Solenial celebrated their A.P.I.N success as Bjornoschkodel continued their unimpressive start to the campaign. Solenial won with a 54-5 win over the Bjornhurz side.
Matthew Robinson opened the try scoring at the Palthios Stadé, but tries either side of the break from Marvin Petrov and Lewi Grant Delap, and a stunning late Penalty from Horatio Smith, saw the points deservedly go to Kevin Wilke's high-flying side.

However, there was at least one positive for Bjorn's beleaguered fans, with Frighjik revealing before the game that Val French could be back within a week.

He was speaking after French - who had been expected to be on the sidelines for several weeks - underwent the second of two hernia operations in Germany.

Frighjik had handed Jul his first A.P.I.N start of the season after the Centre put in a superb performance against Datium in Tuesday night's Friendly victory, while former Sharks midfielder Humph was again a non-playing member of his squad.

And Jul - who had pulled off a string of tackles at the Palithios to, at first, keep Bjornoschkodel in the game - was again at his best in the 12th minute.

Grimph finished a superb one-touch attacking move with a right-foot pass from 20 yards that Wakefield did well to catch and boot upfield leading to Robinson's try.

And he was there again in the 16th minute after Grimph won an aerial duel with Ricardo just outside the box, with Wakefield easily gathering his weak effort.

But Solenial were enjoying the bulk of the possession, and scrum half Yook struck the crossbar with a conversion in the 25th minute.

However, Frighjik's side were behind four minutes later thanks to a superb piece of finishing from Hulesk.

Centre Farrel played the ball inside to Wakefield, and having already seen Robinson making a run, he launched a long ball forward for the Wing. Robinson controlled the ball with his left and delicately placed the ball to get another try.

Sports news in brief

Ariddia prepares for Rugby World Cup

The Fédération Ariddienne de Rugby (F.A.R.) is currently in the process of selecting players for a national team, in preparation for Ariddia's participation in the Rugby World Cup. Five other nations have also signed up so far.

Two announcements have been released by the F.A.R.. First, the team will contain women players as well as men. And second, the team will perform the ulek (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ulek) at the start of each match. The ulek is associated with Ariddia's football team, but the Ariddian Football Association has authorised its use, noting that it is "perfectly suited for rugby".

Another competitor in the Cup, tiny Pa'atua, has its own cihivau ritual. Some rugby enthusiasts are already hoping the two countries will meet, so that the ulek and the cihivau can go head to head.

Pa’atuan players have assigned positions, but consider themselves versatile rather than highly specialised, and may switch around to some extent (which has the additional bonus of confusing opponents). They will try to keep possession of the ball as much as possible, play a very physical game, and pass rather than kick.

Pa’atua’s best (and most versatile) player is probably “the yeti”, Ieti Vakatau.

CHANNEL 9 SPORT UPDATES
Warming Up For the World Cup

Reid: Hello, welcome to Channel 9’s ‘Warming Up For The World Cup’. I’m Steve Reid and I’m joined today by a very special guest. He is the man leading Alba Scotland into one of the largest sporting events this year, it’s Scott Robb.

Robb: Hi there.

Reid: Now just a few quick questions to fire at you. Firstly, there are certain teams in this competition fronting a unisex squad. How does this make you feel, considering that your full man squad may be facing women?

Robb: This is a question that has been playing on the minds of several of the players for obvious reasons. But Rugby is a merciless sport, and we will treat men, women, children, whatever is presented against us, as an enemy. And we will not be afraid to take on someone because of their gender. All will be equal before us.

Reid: There has also been some good and bad news in the camp is that right?

Robb: Well yes. We have of course been deeply saddened by the passing of John Yets. He was a great player of the sport and an even better man. He really brought a new angle to the position of Winger. His passing was a great shock to us all, but Rugby is a dangerous sport and sometimes injuries like this can’t be helped. On the better side of things though we have seen a full recovery from Phillip Lawson. His neck has healed perfectly and he is definitely going to be a great benefit to us in the game and spiritually. He is without a doubt one of the best players on the team, and I think possibly around the world.

Reid: And that’s all we have time for at the moment, please tune in after the break.

At the Training Ground

Coach: Come On Guys! Push that Puppet!
Williams: Pant! Sir Pant! Have we got any friendlys Pant! Before the World Cup? Pant!
Coach: I've already organised a friendly with Datium (I'll Scorinate the Friendly at the end of the post) but there's no friendly's with the competition. I'll Get on it but first, get me those balls!
Williams: All 4 Sacks!?
Coach: Yeah we'll have a practise match, you're not guarenteed a place in the Squad you know... and Williams, your doing well, keep up the good work!

The Next Day in The Palithios Stade

Solenial 69-3 Datium

The Game Started quickly with Solenial Pushing forward and rook after rook coming ever closer to the opposing line, but a stumble from Delap meant Datium sprinted down the pitch hoping to desperately for the first try.

But nobody beats Farrel and today was no different a flying high tackle took Datium's Winger out and got Farrel in the Sinbin.

The Winger, after regaining conciesness passed the ball to the fly-half who took the penalty and made it Solenial 0-3 Datium in the 2nd Minute.

As Farrel came back on the pitch, Solenial carried on with excellent, perfect passing and a try from Robinson followed by a successful conversion by Jones meant by 8 Minutes Solenial had went ahead 7-3.

After 30 Minutes of firing precision by Solenial 6 Tries 5 Conversions and one Penalty lifted the score to a massive 50-3.

In the Second Half The Solenial Side went out and got a Try, A Successful Conversion and a Penalty by now Solenial were deeply down with a score of 60-3 in the 70th Minute.

In the last 10 Minutes Datium got sloppy and started making disastrous tackles which led to 3 more Penalties, Final Score 69-3

In the Changing Rooms

Coach: Well Done Lads, 69-3's a promising result. Sure, we'll get a friendly against a better team but Datium aren't bad, bythe way you guys performed i'd say we could go far in th World Cup. Nw, were gonna meet up at the Training Ground on Monday and practise more on both Tackling and Rooks, Not that they were bad.

Ariddia to provide referee

Ariddian referee Tim Lawson will participate in the eighth Rugby World Cup. He has a reputation for applying the rules strictly but fairly, cracking down strongly on deliberate foul play.

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4816/timlawsonsmvg3.jpg
Ariddian referee Tim Lawson

With the Rouge Rogues' roster now having been confirmed, the Fédération Ariddienne de Rugby has announced that the team will be using the Ariddian federal flag (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ariddian_reunification_flag) rather than the flag of the PDSRA. This in order to support the nascent Ariddian Isles political Federation, and to acknowledge the presence of five West Ariddian players and three North-West Ariddians on the team.

The team's jerseys, however, will retain the national colours of the PDSRA (red and black) rather than those of the Federation (blue and yellow).

The team's four female players say they are looking forward to taking part in the competition.

"I'm not afraid of tackles and scrums and being knocked about," #4 Melissa Brooks says. "I'll be giving as good as I take when it comes to playing physically."

"I think we have the skill, and we're fast runners," says Nkosazana Ntobo (#8). "We were all selected to be on this team. I'm proud and honoured to be on the team, and I'm looking forward to getting started!"

Patricia O'Donovan (#11), who is West Ariddian, says she is pleased to contribute to bringing the three Ariddian states together. "It'll be a bit strange to play in the PDSRA's colours, but it's important that we all come together like this. We're all Ariddian, in the broadest sense. I'm happy for the opportunity to represent the Ariddian nation, and the State of West Ariddia. I'm an Ariddian Islander, and I'm a West Ariddian; I'm both, and both are important. Oh," she adds with a grin, "and I'm a woman, who's more than ready to face all the men from those other teams."

Jean-François Durail (#5) says the players all see one another as team mates, and do not focus on gender differences.

"We all know why we're here, and we're all going to play the same and be treated the same once we're out on the field."
Candelaria And Marquez
08-10-2007, 16:24
The Republic of Candelaria And Marquez present the Huge Blues; a team noted for their steadfast commitment, shown in so many ways, to the very spirit of amateurism.

Despite being a former British colony still greatly influenced by the motherland; as a participation sport Rugby Union is most popular among schoolboys, dropping well below soccer, cricket, golf, tennis and basketball among adults. There are few large stadia built exclusively for the sport, and attendances and TV viewing figures are not high. However, the presence of any C&M team in an international event is guaranteed to raise the profile of the sport, the competition and the players involved dramatically.

Coach Krishna Crow admits that his side will be ‘severe underdogs’ when compared to hosts Solenial and notable rugby-playing nations including Starblaydia, Kelssek and Alba Scotland; but believes his twenty-two are capable of representing the Candelarias in a good light, on and off the pitch.

Sorthern Northland kit update.
General Secretary of the Sorthern Northland Rugby Association (SNRA), Kazio Bagirli spoke of the association difficulty in getting a kit for the team. In an announcement that was part of the unveiling of the World Cup squad, Bagirli "The fact we even have a team to send to the World Cup is a feat in itself considering rugby gets absolutely no money from the Ministry of Sport in Sorthern Northland. At the moment all their money goes to football and the Olympics, hopefully a good performance will convince the Ministry to give rugby at least a little funding, all our players are having to pay their own way to Solenial and pay for accommodation themselves. We don't even have any money to buy a kit so we've asked other nations if they would be kind enough to donate a kit to us, but it looks like we may not get any kit. We've still not decided what to do if that happens a couple of players have suggested getting a tattoo that looks like a shirt whilst others have suggested the players paint themselves red, but at the end of the day if we have to play naked we will."

This is a situation people probably won't want to see and will hopefully inspire someone to donate some kit to the team. The squad is a young and inexperienced one that will be playing together for the first time in the world cup.

Today the Solenial Rugby Union Asscociation decided to donate 30 Strips to the Sorthern Northland Squad in use for their world cup.

It is our World Cup and we want people to think of it as a good one. We have unleashed new balls, new training kits, the new Solenial strip, a new logo and piling lots into this competition. The least we could do is supply SN with some strips.

I've found a good program were i can design new strips so this is Solenial's new strips,

Sorthern Northland Receive kit.

Sorthern Northland will play clothed in this rugby World Cup after hosts Solenial were kind enough to look into the cupboard and find 30 spare rugby kits.

Upon receiving the kit General Secretary of the Sorthern Northland Rugby Association (SNRA), Kazio Bagirli said "We would like to send our greatest thanks to the Solenial Rugby Union Asscociation for donating these kits, and I hope that we can in some way repay them in the future. The kits are just what we were looking for, just the right colour and we have managed to raid a local rubbish dump for some yellow bibs so we shan't have to play naked if we come across any other teams in red, although I was kind of looking forward to the reaction of the other team when we ran out naked, it certainly seemed to put the Pa’atua off their cihivau before the game and we got a good win there."
