Mallatarsland does not play Baseball. But, we have a similar game played by Our womenfolk called Rounders. Men are of course banned from playing Womens games as it not natural.

Therefore, Mallatarsland will sign up with an all female team.

*there is much rejoicing in Mallatarsland as the womenfolk don their Uniforms and begin practising*

Do you have a scorinator? if so, any chance we can test it before hand, as to make sure it works?

perhaps nefundland we could put up a cohost bid 2 different groups like 16 to each and we could develop a scorination

I've got a basic idea of how it would work, something based on a general skill system, each team would have a 50-50 chance if winning a game, and percentages would shift based on the skill difference between each team. Not sure how much a point should shift a percentage; I'm thinking two percent per point, maybe?

Hmmm... I'm a bit dubious about that scorination method. There needs to be an RP bonus and a way to take into account previous results. I'd like to see a more detailed explanation before I'm willing to support Nefundland as host.

RP bonus could be figured as an increase to skill, I'd need a little help with figuring out what to give bonuses for, and how large they should be.

As for previous results, what do you mean, some kind of moral bonus or penality based on previous games?

I've got a basic program for working out results, and am planning to use a spreadsheet to figure score.

BASIC code
print "NOTE: the team with the higher skill level should be labled team one."
print "This just makes the program run faster and is easier for everyone"
print "thank you"
input "what is the first team's name?" ; name1$
input "what is the second teams's name?" ; name2$
input "what is the first teams skill level?" ; skill1
input "what is the second teams skill level?" ; skill2
let diff= (skill1 - skill2)
let skilldif = (diff * 2)
let perdif = 50 + skilldif
[roll]
roll = int(rnd(1)*100) + 1
if roll < perdif goto [team1win]
if roll = perdif goto [roll]
if roll > perdif goto [team2win]
[team1win]
print "the winner is " ; name1$
print "roll is " ; roll
end
[team2win]
print "the winner is " ; name2$
print "roll is " ; roll

Traditionally, scores are produced, not just winners of each game. But that's a decent start. You can combine previous rankings and RP-bonus to yield a skill factor, I assume.

Nefundland,

Do you have IRC? The #nssport channel would be a good place to get help making a scorinator. And Zwangzug is right, it should generate scores as well as who wins (and usually some way of doing extra innings, overtime, etc.) Also, you should so it to someone when you finish. But it looks like you're putting in good work, which is a positive sign.

Yes, Nefundland, that is a good start.

If you can get the RP Bonus and the ranking involved, it would go a very long way towards your hosting.

I don't have an IRC, I updated the program to figure scores and extra innings, There might be a few bugs, but I think I can work them out.

If you can get the RP Bonus and the ranking involved, it would go a very long way towards your hosting.

The way I'm planning to figure skill is to take the ranking #'s from the first page and add any RP bonus needed.

We need at least 1 more sign up to start, but I'd like to possibly have 24 teams, as that seems to be a good number to have a decent tourney. (With playoff rounds for semifinals or what ever the host (hosts if someone else is willing to step up to the plate) decides).

Nefundland, do you mind if someone co-hosts w/ you? (i can't do it, too busy the next couple of weeks)

Also: Anyone up for co-hosting duties??

SIGN-UPS ARE OFFICALLY CLOSED

I'll keep open the co-host position until Friday. If by then no-one offers to co-host, then Nefundland will host by itself. I'd like to have this start next sunday night, monday night at the latest.
