Hello fellow nations.
Traditional clothing in our country is very simple and is worn all the time.

Women and girls over 12 wear ankle length high neck dresses(grey), white aprons, grey cloth bonnets tied under chin, white stockings and grey shoes.

Men and boys wear Navy suits, white shirts, a tie and Navy shoes.

girls under 12 wear knee length dresses(grey), grey cloth bonnets, white aprons, white stockings and grey shoes.

On special ocasions girls have party dresses. some girls between the ages of 14 and 18 often wear corsets or a tight bodice with their party dress although this is not compulsory!!!

Please share your traditions of clothing.
Ariddia
23-09-2007, 17:50
Ariddia today is a diverse and multicultural country, where people wear a wide variety of clothing styles.

However, its "traditional" clothing would have to be the usual clothing of Indigenous Ariddians (Wymgani) prior to colonisation. Many Wymgani still dress this way, as a mark of tradition and identity, but also because such clothing is suited to the climate.

Traditionally, people in many Wymgani communities wore nothing, save for woven patanja-leaf covering over the genitals (for hygiene, not for "modesty"). In some parts of the Ariddian Isles, ornamentation made of shells, leaves, wood or bone was also worn, as well as body paint. (Regarding the latter, see the NSwiki article on Sho Ea (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Sho_Ea).

Patanja-leaf "pants" and body paint were popularised abroad by Ke Sho (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ke_Sho), an Indigenous Ariddian football star who often appeared in public in front of the internationl media wearing only that.
Kurona

Kurona's clothing will varrie by area and profession. Upper class may wear more lose Victorian Style clothing or otherwise well to do clothing. As will most city dwellers. Those in smaller towns and farms will see more easy clothing such as tees tanks jeens overalls as well as some of the more traditional and formal attire. Kimonos are also popular in any part of the country, usually found more among famlies of Japanese decenet.
Snefaldia

Snefaldia's corpus of national clothing is quite diverse, depending on where a person comes from, their birth, and their occupation. It is very rare to see people dressed in modern "western" style business suits, t-shirts, and trousers, and the wearing of indigenous clothing is almost universal.

In fact, trousers are quite unusual outside of the Sring Issa region. Knickers and breeches are commonly worn by government officials as part of their costume, similar to what was popular in 1700's France, and some farmers in Dayan wear jean trousers. Robes, wraps, and skirts are very popular in Bae, Neer Dal, and eastern Dayan.

Among the religious leaders of Aatem Nal and the Tuhran Bel, clothing is quite involved, often involving multiple layers and highly detailed embroidery or weaving. Religious vestments are considered everyday-wear for religious figures. Phelonia, dalmatics, and cassocks are seen regularly, as are the distinctive sable caps many members of the Tuhran Bel sport.

Powdered wigs are commonly worn as a fashion statement, and being well-dressed is looked favorably upon. Total nudity is generally frowned upon, but it is quite common for young people to wear a lungi-like garment that wraps tightly around the lower body and nothing else. In colder climates, around the mountains and in north Sring Issa, fur clothing and heavy materials are added to the popular styles.

Cloth masks that cover the full face have now become part of a teenage girls clothing in certain areas where walks to the village are often used as a form of exercise for the whole house. Masks which are moled onto the face are often used as punishment for vanity.

Those falling below a 7 on the scale are required to be covered head to toe when in public.

Tanaara

Holy Faith killester and Sturmholm - two places that have just made it to the Tanaaran National Society of Travel Agent Professionals 'Don't suggest this nation' list!

Since Tanaara is a Master Planned Nation, rather than an aggregate of various people coming together and happening to fall into nationhood...

We are a clothing optional nation where clothes are worn for utilitarian / protection from the climate/ health reasons rather than to stay within some cultural more or stritcure. Clothing is alway worn when meeting visitors from out of the country unless it is known that they are non natives who are used to Tanaaran customs. Travelling outside the country sees Tanaarans conforming to the local custom of clad/ unclad. Travel clothes are comfortable and of easy care fabrics that are designed for the climates being travelled through. THey will be in the formal to informal range for the planned activities.

Some professions wear what amount almost to uniforms ( Health Care, Educators ) or are actualy uniforms ( Police, Military) In addition some jobs have clothing as a requiremnt of the job. Those within Federal Service to validate/ earn Citizenship are required to wear clothes during their term of Federal Service while out in public - if you see some one between the ages of roughly eighteen and thirty nude in public- when most serve their term you can reasonably guess that they are residents, not Citizens.

Certain sports require safety equipment that requires cliothing as well, Swimming is always done in the nude, particularly in pools and showering both before and after swimming is standard. Naked Touch Football popular, and there are many Dragon Torch Skiing Processionals in which the participants ski at night, in long winding lines carrying large torches while in the nude, although some groups ski in elobrate costumes that cost many thoussands of aurics.

As a formal occassion you are as likely to see a lady in a full body Mehendi painting (http://www.mehendiartist.com/images/mehendi1.jpg) that took over 24 hours to accomplish and is as intricate as delicate lace, as you are to see one in the latest Dolce and Gabbana haute couture offering. Tanaaras love dressing up and avidly wait for the seasonal fashion shows both within the region and abraod. Oriental style tattoss are also very popular with many having large scale art work on their backs or wrapping around to the front of their torsos. However tattoos on arms and legs is generally confined to ankle, wrist, or upper arm band / cuff style art. Many ladies have delicate tattoos encircling their belly buttons.

Most men and women wear ear rings, other body piercing is not common. Hair is usually worn long by both- generally for business/ work it is worn up, down for leisure.
Swilatia

People in Swilatia usually wear whatever the hell they want to wear. There is nothing more to say, no details to get into.
The Resurgent Dream

There are diverse cultured in the Confederated Peoples and thus there are diverse traditional outfits. However, most people wear modern Western clothing most of the time, sometimes with religious or cultural variations.
Bergelland
30-09-2007, 21:06
In Bergelland clothing is usually made purely of cotton. Sintetic fabrics are extremely rare. Most clothing is usually pure white, but it can contain any number of details in any other colors, though very few people wear black details. Women's clothing is usually light, and quite revealing, since its used more for hygiene reasons then anything else.
Priestesses can not wear anything except for a special type of underwear for hygiene, as covering your body unnecessarily is considered a bad practice in the local religion. They may, on special occasion wear light fine cotton robes, usually adorned with white gold threads.

Dear Sirs:

Please be assured that contrary to popular belief, His Serene Highness imposes no legal restrictions on the choice of attire of his subjects, with two exceptions. First, anything turquoise is strictly forbidden. Secondly, Article XXI of the Nazaruvian Constitution clearly states that all persons subject to the rule of His Serene Highness are required by law to wear an adult diaper on their heads every April 20, to commemorate the anniversary of his ascension to the Consular Throne. Violators of these laws are subject to fine and must preform the Bird Dance in the nude on national television within the year.

Murder City Jabbers
30-09-2007, 22:42
The Murder City Jabbers wear most anything they like. A capitalist market brings all sorts of looks, from hot designer looks to run down mullet mommas wearing jogging pants and a Tigger T-shirt.

There are various small subcultures within the country that have their own basic, cohesive looks. Anarchists wearing their black, military type stuff, crust punks wearing overalls with patches sewn onto the seat with dental floss, emo kids wearing women's jeans and baby T's, break dancer crews wearing track suits, etc. Some of the larger cities are populated with street gangs that are outfitted not unlike movie gangs like The Warriors.

Murder City Jabbers who are over 35 generally wear stuff you can buy at the mall.
