Blue is for tolerance, white is for freedom, orange is for prosperity. And since you can not reach one without the others, there is a blue line in the orange and a orange line in the blue and they meet in the middle in the white area.

Brutland and Norden

Both the flags of Norden and Brutland have the Nordic Cross; Norden has a white cross on a yellow background; Brutland has a yellow cross on a dark blue background. Upon the personal union of the two kingdoms, their flag of the new Kingdom was a combination of the two. Both provinces still use the old traditional flags as their provincial flags.

The black is for the swirling chaos of the world that the nation started in, the gray diagonal stripe is for the journeys it took to shape the nation, and the navy is for the harmony that the nation now enjoys. The orinetal symbols of strength and honor are meant for people to continue on the strength of the nation and to honor those heros who have got them there.

The falcon symbolizes the pursuit of an object much desired – ambition, which has historically been a keystone to taking leadership of the Dominion – the posture of which denotes the active stance of such pursuit. The Sable color of the falcon symbolizes the intent to be constant and stable – again, the hope of those in power for their rule to be long and strong.
The division, per fess, Gules and Sable – with red symbolizing military fortitude, which has historically been necessary to have and hold control of the nation, along with showing strength against enemies, denoting the bloodshed thereof, and magnanimity to friends, heraldically being a symbol of generosity as well as violence. Black in this case both symbolizes again, constancy and stability, as well as acknowledging the passing of those who have gone before, and their sacrifice – and indeed, in the case of failed dictators, their failure to have and to hold. At once, the colors are a reminder of the desire to maintain control, and the price of death that has always been the price of failing to do so.
Flags for outlying territories are traditionally a variation of the main flag, with thus far, a symbol in Or (gold or yellow), in the corner that denotes something unique to the territory it represents, such as two stars for Nuova Toscana in the Sslaa system, etc.

The Vaadian Flag is a quartered black and gray. The black bears three leaping jaguars, the national animal and the gray bears the epithet 'Democracies Iunctum' Old Lassean for 'Democracies Unite' underneath a fasches.
The leaping jaguar represent force used to attack the Republic's external enemies while the fasches signifies the authority of the state, and the epithet refers to the several formerly independent 'Republics' that make up the Free Republic.
Black is the color of the flag of The House of Vaad, and gray is the color of the uniforms of the Velite Guard, the citizen army.

The blue represents the resource rich seas surrounding the country (which is a continent/island roughly the size of Australia), the white represents the peace prevalent in the country, which has never been involved in any major wars, The Snow Star represents the Princess, herself daughter and incarnation of a goddess (the country is pretty much a complicated Theocracy) and the national religion (still thinking of a name).

Oliverry
20-07-2007, 22:27
The Oliverrian flag is actually a mix of 2 flags: the original Oliverrian flag, which was Red, Blue and Green and the Limbrogidlian flag (http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/limbrogidlia.jpg), which has Orange, White and Blue, with three red stars in the middle.
http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/oliverry.jpg
Orange is one of the Limbrogidlian colours and it's the only reason why it's there. It is representing the Limbrogidlian people. The Blue part is representing the French people that colonized the southern part of Oliverry. The Red symbolizes the English people who settled in Northern Oliverry. The Oliverrian coat of arm is located in the middle of the flag, symbolizing the unity of the Oliverrian people, even though the country is a decentralized Federation.

Tradionally Kurona has made the flag to be of the Ruling Prince or Princess. http://www.manganet.it/news/tsubasa5.jpg This changed when Tomoyo took the Throne. The flag used today was orginally used as a city flag of Sonomi as well as for the military.
The Red Represents the Nobility of Royalty and of the tradions in the Principality. White represents purity and cleanliness black represents personal strength that Kuronans share. The four stars represent knowledge, will, novelty and royalty

The modern Gull Flag (pictured) was created by an official act of the Constituent Assembly dated 1953. It was based on a revolutionary banner raised by Charles Bradsworth after his return to the Shield. The red is of course the color of revolution. The white soaring gull is both a symbol of national will and the triumph of the people over oppression. The green shield is the traditional heraldry of Iansisle, representing Bradsworth's dream of a moderate revolution rather than a complete undoing of the old ways. The words "Iansisle Republic" declare the dream of the revolution.
The Gull Flag replaced a variety of flags which, to one degree or another, could claim to be the 'national flag' under the ancien régime. Most of these are shown here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/DrIquan/cwflags.jpg), with the two most common being the Cross of St Patrick (top left) and the Cross of St Adie (top center).

The modern Shogunate flag is a hybrid of two other banners, and its meaning requires an explanation in not-too-brief of both.
The first and older of the two is the old flag of the Nekoa Empire, the flag flown by the last of the great dynasties prior to the Dividing War.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/claw-kun/nekoaflag.gif
Though the exact origins of the central black emblem have been lost to the passage of time, the icon has been featured on ancient ruins and the banners of nearly every single one of the early kingdoms in what would eventually become the Shogunate. Scholars speculate it to be a glyph used by the Pegasii clan to represent the Boofohj ev kxo Wettojj Rcutoj, a group of extremely powerful beings who often directed the course of history on the continent and were pivotal in the establishment and downfall of the earliest dynasties.
Originally the maroon portions of the field were red, however at some point one of the Nekoite emperors during the Irregular Wars changed it from red (representing bloodshed for the Empire) to the slightly less unsettling maroon. The silver and gold stripes were a later addition to represent the wealth of the Empire (a clever lie, as at the time the country was reeling from a near total collapse of the economy), while the gold sun and silver star are the emblems of the Nekoite clan, which had held power for at least 500 years.
The other flag is far newer, the so-called "Burning Banner" or the "Wings of Chaos", the personal banner of Firefury Amahira as she led the revolution that finally felled the Empire.
http://rpstudios.ian-justman.com/junk/CGgoods/UprisingFlag.JPG
Its similarity to the Imperial banner is not coincidence. The revolution's goal was to overthrow the corrupt administration that had reduced the throne to merely a figurehead, and restore the Empress to power. To this end, the central black emblem has been removed entirely, replaced with a stylized 4-winged creature woven with thick gold thread: representing the "four wings of chaos" that Firefury often cited in her speeches as "overflying the people" and bringing discord in its wake.
In addition, the yellow and black flames licking at the bottom of the white band were representative of the civil unrest that had been building for years before the Dividing War, threatening the country and everyone within it.
After the revolution, the two flags were brought into the single design of the modern Shogunate- the maroon and white field, with a more stylized rendition of the Burning Banner's golden wings representing Amahira's rule of the nation in the stead of an Imperial throne that no longer exists, represented by the black emblem resting over the wings- the ideals of the vacant throne being carried on the wings of the revolution. In addition, the Nekoa sun and star were removed since the clan was no longer the ruling power, as were the gold and silver stripes.

Errinundrians like the colours and the southern sassafras leaves.
Some see the colours as representing the soil, the mist and the trees. Others don't.

The flag is red to signify the glorious revolution of the Remian people, and yellow to signify prosperity for all. (Also, it goes well with red.) There are several yellow lines connecting at the center, above of which the letters PSRR are to show that Remium does not discriminate and has people of all kinds working together to elevate the People's Socialist Republic to greatness.

I eventually did design the new rejistani flag:
http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/rejistania.jpg
The scales are a symbol of justice and its color refers to the equality of everyone in front of the law, the yellow background is meant to indicate federalism and coopoeration (this comes from the similarity of the words 'lines' (yellow) and 'linisha' (to cooperate)). The stripes indicate the 10 founding nations, the diagonal orientation is supposed to indicate support of the foundation principles of the Rejistanian Union.

The blue represents the ocean on the coastline and democracy. Green symbolizes the lush forests and peace. Orange symbolizes anti-dictatorship and the desert between the forests and the coastline.
