OOC: Interest in "Plausible" FT exploration RP

I've been out of the NS gaming on these boards for a while and am looking to get back into it. If anyone is interested in doing some "plausible" (aka "hard") science fiction RP, I'm definitely game. I figure it's about time for the FACS' Deep Space Command (based out of Uranus) to stretch its legs a bit and do some exploration out of the solar system. I'm up for first-contact scenarios, joint exploration projects, etc. Anyone else interested?

As a point of reference, I'm looking to things like Ben Bova's Grand Tour, the old PC game Mission Critical, Jovian Chronicles, etc. for inspiration.

You old fart. I thought you went the way of the dodo. :D

I like plausible stuff.
Always up for a good exploration RP, but considering my inability to maintain a steady post rate ....

Between getting my Master's thesis finished, going to a big conference where I won the student paper competition, starting a new job, and getting a kitten... I've been busy the past several months. :)
Scolo... Weyr... it doesn't have to be anything too complicated. In part, I'm looking to develop some of the ideas I'm working on for the RL d20 Future game I've been running. What kind of a role would ya'll like to play?

Kittens do tend to consume time, what with the cuteness, the fur, and the need for spaying.

Whatever you need. Side-person, opposition, on-again off-again number cruncher...

Uploaded Minds, my FT nation would be interested, but their idea of exploration is a bit... unconventional (reaching one solar system, exploring it, nanoassembling at least one copy of itself and heading to different stars)

Von Neumann machines have been around long before Kurzweil. Not as unconventional as you'd think.

And, to be honest, I don't see all that much fun in writing about Von Neumann machines doing all the work. ;)
I was thinking more along the lines of "Well, we've found this point in space that we can jump to, but we don't think anyone else has explored yet. Anyone else want to come along and see what we can find?"
