"Well, it's about that time of year again, don't you think?"

"Will there be any interest? That 'WorldVision' contest has been running continuously since the last NSVision contest..."

"I think the original event will draw some crowds, and more importantly, uh..."

"Tourism money."

"Yes, that. Maybe it'd even put Verion Solaan on the map in these parts."

An announcement was made, perhaps not particularly high-brow, but noticeable enough, issued by the SYSNET KIANN Multicasting Service, which had been awarded the rights to organizing the next NSVision contest. Seeing as it was their first hosting, some of the preparations had taken somewhat longer than they may have otherwise.

S-NET KIANN, Kajurmani

In the spirit of friendship, the Federated Imperium of Kajal will host the third NSVision Song Contest, showcasing the unique cultures of nations worldwide and beyond. In this contest, only those most renowned artists and groups will perform in front of an audience comprised from nations from Sol and beyond, who will then decide on whom they prefer the most. Every nation recieves the same influence, with no considerations of size or importance in political or economic matters. The only requirements are that entrants are able to stage performances that are, in this day and age, defined as 'music.'

The contest itself is tentatively scheduled for $date, which should allow enough time for those nations wishing to participate to select a group to represent them. We look forward to hearing the results of such determinations, and to see your representatives in Verion Solaan, located to the north of Menelmacar.

Sincerely,
Sherenn Isaan

OOC: Same Drill as last time. Complete songs are not required in this thread, as a description of the national finals and the names of winning groups will be fine. As always, songs must be original works. The RP thread will hopefully start in about two weeks, though it may be postponed until after WorldVision wraps up.

Kura-Pelland are always up for a good musical contest; they sign up.

To ensure the nation's music in all its diversity is known worldwide, a different song will be entered; entries are already in for WorldVision national final This Is Our Sound on NTV1, but rival television network PBS has claimed the rights for NSVision, and their flagship station PBS5 will air 'A Song For The World' as a qualifier. Nobody can enter both... so expect an interesting choice of act.

OOC note: this post is a placeholder which will be filled next week with details on the act chosen

"I thought in these enlightened times we had votes to determine our country's results."

"Yeah, that's for WorldVision."

"Well, what's this?"

"NSVision."

"..."

"Just let me handle this. Right, here's a list of the most popular solo artists this week."

"Benny Angle?"

"Nah. He's actually come back into contact with one of his "inspirations". I predict a boring anticlimax."

"Okay then. Red Knight?"

"Busy writing the soundtrack for a movie."

"Which?"

"It's an adaptation of one of Mary Back's books."

"Never heard of them. Um...Teresa Coyne?"

"How did she get on here? Nope, not yet. But keep an eye on her, she shows promise."

"Then that leaves...Taylor Steele."

"Look, let's just wait for WorldVision."

"But Steele's got great songs! Ever heard Pseudorandom Harvest?"

"Yes, which proves my point."

"What point?"

"That we're going to wait for WorldVision. Look, you can't seriously want to send Taylor Steele performing Pseudorandom Harvest out to Kajal, can you?"

"Sure I can."

"Don't say I didn't warn you..."

S-NET KIANN, Kajurmani

S-NET KIANN is proud to announce that the third annual NSVision contest is only $timeperiod away! Given that the concurrent WorldVision contest has now wrapped up, we appeal to all nations interested to select, by whatever means they choose, an individual or musical group to perform in the contest at $date, in Verion Solaan, north of Menelmacar.

We look forward to hearing the results of any further determinations, and to see your representatives soon.

Sincerely,
Sherenn Isaan

It is rather hard to have 1024 nations competing for the 'national' final, but after 2 rounds of qualifications, the national final could take place. The venue was chosen to be the former rejistanian parliament in Sike. The different nations had completely different styles:

KaMaRi kali's contribution was a dance song with western choerography and a title in Esperanto. Per Sono is a group of young and beautiful girls and their song was called: "Mi enamiĝis al vi" (I fell in love with you)

The contribution from Atanaheda (which is neighboring the nation Jinhes) was an a capella song like the famous Helelovy by Kansu ve Karma called "xe'ki'disde" (I will decide) by a mixed choir called Enju Ethana'ny'ra (a house in the sky).

Jaja-Ki! is a trollmetal group from Menevenje. Their loud music with traditional topics was something which made elderly people and priests unsure on whether to support or oppose them. They song "Kaji'il!" (Fight!) told the story of the best fighter of all times according to inikresaistic myths.

Telik's contribution was pop-ish with lots of traditional rejistanian influences of course. The band was an exkola side (think: high school) band called Laai Tera (free hour/period, time when there is a hole in the schedule). Their song was something, many students can only agree on: "xen'ki'xan ki'jet" (literally: 'we will plan in the future', freer: "The future may come").

Uia Uie was a traditional orchestra from a nest near Sike. Their very traditional song in the Ly language: "Sha Sam Ve" (over every obstacle) is a love song, which probably since centuries was sung at weddings. They tried to make a version, which is somewhat of a core version of the many existing different versions.

Lilili was the last artist from the city/nation of Setane. They are a hiphop-team of only kireshi-rejistanis. Like Mwenzi bands, they mix a lot of languages in their songs. "I stay at your side" is political, emotional and in large parts in English.

The winner will be announced later.
Scotchpinestan

The national final features five acts hoping to represent Scotchpinestan in the NSVision Song Contest. And the event has its fair share of controversy.

The acts:

- The Banjo Men, who narrowly missed qualifying for the Worldvision contest with "Grab Some Alcohol", got to the final five here with "Red-Haired Woman".

- Rocakbilly/swing band Five Squares come ready to rock with their hit "Let's Make Some Love Tonight".

- Laura Simons, the youngest finalist at 16, had wowed the judges in earlier rounds with her range and piano-playing prowess. Her song for the finals is a song not yet released to the public, titled "Crying Accomplishes Nothing".

- Singer-songwriter Jesse Granger-Murray advanced with his hit "Simplicity".

- And the fifth finalist, and the most controversial one by far, is rapper Malik Terry. He has advanced to the final with his song "Shine".

Terry's inclusion in the final five has stirred up a lot of debate. Many have questioned whether a rap song belongs in this competition. But the Scotchpine voters have advanced him this far. Still, it is unclear how much support he really has.

Terry held a press conference in the week prior to the final to defend himself and his song: "The reason why they call it a song contest is because our songs are competing against each other. It's not about me, it's about 'Shine'. I wrote all the lyrics, did all the arrangements...and it's a song that gives a message, a message of hope. That's what this contest is about: the lyrics, the message. It shouldn't matter what style the song is being performed in; if you just read the lyrics without knowing it was hip-hop, I think it's clear that my song belongs here in the final. And hopefully the fans will agree and allow me the honor of bringing this song to Kajal."

Scotchpinestan's major entertainment magazines are all predicting that Terry will win. However, there is a report that supporters of some of the other acts are trying to convince the other acts to band together somehow to try and defeat Terry. It's not clear exactly how such an arrangement would work, but the rumor of it happening should certainly add intrigue to the final.

"NSVision the third... wait didn't we host that?"

"No that was the WorldVision, this is NSVision, completely different though completely the same."

"Oh, so that means the Rejistanis will once again win?"

"Probably but who are we going to enter... Well, why not start up the Singing Bazalope competition again?"

"Well, The Flufyt Bunny song in the WorldVision did at least get one 12."

"But, yeah I suppose we should."

"Hey look it's NSvision let's enter."

"After the no performance debacle by Mvela? I think not"

"Ah come on that was Worldvision"

"There's a difference?"

"Yes....... well no actually."

"Oh well but still what if we get another no performance."

"Ah don't worry if we don't allow politicly minded bands enter we don't have that problem."

"Oh what sort of bands do we let enter then?"

"Ah girl bands, boy bands you know manufactured pop, that way even if they don't perform people will vote because they think they're fit"

"Aha I see"

"Well shall we enter then?"

"Ah why the hell not? It can't go any worse than Worldvision anyway to be honest."

"We got twelve points in that"

"Yeah but that's only because Zwangzug hates the competition and all the crap songs in it."

Hey, looks like WorldVision has some competition now. NSVision, i think it's called... Do you think we should enter?

NSVision? That doesn't sound very catchy... but yeah why not.

Well, Wiadzase and Jawalski might try to kill us if we make them comment on more then one crappy song contest a year. And we still don't have a song.

We'll have some other unlucky people do the commentary. There, problem solved. Do you still have any objections to entering?

Yeah, we still don't have a song!

We just pick some-one off the charts to perform.

Wentland tried that, the band didn't take it too kindly.

Fine. Maybe we'll just take some time to select a song or maybe even have a vote like in worldvision! But we are entering, end of story.
