I have been toying with this idea for awhile and have finally decided to see if anyone would be interested in a character Rp as members of various La Cosa Nostra Families. You can Rp as any ranking mobster from the Don all the way down to an associate of the Crime Family.


I have not thought of a time or location for this Rp and would be willing to listen to suggestions...

I did a Godfather rp a few years ago and went well. I am interested and tag for a later post.

I was actually thinking of making this Rp like the Godfather except with different Family names and characters. I would however be willing to base the plot and storyline around New York in the early 1940’s like the Godfather..


I will let the first five people choose Family names (please don’t use real life Crime Families names or already fictionalized ones) and allow them to choose their positions. You are allowed up to three characters that can be inside your family or Rp as associates or outsiders that deal with your family etc…

Family: The Maranzino Crime Family

Description: This family was officially formed after a bitter feud erupted in Staten Island between the Montebello brothers and Giovanni Maranzino during the 1920‘s. The Maranzino gang managed to consolidate power after four months of fighting. In the fifth month of the fighting the Montebello brothers Vito and Carlo were found dead in their Pizza parlor with several bullet holes along their bodies. This promptly ended the Five months war and gave rise to the Maranzino Family’s dominance of Staten Island…

Territory: Staten Island New York, The Maranzino Family has managed to dominate all the rackets inside of Staten Island and guards them fiercely.

List of Known Crimes: Extortion, Union Racketeering, Drug Trafficking, Running numbers rackets, and Loan sharking.

Base of Operations: The headquarters of the Maranzino Family is their Waste management business located in Staten Island. They use their driving routes to distribute drugs to many local businesses…

Hair: slicked back jet black hair with white streaks. Clean shaven face
Description: Giovanni is a thin man with slicked black hair. His face is always clean shaven and he is noted to wear only business suites and sometimes tuxedos. He is soft spoken most of time unless someone crosses him and tends to have a wispy rasp when angered.
Bio: Giovanni immigrated from Palermo Sicily in the late 1800’s to New York at the age of ten years old. He left to search for a better life with his family. Giovanni’s father a stern catholic raised his son with an iron hand.

This brutal draconian raising is what lead to this small time hard noised street kid into a powerful Don in the New York Mafia. Giovanni’s early criminal career started at the age of twenty when the local Black Hand terrorists would force his parents to pay protection money. Giovanni never thought much about this until one day his parent’s pizzeria was burned down after his father failed to make several payments to the local Black Hand. Giovanni swore revenge on the Black Hand thugs and promptly gathered his friends from the neighborhood to help him carry out their vengeance.

Giovanni and his two friends managed to find one of the Black Hand’s local card games. The gambling racket was quickly taken over and the Black Hand thugs guarding it were found dead in the streets the next day. This action promptly earned Giovanni a large amount of respect in the neighborhood and many of the local gambling operators started to go to Giovanni for protection. Giovanni used this new revenue from the protection rackets to get his own waste management business started. The gang eventually became noted as a Crime Family after a bitter blood feud against the Montebello Gang. The war only lasted five months but the cost was high with the death of both the Montebello brothers and their personal bodyguards. The rest of the Montebello gang was incorporated into the Maranzino family as associates promptly giving the Maranzino’s a larger base of operations and shooting Giovanni up the criminal ladder… It was not until the 1930’s that Giovanni was offically given the title of Don but his business at this time during the great depression boomed as people were going hungry on the streets. Giovanni and his men were making money from counterfeiting food and gas rationing coupons. This business proved lucrative and the rise of the depression gave the Maranzino Family a boost in position. The year is now 1940 world war II is going on in Europe and the tides of war are about to hit the United States. The Maranzino family is trying to expand into the drug rackets. The Maranzino’s have already managed to establish a foothold with the local unions and have been dominating the strong arming and gambling rackets for over thirty years. Giovanni is currently content with his position and is trying to get himself enough political protection to keep the heat off his large and lucrative organization….

My family's named will be Santini.

The Family name seems alright but where is their territory? What is their business in? Who is their leader and his subordinates?

Yeah, The problem is we need at least four people to at least make the Families of New York. If I could at least get that I would start the RP officially and let more people come in later...

Though I must admit I would rather be the family...."trashman" then an actual heavy part of the family. Maybe a close family friend

I would create a family,but I dont want to be a high ranked member of the family, I wanna be more of a soldier.

I prefer not getting into polotics and If I could swing it right I have the perfect pair of characters for the part. If my friend is intreasted to she probably will be.

Sure, You both don't have to Rp parts you don't want. I just don't want to RP the heads of all the Families. It would make it would be very hard to interact with myself for every sit-down and commission meeting..

The New York Mafia at this time would normally try and keep the peace. The goal of the mob is to make profit and warring with each other hurts business. This does not mean that executions are not carried out but it does mean the mobsters are not driving in their cars and shooting up the block with Tommy Guns. They are at this time trying to blend into society making profit while keeping their traditions and family loyalty still intact.

If your families have a special reason to be at war that could be acceptable but the reason has to make sense like an assassination attempt on a rival Don or muscling on another Families turf etc…

I am getting tempted to just make the other four families and take up their leadership positions and allow the Rpers to play the middle and lower ranks of each family. They could then learn the ways of the Five Families and maybe form alliances and try to get up to the top of the hierarchy by retiring or executing their old Dons. I really don’t want to do this because it would be a lot more RP work and it would force me to Rp as a bunch of old Sicilian mobsters whom are constantly plotting against each other and scheming to undermine or execute their competition at some later point…

that would be very good but would it not be better to choose other to take the roll of head? you know have a tryout if you will?

I thought I made it clear that multiple people can tryout? If you are referring to Kulikovia's Family. I have already allowed him to make his own I have Rped with him before and think that he could easily Rp as any position inside his family. I just need him to flesh out his family and claim before, I can start making other Families for people to claim...

I have done MANY Mob rps and would like to get involved in this 1.

Osteia would you mind if your character is an associate of my Family? If your character does a good job and has profit potential. He could become a made guy provided he is Italian and has "made his bones"...

I was thinking that perhaps there should be an Irish mafia,seeing as how it actually exists and it did back then too,and having all the families be Italian or Sicilian would limit players who want to be "made men" but don't want their character to be a full blooded Italian.

I suppose, I could allow an Irish Mafia to compete with the Italian Mafia. I think the Irish Mob was more Gang based and less Family oriented. I don't have much knowledge on Irish Mob activity during the 1940's...

And yes,the Irish Mafia was more gang based,but it still did the same crimes and had the same hierarchy as the Italian and Sicilian Mafias.

Okay, I think with the information you gave me. I could probably wing it with the Irish Mafia. If Irish Gangs are wanted then I shall let independent Rpers make their own Irish Gangs that can compete or work with the Italian Mafia in New York...
