converted) + 4 penalty kicks or dropkicks (i.e. 2x5 + 4x3).

Ah yeah keep think a conversion is only one point. :headbang:
Should really know better considering I play rugby tbh. :p
Cheers anyway Ariddia.

RL RWC Points Distrubution Goes
Win - 4 Points
Draw - 2 Points
Lose - No Point
Four Tries Or More - 1 Point
Lose By Less Than Seven Points - 1 Point

let's just say if you get more than 20 you get at least 4 tries and therefore get +1 point. People will only RP it like that anyway... i'll go add a points section to the tables.

OK. Well, consider that Ariddia scored four tries in that match against Kelssek, then. ;)
Does the loser of a match gain a bonus point for scoring four tries? That would mean the loser can win two bonus points in a single match, while the winner can win only one. Which can be justified, of course (although it seems a bit odd); I'm just curious to know what the rule is in such a case.

I've posted this to be edited on later occasions, it is a ranking of Top Sorers in the Competition

This is why I've previously spent a lifetime avoiding this godawful sport. You have to be able to count...

You can reach 20 points with 2 converted tries and two penalties/drop goals, or with four tries with missed conversions - so basically the team in question gets to RP themselves an extra point in the tables - which is fairly stupid.
Why your scorinator doesn't spit out tries, conversion, penalties and drop goals (like mine did many moons ago) is beyond me.

Yep you can get 2 bonus points. Very rare though. The most amount of points that can be won in a single match in total would be 7
Winner = 4
Winner scores four tries = 1
Loser scores four tries = 1
Loser loses by 7 points or less = 1

Solenial, if you have time, it would be good to link each RWC8 thread to every other.

Yip tbh for rugby to work on NS I think you'd need to have a scorinater that rather than telling you the final score should break it down into Tries scored, Tries converted, Penalties scored and Drop goals scored, unfortunately I have no idea how to make a scorinater.

How are scores generated? (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/World_Cup_FAQs#How_Are_Scores_Generated.3F) and Scorinate (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Scorinate).

Well, i'll try and state number of Penalys, Drop Kicks, Tries etc.
For example:
Team A 20-15 Team B
(Pen:0 Try:4 Con:0) (Pen:1 Try:2 Con:1)
Penaltys or Drop Kicks = Pen
Try = Tries
Con = Conversions
And then you can RP on that, what do you say?
Well, what will you base it in? How do you decide whether a team should score four tries or not?
Alba Scotland
09-10-2007, 21:03
You could do something simple like after working out the score and if it is possible for it to get 4 tries, then roll another dice. Even they get 4 tries odd they don't.
Would that work?
Solenial
09-10-2007, 21:04
well you use a formula based on the RP'ing and Ranking, like how i work out the score, and leave an air of randomness. Which means if the number produced is over half way the team gets the maximum amount of tries.
But it's not totally random, the RP score will mainly sway the amount in your favour so therefore, you get more trys as well as points for your RPs.
I hope that isn't too hard to understand, i'm no good at explaining. ;)
