The Yellow Sea Islands
23-06-2007, 23:51
I want to exchange the histories of our countries it can be as long or as short as you like I don't care. Here's mine.

The islands of my country were first inhabited by Polynesian settlers. There they became isolated from the other pacific islands. In their isolation they developed their own culture and religon. The religon they followed is simply called by historians Star Worship because that is precisely what it was. On all seven islands massive stone temples with open ceilings were erected so the masses could pray to the stars and planets. They remained undisturbed for thousands of years. Later on Medieval Japanese explorers would arrive and settle there as well. Those explorers who returned brought back an invention that the Japanese would clame as their own for centuries to come. Saki. The settlers that arrived were welcomed. My country also welcomed the new religon they brought with them from Japan known as Shinto. Eventually conection was lost between the Japanese settlers and their homeland and our cultures merged into a combination of Pacific and East Asian traits. The two religons coexisted in our culture Star Worship and Shinto. They remained in such a relationship for another 500 years. Then the English discovered our islands. They sent English missionaries to colonize the islands. These missionaries introduced many English customs into our culture as well as a third religon Christianity. We remained an English colony until the mid 20th Century. By this time Christianity had become the dominant religon. Shinto had a decent porsion of followers and to this day a minority are Star Worshipers. Our culture however evenly mixed together into a unique and vibrant way of life. When Great Britain granted us our independence there was a bloody stage of Anarchy. One that left behind terrible memories for our country. But eventualy the present government took hold in the late 20th Century and remains to this day.

That's my countries history. What yours?
Pengina von Got

Pengina von Got is a relatively large island. It was uninhabited by humans towards the beginning of recorded history, or at least no "civilized" nations discovered it and recorded any human habitation. Slightly before the Middle Ages, a ship of unknown nationality (generally believed to be from a germanic country) was marooned on the island. The passengers established a strictly disciplined civilization based on the honor system and the Catholic faith. As time progressed, other countries discovered the country, mixing their culture with that of Pengina von Got. It has become more liberal with the addition of these other cultures and is now a fairly progressive nation with diverse peoples. The majority of citizens are still Catholic, but other Christian sects, Judaeism, and Islam have also shown significant amounts of followers in recent censuses.
Zwangzug

"Happy is the nation that has no history"--motto of the nonexistent Historical Society of Zwangzug.

Once upon a time, there was a king.

He needed some rice.

So his people gave it to him.

Then they ran out of rice.

But he still needed more.

So they left their kingdom to look for some.

Then one of the king's advisors told them that they could declare independence from the king.

So they did.

Time passed.

Presumably, some people that spoke English came in.

More time passed.

Then there was some funny business with a wall.

People decided that they were in fact a country.

They set up organizing it.

And here we are.
