A joint Cup of Harmony bid by Bostopia and The Islands of Qutar

Scorinator:

The scoranator we will be using is the Schia-Qutar International Scorinator used in the very successful World Cup xXx, the special thing about this scoranator is that it is a ratio based scorantor, thereby assuming that a team with 20 KPB Points is twice as good as one with 10 KPB Points and four times as good as a team with 5 KPB Points.

A goal is scored if...

lower KPB total
R > 0.9 +/- ( 0.07 - ( _________________) * 0.07 )

higher KPB total

where R = Random number, 0 < R < 1
+ is used for the team with less ranking points, - is used for more.

Basically, the formula takes how good teams are proportionally to each other, so that teams with 30 and 60 ranking points have roughly the same chances of beating each other as teams with 3 and 6 ranking points. However, it isn't exactly like this, as teams with no ranking points at all wouldn't fit into the equation, so everybody's rank increases by 0.01 points.

To account for any home advantages that may occur, the number produced from the formula that R must be greater than is reduced by a third of 1 - this number. So, say that a team scores if R > 0.88, but the team are at home. This then becomes R > 0.84, as a third of 1 - 0.88 = 0.04, and 0.88 - 0.04 = 0.84

Each team has 12 attacks (chances to score a goal using the formula).

Competition Format:

The general format of the competition with be an initial group stage that will consist of home and away games against all the teams in the group, the groups will be in small enough numbers that the group stage won't take overly long but we feel we add to the feel of the RPs. This will followed by a knockout stage at neutral venues in Bostopia and The Islands of Qutar.

The teams will be invited if they have RPed at least once in the World Cup Qualifiers

RP Bonus:

The RP Bonus will be a quantity based system, with a limit and a time span. The time span aspect takes into account the last three matchdays RP's because you may not have been able to RP on one day, and it won't give an advantage to a larger nation who puts one big RP in at the start. There is a base quality limit for anything that shows a complete lack of imagination, such as just writing out the table situation into sentences. We know the tables we do scoranate them!

Style Modifiers

There shall be Style Modifiers from -3 to +3, -3 being the most defensive formation imaginable and +3 being the most attacking formation in the history of NS. You can have any modifier between -3 and +3, even (π/2) and any modifier out the range will be rounded to the nearest limit.

The effect of the modfiers is to alter the formula to increase or decrease the chance of a goal, and it does this for both teams, so attacking teams will be more likely to score but also are more likely to concede, and the defensive teams may be less likely to concede but will also be less likely to score themselves

How would you react to people thinking this bid is coming way too early for anyone to care?

Personally speaking, I'd react with a sense that our intentions have been stated well before the WCC President and other WCC members start wondering who'll put their name forward to host the CoH, before the WCC President has to ask questions in the NWCDT as to who'll host.

This sort of forward-thinking (if our bid is accepted) gives us plenty of time to plan the CoH, make amendments as necessary and ensure the cup is well-organised and finishes on time so that World Cup 37 will not be held up by the CoH, let alone showing that we are enthusiastic about this to post our bid this early, and plan on seeing it work right the way through.

I like this bid. The formula appears to be a nice, stable plan that will theoretically allow 12-0 scorelines, which I think should happen at least once in awhile.

Excuse me, what is the Cup of Harmony?

A tournament for people who Rp'd alot but didn't qualify for the world cup proper.

You know I'm not a fan of the proportional system. So let me just put that on record.

With regards to Prux's last message, while myself and Qutar are now hosts, the competition is invite-only, and we haven't decided on who to invite yet. This will be done once the Playoff stages for World Cup Qualification have finished.

I'm mostly concerned that neither Q not -Topia have made no attempt to send out a list of invites.

Who sends out invites?

It will be either "The Islands of Qutar" or "Bostopia" since they are the hosts.

And I've just sent a friendly reminder TG to both of them.
