Thank you for your inquiry, the Adinas Star Coach is available in four engine specifications since it made to order. An electric, hydrogen, plug-in hybrid, or gasoline engine.

All run the average of 500-600 horsepower.

The gasoline engine is a 6 Speed Automatic Overdrive 6.0L 552 hp V12. 552 at 6100 RPM.

[OOC: Welcome to the club of automotive design. I'll perhaps tip Van Luxemburg off of this for reference. As for a picture, how about this one (http://www.neilchilson.com/images/Maybach%20Exelero%201024x768.jpg)? It's a Maybach concept car.]

Mr. Moasuin,

As many know, there is no nation in the world that appreciates a fine automobile than the nation of Imitora. With a collective car culture that rivals the population of most nations, those that are, in the know, so to speak, oft find that in Imitora, they can learn the true merits of a vehicle. Numerous industry specialists enjoy the lax automotive laws in the nation, such as a lack of any such draconian emissions laws that plague most nations. Almost limitless highways of all shapes can show the weak and strong points of any road going vehicle. And money spent in the aftermarket industry rivals the GDP of many a smaller nation.

As such, I would like to extend to you an offer. As Editor in Chief of Speed, the Imitoran industry insider that covers all aspects of the automotive world, it is my position to finalize cover stories, publication lay outs, and the like. In our last issue, we ran a mid level luxury car shoot out, and in our upcoming issue, we are planning a follow up with the upper level luxury cars. However, we would also like to do a comparison between the Adinas Star Coach and a locally "produced" super lux. We understand the constraints offered, that each is a singly built unit and not produced, but with a ten thousand vehicle limit, we are sure it wouldn't be that hard to find an example.

If this is acceptable, please notify myself, or the director of vehicle coordination, Rodney Love, at this address. I hope that you find it possible to procure us a vehicle for this test, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Respectfully

We will allow you a vehicle for such a test with the understanding that this is not an Adinastat sports coupe, but rather is meant for a luxurious rude.

OOC: The vehicle could look like the Exelero somewhat, but is quiet a bit larger sedan style. I will probably have another car that is like the Exelero, it is perfect for an Adinas two seater.

Long Range in Long Cars
A junior editor’s ride through the mountains in Aerion’s new super lux

So, I think this happens to be perfect. I just spent the past two month’s riding around in our long term test Bowler Wildcat. On public roads. For a daily driver. Such is the life of the junior editor. Three months out of journalism school, and I spend two months driving a dedicated off road vehicle two and from work, and now I find myself standing at the vehicle receiving dock at the Port Canton docks, watching as my ride for the next two days in unloaded. Of course, I only get to drive this new set of wheels for two days. Two months in a Wildcat, two days in a Star Coach. I guess it all evens out.

For those wondering thus far, the Adinas Motors Star Coach is one of these new super luxury cars. There is really no point for the average reader to get past this in the article. Not because you couldn’t afford one (but at A£300,000 I’m sure it’s a bit pricy), but because there really isn’t any point to advertise the front seat. Most of our readers at Speed want to know performance and power, and consider ride quality as second. This car definitely has the power, six hundred ponies running free at 6,100rpm. However, that is, in this writers opinion, a bit peaky and close to redline. No torque figures could be found, but using standard theory, we should be seeing about four hundred and seventy five pound foot of torque*. Honestly, it’s the horsepower that disappoints me most. I know, I know. Horsepower sells cars, torque makes them go, but the simple fact is, 550hp, which translates to about 490ish (and that’s being ultra conservative with drive train loss) at the rear wheels, isn’t anything much out of a V12 any more. I guess I’m just used to performance six by sixes that are putting out well past 600 ponies. However, this car isn’t about that. It’s about something else, and I’m getting to that right now.

The car finally touches down, and I’m off to see what I’ll be spending the next forty eight hours in. And I’m impressed. As some of you may remember, last month we ran a mid level lux shoot out, where the new Cadillac STS V barely beat out the BMW 550i. We were all surprised and impressed with the new Cadillac interior. Then earlier in this issue, I got to ride shot gun in a fully equipped Mercedes Benz S600. Even nicer, bordering on the point of extravagance. The interior on the Adinas makes them all look like a Cavalier from 1993. The quality of parts is sublime. Soft leather feels just right for those long drives in nice, adjustable seats. Everything is well laid out on the interior, being right were it needs to be for both performance and comfort driving. Our test car had every option available, except for the security package. At Speed, we are full believers in, “if ya think you might get shot at, drive something a bit less conspicuous.” The sound system in the car still has some tweaks to be worked out; it just doesn’t jive well with the satellite radio, CD, or mp3 selections, and just doesn’t quite match BMWs Logic7 system. Of course, it doesn’t have iDrive either, so it’s made up for in the end. I feel like I’m in a comfortable room, not a car, behind the wheel. I would have liked to get some time in the back seat with a real driver up front, but our budget isn’t that big. The ambient lighting was a bit difficult though. It was like it couldn’t decide if it wanted to be bed of roses romantic or Joe’s Italian Dinner cheesy. The convenience, though, of the touch screens as opposed to buttons for the radio, navigation, and driver alert systems were perfect: as long as you kept a nice cloth to keep the screen free of smudges and prints.

After a brief walk around and consulting with a rep from Adinas Motors, I was in the driver’s seat of the Star Coach, and off for a nice drive to the New Owl automotive facilities in Lansing, just outside Freesburg. Now we get to the meat of the car. City driving is excellent. It has just enough torque to get away from the lights, and the converter in the six speed auto box is smooth as silk. No harsh, jarring starts, just off the brake, ease the throttle, and you go. The air ride suspension is equally nice, soaking up the bumps and jars of city streets and translating little into the cabin. However, I couldn’t find, nor was I told, about any adjustment feature. I would prefer a slightly stiffer ride, and the body roll was a bit much, but no where near as bad as my girlfriend’s Mercedes C320. A magnetic ride suspension would have been preferred. However, I must remind myself that when I’m not being tortured by the Bowler, my normal car is an ultra stiff Lotus Exige. But in a car like this, I doubt body roll will be noticeable to most. Just don’t have a full cup of coffee or magnum of champagne. In this car, I would think it to be the later. The best part about city driving is the forward emblem. At those long lights that just never seem to change, you can entertain yourself endlessly by simply retracting and extending the Adinas emblem on the hood.

Highway driving, on the other hand, is not as exquisite. It just doesn’t have the high end pull to match most other super luxs on the market, and that decent low end torque just can’t get the car moving up top. When getting passed by Bentley’s and Roll’s, you just start to feel like you’re not in that super lux anymore. However, the ride is quiet, ultra quiet. And smooth. Dancing in and out of traffic was never so easy in a car this big.

And the car is big. Perfect for those long highway rides. You can really spread out in this cabin, and its nice. I’ve never been in a Rolls, but this definitely beats out the Bentley Arnage. It would be nice to get them on a track and see how that would play out. And the ass coolers are amazing. I first experienced them on a BMW M5, and I think that they should be required on all vehicles. However, what shouldn’t be required, and I wish they had an off button, were the damned collision warning and lane departure systems. I know where I am, I know what I am doing, and I am smarter than the car. I’d like it if it would stop beeping every time I rode someone’s ass for doing 85 in the passing lane.

Then we have the navigation. I’m a firm opponent of computers talking to me in a voice decided to be calming by some suit in a lab telling me where to go. It got to the point where I literally stopped the car, got on my knees, and begged God to just turn the damned thing off. What I’m saying is that some of the electronics still need work. I kept hitting the “mute” button on the touch screen for the navigation, but it just wouldn’t shut up. At one point, I thought I had it pegged, when out of nowhere I was told to turn left. On the highway. I nearly shit myself.

In the end, I found the ride pleasant enough. I wont write about the handling in the twisties around Lansing, simply because I didn’t take the path. The car is large, and bulky because of that. I just didn’t feel comfortable taking this car into the twists and turns in rural Imitora like I would a Bentley. At least it was more secure than a Rolls Royce, or so I would assume.

In the end, the ride was nice. This is definitely a car to consider for the upper upper class, but I wont call it a hands down winner. As I pulled up to the garage and former First Speaker Thomas Gibson’s tuning house, New Owl Customs, he gave the Adinas Motors Star Coach an approving look, but left it with one brief statement.

“Give me a month, and I’ll make something faster, better handling, and more luxurious.”

I laughed it off, and followed him into the work area to look at a new Porsche he had just finished. But I wouldn’t put it past him to try.

Vehicle: Adinas Motor’s Star Coach V
Performance: Untested
Power numbers: 552hp@6100rpm, 475lbft torque
Pros:Big, fairly quick down low, plenty of comfort and room, more luxurious then any car I’ve ever driven, good steering feel
Cons:Big, not so quick up top, needs work with electronics, suspension is boring, motor even more boring

Final Verdict: Hold out for a year or so and wait for something better if you really need a super luxury. However, for the price, its great, and if you have the money and want one now, then go for it. Take it over a Bentley, but test drive a Rolls back to back.

*Torque numbers found as by Torque=(5252xHP)/Engine Speed

While we appreciate your honest review, we would like to comment on the premium sound system, and to say that perhaps your driver did not know how to operate it.

The standard format in Aerion is AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) MPEG-4, HD Radio is standard on all models, and satellite radio is as well with Aerion's Omdial Communications offers Omdial Satellite Radio with wide-spread coverage across Earth.

Nice car, I made a post in this identical thread on II (don't know why though as I saw this thread and read it when you initially posted it). Btw, Imitora, nice post - I honestly enjoyed. I think this has encouraged me to design a car of my own.
